LMS4 + DFM timing for SNMP3

Hello,
Have the problem (LMS4 + newest CS and DFM device package) that I get just 10% of DCR devices discovered in DFM and just a little bit increased with max. SNMP timeout.
All DFM Unknown devices are SNMP timeouted in DFM, but could be discovered in CM and RME inventory.
Because SNMPv3-AuthPriv could be much slower than v2 for a lot of devices, I wanted to try with a better timing for it.
But in DFM-Admin GUI I cant lower retries count not less than 3 and cant increase timeout more than 30s.
What can I do to get all devices managed in DFM as well?
Steffen

I doubt the problem is really an SNMP timeout.  If other features in LMS can manage the devices, make sure that the devices can be pinged from the LMS server.  The fault management piece of LMS is the only feature that requires devices to be ICMP reachable.  If the managed IPs of the devices cannot be pinged, DFM will not be able to manage them.
Also, make sure the SNMP engineIDs are unique across all devices.  Run the "show snmp engine" command on all devices, and confirm the value is unique.  If not, you will need to set the engineID to a unique value, then reboot the device.  Unmanage the device from fault management, then re-manage it.

  • DFM alert for shutting down a port?

I am using LMS 3.2, and when are shutting down a port, I don't receive any alerts. Is there any alert for administratively shutting down a port of a device?

DFM criteria for a interface down is
ifOperStatus = down and ifAdminStatus = up.  If you down the interface then ifAdminStatus will be down and not up, so DFM does not treat this an alarmed event.

  • LMS4, DFM, remove and re-add single device

A couple of times now I found that devices have gotten into DFM before the DNS was updated with the device name. A simple rediscover of the device does not pick up the device DNS name in DFM (in LMS it does ofcourse).
Also somethimes devices are stuck in learing or move to questioned without ever really trying to rediscover.
In LMS 3.2 it was possible to remove such single devices from DFM and to bring them back from the DCR later on. (no impact on configurations, map, groups, etc)
Is there a way in LMS4 to do this? A CLI method is what I'm looking for as I can see it is no longer possible in the GUI.
I'm aware I can turn of and on faultmanagement but I that is quite impacting where you have several hundred devices
    Cheers,
    Michel.

    Hi Joe,
Is there any update on bringing back the ability to remove devices from DFM in LMS 4.2.2?
The scenario I have is there are a couple of devices that do not exist in DCR but are in DFM. My install of DFM has had some issues until recently and I deleted these devices some time ago from DCR but they were never removed from DFM. I now have DCR and DFM syncing ok but these are the remnants that need to be removed
Your above solution can't work in this case because the devices are already unmanaged and deleted.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Timing for Data Acquisition Using Notifiers

I'm trying to use notifiers to transfer data from an acquisition (master) loop to the slave loop. I want data to be transferred for analysis only when the VI is in a certain state - not in all states. That's why I'm preferring to use notifiers instead of queues (I want all data collected during the other states to be disregarded). I have attached a simplified version of what I'm trying.
The master loop generates a data point every second. The slave loop is in a "delay" state for 5 seconds and then in "acquire" state for 3 seconds. Given this architecture I would expect no data for 5 seconds and then 3 data points to be plotted during "acquire" state because only one data point is generated per second. But for some reason I get 5 or 6 data points during every acquire cycle. I haven't figured out why I get 5-6 data points instead of 3. It probably has to do with the timing functions I'm using.
    Thanks!

Here is an example of a race condition without the use of local or global variables.  What is happening is that the notifier is already queued up with a value even before the Elapsed Timer has even started.  So one extra value will be in the output array.  Also, depending on how the parallel loops perform (which goes first), there may be an extra value queued up before the Time Elapsed event could fire.  Typically, when I ran it, I got an array size of 6 at first, and then it went down to 5.  Clearly the architecture is not right for what you want to do.  Instead of depending on timers and parallel loop timing, you could receive all the values queued and just discard the ones you don't want.

  • DFM Alerts for B-channel backup on Fax

Hi, every time a fax gets sent, this alert is coming from LMS, as the router b-channel interfaces come up.
LMS is complaining that a backup interface had to kick in on the gateway router, and clears after about 5 minutes. I see the router up/up for this duration, then up/down and status cleared.
I have no experience with voice yet, but am assuming this is normal behaviour for call setup and teardown when a fax is sent, right? Should I ignore this and turn off the DFM alert?

By default, DFM classifies ISDN interfaces as dial backup.  Obviously this is not the case for this fax interface.  You can configure one of the DFM customizable interface groups to match this particular ISDN interface, and then prioritize that group so that it comes before the built-in Dial Backup group.  After applying the changes, this event should stop being generated.

  • Can I change the display timing for my wallpaper?

Apologies if this has been asked and answered. I tried several searches and couldn't find anything.
I teach project management, and during breaks, I have my desktop set to display pictures from my travels. I normally set it to "change picture: every 5 seconds." However, my students will generally ask for some commentary, and for many of the photos, 5 seconds is really too short.
Is there any way for me to add another option to the choices in System Preferences for 7 seconds? Failing that, is there any way for me to change the 5 second timing to 7 seconds?

This is a pictorial teardown of a rMBP. In Step 15, you can see the motherboard with the GPU chip firmly soldered to it. While the GPU is often called a graphics card, as is the ATI Radeon 5870 in my Mac Pro, it's a discrete graphics chip, as opposed to the graphics portion of the CPU which your rMBP also has.

  • Music timing for a slideshow in imovie

I am new to imovie, and mac as far as that goes! I am trying to generate a stills slideshow in imovie and getting more frustrated by the moment. The timing of each frame should be adjustable by clicking on the little clock symbol in the bottom left of the frame. When I attempt to change it, nothing happens. I type in the change...it registers the change, but DOESN'T change for preview. AAAHHHHH!
    Anyone familiar with this problem?

Look at your project preferences. You can set a default timing. If there is a checkmark next to "Apply to all stills in Project", remove the checkmark. This will let you edit the time of each still individually.
If you upgrade to iMovie 09, you can set beat markers in the music and have your photos snap to the beat markers.

  • Slideshow  with individual timing for each photo just does NOT work!

i am in slideshow mode with all the jpegs on top
    i go to settings
it has DEFAULT settings for the entire slideshow
it does not say each photo gets its own timing.
the arrows for the transition direction are greyed out
am i the only one who cant get this?
where does it say set a time for each individual photo
at the end of my rope
OT or anyone have you got a way to explain how to get individual timings for each jpeg in a slideshow ( source )

yeah i got it working and it certainly can be done in iphoto
there is so much arduous work one has to do to learn these i lives!!!!
you first send it to DVD
    then it lands in iphoto
and you can absolutely do what you said one cant cos i just did it.
what a day all day long a learning curve for sure.

  • Dfm alerts for operationallydown

    Hi All,
im having lms 4.2.2 and monitoring a cisco 7600 router interface ten gigabit ethernet x/x under dfm. When ever the interface is down due to any media issue i am not getting any alerts in dfm., the interface used to go down for more than 10 minutes. I am able to do an snmpwalk to this interface when the interface was down and getting the value as 2(for down). I am getting other information and configuration mode alerts in dfm for this device. please help to fix the problem.

Can you verify that the interface is managed for monitoring the faults? Go to
Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Fault Device Details
select the device in the "Device Selector" and click "View"
in the table that opens, there is a column "Device Name"; in this column, click on the device name and a new window opens with "Device Details"
search the interface and check, that the mangement state is "true"

  • Network error 10060 client timed - for only a particular Application!

    Hi All,
I'm getting the following error when I try to connect to Essbase from Excel sheet but for only a particular Application & Database:
network error [10060]: Unable to connect to [server_name_xxx:1423]. the client timed out waiting to connect to essbase agen TCP/IP........
I'm able to connect to other applications/dbs residing on the same server. But I get this error only for this particular application.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks.

you will receive this error if the data cannot be retrieved within the appropriate timeout window. If your query is big, or you have less/no aggregations on the cube (ASO) , Addin will wait upto certain period and throw time out error. You can try following tips
    1. Change essbase.cfg file. Increase "NETDELAY" and "NETRETRY COUNT" to 300000 ( 5 mins) and restart services.
    2. Open registry editor in you mechine and navigate to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" and add/edit the following DWord items:
    ReceiveTimeout 300000
    KeepAliveTimeout 300000
    ServerInfoTimeout 300000
    * note: The timeout values in the registry are in milliseconds. So 300000 is the equivalent of 5 minutes
Is your application is a BSO or ASO?

  • Can i set the timing for individual photos in a slideshow

there are text pages that need to be read but not at a 4 second speed
it has to be slower more time
syncing to music i compose is a must
can each individual photo have its own time
i hope so or else they ruined a wonderful product
    with this limitation

    Glen:
Yes, you can. Under the slide there's a button titled "Adjust'. Click on it and you can set the time for that slide, the transition, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Timing for QT in 6.5, music background

    1.  I have a short presentation with a video and an animation.  In exporting to Quicktime, I selected 8 seconds for the interval between slides and that works, except for my video which fades to white and then we wait the 8 seconds.  The same with the last image in the animation, same interval.  Any suggestions, please.
    2.  I have a 14 minute music clip that stops at slide 10 of 12 (2+ minute presentation) every time I edit the presentation.  I have dumped it and reloaded it and that works sometimes, but more often than not, it stops at about 2 minutes.  Any suggestions, please.

    Hello,
i have the same problem - have presentation with inserted audio (over 7 minutes, mp3) which functions perfectly in Keynote, but by exporting into Quicktime, the music plays only 2 minutes. Did you solve it somehow??? Does anybody know where is the problem?

  • Lenovo - can we get an idea on timing for drivers for windows 7?

I know the standard answer - soon after the final version ships. However, I also know that OEMs and Microsoft are working hard to make sure drivers are available at launch. So how about some love here and let us folks leaning into the wind test some of the upcoming drivers for windows 7?
There's only one listed at the Lenovo Windows 7 beta drivers site, and I just have to believe there are more.
    Thanks!

Well, we do have this beta OS to work with, Lenovo has a Win 7 discussion list, let's have some unsupported beta drivers to test.
You can't tell me that Lenovo is sitting on its hands waiting for the gold version of Win 7 to work on drivers.

  • Trade in Timing for Iphone 6 Promotion

This has probably been asked and answered somewhere else, but I cant find it.
I will try to explain my situation.  I would like to take advantage of the iPhone 6 trade in offer.  As I understand it, I can trade in my IPhone 4 and receive $200 credit to go towards the iPhone 6.  Which will basically make it free with a 2 year contract.
I called Verizon customer service and was told to take the following steps:
    1 Preorder the iPhone 6
2 Wait until I get the phone, then go online to fill out the forms to do a trade in
3 Send the phone in to get the $200 credit.
That seemed pretty straight forward until I started going through the process.
The delivery date on the iPhone 6 I chose was 10/121.  I went to the trade in section to check out what I need to do there and it stated that I need to submit the trade in forms by 9/30 to take advantage of the $200 trade in offer.
So my question is this.  How am I supposed to trade in my iPhone 4 before I get the iPhone 6?  That makes no sense at all.  Was the customer service Rep correct with the steps she gave me.  She told me not to fill out the forms until I got the new iPhone 6.  Or is the wording incorrect on the Verizon Trade in page?
I have now pre ordered my phone and would really like to take advantage of this offer since that was the main reason why I felt I could make this purchase.
I think Verizon needs to be more clear on this process.
Thanks for your comments on this subject.
    James

jamesliston You can fill out the trade in info now and then wait until you get your phone and activate it (deactivate the old one, remove find my phone etc.) and then mail in the old phone.  Here is the email I recieved from verizon after filling out the trade in request:
Your postage-paid, self-addressed envelope will arrive within 5 business days. Before sending your used device:
    1
Disconnect your wireless service from all device
    2
Remove personal information, data, and user locks
    3
    Remove memory and SIM card
Please use the self-addressed prepaid envelope we send you. Simply seal the envelope with your device in it and drop it off at any USPS location.
Once we receive your device we will confirm the appraised value and email your Verizon Wireless electronic gift card within 2 weeks.
The appraised value includes a promotional offer that requires a purchase of an iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus on Verizon Wireless by 9/30/2014. Trade-in device must be mailed to Verizon Wireless within 7 days after receiving the new iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus but no later than 11/15/2014.
