Load songs off ipod to computor or disk
Is there anyway to load songs off ipod to computor or disk?
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
More information is contained here.

First off, you don't have an iPod classic, it was never issued in a 30GB version. Check this link to see what iPod you have.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353
Secondly, it may help to provide further info such as whether you are using the iPod automatically or manually to transfer music and whether or not you see any error messages.
Does iTunes see the iPod? What happens when you try to transfer songs? -

Playing songs off iPOD without installed software.
Ok so I am aware that if we set my iPod classic to manually manage and disk use mode, we can transfer it around with us and plug it into a computer with itunes we can listen to the music right off the ipod. I am wanting to be able to either install some kind of software on my own USB flash drive, or the ipod unit itself. To be able to play songs off the ipod through any computer without having itunes installed on it. I have came across some "Portable Itunes" software, however those just didn't work properly.
Message was edited by: morbidxbeanif you turn on the ability to show hidden folders in windows you should be able to navigate to the songs on the ipod and play them with windows media player or whatever. the only problem is that they will not be sorted as you would expect. the file names will have random names in random folders but I think windows media player will read the track information if you add it to your playlist.

Same Ipod recognized twice by iTunes, crashes when deleting songs off iPod.
I know that others have had this issue but there was never an answer and it was awhile back so I figured I'd post a new message. Everytime I sync my iPod it is recognized twice by iTunes. What I mean by this is that it looks as if I am syncing two iPods with the same name at the same time, although upon examination there contents appear different (when looking at the color bar that shows how much of the iPod is video, music, other, etc...) In addition, if I attempt to delete a song or songs off of the iPod, Itunes crashes but with no error message, just straight to the desktop, no questions asked. I know this is not a problem with drive letters as I have already checked that out and Windows is only recognizing the iPod once as the Q drive and no other drive shares that letter. Can someone please help? (or will my question end up in the iTunes message board graveyard of unanswered problems like so many others?)
so yeah i just tried that... didnt work. I changed the drive letter from G: to I: and no dice. This is all after i used msconfig to disable all third party services that automatically load at windows start up. Yet once again, those weren't the problem. So i completely uninstalled itunes, redownloaded, and then reinstalled the newest version with the third party services still disabled. Once again, itunes crashes : /
my friend is coming over in a bit and im going to see if i can successfully connect to her itunes. Only other options right now i feel i have is to pay apples sorry *** $30 to help me solve this over the phone.. or i can restore my ipod, then try again : ( any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated : ) -
Using itunes with your ipod (deleting songs off ipod)
Hellow, im kinda new to ipod nano and i have a question that i can not find out and is kinda hard for me as a (newb) too figure out. When i open up itunes it shows my Libary and all that good stuff. I plug my ipod in, Than loads, Than it will say Tim's Ipod beacuse that's what i have saved it as. What i want to do is delete some of the songs off my ipod that i have downloaded. Is this possible or no beacuse i dont have a clue.
Thank you
TimiTunes for Windows and the standard copy protected songs purchased from the iTunes Store are only compatible with the iPod/iPhone range and the iTunes enabled phones from Motorola. You may be able to get your player working with the aid of a third party helper program. Have a look at this one and see what you think: iTunes Agent -Windows
If your player supports drag and drop through Windows Explorer you can drag tracks from the iTunes Music folder rather than through the iTunes interface. Also remember that many players will not work with AAC (MP4) format at present so if you imported anything from CD into iTunes using the AAc encoder then they will need to be converted to MP3. You won't be able to convert iTunes Store copy protected songs, you can only burn them to data discs for backup or Audio CD to play on other players. -
How do I take songs off IPOD?
I share a library with my 13 year old daughter and I dont want Hannah Montana on my IPOD. How do I take those songs off? They went on when I synched the IPOD.
If you are sharing the same library, then set up a smart playlist and change your iPod to sync only that(those) playlist(s). For example, if Hanna Montana is the only thing you don't want, then make a smart playlist where the rule is artist IS NOT Hanna Montana and now that playlist will basically be your entire library except Hanna and you can sync that to the iPod instead.

How do I delete songs off ipod that got accidentally put on it ?
Today my computer was very stupid and i some how have 200 more songs off wal-mart.com music that were randomly put on my ipod and i cannot get them off i need HELP please . Any comments are very appreciated.
P.S. srry about the grammar i'm in a hurryHow you delete content from your iPod depends how you have it set to update:
If you are updating automatically (syncing) all songs and playlists then delete the files from the iTunes library. In the iTunes Library highlight the file and press the delete key on your keyboard. If you're updating the iPod from a selected playlist delete the song from the playlist and it will remain in the library. Next time you connect they will deleted automatically from your iPod.
If you are updating manually, connect your iPod and when it shows in the iTunes source list click on the chevron (the little triangle) to the left of the iPod icon This will display the various icons for the iPod itself, Music, Movies, TV Shows and Playlists. Click on Music and you'll see the usual song list. Find the files on your iPod that you want to remove, highlight them and delete directly as above by pressing the delete key on your keyboard.
To select multiple items such as all the songs in an album, click on the first track in the list hold down the shift key and click on the last track to highlight the selection. Then press the delete key.
To summarise, you start by highlighting the song/video/selection in either the iTunes library or on the iPod song list as displayed in iTunes then press the delete key on your keyboard: Deleting songs or playlists from your iPod -
Any way to delete songs off iPod without iTunes?
I'm planning on going on a long trip where I would prefer not to take my powerbook.
Is there any way to delete files/songs off the iPod without a computer? That way I can import more photos [with the camera connector] when I see that I'm running out of space in the field?
Thanksyou need a computer. select manual update, and you can pull songs on and off you iPod with ease.

How can I take songs off my iPod and still keep them in my iTunes?
You don't have to manually sync in order to make this happen. Removing things from your iPod doesn't effect your iTunes library. You can either select "Sync Only Checked items" in iTunes and uncheck the songs you don't want on the iPod. Or (and this is the method I recommend), choose "Sync Only Selected Playlists" (second pane, "Music", when the iPod is connected) and don't include those tracks in any of the playlists you sync. Either of these methods allow you to still have the benefits of syncing (simplicity, playcounts transferring back to name a few) without having to have everything on your iPod. Both methods become crucial when the size of your library exceeds the capacity of your iPod.

I am buying the new ipod video tomorrow and getting rid of my mini. How can i transfer all my songs off my mini though and onto my new one tomorrow? i tried everything i can think of and I cannot get the songs off the ipod
you cant do it with itunes, but you can with other software! i think one i downloaded for a friend is called "ipodrip" or something. this article teaches you how. there are many other programs floating around the web if you dont like the ones described in here though. http://www.engadget.com/2004/11/02/how-to-get-music-off-your-ipod/

Want to transfer songs off ipod
My old computer crashed and I lost all the memory. Is there a way I can transfer songs off of my Ipod mini to my new computer?
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes. -
Unable to load songs onto Ipod from Intel Imac
I am unable to unload songs onto my 5th gen ipod from my Intel Imac. No amount of troubleshooting has helped so far; SMC, restore, swapping usb ports, swapping cables, PRAM, etc.
I can, however, load songs onto the ipod from my 6 yr old Tibook. This leads me to believe my Imac has a usb port problem, unless somehow my ipod is at the root of this issue?
The tibook's usb is 1.1, not 2.0, which makes for verrry loonngg load times and I woould much rather be able to load from my Imac.
Has anybody else encountered anything like this before?
Of course my Imac and my ipod are out of warranty - if my Imac (or my Ipod) are in need of repair, can anybody recommend or anti-recommend good repair services, preferably in the Seattle area?
please and thanks,
dtYes, Itunes starts up, no dialog boxes at first but I can anticipate soon getting a whirling beachball of death oftentimes just by plugging in the ipod, definitely if and when I try to load any songs onto it.
I often eventually get a dialog box to the tune of ipod could not be loaded to for unknown reasons 1435. Thats the only one I remember right now, though it seems I have gotten slight variations on this theme.
The ipod appears both in itunes and the desktop, although if itunes freezes I cannot see the whole desktop to confirm at all times. Yes, the ipod does appear in the system profiler under usb.
Eventually the entire computer will be taken over by the wbbod, forcing a hard re-boot.
please and thanks,

Getting songs off ipod on new comp
l recently got a new laptop, and my old laptop has all my songs on it and l dont have it anymore! and l was wondering if l can plug my ipod into my new laptop and it will get all my songs off my ipod and put it into my itunes on my new laptop! l plugged it in and nothing worked, and on my new itunes l purchased music and it wont add them to my ipod at all! So if ya can help me out would be greatly appriciated
thanksNo, it didn't happen to me before. The last time, I switched computers, but when I tried to sync to the new one, I found that while my music transferred properly, my playlists did not. When I asked for help, someone posted a link to the 3rd party software that could extract both songs and playlists. (I eventually managed to salvage the library file from the old computer, so the issue was moot).
This time, a friend of mine found her old iPod, but the computer it was synced to is long gone. She would like to retrieve the files. Can you help? Do you have any information regarding these programs? Or do you offer nothing more than stupid assumptions and failed attempts at cleverness?
