Loading my game files from the jar

Hi again...
I obviously have textures, maps, sounds, etc. for the FPS game to work. I want it to be in the jar file, but I'm having trouble loading the files directly from the jar, rather than from the files on my hard drive.
Since I'm using, among other, JOGL, I require certaiin dll's for the game to work. How can I import the dynamic libraries in such a fashion that it can be somewhere in my jar file and still be loaded?
Thanx!

There is no button you can push in Premiere that will erase all your projects. Where were the .prproj files stored?
Thanks
Jeff

  • Loading a sound file from the library to play it in one frame

    I am new to actionscript. I have a flash file with several frames. In each frame I need to play a sound file.
    I've added all the sounds to the library and done all the necessary steps to export for actionscript.
    Here's my code to play the sound in one frame.
    var sound1:Sound = new Cal10101();
    sound1.play();
    This works great to play the sound. I am using buttons to move to the next frame. When I click the button to move to the next frame, I need the sound from frame 1 to stop and a new sound which would be Cal10102 to start playing.
    How do I stop the sound from frame 1 from playing when I go to the next frame?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    what you should do is use:
    var sound1:Sound = new Cal10101();
    var sound1SC:SoundChannel = sound1.play();
    and before you goto the next frame execute:
    sound1SC.stop();
    // but you'll probably find it easier to use:
    SoundMixer.stopAll();
    before going to the next frame

    Is the class that is loading the image contained in a package? If the resource name does not start with a forward slash, it is interpreted as relative to the package of your class(when doing getClass().getResource())

  • Loading a text file from a relative location in shockwave

    Hi all
    I'm REALLY sorry I have to post about such an inane problem.
    I've googled this and looked in forums and found several
    suggestions but none of them are working for me. I want to load a
    text file from the same directory as my movie. I can get this
    working in authoring mode, in a projector, and in a shockwave movie
    on the local machine (using getNetText("/text.txt")).
    But when i put the shockwave movie on a server, it does NOT
    work. The macromedia documentation says that getNetText works with
    relative URLs. But when I put in the full URL, it does work, so
    obviously the shockwave movie is having a problem finding the text
    file which IS in the same directory as it.
    Any suggestions / ideas? All i want to do is access a text
    file :)
    Sorry again for such a lame problem

    thanks - this worked. I also had to not use a repeat loop to
    wait for netDone() to return true.
    Thanks again

  • How to read a file inside the JAR file

    Hi All,
    I want to save some preferences in a file called "preferences". I kept the preferences file under my java package.
    If i am running the code inside the NetBeans 6.9 IDE it's working file. But once i have created a JAR and try to run the application, it couldn't find the path.
    Please help me that how to resolve this issue. I don't want to save this preferences file outside of my JAR (i.e) within my java package.
    Here is the code,
    package mypackage;
    import java.io.BufferedReader;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    import java.io.FileOutputStream;
    import java.io.InputStreamReader;
    import java.io.OutputStream;
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    public class ReadFile
        private void writeFile()
            try
                OutputStream out = new FileOutputStream(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("mypackage/preferences").getPath().replace("%20", " "));
                PrintWriter writer = new PrintWriter(out);
                writer.println("Hello Java!");
                writer.close();
                out.close();
            catch (Exception ex)
                System.out.println(ex.getMessage());
        private void readFile()
            try
                FileInputStream fi = new FileInputStream(getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("mypackage/preferences").getPath().replace("%20", " "));
                BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fi));
                System.out.println(br.readLine().trim());
                br.close();
                fi.close();
            catch (Exception ex)
                System.out.println(ex.getMessage());
        public static void main(String[] args)
            ReadFile read = new ReadFile();
            read.writeFile();
            read.readFile();
    }If i run the JAR, i get the following error message,
    {color:#ff0000}*file:\my jar path\jarname.jar!\mypackage\preferences (The filename, directoryname, or volume label syntax is incorrect)*{color}

    You cannot update a running jar file. I am sorry. I didn't know about it. Thanks to point out.
    There are two ways I approach this depending on my exact requirements -
    1) use the java.util.prefs.Preferences APII will try this one
    >
    2) if not already present I copy the preferences file from the jar to a known place. I use a directory in the user's home directory and normally make the directory name the program with a '.' prefix.
    One cannot access files in a jar file using the File API. One needs to use the getResource() or getResourceAsStream() methods on Class or ClassLoader.

    If you want to read a file from the JAR file that the
    application is packaged in (rather than a separate
    external JAR file) you do it like this ...
    InputStream is =
    ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream("filename");Better to use
    this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream();
    From a class near to where the data is. This deals with multiple classloaders properly.

  • How do I update a file in an Applet's JAR file from the Applet code

    Here's my problem.
    My applet is using a serializable history data in which I am storing in the applet's JAR file. When I run the applet, I read the file with "getResourceAsStream()" and run my program with that hist data. When my applet is closed, I need to update this file from my Applet's code and I dumfounded about how to do that.
    Is there any way to update a file in the Applet's JAR file through the Java Applet code? (i.e. OutputStream?).
    Would appreciate any advice people have.

    Just place a copy of the file on the local hard disk and update that. When you start the Applet you try to read from the hard disk. If the file exists then no problem otherwise copy it from the jar to the hard disk.

  • ITunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video. Any thoughts on why not?

    iTunes 11 previously imported a video file, which I loaded on to my iPod Nano, but I removed the file from the iTunes library and now it won't (re-)import the same video.
    I'm using 2 PCs, each with video files (.MP4) on their respective hard drives, and also one external drive with other video files on that I move between the two devices.
    iTunes on one PC will (sometimes!) let me add video content from the external hard drive, which is clearly iTunes-compatible, because I can then copy it over to my iPod Nano. On the other PC, I couldn't load that same video from the external hard drive. But if I copied that same video on to the PC's internal hard drive first, then iTunes would let me import it. That was yesterday - now iTunes is refusing to load any files from the internal or external hard drive(s).
    Any thoughts or suggestions, please?

    So I tried copying the files from the external hard drive to a USB drive. I could import the video files from the USB drive!
    So then I tried importing the same files on to my PC's internal hard drive again. I could import the video files from the internal hard drive!
    So then I tried to import the very same files that failed to load on the very same PC previously. I could now import them!
    I still can't import from the external hard drive directly, though.
    I really don't think I like the process of importing things into iTunes very much... any suggestions on what's causing any of this behaviour would be very interesting.

  • How to add multiple images to a JLabel from the jar file

    I want to add multiple images in a JLabel but the icon property only allows me to add one. I thought I could use html rendering to add the images I need by using the <img> tab, but I need to use a URL that points to the image.
    How do I point to an image inside the jar file? If I can't, is there another way to show multiple images in a JLabel from the jar file?

    Thanks, it works perfectly. It's a really smart way of fixing the problem too :)
    I also found your toggle button icon classes which is something I've also had a problem with.
    Thanks.

  • Extract BPEL process from the JAR file deployed to BPEL Server

    Hello All-
    We have a BPEL process deployed in our production environment but unfortunately we do not have a back-up copy in our test environment.
    I got the BPEL deployment JAR file from the production server but I am unable to extract the BPEL Process as well as the XSL file.
    I used WINRAR to extract but it was showing that the JAR file is not a valid archive. We need the prod deployed version of the XSL as well as the BPEL process for a change and we are unable to proceed.
    If anybody has faced similar kind of issue, please let me know how can it be resolved. Also please let me know if there are any tools which can extract the files.
    PLease note that we are on BPEL 10.1.2.0.2
    Appreciate your help and thanks in advance.
    Thanks,
    Dibya

    Hi Dibya
    jar -xvf <filename> will work as others said.
    However, please make sure you have another TEST/DEV Environment running in par with PROD.
    Always, suggested to test first on the TEST/DEV Env for applying any new patches/config changes...then appropriately migrate to actual PROD Environments.
    Also, always take a complete backup before you do some R&D on the SOA server.

  • I use Windows XP. The problem now is that on two consecutive occasions when I open iTunes it either says the library is corrupt and creates a new one or will not load a previous one from the file. All my meta data and 2K  songs are "missing".

    Can I recreate my proper library with its 8700+ songs and a load of meta data from the iPod. Since two upgrades ago iTunes, for me, has become very unreliable.

    Hi there caunsall!
    I have an article for you that can help you re-create your iTunes library. That article can be found right here:

  • How to load the sequence file from the process model?

    Does anyone have an example process model that loads a sequence file? The out-of-the-box process models assume the sequence file is already loaded. I want the process model to identify the UUT type and load the appropriate sequence file based on that.

    Mark,
    A better solution to your question can be accomplised if you have TestStand 2.0.
    Within the entry point of a process modle you can set the client sequence using Execution.ClientFile(). This is a new method of TestStand 2.0. It was specifically designed so that you could dynamically set the client sequence within the process model.
    Currently the entry points in the default process models (i.e. Test UUTs and Single Pass) are configured to Show Entry Point When Client File Window is Active. This means that you must open and have active a client sequence file before you can execute one of the entry point. You probably do not want this implementation if you are going to set the client file during the entry point execution. To change this you will need to go the sequence properties of your entry point (while the sequence is open select Edit>>Sequence Properties), switch to the Model tab of the entry point's property dialog box, and enable Show Entry Point For All Windows. The entry point will then appear whether or not you have an open sequence file active.
    You will need to add at least 3 steps to your entry point sequence that all use the ActiveX Automation Adapter. Remember that MUST disable Record Results for any step you add to the process model. The 3 steps will perform the following tasks:
    1) Obtains a sequence file reference of the file that you want to be the client sequence file. You will need to use the Engine.GetSequenceFileEx method. You will need a local variable (ActiveX data type) in which to store the sequence file reference.
    2) Set the client sequence file using the Execution.ClientFile property.
    3) Close the reference to the client sequence file in the Cleanup step group of your entry point sequence using Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx
    I am attaching a SequenceModel.seq file (the default process model in TestStand 2.0) in which we have modified the TestUUTs entry point as described above.
    Note that you'll be prompted to enter the path to your client sequence file. This is a message popup that you can delete and it was added for your review only.
    Good luck in your project,

  • Unable to access gif files from the server

    hi all,
    i have successfully signed an applet and it is loading in the client system also. in that applet, i instantiated a jbutton as given below:
    JButton jb = new JButton(new ImageIcon("http://192.168.91.154:8080/success/set.gif"));
    but the icon din appear and a blank button appears, even when accessed from the server system.
    if i give the exact path like c:/blazix/webfiles/success/ set.gif, the icon is coming in the server system but not in other systems. i tried without port no also but in vain. pl solve my problem. what i need is how to
    specify the path of the file[any file] which is present in server.
    or if i put all the gif files in the jar file, can i access the gif files present in the jar file [set for archive] ? if i can, give me the soln for accessing the gif file present in the jar file, so that i need not access the server to get the gif files.(i.e) how to specify the path of the gif files present in the jar file?
    i ve one more doubt. the jni library file shld be in the server, and the client has to access the library in the server. i think the applet loaded in the client ll search for the library in the local m/c only . how to make the applet to search for library in the server??
    i feel only by using rmi we can solve this problem. am i correct? if so i feel that an appln or applet running in the server shld access the jni library, and the applet in the client side should communicate with this server appln using rmi to get the data.is it correct? is there
    anyother way?
    i appreciate your help in this regard. thanks in advance. bye, padmanbhan.

    Better information on what you are doing with JNI might help you get an answer.
    If you have some server process that needs to use JNI, then I would code a servlet to call, instead of using RMI to ge there.
    Depending on your environment, and the target audiences environment, RMI may just cause you a lot of grief. Firewalls etc, get in the way of RMI connections and force security holes to be opened in order to work.
    If you use a servlet, then traffic to your server process is done via standard http calls, which will already be enabled, because your app runs in a browser.
    If ther data requirements are heavy duty, your server could always send an XML stream to the client, which would allow you to describe complex data to the client.
    Running JNI stuff from the client directly means a lot of local infrastructure to run your app. The code you want to run, the JNI library ....
    If what you have is really an application, but want the convenience of starting it from a browser, look at Java WebStart. Then you can distribute an application via the browser, and WebStart will worry about the deployment issues for you.
    In Summary:
    Stay away from RMI from applets if you can help it.
    If you really have an App, then try WebStart to manage the distribution issues for you.
