Loading media into timeline

Hi all,
I would like to do the following in my plugin:
* Create an empty project
* Load a media into the project (lets say I got the UNC path from somewhere)
* Put the media onto the timeline
Is this possible? Is there any sample code?
The media can be any video format, assumping that it is supported by Premiere.
Do I need to extract the video info from the media and change configurations of the project?
Thanks.
Best regards,
lgw3000

Greetings ATR;
I feel really stupid and embarrased !
v11 opened in Expert mode by default but for two reasons I failed to notice.
1. I haven't been doing any video editing this year; so the axion: "use it or loose it" applies
2. I was expecting changes!  v12 opened in Quick Mode and I didn't notice and when I did; and switched, I didn't get the preview scren right away and jumpted the gun! So, just before going to bed last night, I poped the question and when I saw Steve's answer this morning I realized what I'd done.
I hate wasting peoples time with stupid, unresearched, questions; and I appologize for doing so now
To your quesion; I am still using Win7, but I have a new Asus UX32VD laptop; with a SSD, running Win8. I'm hoping to see an improvement in the performance of Pe because of the SSD and 10GB, maxed out, available memory.  I have yet to install it and I'm wondering if I can, legally, install my copy of the program on both computer; or if I am required to purchase a second copy?

  • Cannot load media from organizer into premiere elements 9.0

    I have spent the majority of the day trying to load media into a new project in premiere elements to edit the video. When I select the video and click edit in premiere elements, premiere opens but no media is available. It never loads the videos. I can review the videos including sound in elements organizer. I have a Canon Vixia HFS10, the file types were loaded directly to the harddrive of the computer as .mts. I have changed the presets for the type and that doesnt seem to help. I have updated premiere 9.0, disabled security, updated windows (vista).
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks,

    Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 on Windows Vista (32 or 64 bit?)
    Let us try the following before we get into an extensive exchange of problem details.
    Your Elements Organizer 9 .mts video that you are trying to import as media into a Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 project is only a thumbnail that traces back to the source video which exists saved to a computer hard drive location.
    What happens if you open a new project (with project preset set to match the properties of this particular video) and import this .mts video from the hard drive save location into the new project with Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1's Get Media/Files and Folders? Does the video import into the project?
    As an aside, do you have any other versions of Premiere Elements installed on your computer besides Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1? Also, is this a "it worked before, but now" or "it never worked before" problem?
    We will be watching for your follow up results.
    Thank you.

  • Load image into Photo Album

    I'm new to Oracle.
    Can I load image into database by using Photo Album by no writing any code?
    And how?
    If not,how to load image into database?

    Yes you can. You can load media into the database into the photo album tables.
    Is this what you want to do? What exactly are you trying to accomplish.
    You can also use PL/SQL to put images into the database into your own schema (as with other database information)

  • Project won't load into timeline

    When I click on a specific project to open in the timeline the arrow icon showing the "film reel" (in the bottom left corner) switches directions like it's loading it into the timeline, but I still see everything in my project library. FCPX behaves like I'm seeing the timeline, but I'm not. I'm in the middle of editing a documentary and this is really bad timing for the software to give me serious issues like this.
    I trashed preferences using "Preference Manager" and restarted, but it's not fixing the issue.  This happened once before a couple of months ago and that trick fixed it, but it's not working this time.
    Please help!
    I'm using FCPX v10.0.8 on a MacBookPro 2.7 Ghz Intel Core i7 with 16GB of RAM.  My media is on a Pegasus RAID connected via Thunderbolt.

    This happened again! It has to be a bug, and it's a debiltating bug. FCPX loads your chosen project into the timeline, but the project library does not move out of the way. The software thinks it's moved out of the way and behaves like you are viewing the timeline, but you can't see any clips.
    I trashed prefs, emptied the trash, shut down the computer, started up, launched FCPX, didn't open any other apps.  One project loaded into the timeline (a shorter, less complex one), and then when I went to the one I need to work on....boom! It's broken again.
    I worked almost all day today and it was fine, but now it got into this mode again. I had to quit and restart the program because other things were starting to get buggy (zoom viewer adjustment wasn't working correctly and the graphics on the audio weren't redrawing properly).
    I'm quite frustrated.

  • "Could not load scene into memory. Your document may be damaged." Lost whole timeline.

    Please help me - I have been working on a Flash CS6 file for a while now, and just got the message "Could not load scene into memory. Your document may be damaged." The file is not big, all it contains is 3 layers - one embedded video FLV file and 2 layers on top that only contain brushstrokes. The file is on my external hard-drive and now I get the message when I open it on either of my computers. I read feedback that I should re-link or re-import my assets, so I re-made the FLV file and imported it to replace the old one that it said couldn't be found. The problem is the timeline is completely empty. Even once I import the new video, the timline only has one "layer 1" with only one blank keyframe. Where is the rest of my work? I am good with backing up but was just away for a week and got a lot of work done so I couldn't back it up until I was back home... and obviously that isn't happening now.
    Please help if you have any idea where my work has disappeared to.

    Hi GregirArt,
    Can you please check your PublishSettings.xml file whether is there any duplicate profile entries?
    You can check the same by renaming your .fla to .zip and extract the zip file to open the PublishSettings.xml
    If you find multiple duplicate profile entries then please remove all the duplicate entries from the file and rename the file back to .fla and see if that helps.
    Thanks!

  • Load .MOV into adobe première éléments

    Please someone help me to Load .MOV into adobe première éléments 10?
    Everything should work , new windows computer , new caméra
    Olympus tg1, i Hans QuickTime Pro 7 open on the side !!!

    Patrick Bourret
    I found a sample video from your brand model camera and have tested it in my Premiere Elements 10 on Windows 7 64 bit.
    The sample that I test
    AVCHD video compression
    .swot audio compression
    .mov file extension wrapper format
    1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second
    I set the Premiere Elements 10 project preset =
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
    I imported the video (saved to my computer desktop) into the project via the program's Get Media/Files and folders. What I imported had the gspot readout out as show in the following screenshot
    This video on the Timeline displayed with perfect video and audio at play back in the Edit Mode monitor. No green video.
    Since you are using Premiere Elements 10, I believe that we need to focus on the video card, especially if your video card is from NVIDIA. If so, the answer may be to roll back the video card driver version rather than to assure that you have the latest video card version. Please check out the following

    We will discuss this further in the morning.
    Thank you for all the helpful information supplied.

  • How do you devide media into clips?

    Have not used Final Cut in a while and I'm lost. How do you seperate media into clips?
    Thanks

    Step 1: Import or capture the media in the proper format so it will match your Sequence settings.  Once media is imported, it is defined as a clip no matter how long its duration.
    Step 2: Double click a clip in the Browser to load it into the Viewer.  Set an IN point and an OUT point on the clip in the Viewer for the first section you want to use.
    Step 3: Edit the section into the Timeline where you want it to go.
    Step 4: repeat step 3 as needed.

    Hi ajoddo20,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    You can use Home Sharing to import music and other media from one computer to another. Please use the instructions and information located in the attached article for information on how to complete the process.

  • Can't drag media into project

    Hello,
    It seems I hit a key that suddenly prevents me from being able to drag media into premier pro, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure out what key it was I pressed or any options to allow me to again drag media into Premier.  I can still import media the old way by double, or right clicking stuff and opening menus and all of that, but it was so much easier to just drag stuff than going through all the menus and clicks required.
    Thank you for any suggestions!

    By opening explorer windows within Premiere to find files to import rather than dragging files into Premiere to import them.  For example double clicking on the Project window or by going up to Menu > File > Import.  Any of the various methods of importing media in which I would not just drag media from other programs (Like Audition or Photoshop) or the Desktop into the timeline or Program window of Premier.
    I apologize in your previous question you asked what happened now when I tried to drag a file into premiere, now it replaces my mouse cursor with a circle with a diagonal line through it.  I tried to take a screenshot, but it didn't capture the mouse cursor so would not be of any help.

  • Loading images into memory

    I have an applet that I need to load images into memory. For instance, lets say I am in the first section of the applet. While that section is being showed, I want to load the background image of the second section into memory.
    To load the initial image into momory, I am just using a Mediatracker. No problem there. But I don't want to load all 20 backgrounds into memory at the same time as they take a lot of time. My understanding is that if I create a new MediaTracker while the first chapter is running, it will potentially cause some chaos, as that will stop my thread from running while I have an image loading.
    Somebody told me perhaps I could create a new thread and have that thread load the backgroudn into momory? Perhaps something like this?
    public class TestClass extends JApplet {
         private TestClass thisClass;
         public void init() {
              thisClass = this;
              Runnable r = new Runnable() {
                   public void run() {
                        MediaTracker tracker = new MediaTracker(thisClass);
                        Image nextImage = getImage( getDocumentBase(), getImagePath() +"img1.jpg");
                        tracker.addImage(nextImage,0);
                        try {
                             tracker.waitForID(0);
                        } catch (InterruptedException ie) {
                             System.out.println(ie.toString());
              Thread t = new Thread(r);
              t.setDaemon(false);
              t.start();
              while(t.isAlive()) {
                   int i = 1;
              t.stop();
              t.destroy();
    }No idea if I am on the right track or not? Another friend told me something about swing helpers but couldn't tell me much more?
    Thanks in advance!

    I use media tracker when I need information about how percent the image is loaded. you can use JLabel to load the images since it has own image observer in it.
    hope you just want to deal with it. easiest way I can offer :)

  • Premiere hangs randomly when loading media from Canon 5D Mark III

    Premiere 5.5.0 hangs when loading media. When I drag like 20 files from explorer to Premiere, it loads some files, but at a random point it stops loading and freezes. I loaded every file manually by using ctrl-I within Premiere and saving regularly. After loading a random number of files (anywhere between 1 and 7) it freezes. I managed to get all the files into the project. Now when I try to open the project, it freezes randomly while loading the media. I copied the project and when I open the new one, it opens normal and asks where the media is. When I locate it... same problem, anywhere during loading it might freeze. When I cancel it, I can manually link every media file back, with the random risk of freezing.
    I reinstalled Quicktime without any improvement.
    I reinstalled Premiere without improvement.
    In old projects sometimes random media-files are not linked. Sometimes I can link them succefully. Sometimes it freezes when I try to link them.
    As far as I can tell this only happens to .mov files and not other types of media-files.
    Sometimes when I have been working on a project succesfully, Premiere still freezes when I close it.
    UPDATE
    I found out that this only concerned movies from my Canon 5d Mark III. I searched if other people had the same problem and found this thread: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/923736
    The solution is to rename the extensions from .mov into .mpg.
    This solves the issue...

    danielschweinert wrote:
    Does somebody else has this problem?
    Yup: I heard about it just today, in fact.  An FCP user was trying to get Cinema Tools to conform 24fps footage from a Mk II and Mk III to 25.  No problems with the Mk II footage, but no luck with the Mk III footage.
    Now, it could be just coincidence.  But if you don't believe in coincidence, you might think that there's something screwy with Canon's new codecs for the Mk III.  "Screwy" is a highly technical term, by the way.

    i am experiencing some problems with Media Sync.
    When i start the application i receive the msg: Failed to load media.

    Thanks for reading and for the good work you guys do here in the forum

    Hi Entro:
    This might be a problem with running on a localized operating system.   We’re still investigating the root cause.
    However, I have a suggested workaround – if you can try it and let us know if it works, that would be great.
    1.       Close MediaSync and iTunes
    2.       Hold down the shift key and double click your iTunes icon.  Keep holding, and a little dialog should come up that says ‘Choose Library’
    3.       Hit ‘create library’
    4.       Navigate to a folder like c:\myituneslibrary – you’ll have to create this folder.  It’s important that you create this folder outside of the standard ‘My Documents’ or ‘My Music’ location
    5.       Hit ok, iTunes will launch.  Import a few of your songs into this new library.
    6.       Launch MediaSync
    Hopefully Media Sync will launch and iTunes will load properly.
    Cheers

  • Premiere 12 won't load media

    Why won't my premiere 12 add some videos from my digital camera but will load other videos from the same camera?

    We have Windows 8.1.  My camera puts out MTS video, but it fails with these as well as MPG video that I convert.  I've always been able to hit add media and highlight several sources and they would load for the project.  Now I'm lucky if one will load. I am adding video files to the project.  I press add media. I choose the files and folder option and then I see my videos listed.  I highlight one and the add media box showing the video loading appears.  At this point about 90 % of the time it seems to freeze and show no progress on getting the clip over.  I have walked away and given it over an hour and yet nothing loads.  I will then hit cancel.  At this time I get a message that it is not responding and the program crashes. So I begin again and try one video file at a time and it will work for a couple and then crash.  I'm caught in a perpetual cycle.  I'm not loading huge videos.  I have been adding two and three second clips.
    Thanks,TLB

    I used to shoot video in my Powershot S3 IS (Format MVI_.AVI) and load them into iPhoto, I used quicktime pro so I could convert for emailing to family members.  That was when I was running Leopard now with Mt. Lion nothing works.  Videos do not open at all.  Any simple suggestions, I am not real keen on iMovie Productions and not real certain how they compress for emailing attachments.  Something simple here that I am missing?  Thanks so much.  I am a grandpa trying to share with family members far away (quickly & simply).

    I am surprised that Apple did not build a converter into Mt. Lion.
    Apple does have a converter built into Mountain Lion. It is call "Quicktime." However, in order to use this converter, you must first make sure the compression formats are playback compatible with QT. Basically, there are three levels of QT compatibility. The lowest is "Playback." These file can be played by QT but may not be conversion or edit compatible with QT. The second level is QT "Conversion" compatible. These files are playback compatible and can be converted to other compression formats using QT. "Edit" compatible media files are "Fully" compatible with QT since the can be played, converted and/or edited by QT. The main problem here is that AVI is a "legacy" file format that has not been officially supported by Microsoft for more than 11 years when it was replaced by Windows Media multimedia file/compression formats. Many of the original compression formats used in AVI files have never been transcoded for the Mac platform, use beyond system 9, or use beyond PPC platforms. In addition, some commonly used AVI codecs are proprietary or use non-standard (hybrid) profile and level combinations. In short, there is little wonder that Apple has been distancing itself from this outdated file type as it re-writes and upgrades its own QT structure to support more standardized, more scalable, more modern high definition file types and compression formats. It is really unfortunate that users continue to use this outmoded file type simply because it is freely available, easy to use, or they are simply too lazy to move on to a more modern or more efficient file types and/or compression formats.
    I tested Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for the Mac, which seems to be the "state of the art".  I may be purchasing a new camera which might create a whole new set of variables.  This program seems to cover all bases and is great for novices.
    There are many third-party apps available if you wish to search for them. Many are even available in the App Store. Most do their job well and it is usually a matter of personal user preference as to which is best.
    HandBrake seems more suited to folks with more experience and knowledge.
    I mentioned Handbrake primarily because it is free and easy to use when you employ the included conversion presets options. (The TV options can normally be used for almost any situation depending on the source file and output requirements.) It is also excellent for more experienced users, but has a somewhat limited choice of output options as it does not access the user's system QT codec component configuration.
