Loaded osx wrong. cant fihure out what to do
Forgive my ignorance. Based on the prodding of a co-worker, this is my first mac. It is an i-book g3 500mhz. Came with os9 and i tried to load OSX. I formatted during install and now OSX works, but has lost the dvd and cdrw programs plus who knows what else. Apparently I wasnt supposed to format during installation. Now I cant get OS9 to reinstall because it gets an error. Furthermore, I get an error about classic environment not there when i try to run anything. HELP???????

The fact you lost the CD is not good. Keep better track of your CDs. Formatting basically wipes the drive. Mac OS X does not include Mac OS 9, rather only includes a method of running 9 if it is already on your computer known as Classic, and with that machine you can also use the Startup Disk to restart back into Mac OS 9 once it is installed there if you install the 9 drivers. The drivers are not necessary if all you need is Classic, but to use Classic, you need 9.1 or later to be installed.
Did you backup your data before attempting to install Mac OS X, and is there any data you wish to recover? If not, I'd try and get a replacement disk for the one you lost that is retail. Never use system specific disks from other Macs to do installation.

- Delete all files in the Downloads folder.
Empty the Trash.
- Start iPhoto.
Empty its trash.
Restart.
Backup:
Run a Time Machine (or other) backup since you are about to delete and move files and you may need to recover from any inadvertent mistakes or decisions. You will need one external hard drive for your Time Machine (or other) backup and a second if you plan to offload some files. (See suggestions for where to purchase hard drives at the end of this message.)

Deleting files:
Then use the free application OmniDiskSweeper http://www.omnigroup.com/more to explore your volume in descending order by size so you can attack the problem from the top down, deleting the largest unwanted files first. Delete with caution and do not delete any system files. Remember to empty the trash after trashing the files.

Offloading files:
Consider moving some of the no-often-used large files or directories to an external disk. Use ODS again to find them. This will be at least your second hard drive. Your first one(s) is/are for your Time Machine (or other) backup(s). Do not offload files onto a Time Machine disk.
Format the second drive as Mac OS Extended (journaled). Using OWS to find large files/folders and copy them from the system drive to the external hard drive and delete them from your internal drive.
Then > System Preferences > Time Machine > Options… > Remove the offload HD name from the exclusions list.
Now both your system disk and your external offload disk will be backed up onto your Time Machine disk.

I believe the new IOS 8 system takes up 1.3 Gb on it's own. Then plus anything else you may have loaded.

iLife11 is SnowLeo 10.6.x (and therfore Intel only). Version 09 would be the last ppc 10.5.x compatible.
I for sure remember to have loaded the full ilife 06 suite on Leopard back then , it ran fine.
So you could look for any version from ilife 06 to ilife 09 to be on a safe side, they work all on Intel and PPC and also all on 10.5.x .
Of course the newer the version, the more features ( but the more power is needed ).

MY pages documents on my ipad wont sync to icloud. Some of the documents have had the upload icon on them for over a month. It was all working fine a month or so ago but I cant figure out why it wont work now.

Changing your keychain password
You can change the password for your keychain at any time. However, if you want your default keychain to be unlocked automatically when you log in, make sure your keychain password is the same as your Mac OS X login password.
If your Mac OS X login password is not the same as your default keychain password, you'll be asked for the password whenever an application needs access to your keychain and your keychain is locked.
Open Keychain Access and select the keychain in the drawer (click Show Keychains if the drawer is closed).
Choose Edit > "Change Password for Keychain 'login'." (The name of the keychain in the menu matches the name of the selected keychain. If you selected the keychain that unlocks when you log in, the name you see is "login.")
If the keychain is locked, type the password to unlock it.
Type the current password for this keychain.
Type a new password, then type it again to verify.
Click OK.
You can use Password Assistant to help you choose a new password. Click the "i" button to see how secure your new password is.

Calling all java gurus - i cant figure out what is wrong with my code
please can someone see why a null pointer exception is being thrown and how do i fix it?
my current code which throws the null pointer is as below - the key issues that i need some java expert to tell me about is
1. is the usage of resultSet ok in the way i'm doing it , i'm not able to look at the code in debug mode as don't have an IDE and don't know how to do a log4j setup. - i tried doing an out.println("Got........"); but servlet keeps on forwarding the request object to results.jsp even when i comment out the code. and recomplie and restart tomcat 4.1.
2. is the way i'm declaring the List object and the adding stuff to bean and then stuffing bean into list ok?
3. why is the List object null? although i know the query works fine - and that using the below original code where only one row of data was being retrieved and set into bean worked fine.
