LoadData in IE

Hi,
I'm trying to load XML dataset by dynamically setting the
Spry's setURL and using the Spry's loadData() . This is all being
triggered by an onclick event to a defined function.
The code:
function getPhotos(year){
alert(year);
dsl.setURL("includes/get_photos.php?year="+year);
dsl.loadData();
works perfect in FF
but doesnt seem to load nor throw any errors out in IE...
i'm currently working locally. What seems to be preventing IE
from loading and displaying the data?
Kendall

Hi Kendall,
What version of IE are you using? If you open up SpryData.js,
what version are you using? 1.4?
If you are using IE 7, it doesn't allow loading of file://
URLs via the XMLHttpRequest object. We've worked around that in
Spry Pre-Release 1.5 by forcing IE to use the ActiveX version of
the XMLHttpRequest object that IE6 used.
Another thing to check is to make sure you don't have
extraneous whitespace at the start of the XML file, before the XML
directive.

  • Adding Query String Parameters to Table loadData

    I am new to ADF/JDeveloper, so hopefully this is a simple question...
    I have created an ADF task flow containing a table of fake weather data. This data is loaded using a URL Service Data Control. The URL service takes a zip code as a querystring parameter and returns a CSV of weather data. All of this works fine when I create the data control, test the URL and add the table. However, right now I am hard coding the zip code into my loadData argument (where I submit the zip code).
    What I want to do is read a querystring parameter from the JSPX page my task flow resides on and submit that zip code to loaddata in my bindings. When I write the EL that I think should do this (the same EL works when I put it in an outputText box), the task flow fails to load the correct zip code.
    I have tried creating a backing bean and loading the data from there, but this doesn't seem to work either. So what is the "ADF way" to do this?
    Here are my current bindings from the task flow page definition (see NDValue):
    <bindings>
    <methodAction id="loadData" RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="invokeMethod"
    MethodName="loadData" IsViewObjectMethod="false"
    DataControl="ZipWeatherDC" InstanceName="ZipWeatherDC"
    ReturnName="ZipWeatherDC.methodResults.loadData_ZipWeatherDC_loadData_result">
    <NamedData NDName="zip"
    NDValue="#{param.zipcode}" NDType="java.lang.String"/>
    </methodAction>
    <tree IterBinding="loadDataIterator" id="Return">
    <nodeDefinition DefName="net.hross.adf.weather.model.ZipWeatherDC.loadData_Data">
    <AttrNames>
    <Item Value="dayOfWeek"/>
    <Item Value="hiTemp"/>
    <Item Value="lowTemp"/>
    <Item Value="precip"/>
    <Item Value="sky"/>
    <Item Value="zipCode"/>
    <Item Value="img"/>
    </AttrNames>
    </nodeDefinition>
    </tree>
    </bindings>
    Thanks in advance for any advice!

    OK.  I typed the Name manually. But I neglected to hit the tab key twice to arrive at the Value input field.
    Screenshot 1
    After hitting tab key twice, value field is in focus and 2nd lightening bolt appears.
    Gads!  No wonder people mess this up.
    Thanks, David.  I appreciate your clarification.

  • How to make loadData() work in IE?

    I use Spry 1.6.1 and IE8
    I can’t make loadData() work in IE. I have searched the forum (and others), seen some hints based on headers in the <head> section, but none of them worked in my case :
    <meta http-equiv="Pragma" content="no-cache"/>
    <meta http-equiv="Expires" content="-1"/>
    <meta http-equiv="cache-control" content="no-cache"/>
    My HTML file displays a basic ds1 dataset constructed from an external xml file (with the option useCache : false), and a button calling a javascript function {ds1.loadData() ;} in order to refresh the display when the client wants to do so, as new childs can be added to the xml file through an other application.
    The loadData() refresh from the server works fine in FireFox and Safari, not in IE where I run into the cache problem.
    Is there today a solution to this?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Arnout,
    I have attached the html file in which is the dataset display that I'd like to refresh with loadData(),  and the xml file.
    At this point the xml file is static and you get to modify it manually in order to check whether the change is then reflected in the html display after the loadData() method is called with the button click.
    It updates fine in FF and Safari, not in IE unless the client has manually cleared the navigation history (cache) before.
    I'd suspect that the problem is not in SpryData.js, which is by the way a VERY NICE framework. However, unless there is an html or php fix, elegant or not, loadData() and the other methods using loadData(), such as setLoadInterval(), are useless if not working in IE, whoever is to blame.
    Do you know of any fix?
    Thanks for your support.

  • Spry state to show a message for a failed dsMonth.loadData() action

    Below is my code:

    </div>
    In case the file "DATA/2008/February.xml" doesn't exist, I
    want the region <div id="DataTable"... that previously shows the
    data from
    "DATA/2008/January.xml" to turn out blank, and contain a
    message "Data for February hasn't been updated yet". How can I do
    this?
    Thanks for all your helps.

    I should mention that in this sample I presumed the file
    existed but didn't have any data.
    <event>
    <date>
    </date>

    If the is no file on the server, you can use the error state
    to show it.

  • Vista Gadgets and loaddata() problem?

    I am trying to create a Windows Vista Gadget. Most of
    everything seems to be working fine except when I try and change
    the xmlDataSet.
    The purpose of the gadget is to display a bunch of records
    based on ids that are inputed through a settings page. The values
    are saved and passed back to the main page, and an event is
    triggered to update the main page. I can assign any javascript
    function to the event. I have verified that the event is triggered
    (via writing out the new ids that were saved in the settings page),
    but the data in the table is not getting updated. I am changing the
    xmlDataSet url with a different querystring parameter and I am
    setting useCache: false for the dataset.
    Here is a code sample:
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="js/xpath.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript"
    src="js/SpryData.js"></script>
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    System.Gadget.Flyout.onShow = flyoutShowing;
    System.Gadget.Flyout.file = "flyout.htm";
    System.Gadget.settingsUI = "settings.htm";
    System.Gadget.onSettingsClosed = SettingsClosed;
    //eventhandler
    //init the dsEvents dataset
    var dsEvents = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("
    http://mypath/gadgetData.aspx?eventIDList=0",
    "eventslist/event",{ method: "POST", postData: "", useCache: false
    function setContentText() {
    var EventIDs = System.Gadget.Settings.read("EventIDs");
    if(EventIDs == ""){
    document.getElementById("testarea").innerText = "data not
    loaded";
    }else{
    dsEvents = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("
    http://mypath/gadgetData.aspx?eventIDList="+EventIDs,
    "eventslist/event",{ method: "POST", postData: "", useCache: false
    dsEvents.loadData();
    document.getElementById("testarea").innerText = EventIDs ;
    return true;
    //this function is called by the event handler
    function SettingsClosed() {
    setContentText();
    </script>
    I know the event handler is triggered because
    document.getElementById("testarea").innerText = EventIDs ; sets the
    div to the event ids.
    Any help on this would be appreciated.

    Little rectangles usually indicate that the font has no glyph for the character, while un-decodable characters are displayed as question marks. Unfortunately, in the new fonts they came up with for Vista, I often see recatangles with with question marks inside them, and I still haven't figured out what they're supposed to mean. Let's see if we can eliminate encoding problems first. Run this on both platforms and see if they print the same thing: public class Test
      public static void main(String... args)
        System.out.println(java.nio.charset.Charset.defaultCharset());
    }

  • Prevent region rendering prior to LoadData()

    How to prevent the region from rendering upon opening the page.

    In your <script> block add:
    Spry.Data.initRegionsOnLoad = false
    This will stop Spry from initializing your regions.
    But before your do a LoadData(). Make sure you
    call:
    Spry.Data.initRegions();
    So your regions initialize.

  • Differents Xpath filters and loadData() call

    Hi, I set up a dataset which can be recalled by passing some
    parameters to filter the returned records. Into the XML file there
    are two node: 'orders' and 'filter_param', they are both at the
    same level. To set up the dataset I write:
    var dsOrdini = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(XMLdataURL+"&func=XMLordersList"+dsOrdiniFilterStr,
    "order_list/orders/order", { useCache: false });
    var dsOrdiniFiltro = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(
    XMLdataURL+"&func=XMLordersList"+dsOrdiniFilterStr,
    "order_list/filter_params", { useCache: false });
    tha records are called by a dataregion and by this code:
    dsOrdini.url =
    XMLdataURL+"&func=XMLordersList"+dsOrdiniFilterStr;
    dsOrdiniFiltro.url =
    XMLdataURL+"&func=XMLordersList"+dsOrdiniFilterStr;
    dsOrdini.loadData();
    dsOrdiniFiltro.loadData();
    every time the client changes the filter's parameter
    this all works! but I thought that this would have coused
    only ONE call to the server for the data because the url string of
    thetwo datasets are the same (are identical), the calls are TWO
    instead, one for each dataset!!
    could you please help me to understand where I am wrong??
    In other words I need to create a dataset for one xpath
    filter and another dataset for another xpath filter from the same
    XML data!
    I need also to use the directive { useCache: false } (without
    this the spry frame sends only ONE call to the server ) because the
    data on the server could change between different calls with the
    same filter set)
    Thank you a lot
    Cescoh

    Thank you for your reply and help. I am sorry for not making
    things clear. I am new to spry so let me try again.
    dsProducts loads the xml data from an api through getxml.cfm
    proxy. dsRefineValue and dsOffer use the exact same xml data but
    require different xpaths. What is the best method to get at the xml
    data required for dsRefineValue and dsOffer? Do I set the file as
    null for dsRefineValue and dsOffer and reload the same xml two more
    times (This doesn't seem to be smart) with different xpaths, or is
    there a way to get at the xml loaded from dsProducts?
    How would I specifically call dsRefineValue and dsOffer?
    var dsProducts = new
    Spry.Data.XMLDataSet(null,null,{useCache:false});
    ????????? var dsOffer = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet( ?
    ,"ProductSearch/Products/Product/Offer",{useCache:false});
    ????????? var dsRefineValue = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet( ?
    ,"ProductSearch/Refinements/Refinement/RefineValue",{useCache:false});
    Does this clear it up or am I being more confusing?

  • Spry loadData with paged view problem

    Ive created an "inbox" for information coming from a database
    for different individuals. This is something that gets used
    continueously by many people to manage the work flow process.
    People can get new things in there inbox at anytime, so I made the
    inbox non-cashed with a refresh interval. The problem is if the
    person has used the paging to get to another page, the refresh
    causes the paging to go pack to the first page. How can I prevent
    this? This is like the last bug to deal with before we can go live
    with the new spry version.
    Thanks
    Greg

    After finding another post that wasn't exactly what I was
    looking for I have come up with some code. However it doesn't work.
    Basicly the page just gets realllllllllllllllllllllly laggy.
    var dsInbox = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet("url here",
    "dataset/row", {useCashe:false, loadInterval:10000};
    var pvInbox = new Spry.Data.PagedView(dsInbox,
    {pageSize:20});
    var pvInboxInfo = pvInbox.getPagingInfo();
    pvInboxInfo.addObserver(resetPagedView);
    var currentPageNumber;
    function resetPagedView(notificationType, notifier, data) {
    if ( notificationType == "onPreLoad" ) {
    currentPageNumber = pvInbox.getCurrentPage();
    if ( notificationType == "onPostLoad" ) {
    pvInbox.goToPage(currentPageNumber);
    pvInbox.preProcessData();
    }

    I've already verified that Oracle.DataAccess is referenced in my EF project, and I'm including oci.dll, orannzsbb11.dll, oraociei11.dll, and OraOps11w.dll in my main library (fat installation).
    This configuration worked when using the older ADO.Net DataSets, but now I want to use EF 4.4 (DataBase first/model first/whatever it's not Code First) because it's just easier to code against. So obviously I'm missing something when it comes to deploying my solution. Any ideas?
    Note that this is a desktop application using MS OneClick.

    Same issue:
    The specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. ---> System.ArgumentException: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed.
    You mention "Sounds like the client system doesn't have an Oracle client installed."
    I am using Win Server 2008 R2. I have installed what i think is the right client. How do i tell?
    What is the right client? Where do i get it?

  • Photo Gallery thumbnails in business catalyst render in different sizes in different browsers

    Photo Gallery thumbnails in business catalyst render in different sizes in safari and chrome but are fine in firefox. What is the issue with Safari? I have tried the different algorithm options such as fill_proportional etc and firefox is the only browser that displays correctly. I thought safari was the most standards compatible browser - what's the problem here?

    Hi,
    If you have seperate XML file but with the same basic structure then you can change the XML a Spry dataset refers to and regenerate the spry region without reloading the full page.
    So on my photo gallery page I can change the album the photos are shown from via the seturl sprydata function as below.  dsPhotos being my Spry dataset that points to the relevant XML dataset with my image references and captions etc.  My XML is actually dynamically generated from Picasa RSS feeds (and RSS feeds are XML) but the principle will be the same with your static XML.
    First I add an event listener for when someone clicks on an album (the li tag within my div with the id "albums" holds a photo and title for each album.)
    function Albums()
    var myalbums = Spry.$$("#albums li", "TabbedPanels1")
    var rows = dsAlbums.getData();
    var setListener = function( element, value )
      Spry.Utils.addEventListener( element, "click", function(){ showAlbum( value ); },false );
    for( var i = 0, length = myalbums.length; i < length; i++ )
      setListener( myalbums[i], i );
    Then this is the code which changes the photo album to be shown. (when the user clicks the relevant album)
    function showAlbum(i)
    pauseShow();
    pImage = 'No';
    var rows = dsAlbums.getData();
    var albumid = rows[i]["albumid"];
    var url = "xml/PicasaAphotoFeed.asp?albumid=" + albumid;
    dsPhotos.setURL(url);
    dsPhotos.loadData();
    var rowcount = dsAlbums.getRowCount() - 1;
    var nextalbum;
    var navnext;
    var n;
    The page is here www.thehmc.co.uk/photo5.html is you want to see it in context.
    In your case showAlbum would switch between Frank.xml or Wolfie.xml depending on how you decide to name your xml datasets.
    Regards
    Phil
