Load music now or wait until new computer arrives?

Hi! I just recieved a ipod nano and while in the process of loading my cd's I decided to purchase a new computer...should I hold off putting the cd's in the computer until I have my new computer or is transferring stuff pretty easy between computers (currently dell to new mac)?
Thanks for your advise!!
FYI: I am about half way through my cd's and have 1200 or so songs in my ipod.

You should be able to use the migration tool to bring over all your stuff from your current computer to your new one (assuming they are both Macs of course). In fact, when you first turn on your shiny new Mac, it will ask you if you want to bring over all your stuff from your old system. Just say yes and get all your old stuff migrated over!

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.
Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to backup, not good, then you can redownload some purchases in some countries.

  • ITunes music AND Info to a new computer

    Evening all and Merry Christmas,
So here is my situation, I have an seven year old Cicero that has packed it in. I placed all of my music on an external drive so that I could free up hard drive space on my computer and continued to consolidate my tunes there. This proved beneficial when my computer died.
Problem....Now I have a new computer and I would like the new iTunes program find my music files on the external drive as well as all of the information that goes with it. Over the years I have really added a lot of detail to the library of tunes (i.e. ratings, comments, album artwork, BPM, number of times played, skipped, etc...). I would also like the the new iTunes to continue to consolidate any new files to this same hard drive location.
I have searched the Net, watched videos, scanned forums and tried to get the music AND information from the external drive into the new iTunes, to no avail. It is really frustrating because I can usually solve these kind of issues out on my own, but this one has stumped me. I can get the music, but it is all blank.
I would like to not have to copy/move the music to the new computer, but if this has to happen so be it. Looking forward to some answers that could be understood by an 11 year old.
    Thanks for your time.

All of the info is in the iTunes library file, which the default location is in \Music\iTunes\ folder on your C: drive.
If you do not have that. you cannot get the info.

  • Transfer music from ipod to a new computer if i dont have old itunes

My computer crashed and i had to purchase a new one, I was not able to pull anything from my old hard drive and i did not back up my itunes. All my music is on my ipod, is there a way that I can load my music to itunes on my new computer from my ipod?

For purchased songs you can plug the iPod into you new computer and use the "File > Transfer Purchases from iPod" feature in iTunes. For music not purchased from the iTunes store you will need a third party program to help. There are a few of them out there, and they are easy to find on Google.

  • HT4527 Pb with Home share moving music and playlist transfers to new computer

I am trying to move my music library and playlists from my old computer (which I want to get rid of once I get my files transfered) to my new computer.  After searching and reading, it seemed Home Sharing would be easiest method.  I shared my library between my old and new computer.  The help screen indicated you had to then save the shared list to the new computer if you want to deactivate the sharing feature (and not use other computer).
When I tried to copy music I'd shared onto new computer, it appears to work until I go to play the music on the computer.  Then all the songs cut off about a minute from the end.  How do I fix this problem?
Playlists: With the playlists, I followed the directions and exported my playlists to a memory stick and then imported them onto the new computer via itunes.  The playlists all show up, but when I play music from the playlist it only plays the first 15 seconds of the song and then moves onto the next song.  How do I fix this problem?
Thanks for any insight, directions anyone can share.  I have a PC with Windows 7

With a Mac, you'd connect the iPhone to the Mac using the USB cable and then launch iPhoto or whatever other photo/movie application you like, and then import the videos from the phone. You should be able to do the same with your PC; use whatever video importer you like, it should treat the iPhone like any other camera.
You can also use this iOS app, but it will only work pictures and with fairly short videos.

  • Should I buy the iPhone 5 now or wait until September?

It's July now and apple usually announces a new iPhone is September should I get the iPhone 5 now or wait until September?

No one but Apple knows when (or if) Apple will release a new iPhone.  That being said, Apple has released a new iPhone every year for 6 years straight.  If you think you want the newest iPhone, wait a few months and see what happens this year.

  • Adding on music for iphone with a new computer

I'm sorry for this for being a noob question, but my old computer with itunes which synced with my iphone has died - so is there ANY way I can edit all song information without having to reformat/resync with a new computer?
    many thanks

You don't maintain a backup copy? This is one of the many reasons that always maintaining backup is basic.
If for some reason you did not backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
You can backup your iphone ( does not include apps/music/vids/etc) to your new computer, see this article for clarification:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414
If you enter at least one unique contact/calendar entry into your computer, then you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.
It is very important to always maintain a backup copy of all important info, as computer/hard drives do not always announce their pending failure.

I wish to load my software on to a new computer. I have my redemption code, but I am unable to get a serial due to the information that originally registered with.  I forget my information

The redemption code is useless once it's used one time. However, luckily if you registered PSE you can go the main page of adobe.com and look for My Adobe. Work your way through the links there and you should be able to retrieve your serial number.
