Loading bar under Apple logo on startup

Hello,
So about a month or so ago, after i had installed and ran Lion since the day of release, my iMac version 11,3 my mac has started showing a grey progress bar underneath the apple logo during startup. When this loading bar appears, the mac then goes to the loading screen, but it seams that my graphics card is acting slow or weird somehow. After loging in, i have no sound whatsoever, or any network connection at all. Its like all the drivers have miraculously disappeared!
As i read somewhere that it could be something relating to a hard drive problem that, on startup, is trying to fix, i changed the HDD to a new SSD (didnt buy it just for that reason, was looking at getting one anyway)
This has not fixed the problem and i believe it could have something to do with a bug in lion, as for the entire time ive owned this mac, it has been fine. I believe this has happened to a couple of other people, but i hope detailed information can help solve it.
Thanks for reading. Hope you can help.

Does that mean that you choose to not keep a backup?
The loading bar is normal, once it was a little wheel, now it's a bar. Same thing.

  • Gray bar under Apple logo during startup with 10.7.2

    Hi everyone,
first-time iMac owner since May 2011, I'm experiencing exactky the same problem described in the article Mac OS X v10.6: Gray progress bar appears under Apple logo during startup, but with two important differences:
it never happened with the original the 10.6 factory-installed, and started to appear after upgrading to 10.7 at the beginning of August
my iMac, included in the HD replacement program announed by Apple in July 2011, had the HD replaced with a new one in October 2011
In addition to the behavious described in the KB article, it's worth noting that, when one finally manages to log in (and the gray bar may take one good minute to disappear, which happens after filling up to approx. 60-70% of its length), the iMac is barely unusable, as the graphic interface is suddenly **** slow and there's a lot of flickering.
Since seeing is believing, please have allok at the YouTube video I made on this "false start", as I named it: see iMac_falsa_partenza / iMac_false_start.
I had already reported the problem to the local assistance, and they had told me it was an evidence of the HD problem indicated by Apple. Then they replaced the HD  (...did they, actually? Probably yes, as the  HD now installed is far noisier than the old one), but the very same day I brought it back from the assistance, at the second start... bam, here's the nasty gray bar again.
I didn't further report the problem to the assistance because my faith in their capability has cracked and because the simple replacement of the HD took them  three full weeks. But this "false start" issue really, really bothers me a lot, as it happens every other day.
How can I have some good Apple expert technicians take this problem seriously and help me solving it?
As a first-time owner of a Mac, I have onestly to say I'm much, much disappointed by this story... Thanks anyone for any help.

  • Yosemite: loading bar under apple logo on start up

Okay, iMac was running just fine. I updated to yosemite from mavericks and now I get a loading bar under the apple logo every time I restart or start up cold. Is this a new thing or is there a way to fix this? I already repaired disk and permissions. I was going to reinstall but the darn thing won't recognize the time machine either..
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Lion 10.7 gray progress bar appears under Apple logo on startup.  Slow to boot to login prompt or Finder

iMac Troubleshooting topics section shows this topic for SnowLeopard10.6 and suggests that there may be a hard disk problem.  Recommendation was to startup iMac from the 10.6 install disk and use Disk Utility to attempt to repair the hard disk.  Lion 10.7.2 was downloaded so there is no disk to attempt this repair with.  Any suggestions or experience with the gray cloth screen in Lion and a progress bar under the Apple logo on boot up?  It seems to take a lot longer to boot up now to get a login prompt or desktop than when it was fresh out of the box in July 2011 with Snow Leopard 10.6  Thanks for your help!

    Hello
    just an idea
first shut down your mac then , unplug your keyboard if is a wired one , or remove battery from your wirless keyboard then power up your mac , does the progress bar appear again ?
or more simple try an other keyboard if is possible , preferably a wired keyboard

  • IMac keeps shutting down during startup loading bar under apple sign

My electricity went out and came back on a minute later. When my computer started up again the font was back to original factory setting. I then restarted my computer and every time it would load up it would shutdown. The computer chimes and then reaches a grey screen with an apple sign. Below it is a loading bar. This bar loads about 10% then goes back down and loads from 0%. A couple minutes later it shuts down after staying at 0%. It keeps doing this routine every time I start the computer. I then did a command s and rebooted the computer to factory reset it. The computer still shuts down and has the old habit of reaching 10% and 0% with the loading bar but now after the loading bar is at 0% it then disappears to the Apple sign and a loading circle. It then shuts down again. This iMac was originally 10.6.8. but i believe i updated it to 10.9.4 and was purchased new around 2008. I also tried to put in a CD with Firmware Restoration CD 1.7. but that didnt work. Can anyone help? or has anyone had similar issues?

  • Status bar under apple logo mountain lion

When I startup my MBP I get a status bar under the apple logo. Then a spinning wheel that keeps going on for a long, long time. What is causing this?

If you repaired the drive first and still received the error, then something is wrong, most likely, on the drive. I would say you probably need to erase the drive then reinstall. I hope you have a backup.
Install or Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Erase the hard drive:
      1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the
left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      3. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on
the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass. Click on
the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
      4. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I continue to have progress bar under Apple logo after installing Yosemite

I installed Yosemite some time ago. After the installation I continue to have the progress bar under the Apple logo (before logging in) as if something is still being installed. It takes some minutes before I get to the login screen. Current version is 10.10.2. Any suggestions?

As long as your system does not say Safe Mode in the menu bar, then everything is normal. The loading bar should not normally sit for many minutes; however, this may depend on the system you are using and what you have installed.

  • Updating ipad 2 to 4.3.2, loading bar with apple logo stuck

Hi, after getting my iPad 2 a couple days ago I decided today to update to 4.3.2. The loading bar on the iPad is at about 90%, and on iTunes the loading bar is at the last bit and says 'updating iPad software...'. It has not budged one bit in about 25 minutes now. I was wondering what the best course of action would be? I don't care at this point if I have to revert back to 4.3.1 (if that is even possible at this point), I just want my iPad to work. Thanks for any help!

    Try a reset first.
Depress sleep/wake and Home buttons simultaneously until the white Apple logo appears.
    Now try updating again.

  • Unlocked IPhone 4 stuck on loading bar with apple logo

Pretty much what it says on the tin, I downloaded the iOS 6 update today and after downloading and installing the phone told me to plug it into my laptop where it then downloaded another update of some description, after that my IPhone 4 just stayed on the apple logo with a loading bar underneath and constantly resetting itself from time to time! Oh and my laptop no longer detects my IPhone at all! y
Any help would be super awesome

Try a Hard Reset, hold together Home and Power buttons for about 15 seconds until iPhone restarts. If  does not work connect iPhone to wall charger and then try the Hard Reset again. If still does not work, leave iPhone on wall charger for some time, maybe 20 minutes and try Hard Reset again.

  • Iphone 4 black screen, tried dfu mode, itunes not picking up device. not able to bring up red phone off slide bar or apple logo if any combination of button holding. HELP

iphone 4 black screen, tried dfu mode itunes not picking up device. not able to bring up red phone off slide bar or apple logo if any combination of button holding.
Phone was given to me by apple 2 weeks ago. Last I saw of it working was phone was off so i did the quick reset. Apple logo came up, it started up and keypad for passcode came up. It said 2% battery then went up to 64% a second later. When I was playing wth it not 5mins before it was at 65% so would make sence that later indication was correct. Before I could type the 4 digit passcode in the phone turned off to black screen. Now I have tried all possible reset options incuding the 10 second hold down of both buttons for less than 10 seconds and longer than 10 seconds. Nothing is working. iTunes is not recognising the device at all. Ive had it plugged into a wall socket for three hours and the computer for 2 hours and no signal of life. Ive tried the forums on here and the youtube vidoes and seem to know what im doing with resets. Anyone able to shed some light?

Not being able to get DFU Mode indicates hardware failure. Since you recently received this iPhone from Apple it has at a minimum 90 day Warranty. Make Genius reservation or make service arrangements and take or send to Apple for resolution. Regarding what is actually wrong with the iPhone, it could be possibility of several things. But some of the features point directly to battery. First step in fixing this iPhone would be battery replacement. Then trouble-shooting from there if still problem. Take it to Apple.

Why is there a split line on apple logo on startup screen?

If you are talking about the curved line, it just looks like that is how they made it.
