Load JPEG as an ASPx page (from SQL database)

We are trying to load JPEG images into the Flash player from
an SQL database. But figuring out how to do it has us stumped.
We are already displaying the images on a web page by
setting the source of the image as a page. We use a separate file
for retrieving an image, for example to display an image on a web
page that is stored in the SQL database with an ID 1297 in the DB,
use:
<img src="/image.aspx?id=1297">
Does anyone have any ideas how we might use a similar
technique to load the jpeg images into the flash player? Or any
other suggestions that will allow us to accomplish our object of
viewing many thumbnail jpeg images in the Flash player?
Thanks for any suggestions,
Steve

Hmm, maybe I'm naive, but what's the problem with
loadMovie("/image.aspx?id=1297","container_mc");
or even using the MovieClipLoader class with that url
string?

    I am having an issue where firefox will not load an aspx page, from one computer. It seems to work fine on everything else. I have disabled the virus scanner, firewall and web filter. It works fine on other browsers, on the same computer.
    I've tried clearing the cookies, cache and offline storage. I also uninstalled and reinstalled firefox and tried loading the page in firefox safe mode.
    Any ideas?

    I encountered a problem with some client machines that use Firefox version 24ESR and IE8.
    Ajax requests of aspx pages from Firefox are getting the following error from the iis server (iis version 7.5):
    Bad Request - Request Too Long
    HTTP Error 400. The size of the request headers is too long.
    From analyzing the request that was sent to the server, I saw that the request consist of only the viewstate of the aspx page.
    I tried to disable the viewstate for one page and the server got the request correctly.
    I do not encounter any issues on these laptops with postback requests from Firefox or when running the same application with IE8.

    Sometimes that means that the page address sent is loo long.
    Check the link address you are using.
    I can't help you further and will send for more help.

  • Can we extract blob objects from sql database to a human readable format?

    Hi All,
    I have question How can we extract
    blob objects from Sql database to human readable format ?
    Blob includes Images, text and docs.
    Thanks

    Best Regards Moug

    One thing you can do if its sql 2012 or later is to load the blob data to FileTable created in database. Then you would be able to physically browse to directory it points and see all files in its native format.

  • Is the way to retrieve the deleted pages from the database application

    Hi,
    I was just deleted the pages from my database application wizard. Now, i want to retrieve the deleted pages, can you help me to retrieve those pages.
    Thankyou.

    Halloween can be a scary time -- especially if you Oops your APEX application. Of course you can't travel back in time but through the miracle of flashback, you may be able to get the APEX appl. back to where it was when. I tried these approaches and was successful with them.
    *** This assumes flashback is running on the APEX schema(?). Your abiliy to go back a given number of minutes (or hours?) will depend on whether the saved values still exist in the database. ***
    A) If you modify a page and want to go back to what you had, say, about 30 minutes ago.
    1) Under the Utilities button (on that page), select History.
    2) Determine how far back in time you want to go by examining the list of editing changes displayed.
    3) Do a page export of that page (also under Utilities) and fill in “As of __ minutes ago”.
    4) If you don’t want to lose what you've got on the “damaged” page, copy it to another page number for now.
    5) Import the exported page file.
    6) Check if you got back what you wanted.
    7) If not, try an earlier (or later) time and have another go at it.
    B) If you deleted the wrong page in the application!
    1) Assuming the last thing you did was this deletion, export the entire application filling in “As of __ minutes ago”.
    2) Just to be careful, import the file to a different unused application number. Don't overwrite someone else's application.
    3) Copy the deleted page from the new application back to where you need it.
    4) Clean up by deleting the unneeded application.
    C) If, "Doh," you deleted the wrong application!!!!
    1) Are you able to retire? If no, then proceed!
    2) Create a minimal application (with a single page) with the same number as the one deleted.
    3) Export the application filling in “As of __ minutes ago” with an appropriate number of minutes.
    4) The export file should contain the code you need to restore.
    5) You can inspect it with an editor.
    Look about line 25 for" Pages: <number>".
    For specific pages look for "page_000nn".
    5) Import the file to the same appl. number. You should get everything back!
    YMMV: Your mileage may vary!
    I'll take my leave with the words of that immortal song:
    "Yes. Oops, Oops, Oopsie! Good Bye. But Oops, Oops, Oopsie. Don't Cry."

  • Assign locals from SQL-database

    How to assign locals from SQL-database and how to use locals in SQL-statement.

    There's a shipping example called WritingAndReadingTableData.seq (in v2.0 anyway) that should help. In the example, a Data Operation of Get, reads a column value and writes it to a local variable. You can insert a local variable into the SQL statement that you create in the Open SQL Statement step type. In the above example, there's the statement
    "SELECT TEST_TABLE.COL_COUNTER, TEST_TABLE.COL_STRING, TEST_TABLE.COL_INTEGER, TEST_TABLE.COL_DOUBLE, TEST_TABLE.COL_CURRENCY, TEST_TABLE.COL_BOOLEAN, TEST_TABLE.COL_DATE FROM TEST_TABLE"
    If you had a local variable called TableName and value of "TEST_TABLE" assinged to it, the statement could just as easily be
    "SELECT TEST_TABLE.COL_COUNTER, TEST_TABLE.COL_STRING, TEST_TABLE.COL_INTEGER, TEST_TABLE.COL_DOUB
    LE, TEST_TABLE.COL_CURRENCY, TEST_TABLE.COL_BOOLEAN, TEST_TABLE.COL_DATE FROM " + locals.TableName

  • Load image from SQL database with ASP?

    Hello,
    Does anyone know a tutorial where you can load an image from
    a SQL database ?
    I would like to show this image in Flash, but i don't know
    how to load in from a SQL database using ASP.
    Regards,
    Micheal

    Flash cannot load images from an SQL database.
    Flash can load JPEG, PNG, GIF, SWF, MP3, and FLV files.
    An SQL database can be used to store the file names and their
    location. ASP can retrieve that data from the SQL and return to
    Flash to load the above file formats.
    For Flash to do the communication with ASP you need to
    determine if you are using URL Encoded or XML data structures.
    For URL Encoded data you look at
    LoadVars.sendAndLoad
    For XML Encoded data you look at
    XML.sendAndLoad
    Then in their onLoad methods you use
    MovieClip.loadMovie
    to load JPEG, GIF, PNG and SWF;
    Sound.loadSound
    for MP3,
    NetConnection.connect,
    Video.attachVideo and NetStream.play for FLV.
    For the ASP side the work with the database has nothing to do
    with Flash other than using any search variable sent from Flash
    with LoadVars.sendAndLoad or XML.sendAndLoad. In other words it
    could be an HTML form sending the same variable and calling the
    same ASP script. Same with returning values except with Flash only
    URL Encoded or XML data structures are sent back and not
    HTML.

  • Need Help/Advice with Photo Web Gallery coming from SQL Database

    This is my first attempt at a database driven website. I assume what I am trying to accomplish should be fairly easy for more experienced but I am stuck at this point.
    First, let me explain what I am trying to accomplish.
    I want to create a thumbnail photo gallery displayed in columns and rows. I want to be able to hover over or click on the thumbnail image and have a lightbox script display the image over the thumb page. I am developing locally right now with intent to upload to the hosting site upon completion.
    I am developing with ASP vbScript pages. I have an SQL database where the paths to the image thumbnails and pictures are stored in a table. On the gallery page, I have created a div tag to hold my image recordset. Within this div, I have inserted 3 absolute positioned divs to hold the pictureID, the pictureName and the image inserted as a datasource. I then inserted the information from the bindings panel of my recordset. Last, I used a horizontal looper extension from Tom Muck to get the thumbnails to display in columns and rows. Everything works up to this point just fine.
    Now, I want to be able to hover or click on a thumnail image and have it displayed in a lightbox. I downloaded and used a javascript called Lightbox 2 which contains 3 javascript files and a css stylesheet. I inserted the files into the head tag like instructed to but could not get things to work properly. Here is where I need help. Currently, I am clicking on the thumbImage binding within the image Div and creating a link holder. I am then binding the larger pictureImage to it with the a.href selected in the bind to. I am then adding the command to call the lightbox javascript. Now, when I test my page, my thumbnail images do not show up (my alt text does in its place) but the links are in place and you can click on the alt text and it will return the correct larger image, but not in the lightbox, just in a new window with no styles.
    Am I going about this correctly? Can you use lightbox scripts with data-driven galleries? Does anybody have any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or missing? Are there better ways to go about accomplishing this?
    Any help would be appreciated as this dynamic data thing has my head spinning. Although I know a database is needed to simplify the update and maintenance of the photos while allowing them to be searchable by keywords and tags also set up in the database.
    Thanks

    As I explained, I am developing locally a the moment. I will see about getting the databased moved up to the hosting server and then provide a link for an example.
    In the mean time, can you or anyone else explain a way that you would go about displaying an image thumbnail photo gallery laid out in rows / columns, with any lighbox script that would overlay the larger image over the existing page instead of opening a new browser window?
    I don't have to use the method I tried to describe.
    In all of the lightbox examples I have looked at thus far, they give instructions on how to append that javascript to a single static image or a group of static images, not images from a datasource. That is where I am getting confused.
    Don't know if this will help or not but please see code below:
    Javascript and CSS positioned in head tag
    <!--beginning of lightbox script with css -->
    <link href="CSS/lightbox.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <script src="Scripts/protype.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script src="Scripts/scriptaculous.js?load=effects,builder" type="text/javascript"></script>

  • Dynamic table pulled from SQL database, Need to Search

    My table results are not static, they are pulled into a
    dynamic table from a SQL database. Each table displays 10 records
    with an option at the bottom to display additional records
    (next/previous), for my query. I also have an option set up to
    allow users to click for a detail view of a record in the table. If
    the table data was static, I would be able to set up a search
    option and a results page for it, but I'm dealing with dynamic data
    on an .ASP page. I'd like to set up a search box to limit the
    records displayed in the table. I haven't found any code samples
    that are designed for dynamic data.
    Here is a copy of the code from my table.

  • Database Toolkit: Reading data from SQL database

    Hello,
    I have been working on a automated test system storing data into a SQL server database.  Once you get your head wrapped around the toolkit and walk through some of the examples it is not too bad.  Writing to the database was very straight forward.  I simply put all of my data including the primary keys into a cluster and inserted the cluster into the specified table.  As I learned the hard way,  it is very important for all of your types to match up.  I saved double type from labview as decimal type in the SQL database, and long integer in labview as integer in the SQL database.
    For the the read VI, this is where my questions lie. After establishing a connection reference I used the "DB Tools Create Parameterized Query" VI combined with a SQL statement to find the recordset that I was looking for.  I used a standard SQL statement using the primary keys such as, "Select * From TableName Where Measurements = "%Measurements%" ".  This VI creates a command reference which I then passed to multiple "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VIs.  I could not get this to work with the command reference.
    I then switched over to the "DB Tools Execute Query" inputting the same SQL statement I had used before.  THis VI passed a recordset reference, which I then passed to a "DB Tools Get Properties" VI to check if the database was empty or not.  I then passed the recordset reference to multiple "DB Tools Fetch Element Data"  VI's to read the data from the SQL database.  THis worked very well.
    therefore I am wondering:
    What is the difference between a command reference and a recordset reference in the Database connectivity toolkit?
    Why would one work and not the other?
    Is there ever a case when you would want to use one method over the other?
    I have asked my app guys and Labview training instructor different database type questions, and I not received a decent answer to date.
    Thanks,
    Jackson

    Hello,
    Can you pass the command reference to a single "DB Tools Get Parameter Value" VI?  What exactly do you mean when you say you couldn't get this to work with command references... can you post an error message or the results?  The documented difference is that they are different flavors of ADOs (activeX data objects), one is a command and the other is a recordset reference.  I know this does not draw a precise distinction, but I'd like to understand this problem fully so we can find one!
    Please repost with anything more you can give!

  • Pulling Parameters from SQL Database

    This is probably something simple that I'm missing, but I'm new to CR.
    I have a report where I am trying to populate a parameter value from a database field...how do I do this?
    I do not want the end user to have to enter this parameter.
    The parameter (database value) changes on a regular basis.
    More Detailed Explination:
    Report executes a SQL stored procedure with declared variable data.  This particular report is looking for a startdate and enddate.  There is a seperate table which is populated with these values - ONLY ONE RECORD called mindate and maxdate.
    I need CR to set parameter.startdate=SQLtable.mindate and parameter.enddate=SQLtable.maxdate, and then pass this to the stored procedure.
    Thanks for your help.

    What you want to do is pretty simple...
    Add a new SQL command to your data source list. Sometime like this...
    SELECT DISTINCT DateField FROM TableName ORDER BY DateField
    There is no need to link the new command to the SP... It is only there to provide the list of values for your prompt.
    Then choose Edit on your parameters... Where it says List of Values:, change it from Static to Dynamic.
    Where it says Click here to add item under Value, find the new command and choose the DateField.
    That said... why would you want to take that option with a date parameter? If time stamps are included in the DateField, your list of values is going to be HUGE... Why not just set the Type to Date and let the users just use the date picker???

  • Disconnect from SQL database

    Hi folks,
    This is how I typically create, open, close and destroy a connection to a SQL database:
    Dim conMyDB As SqlConnection
    conMyDB = New SqlConnection("Initial Catalog = MyDB;Data Source = MyServer;User ID = MyUserID;Password = MyPwd")
    conMyDB.Open()
    conMyDB.Close()
    If Not (conMyDB Is Nothing) Then conMyDB.Dispose()
    The problem is that the disconnection never really seems to be performed.  For instance, once the above is done, if I try to detach the database, I'm told that I can't because it's still in use.  I understand that the garbage collector runs whenever
    it wants so disposal timing is not possible.  Nevertheless, is there another way which will ensure immediate disconnection?
    Thanks!

    Weird code,
    What you really could do is using the "using" phrases.
    Using conMyBm as new SQlconnection(your connection string)
    conMyBm.Open
    'do your stuff
    end using
    Since Framework 2.0 the close and dispose are overridden. The Close contains a dispose and the Dispose contains a Close. Therefore the close is done as the end using (which is in fact the dispose method) is reached . In fact the only thing which needs really
    a dispose in System.Ado.Net is the connection.
    Success

  • Call a javascript function (in ASPX) page from a javascript file

    I have a javascript file (viewer.js) situated in Scripts/viewer.js My
    default.aspx has a javascript functions that calls a c# function in the
    default.aspx.cs ( it sends a http webrequest)
    Now I want to call from the viewer.js the function in default.aspx which calls the c# function.
    How can I handle this in my viewer.js?
    I need to do this because I work with 3D objects and the select event is on the viewer.js
    When I select the 3D object it needs to call the function in default.aspx...
    Scripts/viewer.js
    function ClickPickItem(item) {
    $("#properties").show();
    /*Call function App() */
    Default.aspx
    function App() {
    PageMethods.Connect(callback);
    Default.aspx.cs
    [WebMethod]
    public static string Connect()
    string rsp = DigestAuthFixer.GrabResponse("http://<username>:<password>@nextbus.mxdata.co.uk/nextbuses/1.0/1");
    ... CODE TO MAKE HTTPWEBREQUEST}
    Sorry if I'm not clear enough
    I don't see another option like this
    What I need to do?
    Thanks!

    If my understanding is not wrong, you are trying to call a Javascript function in a separate script block from a linked Javascript page. rite?
    When it comes to Javascript, all scripts will be posted to the client side browser and we can access any method between pages provided those JS files are linked to the page.
    So you can directly call
    App()
    function from your
    ClickPickItem()
    function.
    Please try and let us know your result.
