Loading alternate hierarchy

Hi,
We have a source file that contains only the alternate hierarchy(Shared members). Finding a way to load it in EPMA dimension library. Is that possible? I couldnt find a suitable option in the import profile.
we are on 11.1.2.2.300. However it was easier in 11.1.2.0 as there was an checked box "Shared" which could create all members as shared.

We are trying to import in EPMA from interface tables. We are not able to use Merge as Primary as it is creating all members as Primary members even when my source as shared. It also duplicates members when the source has a member that moved to a different hierarchy. Even Merge as Move is not suitable as it will load only primary hierarchies. Replace is also not suitable as our source does not contain the whole dimension.
How else can we achieve loading just the alternate hierarchy? Looks like lack of functionality.

Alternate hierarchy dimension build with load rules

Hi,
I am trying to build a alternate hierarchy dimension using load rules (I feel using EIS is easier to build ASO and multiple hierarchies but we r trying to get rid of EIS member loads). Looking at different posts my understanding is it has to be done using two different rules file first to build the stored hierarchies then use parent-child reference to build the shared hierarchy. Below is the link for the picture how I am trying to build the dimension. I've tried different possibilities but no luck, I am having a tough time to come up with a way to do this using rules file.

If your file is in a parent/child order, then you can build easily in one rule. make sure the primary (stored Hierarchy) gets built first followed by the alternate hierarchies. I suggest adding a SortID column to the source so you can sort the file to get it into the right order. You can also build the alternate hierarchies using level or generation builds in one load rule, but especially if you have a lot of alternate hierarchies or members, then the parent/child method is easiest.
Read in the DBAG about parent/child files and it will give you more info

Alternate Hierarchy Load into BI

Hi,
I have an alternate hierarchy created on Profit Center in COPA. When trying to load the same into BI, I have the following issue:
In the infopackage, under Hierarchy Selection tab, i do not see the specific hierarchy to load, although I can see other alternate profit center hierarchies.
I can see the hierarchy in ECC 6.0 in KES3 (active ). Since it is created under profitability analysis master data, the alternate hierarchy was created with a variant.
Any help is high appreciated and rewarded.

Hi,
In order to load the Customer hierarchy first of all check if 0Customer info object is available in BI system, if not install it with dependent object like Info source and Transfer structure from BI content. Activate the data source "0CUSTOMER_LKLS_HIER" in R/3 Replicate the data source in BI. Activate Transfer structure. Create Info Package and load the data in Hierarchy.

Load rule to update alternate hierarchy with shared members more than once

I have a aso cube with an alternate hierarchy that is not stored because the shared members appear more than once. Below is how my alternate hierarchy looks.
Dept
Class
VolumeLevel
StoreNum
where StoreNum is the shared member.
I build the cube using eis every weekend. The VolumeGroup changes everyday, so I was thinking of using a sql load rule to update the outline everyday. Assuming that the data and the aggregation does not get cleared. Is it possible to do it using sql load rule?

You can check here if you are satisfying the conditions for creating shared members under the Hierarchy (refer to Alternate Hierarchies). Plz note that rules for shared members are different in ASO world.

Otherwise there is no reason why you should not be able to create a shared member.
I am able to create a hierarchy using a sample file like this ->

Reporting on Alternate Hierarchy master data (HR-BW) thru DSO object

I have a quick question. I would appreciate if you know of any direction to approach this.
We have a hierarchy in a external system that we want to bring into BW as alternate hierarchies. The hier nodes are a bunch of leagacy hierarchies and the leaves will be 0COSTCENTER (R/3 values). After loading this hierarchy in BW, we need to manipulate and add 0POSITIONS to the 0COSTENTER hierarchies from R3 and store this back as another hierarchy (with 0POSITION as leaves below 0COSTCENTER). Now we need to report on this hierarchy and get stats like # vacant position, occupied position, etc.
Have you seen anybody doing this kind of manipulation, reading hierarchy data into DSO object, reporting, etc?
Any idea will be appreciated.

PA0007 - WOSTD ( Number of hours per week)
HRP1011 - MOVAG (Number of hours per month)
Some one in HR Fourms told me that these tables are master data tables and i am reporting on master data
So Anil,Quick question if the data i need is master data can i use the cube u suggested

Alternate hierarchy in but through the EIS

We use the Integration Services to load, and we need to put an alternate hierarchy in but through the EIS part I’m not clear on how to do it. I was wondering if you had done that?

In the meta-outline, go into dimension properties and go to the Outline Build tab.
There is a section for duplicate member names, select 'add as shared member'

Error in loading a Hierarchy

When we are loading a hierarchy in the BW system, we get the following error :
Error in the hierarchy structure: see error log.
We tried activation of the hierarchy data source then rerun the load. Still it fails with the same error.
Please let us knwo if any one has inputs regarding the same.

How can I see different results for alternate hierarchy?

I have an outline with an accounts dimension with the following members (amongst others):
Total Expenses
Exp1 +
Exp2 +
Exp3 +
Exp31 + (child of Exp3)
Exp32 + (child of Exp3)
Exp33 + (child of Exp3)
I also have another dimension, let's call it DIM, with the following primary and alternate hierarchies (shares upper levels with primary):
Primary
A
A1 +
A2 +
A3 +
B
B1 +
B2 +
B3 +
Alternate
A + (shared member)
B + (shared member)
I want to be able to do the following:
When I select something from the primary hieararchy, I want to see the original values in Exp31, Exp32 and Exp33. When I select a member from the alternate hierarchy, I want to see these 3 expenses zeroed out. Is this possible? I can't find a way to do this since the values for shared members are taken from primary members. Is there another way to do this?

I did think of creating an alternate hierarchy in the accounts dimension which excludes the expenses I do not want to include in the total, but I have 3 different categories of expenses I want to exclude depending on the members I'm viewing, so I'll have to create that many alternate hierarchies in accounts, each excluding a specific category of expenses.
If you have a brainwave, please let me know!

How to load a Hierarchy after a change in the R/3 system?

Hi All,
We have a hierarchy in BW hat we extract from R/3. But now they have added two new nodes to the hierarchical structure which is not being reflected in the BW version of the hierarchy. Can you tell me how to load into BW the latest version of the R/3 hierarchy with those two new nodes??

Hi Reddy,
If you have modified just the function module to populate the hierarchy in R/3 then the hierarchies should load fine on BW. However if you have changed the datasource and there is a datasource(active) in the transport request in R/3 then you would need to replicate the datasource in BW and then load the hierarchy. I am trying to load a hierarchy FROM R/3 to BI . When I am executing the Info package its showing an below Error.
Hierarchy object is u201CWBS elementu201D
The level of the node ID 01494179 does not suit the lev. of the higher lev. node
The level of the node ID 01494178 does not suit the lev. of the higher lev. node
The level of the node ID 01493822 does not suit the lev. of the higher lev. node

looks like there is some inconsistency in hierchy data you are tring to laod.
Check hierarchy in r3 if its ok, if yes try deleting complete hierarchy and reloading it.
You may also chose to adjust it manually

Error while loading the Hierarchy to 0GLACCEXT

I am trying to load a hierarchy ZEM 1 that is manually created in R/3. when I am executing the Infopackage its showing an Error that
1.Record 8 :Node characteristic 0GL_ACCOUNT is not entered as hierarchy characteristic for 0GLACCEXT
2.Too many error records - update terminated
and what is the the concept of 0BAL_DPEND to be added as attribute to OGLACCEXT.

The hierarchy for characteristic 0GLACCEXT is used as the financial statement version in BW queries. To technically enable the particular exception aggregation for contra items, the hierarchy table of characteristic 0GLACCEXT contains the attribute Balance-Dependency of a Hierarchy Node (technical name 0BAL_DEPEND).
The Long Error Message
Diagnosis
 The nodes NODEID = [00000194, 00001627 ] have the same node names
 NODENAME = '10000000950090 '. This is not allowed because neither node
 is a leaf and both nodes are assigned to the same characteristic
 0GL_ACCOUNT .
 Note that a maximum of 50 characters is available for message variables.
 The node name NODENAME = '10000000950090 ' might not be displayed in its
 full length.

Procedure
 Try to localize the problem. If the hierarchy is loaded from an SAP
 source system, you can check whether the extracted data is correct by
executing transaction RSA3 in the source system. If necessary, check if
the data is modified with a user exit. If the hierarchy is loaded from a
file, check the contents of this file. The problem might also be due to
an error in the transfer rules or in the transformation.
You can identify the two duplicate nodes from the values for the node ID
NODEID = [00000194, 00001627 ].
The problem can be caused by identical nodes delivered more than once
from the source. It is also possible that incorrect values for
parameters such as the node name NODENAME or validity period [DATEFROM,
DATETO] are the cause of the problem.
First check if the value for node name NODENAME = '10000000950090 ' is
correct. The node name consists of the characteristic value for the
hierarchy basic characteristic and the characteristic values of all the
characteristics compounded to this characteristic. Errors creating the
node name often result in duplicate nodes. This problem also occurs if
the node names of all nodes are initial.
If the structure of the hierarchy is defined as time-dependent, the time
validity of a node can be restricted with the fields DATEFROM and
DATETO. Duplicate nodes generally do not occur if the validity intervals
of two nodes do not overlap in time. In this case check if the fields
DATEFROM and DATETO are correctly filled.
In this case the duplicate nodes are not leaves. If you want to reuse an
existing subtree at another location in the hierarchy, you can refer to
this subtree with a link node. Possibly one of the two duplicate nodes
were incorrectly not marked as link nodes.

Essbase Studio Alternate Hierarchy Creation error

Hi All,
I'm using Essbase Studio to create an alternate hierarchy. I have a dim which has shared members and I'm getting the following error msg during cube deployment:
1. Record #1- Member Name (SKU) already used i.e. the member for which I m trying to create shared member
     I m following the same procedure mentioned in the user guide i.e.
        Step1: create a copy of the dimension element that you want to designate as a shared member(Renamed SKU_copy with SKU_Diet). By making a copy, the binding expression for this element is the same as the original dimension element (SKU_Diet).
       Step2: when you create the second hierarchy in the chain, which is the alternate hierarchy, add a user-defined membas the parent and add the new dimension element (SKU_Diet) as the child, which will be the shared member.
     Even I m able to see the shared members (SKU_Diet) under user defined member "Diet" under the preview window (both by key binding and caption binding) as wel..
     But I m unable to see the shared members in EAS console after deploying the cube from Essbase Studio to EAS Console.
I m not able to understand what I m missing exactly,.and suggest me other ways as well for creating alternate hierarchies in Essbase Studio.

Problem in Loading Material Hierarchy

Hi,
I am having problem while loading material hierarchy from R/3. Whenever i execute infopackage for infosource 0MATERIAL, I am getting following error msg.
The node name for ID 00005983 contains invalid characters
Diagnosis :
Node name DVD77ELR-D2 with node ID 00007774 contains lower case
letters or characters that are not permitted.
System response:
Processing was terminated
Procedure:
Change the node name so that it only contains permitted characters.
Procedure for System Administration
As a result the Request is in RED state.
Please suggest any solution ASAP.

I have solved the problem. But this was not related to RSKC.
This was due to a material code DVD77ELR-D2 which was not created correctly. I have removed the hierarchy assigned to this material and marked it for deletion.
Now the hierarchy has been loaded perferctly.

Flat File loading into Hierarchy

Dear Gurus,
I am trying to load a hierarchy from a flat file. I am not able to do it successfully.
I have a small doubt. Do we need to load the master data into the master data table before loading the hierarchy?
Explanation:
I have an info object zcountry and i had added zzone and zstate as external characteristics in hierarchy. the hierarchy structure should be country with 2 nodes zone1,zone2 and zone one should have 2 states under it as nodes. In this case do I need to maintain the master data in the infoobjects before loading the hierarchies with flat file.?
