Load previous tabs when starting

I know Mozilla recently created a "feature" that had Firefox load only one tab/page from a previous session upon starting up, regardless of how many tabs/pages were open when Firefox was last closed. I want to reverse this, and have all tabs load simultaneously when Firefox is started up. Can anyone provide the about:config command I can use to revert to previous behavior?
I'm using version 15.0
- many thanks

Hi, jsher2000,
This may be a question of platforms or versions but I think what you are referring to is under the "tabs" section of preferences on my Firefox preferences pages. There is no "Don't load tabs until selected" option in the "General" area but I did see "Don't load tabs until selected" check box under "Tabs". I unchecked that. I assume this will solve my problem and, therefore, I will say you solved my issue. Many thanks for your help. (I feel like an idiot for not seeing that option previous to posting my question but… there you are.)

  • Firefox always opens all previous tabs when starting

I've been using Firefox for quite a while, but it has recently begun opening every previously open tab when I restart a session. I only want the tabs I selected for my home page to open. I've tried going to the options and selecting "Show a blank page" on startup, but even that is ignored and all of the prior tabs open on each new start. I've rebooted the computer and restarted Firefox, but the problem remains.

Disabling the Add-ons didn't help, but the Firefox reset fixed the problem.
    Thank you!

  • Firefox keeps loading old tabs when restarting

Firefox keeps loading old tab when closed and a new Firefox was started. (My Startup home page is set to "restore to default". I even set sessionstore to 0 in about;config) Still same issue

    HI,
Deleting sessionstore files did not help. But resetting firefox helped. Thanks everyone.

    Hello Mahendraji,
    Thanks for your reply.
I may ask some basic question please accomodate me.
    <<$RACLE_HOME\reports\conf\apple_report.conf>>
I have Application server 9i version 1.0.2.0.0 (isuite).
I have installed in D drive
In this drive a folder d:\orcale is created.
Inside of this i don't have any folder called "reports"
    i have folder called "806"
    \\webdb-01\D-Drive\Oracle\806
Inside of which i have folder "report60"
    \\webdb-01\D-Drive\Oracle\806\REPORT60
Inside of which i have folder "SERVER"
    \\webdb-01\D-Drive\Oracle\806\REPORT60\SERVER
    In which i found "Rep60_WEBDB-01.ora" , "Rep60_WEBDB-01.log" and "cgicmd.dat"
and 2 folders "CACHE" and "security".
I am confused as you said that the file name should be Rep60_WEBDB-01.CONF but i have Rep60_WEBDB-01.ora are they one and the same . If yes is the extension b'coz i have older version of 9i i.e 1.0.2.0.0 (isuite).
if no where i how i can search this .
This Rep60_WEBDB-01.ora file doesnot have parameter "engineResponseTimeOut" if i add it will it work.
Your explanation regarding "engineResponseTimeOut" is clear.
Maximum Time taken by our report is 20 minutes. But sometimes when report hangs or SQL takes more time than normal due to the environment so the max time might change to 25 or 30 minutes in such a case should we keep it at 45 minutes to avoid any unneccessary termination.
    <<Note:
It is always better to run batch reports on a separate server with different engineResponseTimeOut values. Do not submit interactive and batch reports to same server.>>
If i create a seperate application server how can i send reports requested by user to batch in this seperrate server.
What should be the criteria of report to be redirected to seperate server?
What do mean by "submit interactive" and "submit batch"
My interpretation is when we click on submit query button it is "submit interactive" is it correct.
I am not clear about "submit batch"
I know there might be some silly questions but please do accomodate.
    Kindly advice.
    Thanks.

  • How to fix forgetting previously opened tabs when starting Firefox by clicking on a link in an external application?

Hello, I have the option Startup: "Show my windows and tabs from last time" enabled. Works fine, except when Firefox starts when I click a link in an external application (typically Thunderbird). Then, the new link gets opened in a new tab, Firefox remembers the number of tabs I had opened when I last closed it, but all the "old" tabs are blank. Can I somehow fix this behavior?
Disabling add-ons does not help. Clicking on a link in an external application when Firefox is already opened works OK. I have been using Firefox for quite a short time now (probably half a year) and this problem was always there (i.e. it is not due to a new update).
    Thank you.

If Firefox is closed and an external link opens Firefox, you need to go to History > Recently Closed Tabs and open those tabs before closing Firefox. If you don't the "previous session" will be gone and only the one page that the external program opened will be the new "previous session".
If that isn't satisfactory, you'll need to install a "session manager" type extension to remember more than "the last session" only.

  • Keypad scrolling stops in previous tabs when new tab loads a pdf file

Firefox 4, HP laptop, W7. I have several tabs open with html pages loaded. Laptop keypad scrolling works correctly in all of them until I load a pdf file into a new tab. The keypad scrolling works correctly for the new tab containing the pdf but stops working in the previously opened tabs containing html files.
My other HP laptop also runs Firefox 4 but has Windows XP as its operating system and does NOT have ths problem. Could be a W7 problem?
    Thanks, Barry

You get that problem if you select the Firefox program to handle a file if you get an "open with" dialog.

  • How can I stop Firefox from opening loads of tabs when I try to open a attachment?

When I try to open a file within a file I get loads of untitled tabs(295) and the file I want doesn't open. This started yesterday when I was trying to view my utility bill nad i now can't view anything.

You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an ''Open with'' download window.<br />
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.<br />
You can delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/mimeTypes.rdf mimeTypes.rdf] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder] to reset all actions or set the offending action in Tools > Options > Applications to 'Always Ask'<br />

  • Since upgrading to version 32, firefox always opens old tabs when starting, even though i do not have this option set. Version 33.0.3 does the same.

When I updated Firefox to version 32, it started to always show my tabs from the last session when it is started. I tried changing the option "when Firefox starts" to all three of the available choices. None of these changed the behavior. It still opens the tabs that were last opened. I waited for the next release (33.0.3) but the behavior is still the same. I would like Firefox to open to my selected home page.
    I'm running Windows 7 Pro.

One possibility is that Firefox keeps crashing during shutdown, and so Firefox is recovering from a crash every time. But if you can see that it is shutting down normally in your testing, that probably isn't it.
Sometimes external software will create or update an optional settings file named user.js. For some reason, one of the things that often shows up in there is a preference to restore your previous session just once. However, because Firefox uses user.js to override your normal settings every time it starts, that then turns into a permanent change. To check for this and remove any user.js file you find, try this support article: [[How to fix preferences that won't save]].
    Any luck?

  • I don't want to open certain tabs when starting FF

I'm using a PC in a different environment and when I start FF 6.0 a couple of Tabs open that I no longer need. How do I stop FF from opening those Tabs?
    Thanks,
    John

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    * Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

  • No matter what I do FF 3.6 always loads 8 tabs when I open it. I do not want these loaded (they were the first 8 I had opened. I have even deleted and resinstalled the app, but get the same result. PLEASE help me. Thanks

every time I open ff 3.6 it loads the same 8 tabs I had opened the first time I used the program. I have deleted and reinstalled the app, but that has not helped. I have tried to remove history etc. But these same 8 tabs keep coming back. How can I get rid of them? Many thanks for your help.

You may have those 8 tabs saved as home pages. Firefox can store multiple home pages, for details of how to change them see [[How to set the home page]].

  • Tab Navigator not loading all tabs at start

I have a tab navigator with a dataGrid in one tab and another
dataGrid in another and when I double click the dataGrid in tab 1 I
want it to go to tab 2 and set the selected item or dataGrid1 to
dataGrid2. The problem is when I double click on the dataGrid, and
havent navigated to tab 2 before. This gives "TypeError: Error
#1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object
reference." The tabNavigator's creationPolicy="all" and the
function that is called on doubleClick is
    private function GotoNext():void{
    if(firstDataGrid.selectedItem!=null){
    myTabNavigator.selectedIndex=1;
    secondDataGrid.selectedItem=firstDataGrid.selectedItem;
This works if I first click on the 2nd tab then click back on
the 1st tab, but not if I just double click.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • At one point, I accidentaly chose to always save tabs when exiting. i fixed this by reseting browser.startup.page to 3; however, while it now asks me, even when i click no it never opens the next session to my homepage, only to what the last tab was.

When trying to close multiple tabs, mozilla warns me and asks if i want to save. Even if I click no, the next time mozilla opens it opens to the last open tab of the previous session. If there is only one tab open when i close firefox it does not ask me, but will still load that tab when firefox next opens.

So, I fixed it...but I'm not quite sure how. I compared, line by line, my about:config with the one on my houses main computer...only did about two screen's worth, but I changed some values to match the other computer and the problems gone!

Fire Fox does not ask to save tabs when I exit. It started this when I loaded my last update - 4.0. How do I fix? Getting tired of starting over . . .

Firefox now always stores the old session, and you can access it by going to the History menu and selecting "Restore Previous Session"
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
If you always open the last set of tabs, an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
