Loaded Leopard on iBook - where did printer drivers go?

After I installed Leopard on my wife's iBook G4, she found that she could not print because there were no printers listed for any programs. After doing some searching for the printers, I decided that I needed to reload the drivers and when I went to the Utilities folder in Applications, there is no Printer Setup Utility icon! Does that mean that I was omitted during the Leopard installation? And if so, do I have to reinstall the entire Leopard program again (plus does that mean that I have to use another of the install packages of the five that I got with the Family Pack?)?
The reason I went on line to by Leopard was because she purchased an iPad and you can't do anything with it unless you have at least Leopard on a G4 Power PC!

When you installed leopard on the computer did you update or did you fully install the OS?
I think your best bet would be to go to the website of the brand of your printer and download and install the correnct printer driver for your system. Apple may not have included a driver for your printer in leopard. Once you've done this, then go into system prefs, go to print and fax and click the +. Your printer should be listed there if its connected to the computer. Just follow the steps to add the printer

  • Where are printer drivers stored in OS 10.8?

I am trying to set up a Epson Stylus Photo R3000 as a new printer on OS 10.8. The printer setup locates the printer and automatically selects Epson Stylus R3000 with the notation "The selected printer software is available from Apple. Click Add to download and add this printer." However, clicking on Add leads eventually to an error message: "Can't install the software for the EPSON Epson Stylus Photo R3000 because it is not currently available fromthe Software Update server." This result blocks me from setting up the printer.
I know the driver is part of the Epson driver software package that is installed with OS 10.8. I would like to select it manually. My question is where are printer drivers stored? How do I select a driver?
    Thanks in advance!

While a bit of a stretch, you can download the entire Epson printer package from Apple and install it. This will include all drivers for all Epson devices as opposed to the one just for your system. The package is 1GB in size, but will include everything supported.
The package can be downloaded here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398
This following knowledgebase article says your printer is definitely supported, so the driver should be in that package: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#epson

    hope this helps someone.

There is no change to this problem after 6 months since the last post. Put simply, and as stated in the previous posts, there is no way to scan a document and receive the image on your PC. If you are working with graphics for any length of time or want to create an image for inclusion as an image in a document or web page using this piece of equipment will not allow you to do so.
Great shame as every other function works well - it cannot be beyond the wit of HP to include a Windows application that enables you to scan an image, receive it in the software you are using at the time (e.g. Outlook, Word, Photoshop...) and use it in your work.
HP Printers several years older than this £1000+ Enterprise printer were able to do this simple job and have done so for a great many years. Just being able to use Microsoft's Fax and Scan would be start.

  • Where did Print Preview go in Firesworks CS5?

I upgraded from Fireworks 8 to Fireworks CS5 and I can't find Print Preview. Where did it go. I'm wasting multiple sheets of paper trying to print a group of images.

I think the Print command taps into the Mac operating system. I've got both FW8 and CS5 on Mac OS 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). When I click Print in either version, I get the same dialog box:
I usually choose the PDF options at the bottom of this dialog. Come to think of it, if Preview is missing, you can print a PDF to your desktop instead. It's one or two more steps, but it will save you paper.
Also, for simple tasks, don't overlook the native Mac OS options. Mac's Preview application, in particular, has some great features. If you open up a photo in Preview and choose Print, you'll get a much friendlier print dialog, including a small thumbnail preview (this is in Snow Leopard):

  • Where are printer drivers stored?

I had a terrible day yesterday, and I had to reinstall my system software. I kept all of the same settings- but when I went to print with my Epson Stylus R2400, it couldn't find the driver. It assigned some bogus printer driver. So I went into printer setup utility, and tried to find the driver under Info. It wasn't there! I lost my original disk, so I downloaded a current driver for my R2400 from Epson, and restarted. No luck- the driver was the same bogus one? I went down the list and my newly downloaded driver wasn't there? I tried to find it, and I can't?
So my questions are- where does a downloaded driver go on my computer, and how do I assign it to my printer?

Where they go depends on which browser, and what the Preference setting is.
If you used Safari, start it if not running, go to the Windows Meu item, select Downloads, right click on that driver you downloaded and choose either Reveal in Finder, or Open... you need to install it after you download it.
    After install do this...
Safe Boot , (holding Shift key down at bootup), off the HD & use Disk Utility from there to Repair Permissions, reboot once more.

  • Where did 'print' on Safari go?

I'm using Safari on an iPad mini and an iPad 2. Both are running iOS 8.1.3. I have an Airprint-enabled printer on my wifi network and I can print for example from the Mail app. But when I try to print from Safari (using he little square with the arrow pointing upwards), I get lots of sharing options, but no print.
How then can I print a web page? It's got to be possible, since it's such an ordinary thing to do.
    TIA

It is a built in feature in the actions options. It cannot be turned off like some of the other ones.

  • Where did the Stream 7 drivers go?

The support page for downloading drivers for the HP Stream 7 tablet (any model) has disappeared from the HP website.
Navigating to the HP Stream 7 support page, Selecting "Software and Drivers", then "Go directly to software and drivers page", Operating System "Windows", then Version "Windows 8.1" (the only choices), then clicking the Update button, gives a message "No software or drivers are available for this product with the selected operating system. Please make a different selection, or visit the product homepage. " This happens using Firefox, IE 11, or Chrome.
These drivers have been missing for at least a few weeks, and multiple forum users have also had no luck finding them. Before that time the drivers seemed to come and go randomly, but they've stayed missing now for weeks.  One dorum user has posted direct FTP links to the drivers, and they might be the latest version, but not really sure.
Where did the drivers go, HP?

This is for the 5701 as of a few days ago.

  • After upgrading to snow leopard my Epson printer drivers did not load and i get an error 'rasteroescpll failed'. I have tried reloading the driver to no effect. Can anyone help?

I have just upgraded to Snow Leopard and at the end of the upgrade the printer drivers failed to load. I have since updated them myself (Epson BX305) but still get an eror message 'rasteroescpll failed'. can anyone help?
I have an Imac previously running 5.8.0 and now running 6.3.0.
    thank you
    Hugh

The current driver version is 8.67.
    Delete you printer.
    Delete the folder /Library/Prnters/EPSON
    Delete the folder /Library/Caches/Epson
Unplug your printer from your computer for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.  You should be prompted to download the new drivers.
If all that fails, you can get the new drivers from Apple at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1398

  • How do I print a mirror image?  Where did the old functionality go?

Within the last several months I was able to print a mirror image of my document to my HP DeskJet F4180 in high resolution. I don't know if it is the new HP drivers, or my new Snow Leopard OS but now I can' figure out how to do it again. I can grab a screen shot in and flip it in Preview but it ends up printing in low resolution.
I have printed mirror images in the past from my PDF applciations and I think from Office 2008 (PowerPoint). I find no documents saved on my hard drive that come up saved as a reverse image so I suspect that I was using a printer feature not an application feature to print mirror images.
    Where did this functionality go?

    Found it!
Use the check box marked Flip Image. Didn't is say mirror before?

  • Can't load drivers for Canon MP610 onto new iMac since loading Leopard

Hello, all you amazingly helpful folks.
Bought new iMac + Canon MP610 yesterday. Successfully installed printer on 3 Macs and a PC, and all was well.
Then--discovered that Leopard DVD was hiding in the box. So, installed Leopard uneventfully. Then--found that scanner wouldn't respond to any commands, and subsequently, I could no longer print from the new iMac ONLY (other Macs still printing fine).
So--I deleted all Canon printer-related folders on the new iMac, and tried to re-load the drivers from the Canon CD. MP Drivers won't load. Keep getting FAILURE message. Tried re-booting, unplugging, in all combinations. Printer still works from the other Macs. Maybe loading Leopard after the original MP610 installation confused things??
    What to do next?
Also--NO DRIVERS available for MP610 on Canon web page.
    Any assistance much appreciated!!!
    Thank you.

You may have already done this so forgive me if you have, but I would try deleting the contents of the /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinters folder. I would then navigate to the /Library/Receipts and delete the Canon MP610 xxx.pkg file.
Then control-click on the Printers list in Print & fax and click on "Reset printing system..."
Then empty the Trash, unplug the MP610 USB and restart the iMac.
Then I would install the MP610 v6.91 OS X driver. I found it via the Canon Australia web site (http://www.canon.com.au/products/allin_one_printers/all_in_one_printers/mp610support.aspx).
Once the installation is complete, reconnect the MP610 to the iMac and wait. The printer should automatically appear in the Print & Fax application.
Also, in future, you should be posting this on the Leopard printing forum...

  • How do you reinstall just print drivers in Leopard?

I just began using my MacBook Pro running Leopard with an Epson Sylus Photo 2200. I am having trouble printing with it. I made the mistake of using the disc that came with the printer to install print drivers to my Mac. I am unable to print most of the time from most applications. Epson's web support says Leopard has the drivers already built in. Did I over write the drivers when I installed the old ones from the disc? And if so can I reinstall Leopard's Epson drivers without having to reinstall Leopard completely? Thanks in advance for you help.
    Steve

you are right, I forgot about that. this is definitely easier. to elaborate on john's post. insert the leopard install DVD open it in finder and double-click on optional installs->optional installs.mpkg. follow the instructions. on the screen with the choice of software to install choose printer drivers.

  • Where did my I photo library go?  Just upgraded to Leopard on a new Imac

Where did my iPhoto Library go? I just upgraded to Leopard and went to iPhoto and there is nothing there. I'm on a 2.8 Gh Imac and did a software migration before loading Leopard. When I click media in any of the iWork suite, nothing comes up in the media inspectors. Did I lose them all?

HI TD - thanks for your response.
I did the firewire migration from the old imac G5 in Tiger. Then I loaded Leopard. My photos folder is empty on this new one. I've been thinking of uploading from the old computer before giving it over to my husband. But, if there's another way to find those photos on this iMac, that would be great.
(I had a similar dilemma with iTunes because I didn't know the music wouldn't import on it's own and found a way to make that happen, so I'm assuming that I can do the same with iPhoto, if I can find where the files are!)

  • Print Drivers for Snow Leopard

I've just updated a friend's iMac to Snow Leopard. Now she can't use her Epson Stylus Color 740 printer.  I remember years back having a similar problem. Somehow the Mac ease of use crumbled on the seamless printer updating. I no longer remember how I solved the problem. I think I need to know two things 1) Where can I get a proper driver and 2) once I obtain one, how do I install it?  I suspect I'll find the driver easily but not sure about installation, i.e., where does it go?
I apologise for being so not-up-to-speed and truly appreciate any effort you make in assistance.

You can find printer drivers at Epson's support site.
Printer drivers are installed along with Snow Leopard. Remove the printer and then re-Add.
Download and install Apple's Epson package: Epson Printer Drivers 2.16.
If the printer is too old for any of the above then try: Gutenprint 5.2.9.

  • Where are the print drivers found?

I have a Brother HL 2040 laser printer. THe Brother website has a version 2.2 driver for this printer. I downloaded and installed. When I add the printer I keep getting version 1.4 driver.
Can someone tell me where are the drivers found on my iMac?
Also I am trying to get this to print via a Linksys wireless print server. Do I use the ip address for the print server or the printer when adding this.
I tried using the print server IP but I get a "printer paused" issue. I think I need the new print driver.
thanks in advance for any help.

I have not gotten the driver to update to the newest version. I deleted the Brother Folders as mentioned in the replies, no joy. No matter what I do it ends up 1.4 not 2.0.
Version 1.4 worked OK for a USB connection, so I went forward with trying to get the network connection going. By trying every combination available I got it to work.
What HP jetdesk-socket has to do with my printer...escapes me. But that combination with version 1.4 driver works.
I will leave well enough alone.
I have 2 other computer to update to SL.....maybe.

  • Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?

Where did the print setting "Rewrap message to fit" go in Mail 7?
All text prints too small. Settings for font size haven't changed and the emails print out much smaller than the view settings.
I don't see the options for "Rewrap message to fit" or "Keep fonts the same size".
    Suggestions?

I have the same problem. Text and the info with the "To" header all prints very small. I also cannot find the controls described. Just updated to Mavericks, never had problem before this. Same printer, and problem also occurs on another different model printer I tried for a test.
