Loading 4.2.1 software into a new HP with Vista

Hi everyone. Brand new here and new some help/advice. I've had a Blackberry for years and have it loaded into my desktop but just took on a new company laptop (we don't have tech people - too small) and I'm trying to load my cdrom software into the HP laptop. I keep getting a message that saying the wizard was interrupted before it was able to load the desktop software. My desktop is XP and this new laptop is Vista (oh yea) and so not knowing enough to simply understand what I have to do, I'm asking for help. I have downloaded from RIM the software for 4.2.1 service patch as well, but it kicks out the same message..... help please!

Thanks.. I just tried that and it still gives me the message that the program was interupted before it finished and did not load!

Was your iPod previously set up to Manually Manage (where you dragged/dropped the music) or was it set to auto sync (where it started sycning as soon as you plugged it in.)?
If it was set to Manual, you have no worries. Just continue on your way.
If it was set to Auto, you will have to transfer your purchases or redownload them from the iTunes store.
You're either going to have to get the other music back from the websites/CDs you got them from before or find an iPod ripping software program that will do it for you.

Installing desktop software on new laptop with Vista

I had a laptop with XP and everything worked fine. Got a new one with Vista and now the software will not install. It did install properly (at least I thought) once, but then would not sync with the device. I tried 4.2 and I tried 4.7, both from the Blackberry site. I keep getting the error message "windows is shutting down the desktop software installation and will notify you of a solution". This is after 20-45 minutes of downloading. My device is a Verizon Curve. Any thoughts?

I installed it twice each time under program file as it wouldn't recognize the program file(x64) folder. I created an adobe folder under program file and installed there which when perfectly well including name, serial number until disc 3 of CS2 suite.
Interestingly when I opened photoshop it showed the correct name and serial number but the error statement I first commented showed.
Perhaps I am just going to have to spring for CS4

I have been using this wireless router for a while works great. I got my wife a new laptop with vista can conect with limited conectivity (excelent signal). Can not use any online programs. How do i fix this problem?

"limited connectivity" ca be due to incorrect n/w key u r typing.
if u have an securtiy enabled conection, when u r trying to connect on vista laptop, plz type the correct n/w key.if there is any confusion oen setup page and chck the ifo from there.
if this doesn't work, u mght have to upgrade f/w of WRT54GS from www.linksys.com as win vista sometimes requires the latest f/e and drivers to connect properly

I just got a new computer with Vista on it. When I hook my WRT54G router to it, I am unable to send e-mails. They get stuck in my OUTBOX and I get a timeout error. I can receive e-mails but cannot send them. Also, my internet can drag at times when the router is connected. When I remove the router, everything works fine.
I've contacted Tech support several times and every suggestion they give doesn't solve the problem. I've updated firmware, changed all sorts of settings in the router setup page, including adjusting my Port Range Forward settings (at the instruction of tech support)
I'm wondering if it's just a Vista thing and I should buy a newer router. I don't know what else to do.
Any suggestions?

Well if you can send emails, when you connect computer to modem directly, then it might be ports forwarding issue. Update firmware of router to latest version and assign a static ip on computer like 192.168.1.11, and obtain ports used by outgoing mail server, and forward those ports to static IP assigned, on router's setup.

Time Capsule access goes away, after new comps with vista

Hi. I am not a computer person, but I work in a small nonprofit and our IT person has gone on vacation. our network keeps creashing and we loose access to the time capsule data. This all started happening after we installed 2 new computeres with Windows Vista and 2 new laptops with Vista were added to the network. Can somebody please help me out. I can't get any work done! Thanks =)

The question is, does the orange blinking light matter and or is it indicating that I am improperly using the machine?
The amber light is like the "Check Engine" light in your car. It blinks for a reason......the Time Capsule has a message for you.
That message might be that there is a firmware update available for the Time Capsule that needs to be installed....or....that AirPort Utility has detected that the Time Capsule is not configured correctly to work with the Xfinity router that you are now using.
To see the message.....open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the amber dot
Then look for a Status setting, and click on the small amber dot there
A message will appear to tell you why the Time Capsule is whining, along with a suggested action to fix the issue.
If you are still having difficult, we for you to post back with the exact message that you see.

New computer with vista, old computer with xp

My old computer has xp and LV8.
I just bought a new one with Vista.
I have several applications that I programmed and I am wondering if they will work in vista.
Any suggestions about partitioning and installing xp and sticking with it. Or what would I need to get applications built with 8.0 to work on a vista computer.

The first version of LabVIEW that is officially supported under Vista is 8.2.1. You may not have any problems with 8.0 but you will have to install all new drivers for any hardware you might be using (DAQmx, NI-VISA, etc.).

Pasting spreadsheet cells into a new form with the wizard ???

I must be missing something here. Whenever I try to paste new cells from a spreadsheet into a new form using the new form wizard the 'finish' button doesn't turn active. It's like Livecycle isn't aware that spreadsheet cells have been copied to the clipboard.
When I try to do it manually and create a new form then copy and paste cells into the form I get a grey image (icon?) that is supposed to repesent something, but I don't know what. It is definitely not spreadsheet cell information.
Is it because I'm using Office 2000? Has anyone successfully done this?

I checked in the LC ES help file and it indicates that the spreadsheet option works with 2003 and above. So perhaps it is related to my outdated software.

TS3999 I am unable to load iCloud Outlook add-in into Outlook 10 on a Vista PC

I am unable to load the "iCloud Outlook Add-In" into Outlook 10 on a Vista PC. I periodicall get a note that the add-in will cause Outlook to crash. There is however an add-in loaded that is "iTunes Outlook Add-In". When I first installed iCloud everything updated just fine but as I have add contact and calendar items to either the ios device or the PC nothing has updated. Can someone help me get my iCloud working?

Importing into a new schema with new logical structures

Hi,
I need to export an existing schema from a 9.2.0.3 database into a new schema ( all the objects into a different tablespace - tables & indexes ; from the original config ) within the same DB.
I am thinking of the following approach :
1. Export the original schema.
2. Create new tablespaces for the "new schema" tables and indexes.
3. Create an indexfile ; renaming the older tablespaces / usernames.
4. Create the new user and grant appropriate privileges.
5. Login as the new user and run the indexfile
Am I missing out any vital points ? Would the pl/sql structures associated with the schema be imported in ok ? Any associated complications that I should be prepared for ?
Unfortunately there isnt a test server in place to test it out before hand.

You missed a step. After you created the indexfile.sql and changed the tablespace names. You are supposed to run the indexfile.sql. That will pre-create the objects. You also have to remove at the comment block indicators: "REM", else it just tries to create indexes. You will also have to ad the "ignore=y" to your imp command, else it will try the create the objects and fail.
Unlimited tablespace shouldn't be an issue.

HP Director software needed for new computer with windows 8

I have a Deskjet 5510 and went from Windows XP to a new computer with Windows 8 (64 bit). The driver installed when I plugged the printer in, but I haven't been able to find HP Director to install. I tried to do an install from the website, but it just told me that the driver was already installed correctly. The Director is a pretty important piece of the printer, can I get it back?

Hi, due to the age of the printer HP does not support 5510 in Win8.

Can you load apps that you bought onto a new Iphone with out hooking the phone up to a computer/itunes

Help!!! I lost my Iphone and thinking of going and getting a new one but at the time Itunes is not working on my computer So I can not hook the new phone up to the computer. What I am wanting to know is if their is a way for me to get the apps I bought on the old phone onto the new one with out a computer? PLEASE HELP!!!!

It will ask you if you want to set it up as a new iPhone or backup from an old iPhone. If you backup from the old iPhone you **might** loose the apps/data that you have downloaded from the point on that you got the new iPhone. You can always redownload the apps from the store.

Files removed from folders, added into a "new folder with items"

Just found files missing from document folders in multiple places, all appear to have been moved to a single folder called "new folder with items" under my user folder. Folder structure all in tact - just files all (or rather nearly all) moved.
I'm restoring from back up now but ***?! had this mac for a year with no issues until now. No major tinkering done on the mac to have caused such a dramatic issue.

If the directory name were random (most likely not even readable), that would mean the file system is corrupted and in need to be repaired ASAP, but as the name is in plain english it seems it was assigned programmatically.
As most Unix derivatives, Mac OS X has a program called fsck.
Each time a disk is "mounted" fsck checks if the file system is in a consistent state. If "dangling" files are found, they are collected in a special directory called "lost+found".
Apple could have changed fsck to create a directory "new folder with items" instead of "lost+found", but I think this is unlikely.
Perhaps someone more familiar with fsck could confirm, but in the meantime I would not rule out other theories.
P.S.
The files could still have been selected from the "All my files" category on the sidebar which looks like "flat" directory as far as the finder is concerned.

Loading iTunes on new PC with Vista disables CD-DVD drive; driver issues?

There is something in the iTunes software that causes my CD-DVD drive to stop working and cannot be recognized as a device by Windows. I suspect that iTunes is replacing the CD/DVD driver with one of their own which is nt compatible with the hardware or with Vista.
Any ideas on a fix? I would REALLY like to have my tunes!

this can be a symptom of a device filter conflict in
your registry. try running through the suggestions

I had these same issues--my CD/DVD drive won't work after I installed Itunes on Windows Vista. I followed these directions to the letter. None of them worked. I'm glad I backed up my registry. Any more suggestions?
