Lmtpd crashing approx once an hour

We have just moved over to a New Xeon 4x2.66Ghz Xserve running 10.4.8
I have just noticed in the lmptd.crash.log that about once an hour the following gets logged.
Can anyone shed some light onto what might be causing this issue?? I have aslo included postconf -d below.

First I'd like to thank you for all you do for us on this board. I have used your advice on many occasions.
I am experiencing a problem similar to Tony's. LMTP crashes once or twice an hour:

The crash logs look the same as Tony's first post in this thread. If I look at the crash time in the SMTP log, there are always entries that look like this:
Feb 22 11:50:57 Xserve postfix/pipe[16829]: 3BD9318E1660: to=<[email protected]>, relay=cyrus, delay=98545, status=deferred (temporary failure)

Given the "postfix/pipe" I was excited to see the "rejectunauthpipelining" command in your Front-line Spam Defense document (http://osx.topicdesk.com/downloads/). (As an aside, I think there is an error in the document: my Xserve asked me to place an equal sign after "checkheloaccess").
I carried out all your instructions in that document, and yet I am still getting these crashes. Any other thoughts.
Thanks very much,
Joe

  • Fireworks CS5 crashing over once an hour.

I have a new IMAC and creative suite. My FW seems to crash multiple times an hour. I uninstalled, cleaned up Adobe files and reinstalled. Still same issue.
Any other person have this issue and if so how did you solve it?

  • My computer crashed and once restored I could only sync purchased content. I dont want to lose my non-ITunes puchased content. What can I do?

My  computer crashed and once restored I could only sync "purchased content". I dont want to lose over 500 songs. My ITunes file now only contained the "purchased content" items. My Ipod Touch still contains all the original music. HELP!!  How can I download music from my IPod Touch and somehow get it into my computer (ITunes Lirbary)...... Can I down load my content to a computer that does not have ITunes installed?

See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to copy content (including non-iTunes purchased content) from your iPod back to your PC.

  • My iPhone 4 (iOS 5) freezes at least once an hour.

My iPhone freezes at least once an hour. I'll go to swipe-to-unlock and as soon as I reach the right side of the slide, the phone freezes up and I have to do a hard reset. This also (frequently) happens when I'm trying to answer a call.
I have updated the software and I have done full restores more than once, to no avail. This wasn't happening under iOS 4.

This is a issue with the iPhone 4s and 4, and i believe any device operating on iOS 5 and up. This happened to my iPhone 4 when i upgraded to iOS5, my new 4s, and my moms 4 does the same thing. The software just freezes randomly. Sometimes it's in safari, some times its in the photos app, some times it's in the music app. The only way to get it to run again is to hold down the home and sleep button to reset it. I have tried reformatting my phones from scratch as well and they still did the same thing. Hope apple fixes this soon.

Safari - "web pages not responding" about once an hour. I'm about to switch to Chrome if I can't fix this. Help?

Regarding #1, your post says you have a beta version of Firefox 4. That may well be incorrect, but that is why the site says you do not have the latest version.
Losing graphics on the bookmarks toolbar and not having a working back button are not normal, but I'm not sure whether you want to troubleshoot Firefox 4, roll back to Firefox 3.6, or just move on.
    How can we help?

  • Refresh portlet report more frequently than once per hour

When you publish a report from discoverer in the portal, you can tell it to automatically refresh, but the most frequent refresh it allows is once per hour. Is there some way I can refresh a report more frequently than that? Can I use the scheduled workbook functionality to achieve this, since in there you can schedule it to run as frequently as once per minute.
    I'm using Discoverer 10.1.2.
    Thanks
    -Nissim

    These are two different schedulers...
We are considering changing the UI to let the users specify a schedule frequency more frequent than once an hour. But that is in a future, as yet undecided release.
For the time being, you can resort to hacks to refresh Discoverer portlers more frequently than an hour. Some information on the same is available on Metalink. I shall see if I can publish in the next few days a blog post on how to do that. Of course you have to realize that something like this is not encouraged or supported.
    Thanks

I don't build array continuously. I just build a few queues. I am sorry the program is too large to show it to you. I have read the dump file. It seems like memory overflow. Do you think so? But it seems like there is no chance for memory overflow in Labview. The dump file is as below:

  • Frequent crashes, almost once everyday, mostly while watching video. Suggestions?

My Macbook has been crashing almost once a day (or more), everyday. I typically only use Firefox and AIM, so I do not believe it is a load problem. However, I do use Youtube frequently and am wondering if this is a problem when compounded with Firefox. Also, it has been humid lately and thought that it might be a temperature issue.
Can anyone recommend a course of action?
    Thank you,
    Joe

    Let's start with this:
Kappy's Personal Suggestions for OS X Maintenance
For disk repairs use Disk Utility.  For situations DU cannot handle the best third-party utilities are: Disk Warrior;  DW only fixes problems with the disk directory, but most disk problems are caused by directory corruption; Disk Warrior 4.x is now Intel Mac compatible. TechTool Pro provides additional repair options including file repair and recovery, system diagnostics, and disk defragmentation.  TechTool Pro 4.5.1 or higher are Intel Mac compatible;  Drive Genius is similar to TechTool Pro in terms of the various repair services provided.  Versions 1.5.1 or later are Intel Mac compatible.
OS X performs certain maintenance functions that are scheduled to occur on a daily, weekly, or monthly period. The maintenance scripts run in the early AM only if the computer is turned on 24/7 (no sleep.) If this isn't the case, then an excellent solution is to download and install a shareware utility such as Macaroni, JAW PseudoAnacron, or Anacron that will automate the maintenance activity regardless of whether the computer is turned off or asleep.  Dependence upon third-party utilities to run the periodic maintenance scripts had been significantly reduced in Tiger and Leopard.  These utilities have limited or no functionality with Snow Leopard and should not be installed.
OS X automatically defragments files less than 20 MBs in size, so unless you have a disk full of very large files there's little need for defragmenting the hard drive. As for virus protection there are few if any such animals affecting OS X. You can protect the computer easily using the freeware Open Source virus protection software ClamXAV. Personally I would avoid most commercial anti-virus software because of their potential for causing problems.
I would also recommend downloading the shareware utility TinkerTool System that you can use for periodic maintenance such as removing old logfiles and archives, clearing caches, etc.  Other utilities are also available such as Onyx, Leopard Cache Cleaner, CockTail, and Xupport, for example.
For emergency repairs install the freeware utility Applejack.  If you cannot start up in OS X, you may be able to start in single-user mode from which you can run Applejack to do a whole set of repair and maintenance routines from the commandline.  Note that AppleJack 1.5 is required for Leopard. AppleJack 1.6 is compatible with Snow Leopard.
When you install any new system software or updates be sure to repair the hard drive and permissions beforehand. I also recommend booting into safe mode before doing system software updates.
Get an external Firewire drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
    Backuplist
    Carbon Copy Cloner
    Data Backup
    Deja Vu
    iBackup
    JaBack
    Silver Keeper
    MimMac
    Retrospect
    Super Flexible File Synchronizer
    SuperDuper!
    Synchronize Pro! X
    SyncTwoFolders
    Synk Pro
    Synk Standard
    Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQs on maintenance, optimization, virus protection, and backup and restore.
Additional suggestions will be found in Mac Maintenance Quick Assist.

  • Home sharing drops out about once an hour

Hi I have a brand new, week old 3rd Gen Rev A Apple TV and about once an hour the home sharing drops out stopping whatever we are watching.
Router is a netgear cg814wg v3 located about 15-20 metres away from the Apple TV, Computer is running iTunes 11.4.0.18.

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
The following article(s) may help you.
    Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    Recommended Wi-Fi settings
    Sources of Interference
Wifi Diagnostic Software (for Mac users)
You may also find some help on this page, where I’ve collected some of the more unusual solutions to network issues.

  • IMac beeps once every hour (about)

I know there's tons of discussions on iMac & what the beeping sequences mean. I've read many of them & they all pertain mainly to either 3 beeps or beeps upon starting MacBook Pro's.
My iMac I never turn off & it beeps about once every hour, or there abouts. I bought it used (2012) & I have an external Lacie 1TB Porsche Design hard drive for my Time Machine. Nothing different than what I had on my older 2008 iMac.
I don't believe it's a RAM issue but I could be wrong. The system works perfectly no issue's except for the annoying 1 beep every hour (or so).
Could the motherboard be going out or power supply? It's a 2012 so it would be hard for me to believe either would be going out already right?

It's possible that one of your login items is causing the problem. Select the Login Items tab in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. Delete any items that you don't recognize.

  • Grey screen and all apps crash at once

New iMac 27" + EIZO display + WACOM Cintiq 13HD
While using Adobe CC (Photoshop or Lightroom so far) all the applications freeze for a second, and then crash AT ONCE (Finder, adobe, skype - everything), then grey screen, then everything starts loading up from scratch (drivers, apps, Finder etc.)
It happened three times in two days.

any ideas what may be causing this, I tried to search but no luck.

    I did some more testing:
    1. The Crash happens about 30 minutes after turning on Screen Sharing on SKYPE. Not using skype = no crashes for a week.
    2. The desktop sharing causes the GPU to fail:

  • Connection lost after approx. 1 hour

    Hi
I have a weird problem when streaming from iTunes to my two Airport Express. When I have rebooted/started up the computer or the D-Link (DI-524UP) router I can listen to the music for approx. 1 hour, then the connection is lost permanently. If I then reboot the router the connection is resumed and it plays for another hour.
    Any thoughts?
Also, I am considering changing the router, any recommendations of a good stable wireless router that works in a Windows XP/Vista and Airport Express environment?
    Thanks
    Mathias

As AppleMan says, Finalize renders your movie in every available size.
If you only want one particular size then instead use Share > Export Movie.. and choose your size there.

    Other things to look at:
Intel LAN, RealTek, your graphics driver, look at what you installed, check msconfig and disable everything there for now you don't need, leaving just basics and your AV program.
    Run system file checker -
    sfc /scannow
Schedule a chkdsk on your drive.
There are forums and sites for guides and FAQs.
