Load balancing MS Winsock Proxy Server on WebNS 5.0

Does anyone know what needs to be done on the service/content rule configuration to support Winsock Proxy requests from client to VIP for load balancing to work?

Here is a link that may be helpful in configuring the CSS:

  • Load balancing by the proxy plugin

    Has anyone encountered this before:
I have a cluster of two WLS 5.1 servers, hosting servlets that serve web
requests. The requests are proxied through a web server ( I have tried
Weblogic, Apache as well as IIS). I also have a tool that simulates
concurrent web requests and fires them to the proxy server.
As per documentation, as the load balancing while proxying requests to
servlets is round robin, I expect that the requests are uniformly
distributed across the two weblogic servers. But what I see is a bit
different. In one case I fired 15 requests and found that 11 went to first
server and 4 went to the other.
Second time when I fired again 2 of them went to the first server and 13 to
the second one. I would expect that around half of the total requests
should be routed to each server everytime so that there is a proper load
balancing done by the proxy. I have not changed any configuration related
to the default load balancing algorithm. So I expect it is round-robin.
Has anyone encountered this before ? This happens to me irrespective of
which proxy server I use (i.e which proxy plugin I use). Is there some
other configuration required and I am missing something or is there some
inherent problem with the load balancing of the proxy plugins. Any info
    would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks

Could you post this in weblogic.developer.interest.plug-in? This group is for

  • Load  Balancing Oracle BI Presentation Server with OC4J

    Hello All,
Is there a way to perform Load Balancing Oracle BI Presenation Server the way we do with IIS (defining in ISAPIConfig.XML file)?

  • Switch-independent load-balancing NIC teaming on server-side and MAC/ARP flapping on L2/L3 switches

Since active deployment of Windows Server 2012, our servers support team began to utilize new feature - switch-independent load-balancing NIC teaming. At first look it seems great - no additional network configuration is required and load balancing is performed by server itself by sending frames in round-robin or some hash algorithm out from different NICs (say two for simplicity) but with same MAC address. Theoretical bandwith is now grown up to 2Gbps (if we have two 1G NICs per server) against failover NIC teaming configuration, when one of two adapters is always down.
But how does this affect (if does) switching and routing performance of network equipment? From point of view of L2 switch - it has to rewrite its CAM table each time a server sends frame from different NIC. Isn't it expensive operation? Won't it affect switching in a bad way? We see in our logs that same server make switches to change mac-to-port associations several times per second.
Well, and how does it affect routing, if the switch to which server is connected is L3 switch an performs routing for the subnet server connected to? Will CEF operate well if ARP entry chages several times per second?
    Thank you.

Since nobody answered here, we created service request and got the following answer (in short):
L2 MAC flapping between ports is very bad and you must avoid such configurations as much as possible. There is one possible variant that can be considered in your situation - use port-channel (either L2 or L3), in this configuration port-channel will be treted as single port and there won't be flapping.

  • Urgent: Load balance the shared services server

    Hello Experts,
One of my customer would like to know that is there a way to load balance the shared services server i.e., Register one essbase server with more than one Shared services server, so that if one shared services fails the other can authenticate the logins for the essbase server.
Also, referred the following weblink for 11x, Table 3. EPM System High Availability and Load Balancing Matrix
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/epm_high_avail_11111/frameset.htm?ch01s04.html
Do we have any docs for version 9x?
    Environment:
    Essbase 9.3.1.3.00
OS : IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-bit) 5.3
Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sonal

I would not attempt any changes until 9.3.1 service fix #16 is released.
Oracle is back-porting clusterware support to with service fix # 16.
HSS 9.3.1sf 16 "active passive failover cluster with Oracle Clusterware 11g, for hss web app and openldap"
Based on the Oracle escalated support resources I have been in touch with solutions are not supported. Please realize this is not load-balancing and is fail-over support only.
To my knowledge there is not a "active-active" 9.3.1 Shared Services that is supported by Oracle.
You can read more about an active-passive fail-over at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/pdf/epm-hss-high-avail-windows-whitepaper.pdf
They are supposed to release a 9.3.1 white paper once service fix #16 is fully released and has been client tested.

  • Load Balancing with Reverse Proxy Plug-in in SunOne 6.1

    Hello
we are configuring our reverse proxy web server SunOn 6.1 for load balancing and we have some conflicting information that we have found on the internet. The options we have found are the following:
1- In one case, it seems that all we need to do is add the destination servers to the servers parameter (quoted, space-delimited). We have read that the proxy server will simply round-robin requests.
2- In another case, we have seen that we have to use an loadbalancer.xml file with the server names and reference the file from both magnus.conf and obj.conf.
I have doubts about the second option because I really think this is configuration in 7.0 not 6.1.
Also, I also need to configure session stickiness but it is not clear how this works. There is an option for sticky cookies that defaults to JSESSIONID if not configured. Does this mean that I will have session stickiness but simply without the use of cookies?
ANY HELP? We need to solve this in the next day.

  • Load Balancing and WLS primary server offset

I've got a load balancer in front of my WLS cluster, and I'm trying to
set up load balancing based on WLS clustering. What I need to know to

In Memory session replication doesn't work without our plugins. I will have to
do little bit of investigation to figure out if other persistence mechanism's
would work without our plugins if you are interested in them. I have to remind
you though that other types of persistence mechanism's we support are slower
compared to in memory session replication.

Currently none. We are taking steps to make the plugin's and cluster more
robust, we currently don't have any plans to work with other 3rd party vendors.

This information is saved in the cookie. But I wouldn't count that, as we
have plans to change this. I cannot give your more details.

  • Load Balancing in Reverse Proxy  Mode

    Hi,
Is the HTTP Load Balancing function working only in the Routing context or works it generally. I set the SJWPS as a Reverse Proxy like this
    NameTrans fn="reverse-map" from="http://server1.domain.de" to="http://proxy.domain.de" rewrite-location="false" rewrite-content-location="false"
    NameTrans fn="map" from="http://proxy.domain.de" to="http://server1.domain.de" rewrite-host="false"
    NameTrans fn="map" from="/" to="http://server1.domain.de" rewrite-host="false"
Now the Proxy should do Load balancing with a second, mirrored server like http://server2.domain.de. How could I configure that?
    Please help me.

if you need to route / provide load balancing between 2 hosts, then you will need to have Route SAF . you can use web server 7 reverse proxy cli or gui to get this. however, you might want to start from a fresh configuration to avoid reverse-map / map that you have experimented with does not overlap with the 'Route' functionality that you seem to need here

  • Site not accessible from the Load balanced web front end server - sharepoint 2010

    I have a production environment with 2 WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2), 2 APP's and 2 SQL clustered VM's.
2 WFE's are load balanced using hardware load balancer.
An A-Record(PORTAL) is created in DNS for the virtual IP of the load balancer which points to the 2 WFE's.
A web application is created on the WFE's on port 80.
alternative access mapping is configured and the load balanced record "http://PORTAL" is used under the default zone.
Under IIS I have edited the bindings for the sharepoint site at port 80 and added the HOSTNAME as PORTAL.
Result: The site is accessible from outside the server and works fine.
ISSUE: The site is not accessible within the WFE's(sp-wfe1 & sp-wfe2).
When I browse the site from the WFE's server it ask for the credentials and when I enter the credentials and click OK it ask the credentials again and again and in the end displays a blank page.
Kindly help me in this issue because I am clueless and couldn't find anything helpful on the internet.

  • How to use the Load Balancer Plug-in to serve multiple domains

In SJSAS8.1 SE/EE the asadmin commands that create and maintain a load balancer configuration operate within a domain. When the load balancer configuration is exported an xml file is created that contains all the information for that domain. To make the load balancer plug-in balance the load for multiple domains, the loadbalancer.xml files can be manually merged to conatin the data that is exported from each domain's load balancer configuration.
For example, 2 domains are created, both having a load balancing configuration. After exporting both configurations using the asadmin export-http-lb-config command, the user would then cut and past the cluster information into the single loadbalancer.xml file that resides under the web server's config directory.
An example of the manually merged loadbalancer.xml file follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <loadbalancer>

  • Load Balancing And the Login Server

We have just added load balancing to our cluster of 30980 portal servers. The load balancing works only sporadically. We noticed a round-robin approach was taken in the configuration guides, which is not acceptable to our infrastructure team.
Questions: Is there a problem with using load balancers such as Resonate with Oracle portal? If not, should one machine in the cluster be specifically identified as the login server? Can they each act as login servers for any of the others?

I have had the same problem.
I think whoever programmed the logon routine at that point should be fired immediately and banned from programming for life! Logging on is a very basic and well-understood task, and programmed gozillions of times since 1940s. Common sense and unwritten rules of programming dictate simply if you make something case-sensitive, then you should accept an input in its original form (i.e. password in smalls, or whatever) but not change it to uppercase and then work case-sensitively. Either this, or you program everything case-insensitively.
Fire that programmer or give him to us gollumvoice

  • Need help with load balancing and DNS proxy

    Hi,
I need help on how to configure my router so it will work with my DNS proxy and load balancing.
I have a Linksys LRT224 router. I have two broadband connections from two separate ISPs,500Mbps each (WAN1 & WAN2). WAN1 has a static IP and WAN2 is dynamic assigned. I use Unlocator (www.unlocator.com) so I can access geographically restricted sites (Pandora, Netflix, etc.).
The problem I have is that unlocator registers only one IP address (WAN1 address) and since I am doing load balancing I have no way of knowing if the DNS request will go through the registered IP (WAN1) or through the other (WAN2). I am not an expert in routing or networking but I'm guessing I have a way of configuring the router so all the DNS requests go out through WAN1, right?
In the router's Dual WAN config page there is a section for Protocol Binding. I tried to configure but only managed to screw up the internet at home. I used:
    DNS[UDP/53-53]->192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0-0.0.0.0)WAN2
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    Alex

Good solution though. That's probably the only way you could do true Load Balancing anyway.

  • Need help with load balancing and DNS proxy -Repost

    Hi,
I need help on how to configure my router so it will work with my DNS proxy and load balancing.
I used:
    DNS[UDP/53-53]->192.168.1.1-192.168.1.254(0.0.0.0-0.0.0.0)WAN2
Any help or suggestions are appreciated.
    Alex

Good solution though. That's probably the only way you could do true Load Balancing anyway.

  • Load Balance method for proxy - ISA or BlueCoat

    Hi,
I would like to know that which load balance method such as src-ip, cookie or etc is most suitable for load balancing proxy servers such as ISA or Bluecoat. The Proxy will listen to many services - http, https, ftp, and etc. Thanks for the help.

The methods you mentioned are not loadbalancing technics, but stickyness features.
    Stickyness is not always necessary.
Now, for caching devices, it is good to always send users requesting a same object to a single proxy, so that the same object is not cached in all the proxies.
Therefore, the solution in this case is loadbalancing with url hashing.
For HTTPs, if you terminate SSL on the loadbalancer, you can use the same solution.
For all the other traffic, I would suggest to start with roundrobin and see after a while if it requires some adjustments or not.
    Gilles.

  • Problem loading page, error the proxy server is refusing entry

My computer crashed a week ago, with numerous viruses. After it was fixed, when I go into Firefox, the screen I get is Problem Loading Page, then in a dropdown box it says the proxy server is refusing connection. Cannot get into the internet. What can I do?

In Firefox 3.6.4 and later the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings".<br />
See "Firefox connection settings" in [[Server not found]]
You can find the connection settings in Tools > Options > Advanced : Network : Connection<br />
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy
