LMS 4.2 Prime Issue_SMTP

Hello,
Is it possibe to change SMTP port from 25 to any other in LMS..? Bcoz in scenario where we keep SMTP server to flow on some different port rather default port 25. So our LMS also should communicate in the new specified port to send DFM Alerts. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance ...

Hi Vinod,
Can you pls check the attached packetcapture from the LMS server...
Here, as Viswesaran mentioned, the smtp is in cloud with public ip and the port is 587.
We are able to telnet to this port from LMS server..
In DFM the device interface is managed and kept the interface down for 5 mins and taken pcap from the lms server.
There is an alert in the DFM during this period as well..
Can we configure gmail/yahoo for testing purpose., we did but not working..
Pls help.
regards
Rajesh

     Hi:
I´m running LMS 4.1 Prime for Windows.
I tried an immediate report with PSIRT/EOX Report option: Cisco.com
The job succeeded, but without any data in the report

  • WCS and LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 Upgrade

    Hello,
Our customer is currently having WCS for 500 devices and LMS 3.2 for 1500 devices. We are planning to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3.
I want to check is the upgrade procedure that we have planned is ok or we have missed something.
Phase 1: WCS to CPI 1.3 upgrade
    1. Check that WCS is at 7.0.230.0  version
    2. Export WCS database
    3. Install NCS 1.1.1.24 software
    4. Contact cisco to obtain trial license for NCS software (L-WCS-NCS1-M-K9 license).
    5. Migrate WCS license and import it in NCS software
    6. Migrate WCS data to NCS software using ncs migrate command
    7. Patch NCS software
    8. Inline upgrade to CPI 1.3 software
    9. Install proper licenses on CPI 1.3 (WCS and LMS device count)
My concern in this first phase is should I use NCS large image since our Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 software should manage 2000 devices at the end.
Or is it better not to perform inline upgrade and insted go with exporting data from NCS and then importing them to CPI 1.3 that is going to be installed separately?
Phase 2: LMS 3.2 to CPI upgrade
    1. Export LMS 3.2 database
    2. Install LMS 4.2 software
    3. Install license to LMS 4.2
    4. Restore data from LMS 3.2 to LMS 4.2
    5. Direct upgrade from LMS 4.2 to 4.2.2
    6. Export the device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2  and import it as a Bulk Import in CPI 1.3
At the end we will have CPI 1.3 and LMS 4.2.2 software running.
Is it possible to directly upgrade from LMS 4.2 to LMS 4.2.4 and then import data to CPI 1.3 or we need to go with 4.2.2 version?
    Regards,
    Jelena

Are this errors going to affect our LMS 4.2 operations?
Then we have upgraded to LMS 4.2.2 and exported data and credentiales for PI import.
On PI 1.3 we have installed WCS 500 devices upgrade license and LMS 1500 upgrade license and now we are having 2000 devices lifecycle license. We have successfully restored WCS data in PI and we have imported LMS devices as bulk import. What is strange is that we have this message in prime regarding licensing:
On LMS 3.2 our customer had saved unlimited number of configuration versioning. After upgrading to LMS 4.2 we can only see last 3 configurations regardless of unlimided number of configurations in previous LMS, so my question is where can we find older configurations in LMS 4.2?
We are planning to turn unlimited versioning on CPI 1.3 now, so our customer will again have feature that they need. Do you have some experiance regarding disk space when all device configurations are stored forever?
    Thank you for your help.
    Regards,
    Jelena

  • Cisco Works LMS to Cisco Prime 1.1

With this licenses as per table below for Prime 1.1, are we gonna get both NCS and LMS Licenses? What i know of is with Prime 1.2
you are gonna have both NCS and LMS Licenses. Please advise!:)
    Part Number
    Description
    R-PI-1.1-UP-K9
LMS   2.x/3.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1 Major Release Upgrade
    Major   Release Upgrade Options
    R-PI1.1-100-UP-K9
LMS   2.x/3.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.1 Major Release Upgrade - 100 Device

    Hi there,
LMS Common Services by default only has 5 useful roles:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_common_services_software/3.1.1/user/guide/admin.html#wp1014874
    Help Desk
    Approver
    Network Operator
    Network Administrator
    System Administrator
What you are asking can only be done in conjunction with some sort of Radius  or ACS server . The security levels mentioned above is for application control to limit access to prevent unauthorized usage of CiscoWorks applications. For device and and application control, you will need an ACS server for that.
More information on pluggable authentication can be found here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_common_services_software/3.1.1/user/guide/admin.html#wp833222

  • Prime LMS 4.2 to Prime Infrastructure 2.0 license migration

A couple of months ago I upgraded WCS to Prime Infrastructure (WCS via NCS to PI 1.2 at that time). Meanwhile PI is running version 2.0. For some reason, when purchasing the upgrade licenses, I also got a 500 device LMS4.2 upgrade license.
    The exact part numbers were:
R-W-PI12-M-K9 WCS 7.0 to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Migration
R-PI12-BASE-K9 Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Base License and Software
    L-PI12-LF-500-LIC Prime Infrastructure 1.2 - Lifecycle - 500 Device Lic PAK
L-PILMS42-500-M Prime Infrastructure LMS 4.2 - 500 Device Upgrade Lic
I have a virtual LMS appliance running where I installed the 500 device license I mentioned. I've actually never used LMS but that's a different story...
As I'm running low on PI device licenses (lifecycle licenses to be precise), the question is:
Is there an officially supported scenario to migrate these 500 LMS 4.2 licenses (that are already the result of a license upgrade) to PI 2.0?
If so: what part numbers do I need to purchase? I suppose I need
R-L-PI2X-U-K9 LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Upgrade
    plus
(L-L-PI2X-500-U LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Lifecycle Upgrade 500 Device)
    XOR
(L-L-PI2X-500-UP LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x Lifecycle Upgrade with PASS 500 Device)
Maybe someone can comment on that... thanks in advance.

In case anyone is facing the same issue:
Meanwhile, I finished the upgrade process using the following part numbers:

  • Migrate from Prime LMS to Prime Infrastructure

I'm currently running CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 on Windows 2003 under VMware and just got upgrade licensing for Prime Infrastructure 1.2.  I am assuming that I will need to upgrade the current server to Prime LMS 4.2 in order to ensure that data migration to Prime Infrastructure goes well.  I am planning to follow Cisco's recommendation to run Prime LMS and Prime Infrastructure in parallel for a time and migrate individual functions.
My real question is about Syslog handling.  All of the managed devices are currently sending Syslog data to LMS.  As a last step in the migration, is it possible to change the IP address of the Prime Infrastructure server to replace the Prime LMS server so that the Prime Infrastructure server will just start getting all the Syslog data, or do I need to go change hundreds of managed devices to point to a new address?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Putting LMS up against Prime Infrastructure is like comparing Apples to Oranges.
LMS is a very mature product and Prime Infrastructure is in it infancy stages...
My suggestion would be to leave the current LMS system up and running; bring a Prime Infrastructure server up with a Demo License; add a few of each type of device to your Prime Infrastructure server; setup a proof of concept scenario to prove you can do everything in Prime as you can do in LMS.

  • Upgradding Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0

    Hello,
A customer currently have 2,500 Cisco Prime Infrastructure Lifecycle device license using Prime Infrastructure version 1.2 and LMS 4.x. the customer wants to upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0.
Does anyone know if it is possible to upgrade to version 2.0 without additional cost? the licenses from
Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 has to be upgraded or we need only to rehost the VUDI.
Also could be possible to upgrade LMS 4.x to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.0?
    thanks!

The two features you mention are two big missing ones. Another is full syslog capability. I don't believe CiscoView or day one support via package updates is included either.
Another is less tangible - the depth of experience and documentation available for LMS vs. Prime Infrastructure (particularly the wired management features). I agree for wireless PI 2.0 looks good. Some new features are coming for wired that look promising but they are new as of PI 2.0 so I'm taking a wait and see on them.
I hope to get 2.0 up in my lab in the next week or so and will hope to be pleasantly surprised but that's seldom the case with a major new release.

Welcome to the Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions from Cisco expert Tejas Shah on One Management with Prime Infrastructure 1.2 Combining the wireless functionality of Cisco Prime Network Control System (NCS) with the wired functionality of Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution (LMS),  Cisco Prime Infrastructure simplifies and automates many of the day-to-day tasks associated with maintaining and managing the end-to-end network infrastructure from a single pane of glass. The new converged solution delivers all of the existing wireless capabilities for RF management, user access visibility, reporting, and troubleshooting along with wired lifecycle functions such as discovery, inventory, configuration and image management, automated deployment, compliance reporting, integrated best practices, and reporting.

Can you go over the licensing method with Prime Infrastructure 1.2 please?
Raun, you can check out the following link for ordering guide at
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps12239/products_data_sheets_list.html
I currently have NCS and do NOT currently have LMS.  I know I can move to Prime Infrastructure through Cisco Product Upgrade Tool.  However, what I am confused about is do I still have to buy LMS to have LMS functionality in Prime Infrastructure 1.2?
==> Not at all.  The converged product will give you basic management capability for routers and switches that LMS provided in this release.   Feature/Functionality will keep on growing with upcoming releases.
If not, do the licenses I transfer into Prime Infrastructure 1.2 from NCS also work for devices to work under LMS?
==> Licensing is different than NCS or LMS.  You don't have to transfer the license.  Each install of Prime Infrastructure will have a unique UID string on which the licenses are based.  A new license will be applied to the product.
Mean, can my currently 350 licenses be used for AP's as in NCS and routers in the LMS portion of Prime Infrastructure 1.2?
==> I would recommend getting a total count of your wired and wireless devices and match the right SKU based on that.
Hope this helps.. Let me know if you have any further questions,

  • Prime infrastructure 1.2

    Hi all,
Yesterday I installed my first Cisco prime infrastructure 1.2.
I'm a bit confused now, is this the integrated version of LMS and NCS? At first sight, there's not a lot LMS in it.
I don't see topology services, netconfig etc.
Since the release of LMS 4.0 I'm struggeling with the licenses every time. No exeptions this time, our customer has + 100 access points and + 100 switches.
    We have 125 NCS licenses
Do we need separate licenses for the switches? Or are they included in the NCS license. According to a cisco licensing engineer LMS and WAN are not compatible with Prime Infrastructure 1.2.
Can anyone clarify this for me?
    Thanks
    Best Regards,
    Joris

You are correct in saying there's not much LMS in Cisco Prime Infrastructure.  They are essentially still 2 different products even thought future plans are to combine both wireless and wired mgmt in future releases of Prime Infrastructure.
Licensing will also stay separate for now even though Cisco is generating LMS and WAN license files with Prime Infrastructure...both of which are useless and have only confused the fact.
Certain contracts allow for migrating LMS licenses to Prime Infrastructure but it makes no sense to do that because the current version of Prime Infrastructure has only a couple of LMS features currently available.

  • Prime Infrastructure 2.1 Compliance Licensing

Till Date LMS and Cisco Prime Infrastructure are standalone applications and do not operate in sync.
If you deploy a new application server for LMS, it will be working separately and you can have its compliance manager running with this license applied.
Don't expect integration. Even though PI is eventually destined to be the primary NMS application from cisco and LMS to suppose be phased out, still CPI hasn't reached the feature parity as per LMS, so we still offer our customer's option to run LMS for those features they don't find in CPI.
So as per your question :
So does this mean, if I have purchased the compliance licenses, I have to deploy LMS 4.2 to utilize these licenses?
    The Answer is unfortunately yes.
    -Thanks
    Vinod

Yes, ideally you should have received multiple PAK or license files, like base license for PI and add-on device license etc. Any one of them having **LMS** in the PAK/Licence file name refers to a LMS license.
You should check more details with the vendor or your cisco's account manager.
LMS has various modules embedded in itself like configuration archive, performance, monitoring, inventory management, compliance manager etc.
It has central device repository from where all these modules get device and credential information. You'll have to configure various compliance jobs/templates etc with one or group of devices to run once or periodically.
Compliance DB stays in sync with LMS and from there you can use it. If you are planning to use Compliance, you can install LMS and use compliance under 60 days evaluation period.

  • CiscoWorks LMS3.2 to Prime 1.2

    Hi
Does anybody knows what´s the path to upgrade to Cisco Prime 1.2?
Or if it is possible to install directly Prime 1.2, with what licencing?
    I have Ciscoworks LMS 3.2
    Thanks for your help

There is no direct migration from LMS 3.x Prime Infrastructure. Usually, Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 also includes the software and licenses to use Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.
In case you want the data, you have to migrate the data by taking backup and restoring it to CPI from LMS 4.x. LMS 3.x has also reached end of engineering and data migration is not possible.
As with CPI 1.2 you have LMS 4.2 licenses as well, you can have direct inline upgrade to LMS 4.2 on top of LMS 3.2 server.
The Prime Infrastructure 1.2 (bundle) includes:
•Prime Infrastructure 1.2 (product) - replaces Cisco Prime NCS 1.1 and NCS (WAN) 1.1
    •Prime LMS 4.2
It's important to clarify that when we're talking about migrating from LMS to Prime Infrastructure, the only data involved is an inventory of the devices themselves.  There is no migration for historical data, network diagrams, users,
etc.  The data that gets brought over is simply the inventory.  Therefore the migration consists of exporting the devices into a spreadsheet in LMS, and using the bulk import feature in PI to import the CSV file.  Unfortunately there were some slight issues with the formatting of the exported spreadsheet versus what is needed to import into PI. Therefore some manual manipulations are required to get it to work.
With LMS 4.2.2, there is a way right from the web interface to export the device list with credentials that can be consumed by Cisco Prime Infrastructure. The device list can be exported from Administration > Export Data to Cisco Prime Infrastructure (under System). Then select Export Device List and Credentials from the export options.
Once you have the exported device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2, it can be imported into Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 by navigating to Operation > Device Work Center > Bulk Import.
Only migration supported from LMS to PI 1.2 is the device credential repository (DCR) information. We only support direct LMS4.2.x DCR to PI 1.2 exports/imports directly, but you could export from LMS 3.2 to CSV, then modify the CSV file to match what PI 1.2 is looking for, then import that data.

  • Prime Infrastructure

    Dear friends
we have ordered PRIME-NCS-APL-K9 (PI-APL-IMAGE-2.0) and R-L-PI2X-U-K9  (Upgrade from Cisco LMS to Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.x)
I have doubt NCS is for wireless controller but how can we add LMS to this server ?
Also explain me step by step of migrate data from WCS also from LMS 4.2
    Thanks and Regards,
    Shahul

I had this issue as well. I found it confusing as to the migration of LMS to Cisco Prime. We decided to do a clean implementation and not migrate from LMS to CPI as per the documentation. Our decision was to export the devices from the LMS DCR and import them into CPI. (With the understanding that we will loose historical data.)
I just finished a course on CPI and in the course they stated that LMS has not been migrated into the CPI bundle as of yet. The claim was that the LMS should only be upgraded to CPI (LMS) and not CPI 2.0.
    Is this statement valid??

  • Help with Prime Infrastructure Client Tracking

I'm running PI 1.2.1.012 and I'm having issues populating client information. Most of my switches are 2960 series. Specifically I get a lot of MAC Address "Unknown" and nothing in the IP address field. I probably get about 25% of the correct MAC address and 10% of the IP addresses. I also run CiscoWorks Prime LMS 4.3.2. and the user tracking information is about 98% correct pertaining to MAC address and IP address. My other network management tools also are very accurate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same Problem here. I've discovered all the access switches in the environment and they are "Managed" in Device Work Center. Previously we used CiscoWorks and that populated the Mac address, IP address, along with what switch the end host was connected to. That was very helpful for our Helpdesk in troubleshooting. Im now trying to setup the same thing in Prime. Looking at a individual switch the MAC would populate but nothing on IP Address.
Im at a loss. I've newly taken over the position of Network Analyst so maybe there is a licensing issue that we didnt get that im not aware of thats not bringing the ISE or LMS portion of Prime into play?

  • LMS User Tracking for NEXUS 5548UP

    Dear,
A while ago I received a ticket from one of our customers because User Tracking was not working for NEXUS 5548UP on LMS 3.2. I opened a TAC case for this but this was normal since it is a Datacenter switch. Now the customer came back on this because they really want to see which server is connected to which switch port. I understood from the TAC engineer this is not on the roadmap to integrate in LMS 4.x. They want to know if there exists another product (they thought about DCNM) and wanted to know how this integrates or works together with LMS...
    Kind regards,
    Sven Laureyssens

My latest understanding of User Tracking and Nexus 5K series is that it is not supported due to a limitation of the MIB support in the NX-OS.
The current DCNM (release 5.2) is distinct from the LMS and Cisco Prime umbrella but that wil be changing a bit moving forwad as DCNM is enhanced and rolled into the Cisco Prime family. Last I heard there should be some information coming out of Cisco Live this week and a new release will have some additional functionality and better integration. Still, I doubt we'll see UT for the 5K due to the NX-OS limitation.
One way to do what you're asking apart from use of any of the Cisco products is to enable LLDP on your Nexus and servers. That will at least give you the ability to pull the information from the NX-OS command line ("show lldp neighbor")
