Loadgen 2013 task exception

I'm running a loadgen 2013 simulation for 4,000 2GB mailboxes on 4 Exchange 2013 (WS12 R2 Hyperv) VMs using 13 remote client VMs. The test is for 2 hrs using a 24-hrs for length of day to spread the loads evenly. The test passed with cpu utilization ~60%
but my task exception count range from 20-40 per client. Should I be concern with this task exceptions? If so what can I do to reduce my task exceptions?

    Hi kayvwar,
I find a similar thread, following is the detailedinformaiton:
This error occurs when on the specify test user group dialog we do not configure an Outlook group as one of the user groups. So for example if we define UserGroup1 as any of the OWA client types and do not add a secondary user group with any of the Outlook client types we will encounter this error. So please add an outlook group as well. Also, after editing, we need to reload it from the "Start a new test" page for Exchange Load Generator to pick up the custom settings.
For more inforamtion about Load Generator, we can refer to the following articles:
Title: Creating and Running the Exchange Load Generator Test

Title: Frequently Asked Questions about Exchange Load Generator
    Link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb508898(v=exchg.80).aspx
Meanwhile, we can download the "Microsoft Exchange Load Generator 2013.doc" from website "http://www.microsoft.com/en-in/download/details.aspx?id=40726" which contains the detailed steps of how to use Exchange Load Generator for test.

Please also make sure you run LoadGen as Administrator.
    Important!
LoadGen should be used only in laboratories that have no connection to the production environment.

  • LoadGen 2013 DB initialization problem

I am running Exchange Server 2013 SP1 on Windows Server 2012 R2 and trying to get LoadGen 2013 running.
I get a failure from LoadGen after recipients are created but prior to initialization phase of DBs. There is this popup:
Failed to count users for user group
    UserGroup1:System.DirctoryServices.DirectoryServicesCOMException
(0x8007202B): A referral was returned from the server.

    at Microsoft.Exchange.Swordfish.GUI.SummaryPage.BackgroundWorker_DoWork(Object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)
Note LoadGen is running on the Exchange Server 2013 machine which is also the AD and DNS server for this test case.

    Hi RDvirtualization,
Hope you are using the only AD server here, otherwise if you have more it might be due to replication issues.
Secondly deploying Exchange on AD is not a good idea, which might be the actual problem. To me it appears that Exchange is not able to talk to the AD component properly causing this error.
Installing Exchange on a domain controller is not recommended:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms.exch.setupreadiness.warninginstallexchangerolesondomaincontroller(v=exchg.150).aspx
*Exchange services may not start correctly when the domain controller is also a global catalog server.
    Looking elsewhere found below:
"A referral is sent by an AD server when it doesn't have the information requested itself, but know that another server have the info. It usually appears in trust environment where a DC can  refer to a DC in trusted domain."
Something that LoadGen might be using in the backend:
"LDAP strings can be less than intuitive. LDAP://DC=primary,DC=secondary,DC=com which worked in most cases. But when trying to connect to its sub-domain with full trust, the string had to change to: LDAP://MyDomainController1.primary.secondary.com"

  • Exchange LoadGen 2013

I the older versions of Exchange Load Gen 2013 we had something called Heavy Users, Medium users etc. In Loadgen 2013 I do not see something of that sort. All I see
is option to select Outlook_50 outlook_500 etc. If I need to simulate heavy user workload what is the option that I need to be selecting.

    Hi kayvwar,
Action Profile: the number of messages are sent per day. The meaning of Outlook_50 is that send 50 message per day, and so on.
    Less than 50: light
    50-100: average
    100-200: heavy
For your question, we can select Outlook_100 and above this amount to simulate a heavy user, for example Outlook_200.
Additional, we can generate the XML file using the GUI, and double check the configuration by generated XML.
    Best Regards,
    Allen Wang

  • Outlook 2013 Task Reminder Times

I have three Win 7 PCs with Outlook (2013) Tasks synced through iCloud. However, the Reminder Time only shows on one screen. When I add an RT manually to a second screen, the RT from the first screen disappears??? I need some help!

    Hi,
As an Outlook user myself, I can completely understand the inconvenience that the reminder behavior has brought to you. It is currently by design. Some of our users temporary install 3rd-party programs to resolve the issue.

SharePoint 2010 task list sync with outlook running on exchange 2010 works successfully without any error...But how to do with sharePoint 2013

    Hi Mohit,
The "Sync to Outlook" button is a new feature in SharePoint 2013 and is different from the "Connect to Outlook" button in SharePoint 2010, and this feature also needs the Exchange Server 2013 installed in your environment, you can read the following article
    for details.
You can get the "Connect to Outlook" button back (like SP2010) by disabling the "Exchange Task Sync feature" from CA without installing Exchange 2013, the following is extracted from the white paper.
"How to disable SharePoint Server and Exchange Server integration.
To disable it, you turn off the Farm Level Exchange Task Sync feature by going to Central Administration -> Manage farm features. This action deletes the timer job and disables the UI integration, bringing back the legacy sync behavior to Outlook. "

The problem is that any task that the administrator creates and then assigns to a person, this task can be updated from all the users that are belong to this site.
I want the task to be completed/changed only via the person that is assigned to.
I have try a lot of scenarios regarding the permissions but without positive result.
Now all the users can manage all the tasks that are created in the site.
    Please advise

Hi exc, besides item-level permissions (which you tried), I'd suggest either creating content types based on the user, then assign permissions based on the content type. Or using a drop off library and have the tasks routed to a "personal user"
list where only the individual user has permissions.

  • Script Task : exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation

Having a simple SSIS package that downloads a file from SharePoint using client object model.
the task runs successfully through VS2010 IDE and SQL Agent on development workstation but fails when running through SQL Agent on the server. there are other similar SQL jobs that work fine, so the permission should not be an issue.
the error happens so that I cannot trap it using try/catch. when editing script in VS2010, I noticed the path of SharePoint assemblies are referring to version 16 of SharePoint (2013 ?)  and I have SharePoint 2010 on server. As I have set it to run
no any version of SharePoint (using "Specific Version = False") I expect it runs with 2010 version but it doesn't.
    I'm using SQL Server 2012 Enterprise x64.
    Thanks for help.

    Hi M.Sanati,
Do the packages that run fine in certain jobs on the server have Script Tasks/Components? If not, the issue may be that the Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA) runtime is not installed on the server:
Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application x64 Runtime3.0
Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application x86 Runtime3.0
You can check it from the Programs and Features panel of Windows. If it is the case, you can install the missing VSTA Runtime from the \redist\VSTA\runtime\ folder of the SQL Server install media.
If the issue persists, please post the complete error message of the Job history for further analysis.

  • "Send e-mail when ownership is assigned" SharePoint 2013 task list

I've found that the option to "Send e-mail when ownership is assigned" isn't available in SharePoint 2013 (enterprise) task lists. I've found that this functionality is now included the 'issue tracking' list template.
I'm unsure why this very useful feature has been removed from the task list template. I’ve tried adding the task content type to an issue list; this works fine and the notification is sent. However, the new ‘task aggregation’ feature
in mysite only picks up items in an task list, so those items stored in issue lists get ignored. Fairly frustrating.
I wonder whether anyone from MS can fill me in on when this feature has been removed?

Here's a way to enable it by PowerShell:
    http://bernado-nguyen-hoan.com/2013/04/26/enable-email-notifications-for-tasks-list-in-sharepoint-2013/
Although this works, are we now expected to teach users who create Tasks and want to automatically notify all involved via e-mail Powershell skills? MS really needs to take a second look at this faux pas and bring the "Send
e-mail when ownership is assigned" option back.

  • Project Server and Project Pro 2013 - Tasks not allowing Uncomplete Work to be rescheduled

We are current;y running Project Server 2013 on Premise and using timesheets to update task status. We are using the proactive task scheduling to let the allocations, work and dependencies drive the schedule to get accurate project finish dates.
We have several projects that give an error stating "Change would modify work entered by a team member" and "We can't make that change because Project Web App is set to only allow actual work to be entered by a team member through Timesheets
or My Work" when setting the status date and Updating the Project and selecting reschedule Uncompleted Work to start after the status date. We have determined that usually it is only a single task causing the error. we have tried to remove the resource
when no actuals have been entered but we get the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Paul,
Looks like the settings "Only allow task updates via Tasks and Timesheets" has been enabled on your PWA (under Server Settings >> Task Settings and Display).
But the setting is used to prevent any updates to actual work from project pro, and will throw the error  you mention above, if a PM tries to update the actual work.
I am not sure why the "Rescheduling of uncompleted work" would thrw this error, but worth checking that setting.

  • Project Server 2013 Task Reassignment Privileges Off? (Works in Timesheet)

    Version: Project Server 2013
I'm trying to give our users access to reassign tasks.  I turned on "Reassign Task" on the Global Permissions and gave them security to "Assign Resource" on all their categories.
I've tested this, and the "Reassign" feature is available and working then they are on the "Timesheet" page, but it is grayed out and gives the message:
"This control is currently disabled.  You might not have the right permission level to use this, you might need to select an object or item, or the control might not work in this context."
Again, the same task is available to be reassigned in Timesheet though.
My guess is that this is a Security Permission issue, because my account which I am the Administrator and Owner of the project, I can reassign tasks on both pages.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Justin
    It's me

    Hi Justin,
Just for your information, as far as I know, the "assign resources" is not necessary for using the "reassign task" feature. The "reassign task" global permission is enough.
To be sure to understand your issue, the "reassign task" button is available for you as admin or project owner, but not for users which you granted the "reassign task" permission to? Am I right?
You are talking about global permissions but did you add the "reassign task" to the
groups permission the users belong to?
Silly question, but do the users have select a task before trying to reassign it?
    Hope this helps,

  • Script Task Exception Handling

    Hi,
Please suggest if it is possible. I have 15 tables in SQL Server and all the table has different metadata and I am migrating these tables to excel using SSIS Script task. But the problem is there is some exception occurs inside the catch block for eg. (Message
:'', hexadecimal value 0x19, is an invalid character.) but I am unable to find out exact location of SQL which table, column and rowno has the exception.
Please suggest me if it is possible to track all the details i.e. Table Name, Column Name, Row Number.

If you are using a script task, you can simply put a breakpoint in your script and debug it like any other code. Just step through and keep an eye on the locals window.

The link is the answer to the question.  I know it is technically complicated but there is really no simple way to explain why that happens. Whenever you use and older form of specification with DTD instructions you need to use different methods to
validate. By shutting off the validating parser the document will load. The error is likely caused by a recursive definition in the DTDs or, more likely, an error is the XML structure as the document errors even when the DTDs are removed.
