Load rule failure in ASO cube building
Hi
I have an ASO cube and I'm trying to use a load rule to build my entire Measures dimension. Everything seemed to be working fine before, I had about 7,000 measures tagged with a particular UDA, however, now when I do the build, only about 2,200 of the members are getting tagged with the UDA, although there is no error file. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to why some members are successfully getting the UDA assigned to them and some aren't. I even tried creating a new load rule and using a text file with the particular accounts, and again, it says everything was fine, but when I go back and look at the outline it's hit and miss. Any thoughts?
Hi,
I dont see any reason ,why it add UDA's for few and does not for few.
I request you to do the following
1. Check the data file
2. Check the rule file
3. and as per the definitions of the rule file ( i.e build properties, data source options ..etc.
see ,whether the data file is in harmony.

Aso cube build is taking very long time than expected.
Hi all,
We have 3 essbase servers (100v, 100x and 100y). No issue with 100y server.
- 100v and 100x are mirror servers (i.e. same cubes will be built and load onto 100x after 100v is done)
- Initially ASO build of a cube on 100v used to take 40 mins and on 100x takes 1hr 15mins(approx).
- But now it is taking 3 hours on 100v. But 100x is still ok (same as before).
- Note: This is happening for only aso build and data load only on 100v(we load data into aso cubes).
please let meknow if any ideas. also let m know if more info needed.
Thanks,

If any process is taking much memory except esssvr.exe and essbase.exe....just terminate it...and check
and it is also depends on the servers configuration....100v & 100x should be same as 100Y....

Jobs and Tasks for Automation of load data in Essbase ASO Cube
Hi, all people,
my question is about creating jobs or tasks for automation loading data in essbase cubes.
I use .bat file witch run MaxL script for loading data form oracle database into an essbase cube. For running .bat file is made a Windows Task.
Is there any other opportunities to run .bat file not using windows tasks? Maybe there is special utilities in Oracle EPM Systems or any other.....
I am using essbase version 11.1.1.2.0.
Thanks for reply))There is no internal scheduler. You either have to use Windows Scheduler, Unix Cron or a third party tool. Take a look at Star Analytics Command center, it is designed specifically for Hyperion applications http://www.staranalytics.com/products/command_center.htm

Hi,
Please help.
Case like that;
Base member of Period in Planning is Month as calendar, but Base member of Period in ASO cube is Week, like that:
Jan
JanWeek1
JanWeek2
JanWeek3
JanWeek4
JanWeek5
now, need to load planning data to ASO cube as reporting.
but seems cannot directly load data from Jan in Planning to Jan in ASO cube, since Jan in ASO cube is a parent member. am i correct? what i tested in smartview is as that.
so is there any better way to do that?
Thank you.You can go ahead with the approach of what VBajaj has said.
We have a similar process where our Plan data is 1 level higher than ASO (i., level1 of ASO is level0 of plan for most of the dimensions). So, we have created the level1 as level0 in ASO ending with _Plan and then loaded the data for those members.
From a data loading standpoint, you can just put suffix in the rule file itself.

Error While Building Attribute Dimension in ASO Cube
Hi all,
Cuurently I'm trying to bulit an ASO application in Oracle EPM 11.1.1.3
When I'm building an attribute dimension "QSize" in ASO cube ,I'm Getting some Warnings
I'm using Flat file as my source AND MY RULE FILE IS
GEN2,QSIZE, ALIAS2,QSIZE
1, ">100"
2, "100-249"
3, "250-499"
4, "500-1000"
5, "<1000"
I VALIDATED THE RULE FILES,
when i try to load the data into the essbase,Its giving me a warning stating that
Record #1 - Incorrect Syntax For Member <100 (3305)
*1 "<100"*
and i don't see the alias name for member 1
I came know that Essbase doesn't allow ">" character at the beginning of Dimension Or Member Name
Please let me know if there is Any other way, where I can Assign the alias "<100"
Thx in Advance

Edited by: SG on Jan 22, 2011 3:06 PMCould you get away with an underscore? I think that works. You will have _<100 which is not ideal but might be worth a try.
Failing that, go with GT and LT. <--This is incredibly lame, but sometimes users go for the "computer is too stupid" answer. Which in this case, is sort of true.

Alternate hierarchy dimension build with load rules
Hi,
I am trying to build a alternate hierarchy dimension using load rules (I feel using EIS is easier to build ASO and multiple hierarchies but we r trying to get rid of EIS member loads). Looking at different posts my understanding is it has to be done using two different rules file first to build the stored hierarchies then use parent-child reference to build the shared hierarchy. Below is the link for the picture how I am trying to build the dimension. I've tried different possibilities but no luck, I am having a tough time to come up with a way to do this using rules file.
http://s24.postimg.org/u5hl4eyqt/basis.jpgIf your file is in a parent/child order, then you can build easily in one rule. make sure the primary (stored Hierarchy) gets built first followed by the alternate hierarchies. I suggest adding a SortID column to the source so you can sort the file to get it into the right order. You can also build the alternate hierarchies using level or generation builds in one load rule, but especially if you have a lot of alternate hierarchies or members, then the parent/child method is easiest.
Read in the DBAG about parent/child files and it will give you more info -
Hi,
I have not been using ASO cube before and had worked only on BSO cubes. Now I have a requirement to create a rule file to load data in to an ASO Essbase cube. I have created a data load rule file as I was creating for a BSO cube which is correctly validating. However when I am doing the data load I am getting following warning:
"Aggregate storage applications ignore update to derived cells. [480] cells skipped"
I have investigated further and found that ASO cube does not allow data loading at upper levels & on members calculated through formulas. After this I have ensured that I am loading the data in to zero level members and members which are not calculated through formula. But still I am not able to do the data load & getting the same warning.
Could you please help me and let me know if there is anything else which I am missing here?
Thanks in advance...
AKWHi AKW,
"Aggregate storage applications ignore update to derived cells. [480] cells skipped"This is only a warning message that means only those many cells were skipped might be for some reasons like any member pointing to those cells will be missing.
If you want to copy the Data of your BSO cube to an ASO Application why dont you use an PARTIONING it will copy your whole data from BSO to ASO (If Outline is common in both then copy any member of Sparse dimension like "Scenario 1" from Source i.e. BSO, to same member like "Scenario 1" in Target i.e ASO ),
This is only an alternate wayThanks

DATA LOAD WORNINGS IN ASO CUBES
Hi Every one,
While loading data into ASO cubes in Essbae we are getting wornings like *"Data load strem contains 1.25797e 08 and [0] #misssing cells ".*My data file have #missing values and o's and sepecial carecters like E .I want To load the complete data with out warnings.Kindly let me know if any one's know the solution .Whether i need to change any settings in rule file or how to ingnore those cells .
Thanks,
VikramThe warnings are really informational messages to let you know it loaded and did not load those values. Which is fine as they tend to bloat a cube (The zeros). #missing is not going to load anyway and the E is exponential format of numbers whinch should not be a problem. Excel will display it this way, but you can format it without the E. You don't mention if you are doing this from EAS or MaxL and what version you are on. In Veraion 11, in EAS there are options in the load dialog to turn on or off the loading of zzeros and missing across the top. In MaxL, I don't see the syntax in the Tech reference, but I thought it was there in 9.

Email notification on Cube load completion/failure
Hi all,
I'm trying to create a trigger that will send an email on the success/failure of a data load. It seems that I can only use cube members in the where and when clauses for triggers however. Is there an easy way to get email notification from the cube builds? Currently we are using AIS to schedule and build the cubes and it doesn't provide an obvious way to do this. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance! The TechRef has good examples for "almost" every command or statement.
What you need to do is to write MaxL script file to load your data and execute Calculation/Aggregation and if it fails anywhere you can log that to an error file, then call that script from a batch file that sends an email at the end, you can use a command line email applications such as Clemail. You also can put a condition in your batch file to send an email only in case of failure file exists.
here are few steps you may follow:
-select your application and database
-unlock all objects
-disable connections and log out users
-build your dimension, if you do build your outline before you load your data**not necessary**
-load your data
-execute Calculation/Aggregation
- enable DB connection
- define your label at the end of MaxL Script
in your batch file:
- define your parameters that you are going to pass to your MaxL script
- call your MaxL script: essmsh "fileName"
- call your email application
if you are not familiar with batch scripting, Google for some examples.
hope this helps. -
Can we load data for all levels in ASO cube
Hi All,
Can we load data for all levels of members in ASO cube in 9.3.1.
RegardsYes you can load data for all levels in an ASO cube in any version HOWEVER, none of the upper level data in any cube will be there when you look for it. You will get a warning message in the load because ASO cubes don't store data at upper levels. It is the same as loading data into dynamic calc members in BSO cube. It will do the load without compalints, but there will be no data there (At least you get the warning in ASO)

ERROR : "Exceptions in Substep: Rules" while loading data from DSO to CUBE
Hi All,
I have a scenario like this.
I was loading data from ODS to cube daily. everything was working fine till 2 days before. i added some characteristic fields in my cube while i didn't do any change in my key figures. now i started reloading of data from ODS to cubes. i got the following error "Exceptions in Substep: Rules" after some package of data loaded successfully.
I deleted the added fields from the infocube and then i tried toreload data again but i am facing the same error again "Exceptions in Substep: Rules".
Can any one tell me how to come out from this situation ?

Santhosh" Incompatible rule file. Duplicate member name rule file is used against unique name database."
I am just guessing here as I have never used the duplicate name functionality in Essbase, nor do I remember which versions it was in. However with that said I think your answer is in your error message.
Just guessing again.... It appears that your rule file is set to allow duplicate member names while your database is not. With that information in hand (given to you in the error message) I would start to explore that.
