Load multiple podcasts to your iPod?

Does anyone know how to load multiple podcasts to their iPod? I assumed iTunes would push my entire podcast library to my iPod, but it didn't - only 1-3 episodes appear per podcast feed, and not even necessarily the most recent ones (and it failed to grab one podcast feed at all). In any case, I'd really like to have all podcasts available to choose from - is there some setting I can change to tell iTunes to transfer them all? (memory is not yet an issue)
Also, memo to the apple designers: a dedicated podcast menu on the iPod would be really nice. I'm surprised there isn't one already, actually, given how much the iPod menus mimic iTunes

uh ... explore the MAIN MENU option under SETTINGS on your ipod. it lets you select what you want on the main menu screen.
Since you haven't managed to find that setting on your own, you might find it interesting that there are lots of settings in ITUNES that control what podcasts are transfered to your iPod. Plug your iPod into your computer, select it in iTunes, and go do the PODCASTS tab. Poke around in there for a bit - I think you'll find what you're looking for.

  • Problem loading Ellen Podcast with 5G ipod

I have a thirty gig Ipod video (the first release) and itunes says i cannot sync the ellen podcast because my ipod is not compatiable... What is the deal???

I have the same problem with my fifth generation 80 GB iPod. I called Apple and they said that they cannot help with any specific podcasts because they are not responsible for how the podcasts are made. I expressed my surprise with this statement as the Ellen show is a featured show in the Apple Store Podcast section, but it does make sense. They can't be responsible for every podcast in their directory.
You could try contacting the Ellen show and letting them know. I'm sure they'd fix it if they knew it was affecting a lot of people.

  • Transferring a "purchased" podcast to my iPod.

I am  very frustrated as I bought at the ITunes store a podcast, which ITunes sent to my computer where it is listed under "purchased" instead of the
usual listing of free podcasts which I subscribe to, which are listed under "podcasts" with the name of the show (in this case, "This American Life".)
I can listen to it sitting at my computer but would rather have it on my iPod, so I can listen to it while commuting to/from work.
Can anybody help me with how to load this podcast onto my iPod?  Thank you!

So this downloaded podcast does not show up under the Podcasts category of your iTunes library?  Is is listed under any other categories such as music, movies, or TV shows?

  • Can I add Podcasts to my iPod without going through the iTunes Music Store?

I want to add some spoken word files to my iPod and store them in the Podcast section. They are not radio broadcasts and are not available through the Music Store, still there must be some way to file them where I want them. Downloading from the Music Store can't be the only way to file things under Podcast, or can it...?

I'm not terribly familiar with podcasting but you can put podcasts on your iPod from sources other than iTMS. From memory, you have to add these manually. Have a look at the tutorial: Podcasting Tutorial

  • Podcasts disappear from Ipod Classic

I recntly purchased the ipod classic 120gb, and dowloaded a number of podcasts which I have been playing. However, yesterday I was viewing one (podcast) when the ipod froze for about 15 seconds, when I was able to go back into the menu all the podcasts disappeared except the one I was viewing.
Can anyone, someone, explain why this has happened?????
    I love my ipod!
    I need answers.

It sounds like you use the Sync function to update your iPod (that is the best way). There is a setting which controls which Podcasts stay on your iPod, and it's this you need to change.
Connect the iPod to your computer. Highlight the device <your iPod> (left hand side bar) and then click on the Podcasts tab. On that tab, change the various options to the one you want. It probably says "Keep all unplayed episodes" which means it will remove a Podcast from your iPod when you have listened to/watched it.
Change these settings to (for instance) "Keep all episodes" or "keep last x episodes". (I'm currently using my laptop which does not have my iTunes installed so I may have the actual wording wrong - but I hope you get my drift.)

  • Can somone explain the secret of loading a podcast?

I have used the search function, and threads often are answered with a link to a FAQ or a tutorial, none of which have explained why I cannot put a podcast on my nano.
I have mine set for autosyncing (I believe) and there are like 19 podcasts in my iTunes menu for podcasts but I cannot figure out how to transfer them onto the ipod. I have chosen the "GET" button, which then shows it is "downloading" and the podcast does not ever transfer to my ipod.
Here was one explanation from the FAQ:
Subscribe and listen to a podcast in iTunes
Make sure you have the latest iTunes and iPod software installed, open iTunes 4.9 and select Music Store in the Source list.
Click the Podcasts link or select Podcasts from the Genre pull-down menu to browse the featured podcasts within the iTunes Music Store.
Select a podcast that sounds interesting by clicking it.
A list of podcast episodes will appear.
Double-click any episode to listen to the entire podcast if you wish.
If you like what you hear, click the Subscribe button to have iTunes automatically download episodes of this podcast to your computer.
Click Podcast in the Source list to see the Settings button on the bottom. You can use the Settings button to indicate how often you want to check for new episodes, and set which podcasts will be copied to your iPod.
You may view and download past podcast episodes. To do this, select Podcasts within the Source list and click the arrow to the left of the podcast name. iTunes will reveal all downloaded and available episodes. To download a particular past episode, click the Get button.
Okay, nothing was automatically downloaded, all these podcasts are just sitting there, and I see no way to get them from that menu to my ipod. The software version is 1.1.2 on my ipod.
Can someone explain what the heck I'm doing wrong, and how to do it right? I'm afraid I may need an indepth explanation because I am starting from the very beginning.

I don't know why you don't but it doesn't matter for getting the podcast on your iPod because the podcast tab that shows up after connecting the iPod wouldn't be on the left hand side.
Do you have the most up to date iTunes?
So you don't have any of the options on the left hand side as I do,
I deleted all the other playlist that was titled 90's music and all that.

  • If your ipod freezes, skips songs, and wont load, read this

ok, i have a 4th gen 40gb ipod which worked fine until i upgraded to itunes 5. now my ipod shows a folder with !, songs skip, and it freezes after 5 songs.disk mode didnt help either, as it didnt show up on my computer even though the ipod displayed do not disconnect. I found a fix for it. it sounds dangerous and crude, but it worked for me, and some other people. plug your ipod into your computer and it will say dont disconnect, and your comp probably will be locked up like normal until ipod loads, then take your ipod, and hit it on its side on a hard surface. do it while you hear the Hard drive spinning. NO JOKE. my ipod started working right after. however, the sound is really crappy now, but i was at least able to backup my files, and i'm going to use my warrenty to get a new one. the reason this works is beacuse somehoew the hd pin is out of place, and you can hear it clicking. hitting it will get it back in place. i know this sounds crazy, but trust me, it will stop skipping songs and freezing, and will appear on your computer. I warn you however, if you break your ipod doing this, dont blame me, i'm just saying this because it worked for me. give it a try if nothing else works. hope this helps. itunes 5 was really bad. anyone know where to get itunes 4.9, that was fine for me, and i had a separate podcasting program anyway.

    Hi Mark,
I tried entering the serial number onto the apple website, but it says my iPod had not been registered (although I have registered it!).
Anyway, I phoned apple support and they told me to go to depot.info.apple.com/ipod and fill in a service request. Unfortunately it said that my iPod is out of warranty, so I had to phone again to get them to update their records about the and they are sending out a service box in the next few days
I think I'm definately going to take out the applecare service now!

  • Ipod playback of multiple podcasts

Is there a way to listen to multiple podcasts consecutively--like listening to an album or the shuffle setting for songs, but in the podcast catagory?
    Thanks

It seems this "fix" isn't published anywhere. I found the solution by accident for my ipod classic 6G.
Go into your ipod Settings menu and turn Shuffle "Off". When shuffle is turned off then the podcasts will play continuously.
If you want the podcasts to stop each time the end is reached then turn Shuffle "On".
It's a pain. I have to turn shuffle on for music and then remember to turn it off before listening to podcasts.

  • HT1320 I lost all my podcasts to day from my ipod classic but not my music.  After trying several times I still cannot load my podcasts back onto my ipod from my MAC. How do I do this?

Today I lost all my podcasts from my ipod classic.  My music remained on the ipod.  Why did this happen and how do I get them back onto my ipod from my MAC?

If all of these missing podcasts are still in iTunes, simply reconfigure them to sync to your iPod via the iPod's Podcast configuration pane in iTunes. To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under Devices in the left hand pane. Over to the right, in the main window pane of iTunes, look for the Podcasts tab along the top and select it.
Here you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you do happen to make any changes from under this tab, be sure to hit the Apply button in the lower right hand corner to sync the update changes to your iPod Classic.

  • Is it bad to to leave your ipod in a loading dock

is it bad to to leave your ipod in a loading dock

    No.
However, over a very extended period of time it will start to deteriorate the iPod's battery life, which will happen either way, but for now it has no effect really.

  • Why You Can't Load Some Images On Your 5th Generation ipod

Why You Can't Load some images on your 5th Gen ipod.
    - OK here is the scoop: I could not load some images on my 5th gen ipod and yet other images would load no problemo. Images were JPEG, jpg, PSD (all approved image types for the 5th gen ipod)
    - After doing several tests like restoring the software on the ipod, reinstalling itunes I still could not find the problem, then I noticed as soon as I would open an image in Photoshop CS2/CS3 that was otherwise loading on the ipod no problemo, when I would save that same image in Photoshop the image would not load in my ipod.
    - So after playing with several settings in Photoshop I found the problem:
-In Photoshop go to File handling:
    -Image Previews:
    - And click on:Never Save
You do not want to save a photo with a "Image Preview" when saving any file type that you want to load on your 5th gen ipod. it would seem the ipod will not accept any images with a "Image Preview" embedded into the file, JPEG, PSD, jpg etc.
I hope this will help some of you because I just waisted a whole day to find this out the hard way.
    Cheers,
    Mac Fans
    BTW I use a Mac Pro/Intel OSX Tiger 10.4.9

Also I just found out when you are saving an image in Photoshop uncheck the " Embed Color Profile" box.
So do not embed your images with a "Preview" and DO NOT embed a "Color Profile" when saving images in Photoshop or the images MAY not load on your ipod.
    Have Fun

  • Can you down load priviously purchased CDs onto your iPod?

can you down load priviously purchased CDs onto your iPod?

Yes if they do not have DRM protection.  If you go your Music library in iTunes there is an option for importing your CDs.
