Loading Comman members in diffrent Dimension(ASO)

Hi,<BR><BR> i ahve a situvation where in my time dimension i have year as 2000 and also in My equipment dimension i have my equipment model as 2000. so when i load my equipment the member load erros out as no shared member wanted. but as i am using ASO i cannot user shared member(i think so as it gives an error says shared members not allowed in ASO when trying to save the outliene). how do we hnadle thi ssutuvation

My recommendation would be to add a prefix to your year members "Year 2000" -- you could do this as an alias. Then in your dataload, either modify the data or use a load rule which provides the prefix in the time column. Minor details may need to be worked out, but in the end, it's a bad idea to have a "2000" member for both time and equipment -- for that matter, I recommend avoiding numeric member names in general (formatting issues in Excel, etc...).<BR><BR>Thats just my 2 cents worth, FWIW. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"><BR>

  • Loading Essbase Members for [ Accounts ] Dimension in ODI 11.1.1.3 ?

    Hi
    My source is Oracle Database tables and Target is Essbase Members of Dimension ('Accounts') i m trying to load Data to Accounts member (Employee Rate) When i perform Reverse Engineering I am only able to view Dimensions not is members. So in my interface i am not able to perform mapping cause Members are not showing up.
    Problem Example:
    1- Essbase Dimensions and Members
    Accounts <--------------- Dimension
    | Employee Rate <---------- Members
    | Headcount
    | Over Time Rate1
    | Employee Salary
    Currency <--------------- Dimension
    Entity <--------------- Dimension
    Period <--------------- Dimension
    2- IN ODi After Reverse Engineering when i drag and drop to Target i only see Dimension Properties NOT members
    Example: Parent, Two Pass Calculation
    but my goal is to insert data into Memember (Employee Rate) of Accounts Dimension
    So i am not able to see Members of Accounts Dimesion so i cant perform mapping with my source table.
    Looing for your help.

    Hi John,
    Yes you are right, that was issue.
    Now How i am going to get sub Members: what should be format.

    Employee Rate -----> Member
    |
    Over Time1 ------> Sub Member of "Employee Rate"
    |
    Shift Rate ---->Sub member of "Over Time1"
    I am having above hierarchy than what should be Format that i have to put in:
    DATA_COLUMN_DIMENSION = ??
    DATA_COLUMN_MEMBERS = ????
    Thank u john, you are always helping.

  • Members rejected during dimension load

    Hi,
    I am trying to deploy an application from Essbase studio. It loads few members and rejects few members. And it does not load any member to scenario and Version dimensions. I have the source in Parent, child relationship and the top most parent being #root for every dimension.
    And when I preview the hierarchy, it shows in correct parent child relationship. But after the cube deploy, in the outline it is in random order. All parents are created under the dimension itself. And the error during cube deploy in Essbase studio is

    If you look at the Error record it says you have same member/alias twice, check the source and see if you have special characters?
    Also check for duplicate members.

  • Maximum number of members in a dimension in ASO 11.1.2.1

    Hi all,
    Is there any limitations on number of members in a dimension in ASO 11.1.2.1?
    Also can we predict the maximum number from the 64 bit theory as described in the DBAG?
    I guess the maximum must be more than 20 million which I believe was the limit in Essbase 7.
    We are working on an application for customer analysis where number of customer will be much more than 20 million.
    Can anyone tell me what is the maximum number of members they have seen in one ASO dimension?
    Thanks.

    Hi Rav,
    Is it somewhere documented about the limitation of 20M members? What I see in the dbag page 34 of chapter 62 is "64-bit Dimension Size Limit for Aggregate Storage Database Outline" where it says maximun bits for a leaf member can be 64 and bits are determined by log2(no of members). From this calculation, number of members can be lot higher. Please let me know if this 20M member limitation is documented somewhere.
    Many thanks.

  • Maximum no of members in Essbase Dimension can support

    Dear All,
    I am using Essbase 11.1.2.2 (64-bit)
    Number of dimensions used in my BSO Essbase cube is 9 (4-dense and 5 sparse).
    I am having a Customer dimension (sparse) upto 7 levels.
    The number of members in customer dimension is 98000.
    After loading data in essbase BSO cube, while performing Ad hoc Analysis it throws the following error in Smartview,
    "Request timed out contact your administrator to increase netretrycount and netretryinterval"
    After making changes to below variables in registry and essbase.cfg files
    NETDELAY 500
    NETRETRYCOUNT 400
    Registry settings
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]\
    ReceiveTimeout=480000
    KeepAliveTimeout=180000
    ServerInfoTimeout=180000
    and also with
    ReceiveTimeout=900000
    KeepAliveTimeout=300000
    ServerInfoTimeout=300000
    I am getting the following error
    "Concurrent requests on the same session are not allowed. Wait till the previous request completes processing"
    After i reduced the no of members considerably in Customer dimension, the issue got resolved.
    My question is "Do we have any limitations in maximum no of members in a single dimension"
    What is the maximum no of members a Essbase dimension can support ?
    Regards,
    Tharik

    To answer your specific question, the limits are listed here: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26232_01/doc.11122/esb_dbag/limits.html. According to that, BSO will handle 1,000,000 members.
    My question would be what exactly you are doing when the error occurs. Does it happen when you attempt a drill to level zero for example? Or as soon as you retrieve an ad hoc sheet?

  • Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record

    Hi guys, been a while but I'm back into problem land again. I got a SQL Server database with a load of records in it, some are NULL, and I use them to build a rules file called CGI_BUILD. When I run the rules file on the outline it builds fine with no errors but when it does the second part of loading the data, it kicks out an error file. The error that repeats over and over in the log is "\\ Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record". This seems to be the case for every record in the load file except for the second record. The only difference with that record is it has N/A for some of the columns instead of the regular "Retail" or "Finance" or whatever the other fields are.
    I realize you have limited information here without screenshots but maybe you can help me get started on a solution. In my searching I found that some people have had this happen when the first record has an empty column in it but I can't rearrange them because there's a few columns that are empty for every record. They're there for add-ons later in the project. Any ideas?

    To my outline, via SQL load, I added a new attribute dimension called Retail Region/Area:
    -Retail Region/Area
    --West Region : Region Manager
    ---Area1 : Area Manager
    ---Area2 : Area Manager
    ---Area3 : Area Manager
    --East Region : Region Manager
    --Factory Region : Region Manager
    ---Area1 : Area Manager
    ---Area2 : Area Manager
    --Central Region : Region Manager
    As you can see, it's split up into regions which have a region manager. And each region has a pile of areas which each have an area manager. The relationship for each region/area to its respective manager is 1:1.
    To my rules file I added 3 new columns:
    GEN1,Retail Region/Area (data = "Retail Region/Area")
    GEN2,Retail Region/Area (data = Region Name : Region Manager)
    GEN3,Retail Region/Area (data = Area Name : Area Manager)
    I've ignored the data load and dimension build on the first 2 columns, but the third one, the lowest level, is the one data is being loaded into, among many other dimensions. The only weird thing I noticed is the last column (GEN3,Retail Region/Area) doesn't have a Field Name under the Data Load Properties. It's just blank.....but I don't think that would matter.
    Now to answer your questions.....multiple columns that have members from the same dimension........it doesn't look like that's the case with the three columns I added. Am I missing it? And the rows I should be looking at......are you referring to the SQL database or the data prep editor in Essbase after loading the SQL file? I'm not converting NULL to anything that I know of. If it was preset before starting the project it's likely the same for every dimension. And as far as transformations, I'm not familiar with that so that would be a no.

  • FDM Essbase Adapter - Duplicate members from same dimension on data records

    I am getting this error message when trying to export data to Essbase using FDM.
    Error - Duplicate members from same dimension on data records.
    Though this error looks quite straight forward, I could not find any thing in the data file to indicate the same. I even tried loading a single row data, but still got the same message.
    What other things I should be looking at to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

    There are one or two previous threads on this, but this might give you some help to start with as it links to an esssbase document which gives suggestions for the error message:
    Error in dataload- Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record
    another thread indicated that the first record had a blank in it and by re-sorting to have the first records with all fields populated resolved the issue (not sure on this one).
    from the FDM side:
    1. Are the dimensions correctly mapped in the Essbase adaptor?
    2. Are the dimensions in the correct sequence for loading to Essbase.
    3. Does the same value appear In more than one field (Can't remember but i think essbase didn't use to allow the same member name across dimensions).

  • How to delete the members in one dimension use the maxl script

    i have question that i want to delete the members in one dimension useing the maxl script, but i do not know how to do it. can the maxl delete the members in one dimension? if can, please provide an sample script, thank you so mcuh.

    MaxL does not have commands to alter an outline directly, except the reset command which can delete all dimensions but not members selectively. The best you could do would be to run a rules file (import dimensions) using a file that contains the members you want to keepload rule for the dimension. As typical the warning is to test this first before you do it on a production database

  • Can we load data for all levels in ASO?

    Hi All,
    Im creating cube in ASO
    can i load data for all levels in ASO
    we can load data for all Levels In BSO but in ASO i need confirmation????
    and one more
    wat is the consider all levels option in ASO is used for ? wat is the purpose?
    Can any one help ,it would be appriciate.
    Thanks

    In an ASO cube you can only load to level zero
    The consider all levels if used for aggregation hints. It allows you to tell the aggregation optimizer to look at all levels when deciding if aggregation needs to be done on the dimension

  • How to use two members from same dimension in Dimension Layout, for HFR

    I am developing a report using Hyperion Financial Reporting. I have taken two dimensions in rows and remaining dimensions in column. After completing one section, I need to make new section of the report on the same grid and page with just adding one more member of the second row dimension. That is data should be the summation of two members of the dimension, say "ACCOUNT".
    Kindly guide me the steps. Also i would like you to know that i am begineer with Hyperion Financial Reporting.
    Thanks
    Roshan

    Can you give some explanation of your gird layout and what you are trying to achieve?
    Like Account and Scenario in row
    Year, Market in columns
    Product in Page

  • How to extract data for particular two members of same dimension.

    As per the requirement i need to export data for certain members of a dimension. Lets say we need data for two account members A and B which is in in Account dimension only but is not a direct children. I need the data for all the available years too. Please suggest me how my DATAEXPORT command should look like.
    When i am using an AND statement it is not working accordingly. Say i am fixing for years 2007 and 2009 but the output file is coming for 2009 and 2010.
    Something other is happening when i am fixing OPEX_31 and OPEX_32. The values are coming not only for OPEX_31 and OPEX_32 but for many more accounts too.
    Here is my dataexport statement for your reference
    SET DATAEXPORTOPTIONS
    DataExportLevel "ALL";
    DataExportColFormat ON;
    DataExportDimHeader ON;
    DataExportOverwriteFile ON;
    FIX("LC","Total_Year","ESB1","2009","SIERRA","COSTCENTER_NA","CELLULAR_NA","OPEX_31",
    "January","February","March","April","May","June","July","August","September","October","November","December");
    DATAEXPORT "File" "     " "D:\exports\feb.txt";
    ENDFIX;
    I need data for OPEX_31 and OPEX_32 for all the available years starting from 2001 to 2025.
    Please suggest what are the modification needed to get the desired result.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
    There a few different options you can use for fixing on the months, years..
    e.g. FIX(January:December)
    or FIX(@CHILDREN(YearTotal)) < depends what the parent of the months is
    sames goes for years
    FIX(2009:2025)
    or
    FIX(@CHILDREN(Year)
    If your period dimension is dense you can always use that as the column header e.g. DataExportColHeader "Period" and then fix on the accounts you require.
    Cheers

  • How to remove the default members of a dimension from the control table?

    Hi all,
    I am new to hyperion FDM 11.1.1.2.0.0 .
    When I navigate to Metadata>Control Tables and try to delete the default memmbers
    for the dimension like category and period i got the following error.
    Error: Period( 8/31/2009 ) is an active Global or Local Period and cannot be deleted.
    Then again i unchecked active checkbox for that dimension from Hyperion Essbase Integration Setup of Workbench Client.
    After doing that i got the following error
    Error: Unable to retrieve target System Data.
    Can anyone tell me how to remove the default members of a dimension from the control table?
    Thanks

    Create a new record for the table.
    Go change the POV to the new record.
    Return to the control table and delete the default record.

  • Maximum number of members in a dimension (BSO)

    we are designing a new planning application and the requirement for one of the dimensions may force us to have a large number of members. I needed a ballpark figrue on what the maximum number of members should be in planning for it to work in an acceptable manner (aggregate times, run time calculations etc) ... the number we are looking at is over 30,000 members and another 15,000 shared members 10-11 levels deep. If any one has experience with such large dimension, can you shed some light on how long the aggregation times would take and if we use it in form, how best to agg the RTPs for that dimension? thank you in advance.
