Load Movie on MAC (Png & GIF Format)

Hello All,
I am facing problem in using MovieClip.LoadMovie function on
mac, The function is not working with png and gif formats
on mac (both in safari, mozilla). The same app is working on
windows ( IE & Mozilla).
can any body please give me any clue for the same.

To load PNG and gif formats you must have the Flash 8 player.
Usually the "this works on one platform but not on the other" issue
is due to one machine having an updated player and the other
doesn't.

First, I'm inquiring for my wife. I.e. I'm not the user. She's not all that comfortable with using Forums.
I use Photo Impact - now part of Corel, as I understand it.
She says she can't open or save those formats, as she used to be able to. But she can open PNGs
in Illustrator.
The bridge error message is generated on clicking bridge, when no other task is running:

The mini bridge also gives an error message when clicked on, with no other task is running:

Cannot complete command because the
extension could not be loaded.
She reports that a lot of Save As options have disappeared. If this was Photoimpact, I'd be
checking the FIO folder for the necessary fio files, but I don't know how PS manages the
way in which various file formats become interchangeable for saving/opening. What that
has to do with bridge, I know not. I don't know the first thing about PS.
That said, chronologically, the problem seems to have occurred after the installation of
a number of pre-sets. That makes me suspicious of them. Or rather, the installation
process that they involved. But I don't know for sure, nor do I know how that installation
of presets process might be reversed, to check if that caused the problem. (see below)
Oh, she has executed an update, but that didn't fix the problem either.
If there's no easy way to achieve a remedy to the problem, I'm contemplating doing a system
restore. She's presently moving (backing-up) those pre-sets before any roll-back is attempted.

I need to work on an iMovie I already started on one Mac, but want to finish it on my new Mac. How can I transfer the movie and not lose any formatting?

You need an external hard disk to do this.
(No I don't think USB-memory will do)
• Should be a FireWire one (as USB/USB2 performs badly to me)
• MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange will not work for VIDEO
All moving of Projects and Events - MUST be done Within iMovie application - NOT on DeskTop/Finder (else a great risk that iMovie loses track of them and You get a project that do not work OK)
• In iMovie Project window - Move over Project over to the New External Hard Disk - And it will ask if You want a Copy (I would)
• If Event's is not moved - Then in Events window - move the needed ones over too
Now - If You used Photos and Audio from iPhoto or iTunes or from folder on Mac - then copy this over too. So that You've got all needed material copied to tne new ext. HD.
Then connect it to Your other Mac and move things wher You want them to be.

I don't think you need to use a ripper program to read a home movie DVD. Those are primarily for copy-protected commercial DVDs, right?
I think you just need to transcode the DVD files using a utility like Handbrake, which is free and fast.

Converting mov files to animated gifs

Basic question: how-to convert MOV files to animated GIF files. I have been searching for free/opensource/shareware to do this but so far no program I found could do this.
I'd love someone to answer, definitively, about free/opensource/shareware, but my hopes are down.
So, I ask what MAC program (even if I have to buy it) will let me convert MOV files to animated GIFs or MOV frames to seperate images (is that at all possible?).
Secondly, does anyone have experience with software that does this?

Quicktime Pro 7 can take video (ie mov files) and export them as image sequences.

Unable to load movie playlist?

I'm really starting to regret Upgrading to Director 11. I
didn't have any of these issues going from MX to MX 2004. All I'm
trying to do is make a simple projector work on a Mac and it's one
issue after another. Not to mention all this after updating a whole
boat load of Xtras 11 requires.
The new one is this;
Unable to load movie playlist. Does the INI file exsist? It
must contain a section '(Movies)' with an entry
'Movies01=pathname.dir'.
I've already read a couple of other forum post with the same
error message going on with others but can't find certain files
required to make the fix like the 'Projec32.skl',
and I don't know how to read, let alone make an .INI file.
I'll mention I got this error after updating to Shockwave 11
EVEN though I was not publishing a Shockwave movie.
I know I just need to include a certain file on my CD when I
burn one because all works great on the desk top, but I'm throwing
darts trying to figure out what the CD burn is missing.
So to make a long story short does anyone know what I might
be missing?
I'm new to making director movies for the Mac, and even using
a Mac so I might need it spelled out a little more for being a
novice.

PS I tried making a Mac Projector from my PC with no good
results either.

This is a very frustrating problem. I have run into it as well, but can't tell you exactly how I solved it, its been a while since I've seen it. It does have something to do with the length of the path to your projector when its published. I would suggest moving your movie as close as possible to the root of the drive, you may even want to restart to ensure all the internal variables have been reset and then republish the movie.
If you publish the movie from your authoring location and then copy the projector to a cd or the desktop the path length seems to be built into the projector at publishing. So that does not solve the problem. It is fairly easy to get a long path name - c:/mylocaldrive/documents and settings/yourusername/yourprojectsfolder/yourprojectname.dir has a path name length of 100 characters! I realize you are on a mac, but the same rules apply.
I also might be mistaken with the maximum path length. Perhaps its 128 characters?
Has anyone else run into this error?

but I could not figure out how to download a video I made on the same memory card, not to Aperture which of course does not accept video but to my computer.
Aperture does import movies from your memory card, if you do nor disable it in the "Import" settings:
In the "File Types" brick of the "Import" setting make sure that "Exclude videos" is unchecked, and the "Raw&Jpeg" setting should be set to "Both".
I turned off Aperture and then searched in my computer but the camera was not recognized anywhere in my Mac Book.
Probably you dismounted the camera, when you finished importing into Aperture. You could try to unplug it and reconnect it, and then check, if iMovie will recognize the camera.

Quicktime movies made from PNG files???

I'm working on an edit that I was handed by another editor and I'm having the hardest time messing with the project. Apparently he made Quicktime movies out of PNG frame sequences and then used those movies (that seem to be not self contained) to edit in FCP. Everything was offline when I got it and when I reconnect it it goes thru every frame of every shot saying..."Searching for movie data in file...." Takes sooo long.
SO I let it search and it finshes but then when I double click the movie file in the browser or in the time line it starts the long search for every frame again.
Got any suggestions? This is driving me nuts!!!

This sounds like the behavior when a Quicktime reference file is used. You can be in FCP or in the Finder but when the original media used to create it isn't available the Mac os will try to search and you see that message. It can take a while. If that media isn't available you won't be able to edit with it. Not a good workflow to use.

Please download and install the free codec utility named GSpot and let us see if you can get a properties readout from it for these gifs.
I am mostly interested in Video Name, Codec, Status as well as Audio Name and Status. You should also be able to get the frame rate
and frame size from that dialog.
I am not sure what is happening with the .bmp files. Those are stills so there would be no motion in them. I am not sure what you meant by they don't move.
What we need to put together is
a. project settings - what are the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, Frame Rate, and Pixel Aspect Ratio (even if grayed out) found Edit Menu/Project Settings/General.
b. and the properties of your gif files.
If any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please ask.

I have a swf file which I call "Stage" and it contains 3
scenes.
In scene 1 of Stage, I have another swf- "Info1." loaded on
level 10. I know
how to get Info1 to unload and load Info2 but what I am
trying to accomplish
is when I click on Info1, it loads Info2 and it also go to
Scene 2 of Stage.
Is there anyway I can do this?

Never mind - I was doing something very stupid and wasn't
calling the function as a method of a movie clip. I was simply
calling checkTarget(event) rather than
event.currentTarget.checkTarget(event); which seems to work.

How GIF format is supported in XMP toolkit

I'm new to XMP and I'm using the XMP toolkit since some weeks. I was easily managing JPEG, TIFF, PNG and PDF, but I have problems with GIF format.
Documentation declares it is supported, but I didn't find BlueSquare.gif between the samples. There is no handler available in the libraries. I cannot embed metadata in file that has not already.
Maybe it can reads/modify only GIF that has already XMP embedded? (if so can someone give a sample of 89a GIF with XMP embedded).
Is there anybodu that has found a way to add metadata anyway?

On your computer's iTunes if you select that video and do 'get info' (control-I), then on the popup on the Options tab change it's 'Kind' to 'Movie' from 'Home Video'.
To sync it to your iPad, connect the iPad and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side use the Movies/Films tab to select and sync it to the iPad's Videos app.
