Load web page before FLV

I have a simple, play-once 10-sec Flash video on the home
page of a site I am developing. Browser waits until FLV is fully
downloaded before displaying any html content, whether or not
Autoplay is set to true or false. All a first-time visitor sees is
blank white screen until Flash is ready. How can I tell browser to
load html content while waiting for Flash to download? Even a
'loading' progress bar would help, to show that something is
happening, but don't know how to do that either. I am an
ActionScript novice, so could someone please spell it out for me?

Hi,
You could try to use WebBrowser ,WebBrowser displays HTML content in applications running in a Silverlight 4 or later out-of-browser applications or in Silverlight 5 in-browser trusted applications only.

  • Having issues with loading web pages after using migration assistant

Last week my old macbook pro died and i purchased a new 13" mbp. I brought it home the first day i bought it and just turned it on and started playing with it and the internet was blazing fast, no issues at all. I then brought it back to the apple store where they peformed a migration from my old hdd to my new macbook pro. I then took it back to my dorm and connected to the same exact internet and now i am having problems loading web pages. Sometimes the page will load on the first try (click) and other times it will hang there loading but never fully load the page, and if it does load somewhat certain things are missing from the page. So i have to click the link again, and again, and sometimes again for it to finally load correctly. I dont know what is wrong but i have a feeling it is files from my old system conflicting with new ones when it comes to loading web pages. Everything is up to date the OS and firefox and i am having the same issues in safari. Also my ipad and blackberry have no problem connecting to the wifi so that is not the issue. I really hope someone can help me out because this is really starting to drive me crazy.

If your still having problems, or anyone else......
For future info, your in the wrong forum, your need the MBP area, this is the MacPRO area, no big deal, I can barely keep up with the M & B & P, etc...
Sounds like when it migrated over your old settings it may have gotten corrupted? It has been known to work if you were to just make another "Location" and just re-enter the information again and sometimes that will help. You might take it back to the store and see if it does it on their connection also. The silly person should have tested it first before letting you go.
    Hope you got it fixed...

  • Browsers not loading web pages.

Hi there I'm hoping someone can help me with this.
This evening I logged on to my mac to find that none of my browsers (Safari, Chrome and Firefox) could load web pages. My MacBook Pro connects to the Internet via wifi. All other devices (wired and wireless) connected to the router work and even when the mac is hard wired it works. I have a bootcamp install of windows that works fine.
I tried loading all 3 browsers on another users account to no avail as well as attempting it in a guest account. I also attempted to load pages whilst booted in safe mode again to no avail. The strange thing is, when I connect to my universities VPN the browsers all work fine.
I have also noticed that applications installed that show in the menu bar (weather, Dropbox etc) do not work unless the mac is hard wired (or connected to the VPN wirelessly).
Can anyone help with this problem please?

First contact your ISP.  You need to confirm that the issue is not on their end.
Change your router channel.  Sometimes this is all you will have to do.
Power cycling the router.  Read the router's user manual or contact their tech support for instructions.
    System Preferences/Internet & Network/Network
    Unlock the padlock
    Locations:  Automatic
    Highlight Airport
    Click the Assist Me button
In the popup window click the Diagnostic button.
System Preferences/Network- Unlock padlock.  Highlight Airport.  Network Name-select your name.  Click on the Advanced button.  Airport/Preferred Networks-delete all that is not your network.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."  Click the OK button and lock the padlock.  Restart your computer.

    No internet connection (wireless)
Check to see if an extra entry is present in the DNS Tab for your wireless connection (System Preferences/Network/Airport/Advanced/DNS).
Delete all extra entries that you find.
Place a check mark next to "Remember networks this computer has joined."

  • My macbook air is so slow at loading web pages

Why is my Macbook Air suddenly so slow at loading web pages?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    and confirm. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Enable Private Browsing in the Safari menu. Any change?
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the box marked Photo Stream, if it's checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?

  • My iPad won't load web pages, even though it was working fine two days ago.

Up until 2 days ago I had no problems with my iPad 3.
However now it will not load any web pages at all (Using Safari). In order to get it to load web pages I either
have to reboot or turn it off and then on again. It then connects but only ever to one page at a time.
I don't understand what the issue is since it was fine before. It is not my Wifi network as it works fine on
    other laptops.

    Try this:
    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Why is iPad so INCREDIBLY slow in loading web pages or e-mails? I have brand new iPad 2.

Just got a new iPad2 last week, installed OK, updated to iOS 5.0, able to access my home's wireless network. However, it is incredibly slow in loading web pages, so that most web sites time out before they will load, like http://finance/yahoo, which I have to use my desktop (Windows XP) or laptop (Windows 7) computers to access, since the iPad will time out almost every time before it can open the site. Same for most other sites, unless real simple like my own web site, which will open OK.
Apple tech support was no help at all. Any suggestions, other than buying a new router?

Have you tried (1) restarting your router, and (2) resetting the wifi on the iPad?  To do #2, go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset Network Settings.

  • Often unable to load web pages.

My MacBook har suddenly decided to not load web pages ...
I surf around, and maybe one fifth of all the web pages won't load in my browser (both Firefox and Safari). It isn't something about the web pages, because after some time I can get them to load perfectly. I contacted my ISP, and they couldn't find anything wrong. Besides, I can surf just fine from other computers (non-Macs).
I wondered if it was something about the port, since all other apps work perfectly (for example Google Notifier and Audium is always connected), but https doesn't any better. I've also pinged web sites for a long time, without any evidence of something being wrong. One strange thing is that traceroute sometimes gives me "no such host," and then a moment later, it works with the same address.
It's not Airport either, because I now use a network cable and have the same problems.

There are several possibilities that come to mind.
Since HTTP transfers often fail, but lightweight protocols such as AIM don't, my first thought is MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit).
The standard MTU for ethernet networks is 1500 bytes. This means that all transfers are broken into chunks of 1500 bytes each before being sent over the network. In some cases, certain network configurations (such as DSL links that use PPPoE) require a lower MTU such as 1492 or even 1460.
Normally this isn't a problem since the router tells the client what MTU to use but sometimes this doesn't work - especially if you're using a NAT device.
When there's a mismatch your Mac doesn't know that it needs to use a lower MTU so sends traffic upstream at 1500 bytes and the router chokes when it tries to cram that data into its 1492 link.
This is why lightweight protocols often work - the typical AIM packet is less than the MTU and therefore doesn't need to get truncated. However, large file downloads exceed the MTU and run into problems.
If this is the case you can force your MTU to be lower using the System Preferences -> Network -> <interface> -> Ethernet tab. Switch from Automatic to Manual and you'll see options for changing the MTU. Try lowering it to 1460 to see if it works. If it does you can try increasing it until you find the optimal value.
If it wasn't for your statement traceroute sometimes gives me "no such host" I'd be sure this was the problem. However, MTU doesn't usually cause DNS failures since most DNS requests are small.
If your DNS is failing and the ISP belives the DNS server is working correctly, that hints at a link-level problem. Packets are getting lost somewhere along the link between you and the server.
The first thing to check here would be speed and duplex. The fact that you've used both AirPort and wired connections hints that it's not a problem directly on your machine, but what about the rest of the links between you and the router? I'm guessing you have an ethernet cable between your base station and a switch, maybe another cable between that switch and the router? Either of these cables could have a mismatch.
Without knowing the switch it's impossible for me to tell how you check the switch port configuration - some switches have LEDs on each link that tell you the speed and duplex, others have a command line or web interface that will give you port status and statistics. If you have such a switch, check it. Also check the switch logs if you can - you'll often see error messages such as 'excessive CRC errors' which can indicate a duplex mismatch.
If you can't get the information from the switch, try manually configuring your devices. The same preferences tab where you set MTU can also be used to set speed and duplex. Just be aware that if you choose a combination that the switch doesn't support (e.g. you choose gigabit but you're connected to a 100mbps switch), then the link will go down.
Try different options to see if any of them work any better for you.

  • Recently downloaded Mac OS X Mavericks and Safari has become noticeably less responsive; slow to load web pages. Also, when Safari is open, the Finder randomly comes to the front. Any ideas?

Recently downloaded Mac OS X Mavericks and Safari has become noticeably less responsive; slow to load web pages. Also, when Safari is open, the Finder randomly comes to the front. Any ideas?

In fact, I am runing some plug-ins:  ClickToPlugin (Flash blocker), Collusion and Disconnect.
There is quite a history of new versions of Safari breaking third-party plug-ins/extensions becasue the plug developer did not have an updated version available by the time the new Safari version dropped. What you report--worked fne before but won't now--is exactly what history says happens in such a case.
First, turn off all third-party stuff and see if Safari smooths out. Alternatively, create a new user account and, from there, test Safari in its native state with nothing added. That is a good diagnostic to see if the issue is a plug or extension.
If either of those helps, check for updates to the add-ons. If the developer is slow in reacting to the updated Safari version, (not unheard of), stop using that extension until an update is available.

I'm having problems loading web pages on a vmware workstation 6.05 guest OS using Firefox 3.5.9. Also tried the latest 3.6 version. I can ping external websites fine from the guest. No proxy. Any ideas?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I installed a guest OS

I'm using the same swear words as you. There are several threads about this problem - no answers.
I have a LaserJet 8100N and 8150DN, get the 79.01FE error on the 8150 from print outs from Safari, Firefox, and Preview, for only some sites/documents. CNN.com has become my test site, seems I can crash the printer 90% of the time with their home page at any given time in the day.
A summary of what I have tried:
    - Upgraded the firmware to the latest for both the JetDirect card and the printer.
    - Swapped the JetDirect cards between the 8100 and 8150.
    - Swapped ram on the 8150 board.
    - Disconnected external trays, bins, and removed extra RAM and hard drives from the 8150.
    - Tried setting the JetDirect link and matching switch port link to 100FD, 10HD, 10FD, 100HD, as suggested by a poster.
    - Tried having client's print to the printer through a XServer Print Server.
    - Can consistently create the error from multiple systems running 10.3.9, 10.4.5, and 10.4.6 (didn't have an install base of 10.4 before 10.4.5).
Someone in the 'know' (which means they're likely not), said 10.4.7 will likely fix this. Being Apple has not even addressed that the problem exists (that I could find), I doubt the magic fix is a release away.
Apple's software is triggering something that Windows systems appears not to be, so one could say it's an Apple problem; but ulimately it's HP's software/hardware that is at fault in that it is allowing their system to crash from input alone.

  • Not loading web pages

So here's the thing. About every 20-30 minutes I have to unplug the router then plug it back in to be able to load web pages. I still am connected to the router w/ an excellent signal, but I cannot load web pages w/o going through this process, which is really annoying.
I have the WRT54GS Wireless Router w/ Speedbooster.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank You

How long have you had the router?   If this is a new router, your ISP may be disconnecting you because your MAC address has changed.   If you have a new router, try cloning the MAC address, from the computer you were using with this ISP before you installed the router.
Does the same thing happen if you are wired to the router?

It takes forever to load web pages. Is it possible I have a virus eventhough I keep scanning for them?

Your internet experience is dependent upon several different factors. I doubt a virus is the problem.
    1) when you type in an address or click on a link your service provider's computer must turn the URL into an IP address - the computer that does this is called a Domain Name Server (DNS). Many ISPs have slow DNS servers. If it takes a long time for the page to start loading but then loads quickly that might be your problem. OpenDNS provides a free DNS server that is very fast.
    2) the connection between your computer and router. I assume you are using WiFi - hold down the Option key and click on the WiFi menu item in the menubar. The RSSI indicates signal strength / quality and the farther away the value is from 0 the lower the quality. something between -60 to 60 is a good signal. If it is in the 80s or higher (or -80 or lower) you might try changing the channel and/or moving the base station.
    3) your internet connection. Go here to see how fast your connection is. Your connect speed will be dependant upon your WiFi connection, your ISPs internet service, and how fast the connection is between your city and the testing city. If you suspect your WiFi service is all or part of the problem you'll want to fix that before running the test - or connecting with an ethernet cable would bypass the WiFi problem. Of course you'll need a dongle (or a different computer) to test that way.
My ISP is TimeWarner and at least for a while TW was notorius for having slow Domain Name Servers. I switched to OpenDNS and haven't looked back.

  • I'm using Safari 5.0.5 on a 13" MacBook Pro and can't get Safari to fully load web pages or pictures on web pages. Any suggestions?

I bought a MacBook Pro in October of 2010 and it's been running greatly up to this month. Now I am experiencing problems with Safari loading web pages. Sometimes it will load web pages just fine and other times it doesn't load web pages at all. This only seems to happen with certain sites. Also, on some web pages Safari won't load pictures (only the blue "?" is visible). I've experienced the same problem when I use the Mac App Store. In addition to these problems, when I visit sites that have problems loading, sometimes I just get a notice saying "Not connected to the internet" or "Safari cannot find the server." I am beginning to wonder if the problem could be some setting with my wireless router. I'm really hoping my MacBook hasn't gotten a virus. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi.
Try putting these numbers in Network>TCP/IP>DNS Servers, for the Interface you connect with...

    208.67.220.220
    Then Apply

  • Firefox will not load web page (I also have Internet Explorer 8 installed).

Fire Fox will not load web pages. It may have something to do with proxy settings but I have reset this to Auto-Detect which is where it has always been in the past but still nothing. Something has reset my proxy settings in the past which caused a similar problem but doesn't seem to be the issue this time. I have Internet Explorer 8.0 installed on computer right now and it seems to work.

After looking into this further I checked firewall settings in Panda A.V. For Firefox they were set to Custom settings which effectively disabled it. I changed setting to Outbound only like Internet Explorer and other programs and Firefox seems to work fine now. Hope this helps others who have experienced this problem. I have teenage children who use computer a lot (Face Book, etc.) so the root of the problem may have been Malware, Adware, or something else but hopefully Panda has taken care of this.

  • Help!  Safari won't fully load web pages until I refresh!  Why and any suggestions on how to retify this??

For several months now safari has not been loading web pages properly (not them all, it is a bit random, but maybe every 3rd or 4th page I open?).  The blue loading bar gets to about 1.5 inches from the end and stops.  I can then click on the bar and refresh and it loads no problems but this is highly inconvenient and I can't seem to fix it.
I have reset safari, updated all software, I am on a mac book pro, I have Version 5.1.5 safari.
Would this be an internet problem rather than a software problem?  How would I check.
It's not very convenient when you're doing something important like trying to get tickets for an event and then it jams, and you know you need to refresh but if you refresh you've lost the tickets...
    Any suggestions welcome

    Hi Krisztina ..
Using OpenDNS can help when pages won't load properly.
Use OpenDNS for better speed, more security, includes anti phishing filters, prevents browser redirects, blocks the flashback trojan, and it's free.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
    Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
    208.67.222.222
    Click +
    208.67.220.220
    Then click OK.
Apple suggests using OpenDNS here >  Safari 5.0.1 or later: Slow or partial webpage loading, or webpage cannot be found
