Load my own music and Match music

Might be a daft question but can i load my own music onto my iPhien abnd still have Match in use?
i have some radio shows recorded i want to listen to. If i load them into iTunes and dont 'Match them', as its lots and they are long, can i then sync them into the iPhone without disturbuing the Match settings?

Yes, absolutely you can load your own music (as long as you obtained it legally; for example, from CDs you own).
It sounds like you've signed up for iTunes Match.  Assuming that's true, iTunes Match may replace your music with the same tunes from the iTunes library, which may improve the fidelity of the music.
In any event, as long as you place legally obtained music into your library, iTunes Match will handle it properly and you will not lose anything.

When I click on Documents, MUSIC and MY MUSIC used to appear.  MUSIC seems to have disappeared.  How do I get it back?

    HI,
ON a Mac the Home folder (the one with a Little House icon) tends to be where most people have "Documents", "Desktop" "Pictures", "Music", "Movies", "Downloads", "Sites" and "Public" folders (Plus anything else they put in there and possibly the library if they set it to display the Library).
"My Music" sounds like a Windows reference and you list Windows as your OS
Seems like the question is better suited to a Microsoft forum.

I have an iPod, my daughter gave me her laptop, now I have all her music AND my music on my iPod.  If I delete on the laptop (PC) does it affect her cloud?
I also just got an iPad and the music list is exactly the way I want it.  Is there a way to sync between the iPad and iPod?

You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ipod will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase teh content from the ipod.

  • OVI Music and Nokia Music store login issues

    Hi,
Yesterday Nokia rebranded Nokia Music store to OVI Music in India. Earlier I had Nokia Music Store account as OVI login was not supported in Nokia Music store.
So my Nokia Music account and OVI login were different.
Now when login to music.ovi.com and select India as country , I am asked to login.
I can login with my OVI id but then dont see remaining tracks and download history.
I login with my older Nokia Music account and I can see remaining tracks and History.
Some of my friends report that in their case , their Nokia Music and OVI account are merged and tracks and history details are still there. But this has not happened in my case.
Please let me know when Nokia will be able to merge 2 accounts for me. or is there any way I can do it myself? I know that similar thing happened for OVI share and Sports Tracker accounts but they were eventually merged with single OVI account.
    Best Regards,
    Suyog

I have replied this in other thread too-
"Me too having same issue, i got an email from nokia music that our older usernames have been changed with OVI at the end of old username and password remaining the same. As soon as you receive this email u can see your download history of earlier . and i tried to login by my friends account too by putting OVI at the end of username, the balance of tracks was there but download history is not there. So i think we all have to wait for that email to come from nokia music care to confirm about our account being updated with download history."

  • Music in 2 locations, iTunes media music and iTunes music folder???????

I have music in 2 locations, iTunes media music and a iTunes music folder.  The media/music folder appears to have more content.  What is the difference between these two locations and can one be deleted without losing content?

With iTunes 8 and earlier the "correct" location for music was:
    <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Music\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>.<Ext>
Since iTunes 9 this has become:
    <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>.<Ext>
If your library started in the old layout it may have been inadvertently switched to the new one at some point, with a mix of content in both locations.
Check under Edit > Preferences > Advanced that the media folder location is set to <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media (assuming your library is stored in the usual place).
Under File > Library > Organize Library... tick "Rearrange files...", if possible, and "Consolidate files", then click OK. This will drag in copies of any file currently stored outside of the media folder.
Assuming you're happy letting iTunes organize your media then under Edit > Preferences > Advanced turn "Keep..." off, Click OK, then go back and turn it on again. This will ensure that everything is set out in the current layout.
Anything now stored outside iTunes Media, e.g. in ..\iTunes\iTunes Music, is now a disconnected copy and can be safely deleted.
You should also backup your library, ideally before you start tidying up just in case something goes wrong and you need to revert.

  • Duplicate songs on upload from my music and itunes music

Help. I had a computer crash. IN the process of hooking up my ipod to try to get songs back it duplicated all of my songs. So I went through and tried to manually delete the doubles in my music folder. totally deleted itunes, ipod, etc. Reinstalled itunes. And this time it doubled my songs again. When I search for where the song is listed it points me to the song in my music folder and also to the same song in the itunes music folder found in my music;itunes;music folder. How do I keep the songs from duplicating from itunes and my music. This didn't happy the first time around. The song is only listed once in the my music folder. Help

It sounds as though you have got in a terrible muddle and you haven't explained exactly what you did.
If all the music files you want are in:
    My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music
And they are not duplicated there although copies exist in other places.
And you don't mind losing playlists, playcounts and ratings, you could adopt the nuclear approach:
Close iTunes, drag the file iTunes Library.itl to your desktop. Then open itunes, which forces iTunes to create a new empty library. Now use "add folder to library" to add the:
    My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music folder
to your library. If you are completely satisfied that you have all your tracks there, music files can be deleted from other places, but only when you are certain!
If you don't fancy that, you could look at third pary software to help you out. iTsync is one that claims to be able to find and remove duplicate tracks.
    http://www.itsyncsoftware.com/itsync.htm
But there are other programs around.
If what I said doesn't fit your situation ask again with more details.

  • Itunes music and ipod music are greyed out, can't click them why?

I have about 2,400 songs and only 5 of them i can click and listen on my new ipod touch 5g. i have itunes the newest one, and most of the songs are greyed out also on itunes. so i cant play them on itunes and my ipod. what the ****? i usually download music and drag the file to itunes and also drag it to a folder where i keep all my song files incase it ever needs a "locate file". When i click sync it syncs the music but when it says a song can't be read or written it stops the entire sync process. What do i do?

Do all the songs play in iTunes? If so then:
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Comes With Music and (Finnish) Music Store

I have a Nokia N97 mini Comes With Music. There was an upgrade in Finnish Music Store in yesterday (09.09.2010). After that, I can not choose free downloads anymore. Somehow the "Comes With Music" button has disappeared, and every mp3 has a price. I tried to re-join to Ovi Music Unlimited but the client replies that I already have the Comes With Music rights. Any suggestions?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have had this exact same problem since mid-August some time. Been in contact with the Swedish Nokia Care people and they basically escalated it to some technicians in India. Still waiting for some form of response from them.
Also, can you transfer songs from OVI Music (the software I mean) to your phone? Because I can't do that either (I'm guessing because it requires that I access my account and get the DRM license - but like you pointed out, every mp3 has a price and there are no re-downloads available in my account anymore).
This is extremely frustrating. Sometime in June or July was the last time I could transfer songs from my computer to the phone (well, stuff I've ripped from my own CDs work fine of course, as well as songs that I've had on my phone prior to the CMW-MU switch).

  • Having a strange problem. When streaming music and or music videos to my Apple TV from my Mac sometimes the Apple TV seems to loose the stream and the only way I can get it going again is to turn off home share on my Mac and then turn it on again.

I do not have this problem when streaming music/music videos from my IPAD or my Iphone

The speed is probably due to your network, it is quite indirect for mirror/AP.
For the audio, you cannot split audio and video so the audio will play where the video does.

  • ITunes automatically re-downloads deleted music and even music not deleted

    Hi folks,
My iTunes has recently started automatically re-downloading music files that I either already have downloaded, or have deleted. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?
    Thanks in advance
    Paddy

Hi ... same thing for me, for the last week or so iTunes on my MacBookPro has started redownloading apparently 'random' albums again despite songs being present in library ... sometimes it will start redownloading more than 100 tracks, and it moves the old files to the Trash.  Does anyone know what is going on, and why this has 'suddenly' started happening?

  • I want to purchase my husband and Ipod for birthday.  Our computer has our daughters music and his music on there.  How do I just put his music on the ipod?

I want to purchase my husband an ipod for his birthday.  On this computer their are hundreds of songs of my daughters and my husbands.  How do I just put his music on the new ipod.

    Hello Becky,
You need to manually manage the music on his iPod. Manually managing your device allows you to choose just the songs and videos that you want to have with you.

  • Help needed using ITunes Match for Music and freeing up space on IPad?

I have moved my music from IPad to ITunes Match Cloud.  I find that it is just copied there and is still on my IPAD.  I am trying to free up space on my IPad so do I delete the music on my IPad, or do I delete the music on my IMac and sync to remov

King Penguin's advice is always sound, spot on and he has really give you the best all around solution for what you want to do....but you can also delete your music directly from the iPad and download it again when you want it again. These days, not all people use iTunes with their iPads and many iPad owners dont even own computers. I assume that you do have a computer running iTunes since you asked about iTunes Match, but since you didn't know how ITM works, maybe you don't own a computer, so I'm just offering another alternative.
You can go to Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage>Music and remove music in there via the Edit button as well as swiping across songs or albums in the music app in order to get the red delete button. If you want to download the music again, just go to the purchased tab of the iTunes app, tap on Music, Not on this iPad and all of your purchased music will appear. You can also go to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Show All Music>on. That will make all of your music in the cloud appear in the music app and you can tap on the cloud icon in order to download the songs again.
The only caveat to this solution is that of the music is no longer available in the iTunes Store, you cannot download it again. On occasion, things do get removed from the iStores, so it is possible that could happen.

  • Managing both Lossless and AAC music folders

Hello, I am trying to have two music folders with identical songs from my imported CDs, but with different encoding formats. I would like to have one folder with Apple Lossless encoding, so I can stream high-quality music to my home stereo. I would then like to have another folder of the same music, but converted to AAC compression so I can load that music onto my iPod.
Does anyone have suggestions as to how I can do this? I know I need to import the music from the CD first with Lossless encoding; and I've done this. I now need to find a way to convert all these files (as a copy) to AAC in a different folder/playlist so they can fit in my iPod's limited storage space.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    Tyler Stableford

Managing two folders the way you want to do it, is not possible in iTunes itself.
There are 3rd party scripts and applications that might do it, for example iTunes Library Manager.
If you like to have both formats available at the same time, you could do next:
Import all CDs in Apple Losless.
Take care that all info is the way you like; if you convert them, you have to correct wrong info twice.
Convert all lossless tracks to AAC.
Make two Smart Playlists (e.g. iPod music and Home music)
Include a rule in the iPod playlist not to contain 'Apple Lossless audio file'
    To give an example:
I don't care about what's all in the library; it's the main container for my multimedia.
So I've set some rules for my 'Music Library', a Smart Playlist.
    I've set it to:
Match all of the following rules:
    Podcast is false
Kind is not mpeg audio stream
    Genre does not contain audiobook
    etc.
You could make two almost identical playlists.
'Home Music' containing the rule: Kind is not Apple lossles....
'iPod Music' containing the rule: Kind is Apple Lossless...
You can make other Smart playlists which depend on the contents of these two 'music libraries'.
    Hope this helps.

  • Keeping Music and Speaker files seperate?

I have files on my ipod (nano 4th generation) of Narcotics Anonymous Speakers that I listen to when I cant get to a meeting. I also have music that I listen to while working. Is there any way to keep my Speaker files seperate from my music? I tried putting my Speaker files into their own playlist and my music into a seperate playlist, but it still plays both together. Is it possible to put the Speaker files into Audiobooks? Any ideas?

One thing you can do is set the Narcotics Anonymous files to Skip when Shuffling from under each tracks Options tab of their Get Info window in iTunes.
If you would rather move these files to the audiobooks section, you'll need to change their media type to Audibook from under the iPod's Options tab as well also accessible via the Get Info window in iTunes.
