LMS Tracking in Safari

Safari browsers on laptops, ipads, iphones are suddenly not tracking course completions in my LMS. They are tracking in Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer.
They were working fine as of last week.
My LMS provider is also looking into this, but since the courses are running and tracking correctly in all other browsers, it appears it is something in the browser that changed.
Any ideas on why this is happening or how we can fix it?
These are the oS and ios that have been tested and failed: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63), OS X 10.8.2, ios 6.1.1 (have not yet downloaded ios 6.1.2) and an ipad running ios 6.1.2

There will be some software out there that should be able to achieve what you want (I had a quick Google and came across Kids GoGoGo for instance).
Depending on the age of your children, the parental controls in Tiger may or may not be up to par for your purposes. Essentially you can restrict the websites Safari can access to a specific list - this is probably a bit of overkill for an older child though (and if they manage to obtain another browser those controls no longer apply).
How do you access the internet? Do you use a router? Most usually come with history log functionality built in (and the ability to prevent access to addresses if needed). The only downside with this is that since it is at the central access point to the 'net, once you disable access to a site, all computers going through that router are affected, not just the intended user.

Not sure how to explain but mac 27" desktop - keyboard and track pad safari and chrome keys pressed sending me different places

Basically, if iam opening an email in gmail it opens a tab for the email or if I am typing a password it opens documents. Trackpad and keyboard keys opening things I did not open. Please help. I've restarted twice and it isn't helping. I've replaced batteries. Thinking it's internal and not the keyboard or track pad. thank you.

LMS not tracking quiz completion or interaction data

I have created two identical assessments (apart from the questions). When users exit the POST assessment on the Quiz Reporting slide, the LMS tracks their completion and interaction data. However, when users exit the PRE assessment on the Quic Reporting slide, the LMS does NOT track their completion nor interaction data. I've configured all Quiz Preferences identically. Is there something else I'm missing?

I'm not sure of this and defer to any contrary/additional replies that may follow...but...
Past versions of CP have required some sort of scored interaction in order for the lesson to properly report via SCORM to the LMS.
If you have a CP lesson without any scored interactions (no 'reporting'), that may be why completion is being recorded to the LMS.
SO try setting up one scored interaction as you suggest.
For CP lessons that do have quizzes, you won't need that separate scored interaction.
You'll also likely want to change you settings to just 'Slide Views Only' if you just want completion reported based on them viewing the whole project, and I suspect Slide View Completion should be 100, not 10...

Error on exit with LMS KO

I have a client using the Plateau LMS and every time they
exit the course with the Send Data KO (that which came with AW7,
not the Professional KO) they get an PostURL() error, IOStatus
5006. I have set the KO to track data,
Score = (no value)
Time Automatic
Location – Other (custom variable)
=bookmark
Status = CMIStatus
Lesson Data consists of a single variable which is a single
dimensional linear list (eg modCompletion=[0,1,0])
No Pre-Processing
Quit after sending (no optional url)
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Actually - the use of the CMI Functions and Variables could
(and probably
would) certainly cause the error you indicate, below.
Authorware automatically attempts to do it's own LMS tracking
with an AICC
LMS (but doesn't quite follow the standard) but not a
SCORM-compliant LMS,
when you use the CMI Functions and Variables. This conflicts
with the LMS
KOs communication with an LMS. So...
The LMS KO attempts to communicate with the LMS using the
data/variables you
entered in the KO wizard AND Authorware attempts to
communicate with the LMS
seperately, using the data it's aware of (which in this case
is so limited)
and it's this later communication that is causing the 5006
error to occur.
First recommendation is to NOT use the CMI
Functions/Variables, if you are
using the LMS KOs. Re-publish and import into your LMS. Make
sure you
remember to clear your browser cache.

Music-Download from Safari goes directly to iTunes. Disable it?

Always when i download some tracks from safari, the data starts to play. Due to that reason it's automatticly linked with iTunes. How do i disable this issue?

Actually this didn't solve the problem, but just below the line "Save downloaded files to:" I found a option to disable. Due to my translation skills from german into english it should be: "Automattically open downloaded files"
Now all files won't open by themselfe after downloading it. This means, that the Music-Data doesn't go directly to iTunes . So I can tune the file before I drop it into iTunes. Perfect!

Automatic time tracker?

Can anyone recommend a utility - safe and preferably free - that simply tracks how much time you spent, both working in programs and surfing the web, automatically? I suspect I am spending a little too much time doing both. There's a hole somewhere in my time management, and having such a program would be a good reality check.
I do have a little program that manually tracks time and tasks, when entered in; however, I often end up reading news pages, surfing, or writing emails or what-have-you, and find that 45 minutes has passed and something more important didn't get done.

I don't see that it tracks what you do automatically, so that might be something I would use for specific projects and tasks.

To be honest I'm a little leery of downloading anything that would track my activity - esp. if it's web-based. How would I be sure that it is legitimate? I'm a little afraid of running into a trojan horse. I'm going to try the Active Timer - the reviews seem ok.

The timer is pretty cool. It tracked my time in separate documents in Illustrator. As for tracking in Safari, it listed it all as one block when I used tabs, which I usually do. However, I was able to get it to log separate sites when they were each opened in a new window.
Looks like this will do the trick.
Now I can find out where all my time is going! I've probably blown two hours of good work time tonight just goofing around online, and it's so easy to get sucked in!

Course on LMS to portal to an external course

We have a vendor pitching to do work for us but their content won't smoothly upload to our LMS. They can host the courses for us and provide reporting but I'd rather not make our learners go to multiple places. Can I create a course in Captivate that when opened will actually load the vendor's course from their website?

What you ask might be technically feasible, but it would probably not be a practical. When it comes to SCORM content, most LMSs insist that the content resides in the LMS repository and gets served up from there. If you opt for AICC as your interaction standard (assuming that your LMS supports it) you might be able to point the LMS at the content on a remote server and still have the LMS track it. But there are a lot of variables and potential pitfalls with this.

Videos and Music will not play using Safari or Chrome

I have tried every trouble shooting option I can find on the internet. Nothing is working. Adobe is fully updated. Safari is fully updated. Chrome is fully updated. Videos will not play on websties such as CNN, CBC. Music will not play on websites such as Sound Cloud.
YouTube and Netflix work fine.

Ok I have a iPod 4G 32GB, all my apps freeze and then close or don't even open at all. I tried deleting and reinstalling as I thought the app was the problem, but it still did the same thing and I have only wasted 5.3 GB. What's wrong with it?

I really need help finding out what time a website was visited that is in the browsers history. How can I get a complete browser history or set the iPhone to keep longer than a week. Is there a way to look back further than the dates shown? IOS there a app you can download that will keep track of safaris browser history and what time a site was accessed ? Stopping Sum Total completed activity popup

1st time posting and new user of Adobe Captivate 5. Hoping to find some help.
Here is my scenario.
I have a Power Point presentation that I have brought into captivate 5.
The steps I need to accomplish are
1) Disable the SumTotal player (done through edit of Manifest.xml file.
2 Have user page through all slides to end.
3) Captivate send a completion to LMS
Here is my problem. As soon as user enters last slide Sum total pops up the "You have completed the activity. Click OK to close the player." button right in the middle of the slide forcing the user to move it to finish reading the slide and then they would need to click OK to close thus generating a completion status in the LMS.
My publish settings are
Quiz enabled
LMS standard SCORM Template default (have also tried the Captivate 4 template i found)
Manifest version 1.2
Mastery Score 100
Reporting Status Complete/Incomplete
Report to LMS Percent
Chose Report Data Slide Views Only Slide Completion 100
Reporting Level Report Score
LMS Customerization Settings
Never Send Resume Data checked.
I really just need the Sum Total box to appear after the last slide or at least set it so that I can control a set time that it appears.

Whenever I hear someone having issues getting an LMS to work with Complete/Incomplete, suggest they try using Pass/Fail instead. Call me cynical, but I've seen so many people have problems with getting it to work reliably that I've grown to be very distrustful of Complete/Incomplete as a solution for LMS tracking.
Also, try testing what happens if you add a scored button on that last slide which the user must click to indicate they've completed the module. See if adding such an interactive object to the last slide will delay the appearance of that nuisance Sum Total dialog.
I wish I could get hold of a trial or developer setup for Sum Total and run it on my development machine. Too many people report issues with getting Captivate to work reliably in Sum Total, yet Captivate content seems to work fine for most other LMSs. I find this intriguing.

Using Director as an E-learning solution

Ive used director solidly over the years to create standalone
"kiosk" style packages for clients, but am interested in seeing how
Director stands up when tracking results out to an LMS system.
I have found the "Lesson Builder" app, but cannot find a
necessary component: AICCTracking_for_Director.html which needs to
be installed inorder for the program to talk to an AICC complaint
LMS.
The only help I have found so far is on this technote
here
but the .zip file it points me to is apparently corrupt.
Does anyone have a working version? Or any suggestions on
Director as a competent e-learning/LMS tracking authoring tool?

I am having the same trouble with the .zip file. I've been
looking for the html, java script, and other files to allow
Director to communicate with an AICC compliant LMS but have not
been able to find them anywhere other than the corrupt .zip file.
Is there another location to download the files?

Flash to html to flash

I've read how to send a variable TO html and how to retrieve
a variable FROM html, but how do I do this in one swoop? I'm just
testing now, but I want to send text to a variable (to html) by
clicking a button in flash, then have another text field show that
same text at the same time.
I know that it is being sent by testing (an alert()) but the
textfield is not updating. Please help.

That is correct. This is just a test for functionality,
ultimately it's preparing for LMS/tracking project.
The user clicks the button, and text is sent to javascript.
At the same time, flash reads that variable and displays the text.
That variable is saved somewhere for later use.
I have it working now, but I can only send text once, then on
a second click I get an HTML error.
