LMS3.2 - Campus User Tracking - Configure Subnet Acquisition

Hi,
under
"Campus User Tracking - Aministration - Acquisition - Configure Subnet Acquisition"
Then I have the window with "Perform subnet based acquisition", there is the list with "Available Subnets"
1.     From where are coming these subnets?
2.     Where can I configure this list, add/delete subnets?
Regards Marcus

These subnets come from the routers that Campus Manager is managing.  You cannot manually add subnets to this list.  They will be discovered automatically from the devices managed by Campus.

  • Campus User Tracking Quick report of wan location

    Hi All,
I have one WAN location for which I am not getting campus user tracking for the end host.
I added all the WAN location switches in cisco works and getting logging report. But when
I tried to pull up end host report via IP ADDRESS or hostname it says end host not found.
    Any help would be appriciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    Samir

Do the end hosts show up by MAC?  Can you search for end hosts based on the remote switch name or IP?  In order for UT to display IP information, the ARP cache of the remote router needs to be populated and pollable via SNMP.  That means the remote router needs to be managed by Campus Manager.

  • Campus User Tracking Quick report

    Hi All,
I'm new to Cisco works and I'm trying to generate a report and wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction.
I am trying to run report via campus user tracking --> quick report with the vlad id.
But my problem is, for some of the vlan I can't get the report, as I know we have lot's end hosts in that vlan.
Our network consists of bridge vlan of 200-210 from core switch --- distribution switch -- access switch.
I am getting report for my 205 vlan but not for others.
Thanks for your reply in advance.

  • Campus manager user tracking problem

Hi We are using LMS 3.0.1 and the campus manager verson is 5.0.2. We have two subnet which are used for the management ip of switch kept in two different geographical areas. I have made the entry of all devices kept in both subnets and all the devices are know device in DCR, RME and DFM. also after data collection the devices are shown in campus manager database. But I am not able to learn the end host details of the hosts connected to one of our segment.
even if the perticular subnet is not appearing in "campus user tracking" as well as the devices belongs to the subnet. but I am getting all end host details from the second subnet.
    please help.

    Hi clarke,
i have updated the cm to the latest but still it did not learn. Later i added the 10.188.7.x ip addresses manually in the discovery settings instead of " *.*.*.* " - ip range. Now i am able to see these devices in topology view > layer 2 veiw as connected devices & not seen in unconnected..
Now i need to see the hostname, ip address etc details of these segments in UT acquisition window.... Secondly in topology view, the core switch is showing in "?" question mark symbol. This device is WS-C6509-E (sup-bootdisk:s72033-ipbase-mz.122-33.SXH3a.bin). I tried to delete this device from common services and added it again, there i selected "ws-c6509", i did not see the " ws-c6509-E".
in Cisco site, the serial number of the device is showing as the device "VS-C6509E-S720-10G"
Can u pls help me on this..
    regards

  • LMS 3.2 gives Application error during Campur User tracking

    Hi All,
As per the subject during Campus User Tracking following error comes.
    Application error: URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "ogs_server_urn" : Not found !!..
Please let me know if anybody has solution for this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Samir

    this looks like CSCsz79649
I assume at least one of the ctm_config.txt files became corrupted.
have a look at the file ctm_config.txt in both these locations:
        NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/campus/WEB-INFlib
        NMSROOT/MDC/tomcat/webapps/cmapps/WEB-INF/lib
and compare the content to the clean files Joe posted in this thread:
        https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3153454#3153454
    Note: the parameter DYNAMIC_PORT_ALLOCATION=0 can be added to both files;
If your files (or at least one) are different, then stop the daemon manager. When services are stopped, replace the corrupted file with the one Joe posted. Also move the ctmregistry and ctmregistry.backup files in these directories to a location outside NMSROOT (like C:\Windos\tmp)
    Restart the daemon manager.
If everything is working you can remove the ctmregistry and ctmregisry.backup files you previously moved to C:\Windows\tmp

  • User Tracking empty "UserName" field

    Hi,
Does anyone know why the 'User name' column in Campus User Tracking Report is empty.
How CiscoWorks reads the UserName from Windows stations?
    Thanks.

You need the utlite script to run on the users PC to make it upload the username.
It is usually made part of the login script on the DC

  • Ciscoworks User Tracking Acquisition Issue

    Hello,
I am currently using Campus Manager 4.0.6. When I go into my User Tracking I noticed only certain subnets were discovered. How do I set it up so I will find all my subnets?
    Thanks you
    -M-

Your version of Campus Manager had a bug in which Data Collection would crash, thus leading to no more topology or UT updates.  I highly recommend you upgrade to Campus Manager 4.0.13, then run a new Campus Data Collection followed by a new UT acquisition.  You should be in good shape.

  • Campus Manager User Tracking Report - dot1xEnabled = False

The Campus Manager User Tracking Report has the dot1xEnabled field that is always false.
It was my understanding that the switch will send SNMP Trap Notifications to Cisco Works regarding the status of 802.1x authentication per port.
    We have configured per port:
    snmp trap mac-notification added
    snmp trap mac-notification removed
    and globally
    snmp-server host x.x.x.x  abababa udp-port 1431 MAC-Notification
With no success, so we opened a TAC case, 614376387 and we were told by TAC and the Development Engineers that this "feature" does not work in LMS 3.2 and Campus Manager 5.2.1 and that this feature will be available in the next new release.
I thought I had read on this forum that some folks have this 'feature' working, where this field shows the current status of 802.1x per access port.
Has anyone been able to get this 'feature' to work?  And if so, what versions are you running and what were the 'tricks' to get it working?
    Much appreciated.

The MAC address notification traps only alert Campus to the fact that a MAC address has been learned or removed from a given port.  That starts the dynamic UT process.  With no other information, you will potentially see a new record appear in UT shortly after receiving the trap.  However, that record will not have IP or username data associated with it.
To get the IP data, Campus will poll the CISCO-DHCP-SNOOPING-MIB to pull IP data.  To get username data, Campus will poll the IEEE8021-PAE-MIB of the switch to get dot1x information.  So, your switch must be configured for dot1x, and it must support this MIB (in particular, the objects dot1xAuthSessionTime, dot1xAuthSessionUserName, and dot1xPaePortCapabilities).
Without dot1x, hope is not lost.  If the end host is running Windows and the UTLite tool, then when the user logs in, UTLite should start from their logon script, and send a UDP update to Campus with the username and IP of the host.

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1, user tracking acquisition problem.

    Hello.
We are using Catalyst 3750 with 12.2(44)SE. We have two stack configured, one with IP routing enabled.
When we try to run an Acquisition Action on IP routing enabled stack, from Admin> Collection Settings> User Tracking, the system replies with an error "Failed to start acquisition: Device unreachable. Please enter a valid device".
Acquisition starts successfully when we try with the other stack.
    We are going to investigate!
    Any suggestions is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Regards.
    Andrea

You aren't using SNMP v3 perchance are you? If you are, you need to use contexts. Reference this thread.
Have you tried initiating a full data collection and been successful? Reference this thread.
If neither of these suggestions works, the latter thread linked above has some more detailed troubleshooting suggestions.
    Hope this helps.

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1, user tracking acquisition problem on 3750 stack.

    Hello.
We are using Catalyst 3750 switch stacks with software 12.2(44)SE. We have two stacks, only one with IP routing enabled.
When we try to run an Acquisition Action on this, from Admin> Collection Settings> User Tracking, the system replies with an error "Failed to start acquisition: Device unreachable. Please enter a valid device".
Device Center reports "success" on all collector status.
Acquisition starts successfully when we try with the other stack.
With LMS 4.1 demo, users acquisition runs successfully.
    Any suggestions is appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Regards.
    Andrea

    Hello Andrea,
just wanted to let you know that I have fixed that for our system. I reinitated the UT Database with the following command:
    /opt/CSCOpx/bin/perl /opt/CSCOpx/campus/bin/reinitdb.pl -restore -ut -all
It's important to call perl with the full path, otherwise it will completely fail.
    Hope this will help you.
    Greetings

  • LMS4 user tracking dynamic update switch configuration

So there is a tool that is supposed to configure switches to send mac notification traps:
Admin => Collection Settings => User Tracking => Device Trap Configuration
    When I try this on a 3560, 3560X, 2960S or 2960X stack I receive the following message:
Command Not Found - Device trap configuration commands are not found for device(s) <ip address>
I was able to get it to run on a 3550-12G, though it didn't quite get the configuration command right.
    Is this tool defunct?
    Thanks,
    -Jeff

What exact LMS version are you using?
As you said the configuration wasn't right and had incorrect commands on 3550-12G, what was it? Please share the commands configured on it.
You can verify which command LMS should ideally use, from this document :
List of Commands to Enable MAC Notification Traps on Devices
You can check the file MACCommands.XML from NMSROOT/campus/etc/cwsi/ from where LMS picks the MAC commands.
You can share this file and also check yourself if it has the correct commands as per the device sysObjectID.
If the device and its sysObjectID has missing entry, it may have the error coming as null.
    -Thanks

  • LMS3.2 User Tracking IP Phones Discovery Doesn't Work

I am having difficulty getting the User tracking for IP Phones to work correctly in Ciscoworks LMS 3.2.
Callmanager is version 7.1.5.10000-12.  Campus manager version is 5.2.1
The Callmanager publisher and two subscribers are all showing as application servers with green icons under the topology services view.
The callmanagers show as CDP neighbours on the switches to which they are connected.
I can do an SNMP walk of the ccmPhoneTable from the Ciscoworks devicecenter and get a ton of returned data.
The IP phones are discovered as end hosts and have mac address and IP address info when checked in the User Tracking utility.
    Callmanager sysObjectID = OID: CISCO-PRODUCTS-MIB::ciscoMCS7835I
Any help you could give with troubleshooting would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Rob

    Thanks Nick,
I had seen that document and been through the processes
The mac and IP addresses of the ip phone are discovered.
The callmanagers are discovered and have green application server icons in the topolgy view
I can do an snmpwalk of the ccmPhoneTable OID and get returned data (as per this post by JClarke https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/664859#664859)
I can't do an snmpwalk of the ccmPhoneExtension as described in that document but I assume that since it applies to campus manager 3.2 and 3.3 that it is a bit dated and not relevant to later versions of callmanager.
I think that I have covered all the basic cdp/snmp and discovery issues.  Any suggestions on where to go from here would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Rob

  • User tracking acquisition

    Hello,
every time i try to start the User Tracking on the campus manager page i get this error :
Construction of XML data required for UT is in progress. Please try after some time
i waited 2 days.. and i still get the same error
    any ideas ?
    Thanks

This is a known bug (CSCtg20882 or CSCtd49439 or CSCtc49719).  If you contact TAC, they can provide you patches to correct this problem.

  • LMS 4.2.4 User Tracking Acquisitions Info almost empty

    Hi ,
I reinstalled lms because I had problems on the server, they are now more than a month that the new use but I have trouble seeing the hosts connected to a switch or rather I see only a few. The settings are identical to the old man all by default, but with the old man had acquired many hosts. I suggested a way to make a little troubleshooting. I attach screensshot.
    Thanks Emiliano
the old had over 5000 acquisitions

When a fresh installed LMS is working properly for all the modules, like Inventory, config, fault, performance etx, it could be something on this module which is responsible for Data collection.
It doesn't have much data which can be lossed, it can be easily taken as the first step to verify and rule out any possibilites of DB not working properly.
    Also, you can share :
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\portsData.xml
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\RouterData.xml
    NMSROOT\campus\etc\cwsi\vlanData.xml
These files have essential entries to be used by User tracking.
    -Thanks
