Load data from SAS to Oracle?

Hi, everybody,
i'm going to load some huge data from SAS format to Oracle database. I wonder which is the best way to do the task? Seems 'Import' is just for data generated via 'Export'. Will SLQ*Loader work for this prupose? If yes, what would be the procedures? And do I need to get some special drivers like ODBC etc. too? thanks ahead for any help!

No special drivers needed, SQL*Loader is just what you need.
If you go to tahiti.oracle.com, Oracle's documentation index, and search on SQL*Loader, there will be reams on information about setting up the appropriate control file.

" (quotes) is column values when loading data from csv to oracle table

I am loading a data from csv file to an oracle table.
After the data is loaded , lets suppose the value in one column is X.
when i write a query to fetch data like
select * from table where col='X' then it gives no output.
On investigating it was found that the value is stored in col as "X".
This also happens when i copy paste the value from column to some text editor ....
i want to remove these double quotes , and also want to know why these are coming...
Any suggestions guys ?

Using Oracle 10g

These quotes are part of your data file. Most CSV-parsers remove those quotes.
If you are using an external table you can remove them by something like this for your access parameters
ORGANIZATION EXTERNAL
TYPE ORACLE_LOADER
ACCESS PARAMETERS
    RECORDS DELIMITED BY NEWLINE
    FIELDS TERMINATED BY ','
    OPTIONALLY ENCLOSED BY '"'
But if you want to remove them from your existing data use this
update your_table
set col1 = trim( '"' from col1 )
Note that in some CSV-files wich use an enclosing character the enclosing character is itself is used as an escape character to use the enclosing character inside a field.
For example a field might be "Some text with ""this"" enclosed"
To correct these fields you might use another update
update your_table
set col1 = replace( col1, '""', '"' )

Loading data from SAS tables to SQL server database

Hi Guys
I am championing a BI Proof of Concept project to create a self-service BI platform using tabular model parallel to our traditional BI platform on SAS.
I need to load certain SAS tables to SQL server database so I can start creating reports in SSAS. Appreciate if anyone can suggest the process that I can load the files to database engine as a scheduled job.

From VB6 there is not much alternative than to send row by row which indeed is slow.
But you could write a C# application which uses a table-valued parameter to load the data, and this could be streamed so that the client never has the hold the entire file. I have an example of this in this article on my web site:

You can also use the SqlBulkCopy class, but I don't have any example of this myself.

Loading error from BI to Oracle

we are trying to connect to ABAP connector through OPEN HUB to Oracle.
a.       a function module is called when we run the extractor to load data from BI to Oracle.
b.       When the extractor is started it calls a function module.
c.       When the function module is executed it opens a dialogue box asking if the data is deleted from the table.
d.       This dialogue box is stopping us from doing a load.
I need the solution to suppress the dialogue box.

Source : MS SQL Server 2K. It contains a table called sampleTable with two fields empId,empName .empId is the primary key. Under the Flow tab, I have selected LKM SQL to SQL
Target: Oracle 10g . It contains a table OracleTable with two fields empId,empName. empId is the primary key. In the Flow tab, I have selected IKM Oracle Incremental Update.
When I execute the interface it said Session started. When I open Operator, I found the following error under Sessions folder.

Problem in Loading Data from SQL Server 2000 to Oracle 10g

I am a university student and using ODI for my final project on real-time data warehousing. I am trying to load data from MS SQL Server 2000 into Oracle 10g target table. Everything goes fine until I execute the interface for the initial load. When I choose the CKM Oracle(Create unique index on the I$ table) km, the following step fails:

I am using a surrogate key column in my target table alongwith the natural key. The natural key is populated by the primary key of my source table, but for the surrogate key, I have created a sequence in my oracle schema where the target table exists and have used the following code for mapping:

I have chosen to execute this code on target.
Among my attempts to solve this problem was to set Create Index option of the CKM Oracle(Create Index for the I$ Table) to No so that it wont create any index on the flow table. I also tried to use the simple CKM Oracle km . Both solutions allowed the interface to execute successfully without any errors, but the data was not loaded into the target table.
When I right-click on the Prj_Dim_Region data store and choose Data, it shows empty. Pressing the SQL button in this data store shows a dialog box " New Query" where I see this query:

I have one Oracle data model with 19 source tables and one SQL Server data model with 10 target tables. I have created 10 interfaces which use JournalizedDataOnly on one of the tables in the interface; e.g in interface for DimCustomer target table, I have 2 tables, namely Customer and Address, but the journalizing filter appear only on Customer table and this option is disabled for Address automatically.
Now I want to create a package using OdiWaitForLog event detection. Is it possible to put all these 10 interfaces in just one package to populate the target tables? It works fine when I have only one interface and I use the name of one table in the interface for Table Name parameter of OdiWaitForLogData event, but when I try a comma seperated list of table names[Customer, Address] this error happens
java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
and if I use this method <%=odiRef.getObjectName("L","model_code","logical_schema","D")%>, I get this error

Please let me know how to make it work?
Do I need to create separate data models each including only those tables which appear in their corresponding interface and package? Or do I need to create multiple packages each with only one journalized interface to populate only one target table?

I'd like to know if is posible to load data from a file xml into a table of oracle data base through SQL*LOADER, loaded only in a normal column no with type XMLType , for example

Hi,
I found the problem.It was because of the connection string.The format was different for oracle tables.
PFB the format

How to load data from oracle table to XML using ODI ?

Hello Team
I am trying to load data from an oracle table to an xml file. I have configured the physical and the logical schemas for the same. I have used SQL to SQL as LKM and SQL to SQL Append as IKM with Sunopsis Memory Engine as staging area.
After this, when I am executing the interface, it is executed without any errors but to my surprise I am not finding the relevant data in the xml file. What could be the reason ?
Please look into this and lemme know how to solve it.

I want to load data from oracle database to essbase using ODI.
I configure successfully the physical and logical Hyperion essbase on Topology Manager, and got the ESSBASE structure of BASIC app DEMO.
The problem is.
1. When I try view data right click on the essbase table,

Hi ethan.....
U always need a driver to be present inside ur <ODI installation directory>\drivers folder.....for both the target and the source......Because ojdbc14.jar is the driver for oracle already present inside the drivers folder ....we don't have to do anything for it.....But for Essbase ...you need a driver......If u haven't already done this.....try this.....

I am using sqlplus as a client to connect to the server.
I am trying to load data from a csv file from a client to a table in Oracle DB server.
I am trying to use the below command
" LOAD DATA INFILE 'test.csv' INTO TABLE testTable FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' (test1,test2,testc3,testc4); "
But, I am encountered with the following error
"SP2-0042: unknown command "load data" - rest of line ignored."

That was a nice post....
I changed my mind to use an 'Insert into' statement from a shell script.
I created a DB table named test and I tried using the below shell script to insert a row in the table.
sqlplus test/test@test <<ENDOFSQL
INSERT INTO test VALUES('test1',123,'test2','test3');
exit
ENDOFSQL
A row is succesfully inserted into the table when I run the script manually, but it does not insert rows when a cron job is scheduled.
Could you please help me with this?

yes...I got the mistake which i was doing.Actually the target file data type should be string and I was defined it diffrent for each column.
When I chnged the data type to string,data get loaded to target table.
