Load Factor for Weblogic Apache plugin
Hi All,
I have a performance testing environment and I am looking to distribute the traffic from the Apache server that we use for caching static content to three Weblogic servers. I haven't been able to find any options for configuring the distribution of requests across the three servers. Apache mod_proxy has a "loadfactor" configuration to weight the traffic toward a particular node. It seems that the plugin only operates using only a simple round-robin algorithm for load balancing.
I have found the Apache plugin configuration documentation and it doesn't look like there is such an option but I am wondering if I am missing something and it is supposed to be configured somewhere else.
Any information regarding this is appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin
I came across this link which says ‘WebLogic Server does not always load balance an object’s method calls.” And has few more details about the load balancing strategy of weblogic.

This might help.

About Weblogic-Apache plugin for windows NT
Is there windows NT version of WEBLOGIC-APACHE Plugin? If so where can we get the details about the product?
Last time I checked, the NT version of Apache was still an alpha (or
beta???) release. I believe that we have plans to support this once the NT
version is no longer in alpha/beta status...

Weblogic Apache Plugins -Put/Delete Method
Hi ,
I need to find out if the weblogic plugin Apache supports the use of http PUT and DELETE operations (instead of GET and POST) and if so I need an example plugin configuration where the clients are using the "PUT" and "DELETE" operations. And, again assuming the plugin supports PUT and DELETE, are there any known issues with there use in conjunction with the plugin.Hi ,
Here is the details about the HTTP Put/Delete Protocol :-
Supported :-
HTTP Put and Delete Protocol is supported in Weblogic and Weblogic Apache Plugin .
In Apache also these protocols are supported .
Configuration :-
If you want to configure it older version of Apache we have to use the (WebDav) of the apache .But you don't have do anything for newer version
as this module should be there and we have to do only configuration for Apache for this module .
Configuration of WebDab is here in newer version of Apache:-
http://www.serverwatch.com/tutorials/article.php/2176771/Enabling-WebDAV-on-Apache.htm
We don't have to do anything on Weblogic and Apache Weblogic Plugin side .As by default they support these protocols.
Usage :-
I tested this in my environment by sending a Put request to Weblogic Plugin using the Tool called "Fiddler".
I sent a request to Weblogic Plugin using this tool and it works . Even i checked on the Apache plugin log files also that it works.
There is good note from apache how to use the Put/Delete function in Apache .
Please follow this link for usage for Put/Delete for Apache for uploading files to server . How this make life easy .
http://www.apacheweek.com/features/put
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1051004/how-to-send-put-delete-http-request-in-httpurlconnection
Security Risk :-
Please keep in mind that there is security risk when we use this protocol which is clearly explain in the note when we use this in the example above.
Here is a nice article also which explains the security concerns of Put :-
https://www.golemtechnologies.com/articles/http-put-security
Tested hitting localhost/console
Edited the request header GET /console/login/LoginForm.jsp HTTP/1.1 to PUT /console/login/LoginForm.jsp HTTP/1.1
Got the following in the apache log file

Weblogic Apache Plugin - Load Balancing
Hi,
I have two Apache servers each with the WLS Apache Plugin installed. These sit in front of two WL servers each having two managed servers.
Each plugin is setup with the list of servers as follows:
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
WebLogicCluster Server_1:7030,Server_1:7040,Server_2:7010Server_2:7020
Debug OFF
WLLogFile logs/cws_proxy.log
WLTempDir "logs"
DebugConfigInfo OFF
WLProxySSL On
KeepAliveEnabled ON
KeepAliveSecs 15
MatchExpression *.xhtml
MatchExpression *.jsp
</IfModule>
Look OK so far?
Anyway, looking at the WL access.log I can see that server 1 is only receiving requests from one Apache, and the same goes for the other access.log. So... it's not really load balancing is it?
Can anyone offer any advice or comments on my plugin configuration or why it is not load balancing properly?
Much Appreciated,I came across this link which says ‘WebLogic Server does not always load balance an object’s method calls.” And has few more details about the load balancing strategy of weblogic.

Different error messages for Weblogic-Apache bridge
We are running WLS 5.1 sp5 with Apache as Webserver.
I want to know how could I display more user freindly error messages when
weblogic is down and apache is working. Currently we get the default
Weblogic-Apache down page.
Thanks,

not able to find the url that we specify which is reachable if I directly
use in the brower.

Setting the load factor for a HashMap used to cache objects
I intend to use a HashMap to cache a small number of object and I am trying to initialize it such that it will execute lookups with minimal cost (time). I intend to initialize the HashMap with an initial capacity of 4, but I would appreciate any insight into the appropriate load factor to use to achieve the desired low-cost lookups. (As well, if anyone has suggestions as to a better method of caching a small number of objects, I would, again, be appreciative.)
ShaunYour initial capacity is 4, so by a "small number of objects" you must mean "less than 10", I suppose. In this case pretty much any lookup will find the object almost immediately, including the O(n) sequential array search. So the only reason to care about the speed of this operation is if you are going to be doing it an extremely large number of times... is this the case?

WebLogic Apache plugin giving 404 for 50% of requests
I have the following configuration on my httpd.conf
<IfModule mod_weblogic.c>
RequireSSLHostMatch false
Debug ON
EnforceBasicConstraints OFF
HungServerRecoverSecs 5
ConnectRetrySecs 0
KeepAliveEnabled ON
KeepAliveSecs 15
IdemPotent ON
WLLogFile /var/log/httpd/wlproxy_global.log
DebugConfigInfo On
</IfModule>
And this Location configured:
<Location /FaleConosco>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
WebLogicCluster 10.8.90.147:7006
Debug ON
WLLogFile "/var/log/httpd/wlproxy-faleconosco.log"
</Location>
And this is what's happening:
1 - Half of requests through Apache, get a 404
2 - All requests that go directly to WebLogic, get a 200
Any idea?
Edited by: 938972 on Jun 6, 2012 7:48 AMIt seems that the WebLogic plugin for Apache has a bug (where do I submit bugs?)
If WebLogicCluster is used with only one server, there might be problems with requests being missed.
I changed the above configuration to use the WebLogicHost / WebLogicPort, and now I get 100% of HTTP/1.1 200
<Location /FaleConosco>
SetHandler weblogic-handler
# WebLogicCluster 10.8.90.147:7006
WebLogicHost 10.8.90.147
WebLogicPort 7006
Debug OFF
WLLogFile "/var/log/httpd/wlproxy-faleconosco.log"
</Location>

Weblogic plugin has a log as well and you can try to enable it to see if the connection is working fine from 443 virtual host to weblogic.

Weblogic apache plugin and webservices
Can I use the weblogic plugin on a DMZ based Apache server and use a 3 tier architecture
to implement webservices.
Using this model can a external application contact my webservices running in
my internal network and can my weblogic/webservices server contact an external
application/webservices using the same route i.e through the apache webserver
and weblogic plugin.
Any documentation regarding the architecture?Hi Anil,
Not sure this is possible, unless you are using it as a proxy and setup
the proper host/port mappings, see:
http://edocs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/client.html#1072224
We have a very responsive security newsgroup, you might ask your
configuration question there:
http://newsgroups.bea.com/cgi-bin/dnewsweb?cmd=xover&group=weblogic.developer.interest.security&utag=
Sorry, not much help (SNMH)

Error loading file for Pro-53 plugin
Greetings,
I keep having to tell Logic 8 Pro where the file 'def.p5a' is located everytime I load the Pro-53 plugin.
Any help? This is a Pro-53 default patch bank. Either it's not in the right place, or it's an issue with Pro-53 - in either case, this is an NI issue and nothing to do with Logic.

Configuring Apache HTTP Server with Oracle Weblogic Server plugin
Hello friends,
I have a scenario of OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle Application Server 11g and Weblogic Server Apache HTTP Server.
Oracle WebLogic Server is configured in cluster (node1 and node2), also use the Oracle Weblogic Server plugin for integration with Apache.
One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead.
When the mode is node1 and node2 stop start mode and try to access the management console of Oracle Identity Manager, the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node, and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel.
Deputy of the Apache HTTP Server log, do you expect your comments to solve this case?

Note that the plug-in does a round robin load balancing, for example, in the case of three server (1,2,3) it does 1-2-3-1-2-3-1...
with server 3 going down it does 1-2-1-2-1...

This is somewhat strange, do you have session binding turned off?
"and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel."
This could happen due to mime types (not really sure just a hunch). Here is a general story on this concept: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Properly_Configuring_Server_MIME_Types

Folks,
I read in the instructions for installing the weblogic-apache plugin
where you can use the plug-in so apache can serve the static pages and
the servlets and ejbs are routed to the weblogic server. Can we use a
configuration where just the ejb's are mapped to the weblogic server and
the html, jsp's and servlets are served by the apache server? It seems
logical that the ejb's could be located by finding the JNDI compliant
server, and the rest served by apache. Are there any folks out there
using an architecture where weblogic is used only for ejbs and the rest
is served by apache? Or are there specific restrictions on what gets
served where using apache and weblogic? Thanks for listening,

[dmcgowan.vcf]The problem in using the JSPs and servlets on the servlet engine
of the web server is, they can not use clustering/faliover facilities
that come with WebLogic server.

Yes, a minority of customers use another servlet engine/JSP engine in front

Do i need a high perf SSL offloader (Like Array Networks APV) for WebLogic
we are thinking of deploying Array Networks Load Balancers for WebLogic clusters. The primary goal is to offload SSL from the host OS machine, as we are expecting very high SSL traffic in the range of 2000 to 3000 transactions/sec. Is it a good idea to deploy 3rd party SSL offloaders like Array Networks APV load balancers. The peak throughput requirements are around 250 Mbps at best. But the transaction rate is what is killing us........
-thanks
sikrisI use a Cisco AP (1252G), with antenna air-ant2410y-r. I use 3 antennas (to support 802.11n), for a big exhitibition. On the both (around the booth), there are around 35 different wireless networks. The problem is that sometimes we have some disconnections (with iPad), ok with android tablets.
And you still want to use 802.11b????
Androids and iPads support 802.11a. -
Setup issues: Apache plugin for Weblogic
Hi,
I've spent couple of days without success trying to configure apache plugin for weblogic. I've configured in accordance with bea documentation and it works fine in windows environment but fails in Solaris 9.
Plugin log file says it's processed the request successfully but I see error message in browser saying it can't find the jsp file. It works fine if I access the weblogic box directly without going through apache.
I'm using Weblogic 8.1 SP2, single server.
Please find below the messages appear in browser, plugin logs, and apache version.
Thanks in advance for your help.

=================Plugin Logs End================Yes it is IBM Http Server, but it works fine from Windows accessing the same weblogic server I'm trying to connect from Solaris.
I see 500 error in the apache access log file.
I've also tried with by setting "MaxRequestsPerChild" to 0 in the apache config file but no good.
Please find below httpd.conf file content.
==============httpd.conf===============
ServerName eus0000168.eu.verio.net
# Based upon the NCSA server configuration files originally by Rob McCool.
# This is the main Apache server configuration file. It contains the
# configuration directives that give the server its instructions.
# See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/> for detailed information about
# the directives.
# Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding
# what they do. They're here only as hints or reminders. If you are unsure
# consult the online docs. You have been warned.
# The configuration directives are grouped into three basic sections:
# 1. Directives that control the operation of the Apache server process as a
# whole (the 'global environment').
# 2. Directives that define the parameters of the 'main' or 'default' server,
# which responds to requests that aren't handled by a virtual host.
# These directives also provide default values for the settings
# of all virtual hosts.
# 3. Settings for virtual hosts, which allow Web requests to be sent to
# different IP addresses or hostnames and have them handled by the
# same Apache server process.
# Configuration and logfile names: If the filenames you specify for many
# of the server's control files begin with "/" (or "drive:/" for Win32), the
# server will use that explicit path. If the filenames do not begin
# with "/", the value of ServerRoot is prepended -- so "logs/foo.log"
# with ServerRoot set to "/opt/IBMIHS" will be interpreted by the
# server as "/opt/IBMIHS/logs/foo.log".
### Section 1: Global Environment
# The directives in this section affect the overall operation of Apache,
# such as the number of concurrent requests it can handle or where it
# can find its configuration files.
# ServerRoot: The top of the directory tree under which the server's
# configuration, error, and log files are kept.
# NOTE! If you intend to place this on an NFS (or otherwise network)
# mounted filesystem then please read the LockFile documentation (available
# at <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mpm_common.html#lockfile>);
# you will save yourself a lot of trouble.
# Do NOT add a slash at the end of the directory path.
ServerRoot "/opt/IBMIHS"
# The accept serialization lock file MUST BE STORED ON A LOCAL DISK.
#LockFile logs/accept.lock
# PidFile: The file in which the server should record its process
# identification number when it starts.
PidFile logs/httpd.pid
# Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out.
Timeout 300
# KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than
# one request per connection). Set to "Off" to deactivate.
KeepAlive On
# MaxKeepAliveRequests: The maximum number of requests to allow
# during a persistent connection. Set to 0 to allow an unlimited amount.
# We recommend you leave this number high, for maximum performance.
MaxKeepAliveRequests 100
# KeepAliveTimeout: Number of seconds to wait for the next request from the
# same client on the same connection.
KeepAliveTimeout 10
## Server-Pool Size Regulation (MPM specific)
# worker MPM
# ThreadLimit: maximum setting of ThreadsPerChild
# ServerLimit: maximum setting of StartServers
# StartServers: initial number of server processes to start
# MaxClients: maximum number of simultaneous client connections

### Section 2: 'Main' server configuration
# The directives in this section set up the values used by the 'main'
# server, which responds to any requests that aren't handled by a
# <VirtualHost> definition. These values also provide defaults for
# any <VirtualHost> containers you may define later in the file.
# All of these directives may appear inside <VirtualHost> containers,
# in which case these default settings will be overridden for the
# virtual host being defined.
# If you wish httpd to run as a different user or group, you must run
# httpd as root initially and it will switch.
# User/Group: The name (or #number) of the user/group to run httpd as.
# . On SCO (ODT 3) use "User nouser" and "Group nogroup".
# . On HPUX you may not be able to use shared memory as nobody, and the
# suggested workaround is to create a user www and use that user.
# NOTE that some kernels refuse to setgid(Group) or semctl(IPC_SET)
# when the value of (unsigned)Group is above 60000;
# don't use Group #-1 on these systems!

### Section 3: Virtual Hosts
# VirtualHost: If you want to maintain multiple domains/hostnames on your
# machine you can setup VirtualHost containers for them. Most configurations
# use only name-based virtual hosts so the server doesn't need to worry about
# IP addresses. This is indicated by the asterisks in the directives below.
# Please see the documentation at
# <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/vhosts/>
# for further details before you try to setup virtual hosts.
# You may use the command line option '-S' to verify your virtual host
# configuration.
# Use name-based virtual hosting.

Netscape or Apache plugin for WebLogic
Hi,
The Netscape plugin for WebLogic is mentioned many time in on-line
documents for WebLogic servers. However, I can't find any information
with regard to how the plug-in is distributed, licensed. Could someone
please tell me if it is bundled in the server download? How do I install
this thing? Is there Apache plugin for Solaris platform?
Thank you,
Wayne

Thanks for help. I found the documentation and installed the
libproxy.so. However, the server reported internal error when I tried to
use it. Do you have any idea what I did wrong?
The following were added to obj.conf :
Init fn="load-modules" funcs="wl-proxy,wl-init" \
shlib="/home/ns-home/plugins/weblogic/libproxy.so"
Init fn="wl-init"
<Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/weblogic/*">

Hi, Micheal,
Thank you very much. I found them. They are all *.dll files. I seems to
have the impression that BEA support both NT and solaris. Keep looking
I also found a file called libproxy.so in the weblogic/lib/solaris
directory. Is this the one I need? If so, what do I need to do to
install?
Thanks,
Wayne

It is available in the Weblogic/bin directory in your distribution if I
