Loading data for Cube Characteristics

Hi Experts,
I have basic questions on loading of data for InfoCube characterisctis.
1.Suppose I have 6 dimensions and total 26 characteristics are in dimensions.Do I need to load master data for 26 characteristis.
2.I have master data InfoProvider say 0Customer ,it does have navigational attributes and display attributes.Do I need to define Navigational attribute as a Master data Infoprovider and load data for them or any other way.
Please clarify my doubts which I am facing in my project now.I will awarded for all inputs.

Hi,
Actually its not really clear what your doubt is... If you question is whether you can load data to infocube without maintaining master data for the characteristics - the answer is yes. You can do that; just make sure that you do not tick the option of checking master data while loading.

Yes you can load data for all levels in an ASO cube in any version HOWEVER, none of the upper level data in any cube will be there when you look for it. You will get a warning message in the load because ASO cubes don't store data at upper levels. It is the same as loading data into dynamic calc members in BSO cube. It will do the load without compalints, but there will be no data there (At least you get the warning in ASO)

In an ASO cube you can only load to level zero
The consider all levels if used for aggregation hints. It allows you to tell the aggregation optimizer to look at all levels when deciding if aggregation needs to be done on the dimension

Getting an error while trying to load data into cube

I am trying to load data into cube but it gives me following error:

Hi,
May be you have not mapped anything to fiscal variant or not included fiscal variant in the cube but you have used fiscal period inside it.
You should load fiscal variant if you wanna use fiscal period.
Map fiscal variant to a constant K4 or from the source if present and then see the result.
Generally it is K4 except for FI-CO cubes .
In the transfer rules, select field '0fiscvarnt' 'Tp' click
Enter K4 for Constant................Save and Activate
Iam sure you'd fix the issue.

Recently, I experienced following error:
fiscal year variant K4 not expected.
following process fixed my issue
In the transfer rules, select field '0fiscvarnt' 'Tp' click
Enter K4 for Constant................Save and Activate
Also check the following-------
in R/3 (SE16), make sure K4 exists in table T009
in Bw, select source system --> transfer global settings

There will be thousands of errors which can occur in any kind of environment.
Some of the errors listed
1. SID missing
2. No alpha conforming values found
3. Replicate datasource error
4. BCD_Overflow error
5. update rule inactive
6. DUplicate masterdata found error
RFC connection lost.
7. Invalid characters while loading.
8. ALEREMOTE user is locked.
9. Lower case letters not allowed.
10. While loading the data i am getting messeage that 'Record
the field mentioned in the errror message is not mapped to any infoboject in the transfer rule.
11. object locked.
12. "Non-updated Idocs found in Source System".
13. While loading master data, one of the datapackage has a red light error message:
14. Extraction job aborted in r3
15. repeat of last delta not possible
16. datasource not replicated
17. datasource/transfer structure not active

Getting error in PSA while trying to load data in cube

Your data is in lowercase.. either change the data to UPPERCASE from source..
or delete the request in cube and edit PSA data from lowecase to UPPER CASE if they are few records only.
or make the infoobject setting lowecase checked,

SPP - Unable to load data for numeric parts

Hi all,
We have been trying to upload data from a flat file for a set of numeric parts and have been unsuccessful in doing so. We get an error "No valid item to load into APO-BI". We have been successful in loading data for alphanumeric parts.
We suspected that this may be due to the output format for product number we specified in SPRO (not checked lexicographic). This has resulted in the system attaching leading zeros to the product number. The setting however cannot be changed once a numeric product has been created in the system. We were not able to delete the product (for which we started a separate thread).
Would appreciate if someone could share if there is a workaround to this problem ?

The Problem got resolved as we were able to delete the numeric part numbers and then checking the "lexicographic" option in "Specify Output format of Product Numbers".

Data Loading Error for cube 0TCT_C22

Dear Colleagues,
I am working on BI 7.0 / SP09.
I am loading technical content cube 0TCT_C22 from datasource 0TCT_DS22. Till PSA, there is no problem with data load. But from PSA to data target, data load fails. Went to monitor and it shows teh error "Error calling number range object 0TCTPRCSCHN for dimension D2 ( ). Message no: RSAU023".
I tried to find the SAP notes fro this, but no success. Also checked the Dump and application logs, but nothing is there.
Please advice ASAP.

I just solved the very similar issue. Try what I did to see if it works for you. For each dimension in each Infocube a number range is created. For some weird reason during the activation of the Infocube the number range for the dimension giving troubles was not created. Look for it in TCODE SNRO and you should find a number range per each dimension in the cube but the one giving you error.
To solve it, (the easiest way I found) just add any characteristic to the problematic dimension. Activate the Infocube. After that, modify again you Infocube and remove the characteristic you just added to leave the dimension how you need it. Activate the Infocube again. By doing that you will force the regeneration of the dimension and with it the number range. You can chek in TCODE SNRO and the number range should be there. Try loading your data again and it should work.
One thing I don't understand is why that number range sometimes is not created during activation

Loading data from Cube to Planning area

Hi,
If I am loading data from a cube to a planning area using transaction TSCUBE,
does the system load data into planning area for the combinations that exist in the cube or does it load for all CVCs?
For example,
I have my CVC as Plant, Material, Customer
If there are 4 CVCs in the POS that were previously generated as
Plant--Material--Customer

01--M2--
C3
01--M2--
C2
01--M4--
C5
If the cube has data like this:
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.

(doesnot have the last combination), then if I use TSCUBE transaction to load data to Planning area from this cube,
is the data loaded as
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.

Only for the 3 combinations that exist in the cube and not load anything for the last one
OR
is the data loaded as
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.

Load all 4 combinations and send 0 as the cube doesnot have this combination?

Thanks a lot Vinod, Srinivas and Harish. The reason why I am asking you is that we have a scenario where we get this situation.
We initially get data from R/3 to BW to APO like the below:
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C1--
10
Later when the customer is changed or bought out by somebody C1 is changed to C2. Some times when the business doesnot know who the customer is initially they just put C1 as dummy and then after sometime replace it by C2. Then the new record coming in is as follows:
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C2--
10
BW can identify changes in transaction data but not in Master data. What I mean by this is when Qty. 10 changes from 10 to 20, the system can identify it in deltas.
If the customer (master data) changes to C2 from C1, the system thinks it's a new record all together then if I use delta loads, it gets me the following:
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C1--
10
01--M1C2--
10
If I am looking at Plant and Material Level, my data is doubled.
So we are planning to do a full load that works like this:
1. Initial data like the below:
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C1--

The CVC is created and the planning area has Qty.10
Then we delete the contents of cube and do a full load into the cube with changed customer
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C2--
10
This time a new CVC is created. Then we have another 10 loaded into Planning area.
If the system loads all CVCs, then the it would send
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C1--
0
01--M1C1--
10
If the system loads only combinations in cube,
then it loads
Plant--MaterialCustomer----Qty.
01--M1C2--
10
But the system already has another 10 for Customer C1 duplicating the values.
We are trouble in the second case.
We had to go fr this solution instead of realignment as our business has no way pf knowing that C1 was replaced by C2.

Loading data from Cube to ODS

Hi All,
I have a cube which contains projects data. I want to load the data from cube to a write optimized ODS. In the cube for a project i have multiple records. But while loading the data to ODS, I have to summarise the data in such a way that i should have one record for a project i.e if the cube has data as follows:
Project Cost
abc      100
abc       200
abc       300
Then in the ODS the record should be
Project    Cost
abc        600
How do i achieve this ?

Hi Satya,
Generate export datasource from Cube ( Right click on cube ->generate export datasource).
Create update rules for the ODS and in the update rule of Cost , you will find two options
1. overwrite
2. addition.
Choose addition and activate update rules. ..This will work exactly same way you wanted.
One more thing to mention ,Put project info object in to key fields of ODS and rest all info objects in to data fields.

Error while loading data into cube

hi BW gurus,
when ever i am trying to load data into the cube from flat file after scheduling iam getting short dump in BW system. I checked it in st22 it is giving me a error as exception add_partition_failed. please help me to sort out this problem. If you know the error recovery please give me the answer in detail.

Symptom
The process of loading transaction data fails because a new partition cannot be added to the F fact table.The loading process terminates with a short dump.
Other terms
RSDU_TABLE_ADD_PARTITION_ORA, RSDU_TABLE_ADD_PARTITION_FAILED, TABART_INCONSITENCY, TSORA, TAORA , CATALOG
Reason and Prerequisites
The possible causes are:
SQL errors when creating the partition
Inconsistencies in the Data Dictionary control tables TAORA and TSORA
Solution
BW 3.0A & BW 3.0B
In the case of SQL errors:Analyze the SQL code in the system log or short dump and if possible, eliminate the cause. The cause is often a disk space problem or lock situations on the database catalog or, less frequently: the partitioning option in the ORACLE database is not installed.
The most common cause of the problem is inconsistencies in the TAORA and TSORA tables. As of Support Package 14 for BW 3.0B/Support Package 8 for BW 3.1C, the TABART_INCONSITENCY exception is issued in this case. The reason is almost always missing entries in TSORA for the tablespaces of the DDIM, DFACT and DODS data classes.
The TAORA table contains the assignment of data classes to data tablespaces and their attributes, for example:

Foreach data tablespace, the TSORA table must contain an entry for the corresponding index tablespace, for example:

Hi Amit,
This conversion problem. Calender not maintained for Fiscal variant "V3", for Year: 1008.
Maintain calender for year: 1008 and transfer global setting from soruce(R/3).
RSA1--> Source systems --> from context menu --> transfer global settings > choose fiscal year variants and calender> execute
