Loaded iLife'008 and now sent email gets stuck in outbox

Folks,
I refreshed to OS X 10.4.11 2 weeks ago and it has been a good upgrade. Tuesday night 09-16-08 I loaded iLife'08 followed by a software update. From that time on my sent mail is stuck in the outbox with the following error message.
"This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The connection to the server "smtp.mac.com" on port 25 timed out."
I have deleted the outbox, refreshed email, deleted the outbox and restarted the computer - neither worked.
I have reviewed all email addresses and they are exactly like they were prior to adding iLife'08.
I have only one account with MAC. smpt.mac.com:(my mac account name) on port 25.
And I do not want to upgrade to 10.5.x.
Best regards,
LD

Change the port to 587 and try again. Port 25 is often blocked by ISPs to mail servers other than their own to reduce the amount of spam sent from their networks.

How do you fix Sent emails getting s tuck in Outbox for a period of time before they actually send?
The error message says that my "sender address is rejected by the server", but it eventually does send.

Have you tried a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!

  • Sent Emails getting stuck in Outbox!

When I send emails (I use both .mac and Roadrunner accounts) it goes really slow and at the top it says "copying emails to outbox"". Then, the emails are sent to the outbox and refuse to send. I have spoken to my internet provider (Roadrunner) and they told me to contact Mac. I can send emails online using their webmail just fine.
I was able to send emails using this program until a few weeks ago.

RoadRunner is my ISP also and the problem as described sounds like there is an issue with the Outbox mailbox.
    Try the following:
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
The Outbox.mbox represents "Out" in the mailboxes drawer and is shared by all accounts.
Delete the Outbox.mbox and empty the Trash.
This will delete any messages contained in the Outbox so if you don't want any of the messages deleted, move the messages from the Outbox to the account's Drafts mailbox before quitting Mail to target the Outbox.mbox.
Launch Mail and a new Outbox.mbox will be created automatically by Mail within the Mailboxes folder.
Test if this resolves the problem.

  • I loaded Firefox 4 and now I'm getting Java errors "uninstal set" what do I do?

I never got this message until I loaded Firefox 4. Now I'm getting this message and it's a pain.

Using Tools->Add-ons I disabled the Java plugins and the problem went away. I re-enabled them and it still works. I haven't rebooted yet.

  • Iphoto won't open and has a message that it may be damaged or incomplete when I try to open.  It worked fine yesterday and I loaded ilife 11 and now iphoto won't open.

After I loaded ilife 11 and tried to open iphoto, I could not and had a message saying it may be damaged or incomplete.  It was working fine yesterday and I've never seen this message.  What should I do?

First run Software Update so you have the latest version.
If you still have trouble then hold down CMD and OPT as you click on iPhoto.  It will give you options to rebuild your library.

  • I tried to eject a cd, didn't work so I turned off the computer and now it keeps getting stuck at the gray screen. How do I fix it?

Here are a few more details. I put in a game cd for a windows computer, once I opened the folder on the desktop I noticed the install application was .exe so I tried to eject the cd but no matter what I tried on the computer it wouldn't come out. I will say though that I didn't try the manual cd eject cause I didn't have anything small to hit the button in the cd drive with. It was getting late so we decided to just turn off the computer and leave it for the next day. I can't remember if we turned the computer off with apple shut down or by holding down the power button but we walked away pretty quickly before it was fully shut down. The next day the computer won't turn on. When I walked into the room I was the computer stuck with a grey background with the apple logo showing and the circular thing under it frozen. Since no one was in the room I held down the power button and turned the computer off. We tried to start the computer again later but again it keeps getting stuck at the same spot. Now when we hold the power button down to turn it off I'm not sure if it's really turning off all the way. The screen goes dark but it sounds like the fan is still going. I tried disconnecting everything but the keyboard and mouse but when I started it up again it got stuck on the grey screen with just the apple logo. I'd really apprechiate help on this cause I live in Germany right now and support call centers work so much worse when you don't speak the language well... Thanks for any help you can give!

Restart your computer while holding down left mouse key. That will eject the CD and your Mac will start as normal.

  • Why are emails getting stuck in outbox and picture msgs not sending??

I just traded my iphone 4s and got an iphone5.
I have my work email (exchange) and my gmail account set up on my phone. As soon as I updated to IOS 6, I started to have these problems:
When I send emails out, they get stuck in my outbox.
When sending picture msgs, they just stay in sending status.
A problem with Internet links not opening on safari.
I did everything that you can think of, restarted the phone, reset network settings, restored to factory settings and setup as NEW iphone, checked all email and exchange settings (all are correct) and they way they worked on my 4S, deleted my exchange profile on the work server.
I did all that you can think of and nothing was a permanent fix.
Apple Geniuses, please help us get this resolved. Other co-works are having the same problems.

Are you still using iOS 7.0.3 as stated in your profile?  if so, update to 7.1.  If already on 7.1:
    1.  Reset phone (no data loss): Press both the home and power buttons, releasing when the Apple logo appears.
    2.  Delete and re-enter  your iCloud account.

  • Mail in Lion - Emails Get Stuck in Outbox

I just got a brand new MacbookAIr with Lion preinstalled.  I have three different email accounts (Exchange, MobileMe and Gmail).  When I send an email, from any of the three accounts, it gets stuck in the Outbox for an extended period of time.  By closing and reopening Mail, or by deleted and resending the email, eventually it will get sent, but this is crazy.
I called APL-CARE yesterday and the told me because I was in a hotel, the hotel may be blocking some ports.  Sounds hard to believe, especially because the mail eventually goes out.  Today I am in a different hotel (different chain, etc.) and am having the exact same problem.  This can not be a policy of hotels these days, can it?
Has anyone else had this issue with Lion?  I had been using Mail with these three accounts on Snow for a long time and its worked fine - never an issue.
I hope I'm not the only one with this issue.

  • Emails getting "stuck" in Outbox

IOS 8.02, iPhone 4S (but also happens with iPad2).
I keep sending emails and they get "stuck", don't send, and end up in Outbox folder. I have to  open them, re-address them (original addresses are gone) and try to send again.  Often takes 2 or 3 times.
Happens under cellphone data with great signal and also under home strong wifi.
Little wheel spins a long time in upper left.  Seems to happen most with larger emails.  Seems to happen most with my work Exchange account (but work checked their servers- apparently OK).
All started with IOS8.  Appreciate any help -thanks !

I am getting the exact same problem on my iPad3.
Using it at home via wifi, and this morning I tried to send my first email since I upgraded it from iOS 7.x to 8.0.2 (12A405). I have checked the configuration of my mail account server and it does use SMTP Authentication, but does not appear to use encryption. In my email client (Claws-Mail under Linux) settings indicate that the system is using port 25 for SMTP and 110 for POP3.
iOS8 must have changed something in it's configuration settings with respect to sending emails. Is it possible that it now attempts to force use of encryption? If so, where would I look to see if that option can be disabled?
It is almost certain that this defect was introduced with iOS8 - nothing else on my iPad has changed apart from this upgrade.

  • 6120C, email getting stuck in outbox

    Hi,
Until the end of last week I could send emails fine; then looking today I had half a dozen, all stuck in the outbox! When I try to manually send them, they just sit there.... staying in the outbox, flagged as 'Queued'.
Anyway, I have two email accounts set up on my phone (different email addresses), so I deleted one of them (luckily the second is on IMAP so the emails are on the server).
I then rebooted the phone, tried to send a test message and... no luck, stuck in the outbox!! What is weird is I haven't changed any email settings in the last week!
Anyone any ideas heer - short of resetting the phone to factory?
    Solved!

    Hi,
Sorry that's not the problem - the two email accounts are on separate web servers, which I both own & run! So the email our settings are fine - and it doesn't matter which account I use, one is POP and one IMAP, on different servers, I am suddenly getting all emails stuck in the outbox! Could installing third-party software ( I downloaded a couple of games recently) suddenty cause problems?
    Thanks
Ah, sorry, it was hard to tell from your first post how up on email you were.
I don't know if the third parties would affect it, it's possible I suppose...  Did the problems start as soon as you'd installed the games?
Another thing to try is installing a third party e-mail client, for example Profimail is quite good. I think they have a free demo. Even if you didn't buy the full version, it would at least give us an idea if your phone is capable of sending e-mail.

    AAAHH HAA; I GOT IT!!!!!!!
The problem is your CONTACTS. STOP deleteing and playing around with the deleting the outbox, that ain't it. I found a post from some guy named Russ who is a Microsoft MVP, and the issue is that some of your contacts are messed up. Its got to do with the display of your contacts, and adding them using a Phone/PDA. Easiest fix is when this problem happens do the following: 1. Click File and Work Offline; 2. Go to the Outbox and open the email; 3. Double click EACH email address you are trying to send it to (when you double click; it SHOULD open the contact card, BUT eventually you will get one with an error). Obviously the one/many with the error are the problem. Just go into your contacts and either fix the "DISPLAY AS" blank or just simply create a new contact card for the person.
Then try to resend: VOILA!!! Problem solved. I have done MUCH testing on this, and spent about 5-HOURS. Thanks MS. There are a TON of postings all over the web for this, and HOPEFULLY people will find this post.
***The problem has something to do with importing contacts via an iPhone or ANY phone for that matter. Its not just the iPhone, even Windows Mobile phones have the issue.
After you recreate the Contact the messages will not be stuck in the Outbox anymore. If it happens again, just follow the directions cause you probably have another contact that has an issue.

  • Why is my sent mail getting stuck in outbox and not sending?

I have tried rebooting, Closing the mail application, And deleting my iCloud account from my phone. Messages do not get sent   , mail says "sending" for awhile and then they appear in my outbox with the error exclamation icon. Tapping icon gives a menu saying connection to outgoing sever failed.

  • My daughter switched off computer when I was changing location of music files in preferences change. I had not saved this and now my iTunes gets stuck at checking iTunes library?  Please someone help!

itunes stuck on checking iTunes library!

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit iTunes if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash, if they exist:
              Application Support/SyncServices
              Caches/com.apple.iTunes
              Caches/QCCompositionRepository-com.apple.iTunes.cache
              Containers/com.apple.BKAgentService
              Saved Application State/com.apple.iTunes.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try iTunes again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit iTunes again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
              iTunes
Note: you are not moving the iTunes application. You’re moving a folder named “iTunes.” Test. If iTunes now works, delete the iTunes folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit iTunes again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with either of the following strings:
              com.apple.iTunes
              com.apple.mobile.iTunes
Move them all to the Desktop.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Test again. This time iTunes should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes iTunes to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit iTunes again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting iTunes and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • Outbound emails getting stuck in Outbox on Mac Mail client

This has appeared from time to time, and seems to resolve itself.  What's up?  If I dont get a response to an email after a day or so, I have learned to check Outbox "On My Mac" and I often find half a dozen or more messages sitting there for multiple email accounts.  Sometimes the recipients have actually received them.  I like using the Mac email client because it is an easy way to get an integrated view of mail from multiple accounts, but I dont trust it anymore to send my mail.
Inbound messages seem to arrive (almost) on time.
    Advice?

RoadRunner is my ISP also and the problem as described sounds like there is an issue with the Outbox mailbox.
    Try the following:
Quit Mail first and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Mailboxes > Outbox.mbox.
