Loading music on to my computer

Recently I downloaded a virus on my computer, I had to reformat the entire hard drive loosing everything, however I still had my music saved on my IPOD. The thing is, now i am trying to put the music back on the computer but it is not working, I tried to enable disk space on the IPOD but that doesn't do anything, can someone please help, I have 9 gigs of music and do not want to loose it all or the work I put in to build this library.

How do I load music videos from my computer on to my iPad when I don't have "import" on my iTunes?

Could you explain more? WHat do you mean that you do not have "import" on iTunes? Are you trying to find an import command to add the videos to your iTunes media library? It is called Add to library and is found in the iTunes File menu.
But you can add files to the iTunes media library by just dropping the files onto the iTunes icon.

the easiest way is to create a playlist with the tunes you want on the iPad and sync that playlist to it.

  • Want to sync FROM ipod TO computer w/CD loaded music

This is a strange one. I have what I believe is a first or second generation ipod nano. The ipod and the computer were working wonderfully. We loaded lots of music via CD into the computer and synced w/ the ipod. Then I had to give the computer back to my mother-in-law, so before I gave it to her I wiped out the itunes library on the computer.
NOW, we have the computer back so we can load more music onto the ipod. I simply want to load the music from the ipod TO the itunes library on the computer -- but it won't let me. Is there any way to do this without having to wipe out all the music that is on the ipod and reload manually into the computer, then sync to the ipod??
PLEASE HELP!! The computer in question is a Dell laptop.
    Thanks.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola and iDump.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

You can copy iTunes purchased music from your phone to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option.
To copy back non-iTunes music (e.g. music copied from CDs and synced to the phone) you will need a third-party program on your computer - there are some listed half-way down this page : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device

    Hi Harry,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you have installed iTunes on your new computer, make sure you have downloaded or copied the songs to the new computer as well. The steps in this article can help with copying your music to a new computer:

You may also be able to download the past purchases from the iTunes Store:

This user tip should be helpful too. It refers to the iPhone, but it's equally valid for iPods as well…

  • New computer, can't get iTunes to load music

I've had a variety of problems, and transferred my music from my old computer to my new one (without using my iPod) - just moved the songs and folders. I cannot seem to make iTunes find and import the songs automatically - my only recourse is to "import" one at a time - which is painful for the hundreds of songs i have. Any ideas for me?

the trick was "add folder", and i just picked the highest level folder that had all the albums in it! thanks!
