Loading my itunes onto a  new IPOD nano

I want to buy a nano for my cousin who will be visiting from Africa and load my itunes on it for him. (I use the mini.) Questions:
1.Will I lose or alter anything on my PC if I do this?
2. Do I need to install the nano software on my computer to do this?
3. When he returns to Africa, and installs the nano software on his computer can he upload the tunes I load onto the nano?

1. No
2. No, as long as you hav e the most recent iPod Updater
3. Yes:

I hope this helps!

  • I can't put songs onto my new iPod Nano

I previously had a 30G iPod but replaced it with an 8G nano and now I can't put any songs from iTunes onto my new iPod. I have over 10G in my library and thought it would be as easy as clicking a button to deselect all songs and then selecting only the ones I now want to add into my iPod.
When I attach the nano to a USB, I get a welcome message saying I can do 1 of 2 things and then I hit "continue" then this message comes up that iTunes is accessing the store and that doesn't go away.
I am not sure what to do...Please help!

Hey there Shea 9! I'd recommend taking a look at the following article
The New User's Guide to iPod Nano I linked you directly to step 3 to fill your iTunes and iPod with music.
If you have any other problems try and be a little more specific as to what you are trying to do or what kind of error message you get.

  • I lost my iPod touch and now have a new one.  Is there a way to transfer all the songs on have in iTunes onto the new iPod?

I lost my iPod touch and bought a new one?  Is there a way to transfer all the songs I have in iTunes onto the new iPod?  I am scared I will lose it all when I sync the new one or that I have to start all over.   Please help!!

You can do better than that. You can click on the Restore button that appears under your device in iTunes. This will restore your iPod to factory settings as if it were fresh out of the box. But don't worry. By doing a restore, you will then be given the option to "Restore from Backup." This will allow you to restore the state of your previous iPod!!

  • When I download from iTunes to my new iPod nano, can I select only the one folder I have made for download -- do not want my whole music library to be synched.

Am I able to download only a selected music folder I have created in iTunes to my new iPod nano?  I do not want to download my whole music library.  Want to know before whole site sync starts up automatically.

What you CAN do is create a playlist in iTunes containing all the content you wish to be synced to your Nano.  Then configure your Nano to sync only that one playlist from under the iPod's Music configuration tab in iTunes.

  • TS1593 How do I get existing music from itunes onto my new Ipod touch?

How do I get my existing music from itunes on my computer onto my new ipod touch?
Itunes recognizes the new device, but when I try to sync it up, it says sync is complete, but no music shows up on the ipod. Itunes is the latest versioin (11.0.04)
(I suspect it has something to do with my having an older ipod nano. The older Ipod nano does sync up ok).

It has nothing to do with the nano. I suspect that yo do not have the right setting checked to sync the media you want to sync, See:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPodWas the iPod touch previous synced to another computer/iTunes library? In that case yo can only use the manual method of syncing discussed in the article. If yo use the automatic method the media from the iPod will be erased \. I thin you are using the manual method but the songs are not checked to to sync.

  • TS1567 I have an old ipod nano. How do I download the songs I purchased from itunes onto my older ipod?

How do I download the songs I purchased from itunes onto my older ipod nano...I believe it is a 2nd generation? I plug it into my computer, but nothing happens!!!

    Hello shay82578,
It sounds like you are trying to sync music from iTunes to your iPod nano.  I found some articles with steps to sync music to your iPod:
If you are using iTunes 11, you will want to follow the steps in this article:
iTunes 11 for Windows: Set up syncing for iPod, iPhone, or iPad
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12313
If you are using an earlier version of iTunes, you can follow the steps in this article:
iTunes: Syncing media content to iPod
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1351
To be able to sync music from iTunes to your iPod nano, the music will need to be on the computer rather than streaming from iTunes in the Cloud.  You can find the steps to download your purchased music to your computer's hard drive under the section titled, "Apps, Books, Music, Movies, or TV shows on a computer" in the following article:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • I have many very old songs on my PC and want to move them to my new IPOD Nano 7th. How do I do this?

I want to put all of my real old songs in my PC library onto my new IPOD Nano 7th generation.  How do I do this?

Import them into an iTunes library if needed, and then sync the iPod with that library.

  • I have a new ipod nano and I am trying to load music to it and cannot find my music from my itunes that was on my Mac

I have a new ipod nano - im trying to find my old iTunes music as I had an iPod touch about 8 months ago and cannot find my iTunes music and it is not on my current computer that was connected to old iPod touch

Your music will only be where you put it.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Everything should be there.

  • Multiple issues with new IPod Nano+ ITunes 7

I am a formerly happy and loyal Apple user, but have recently become disenchanted due to what I see as bad faith actions.
I bought a new Ipod nano for my wife and brought it home to set up. When I plugged it in, it told me that I needed ITunes 7. Fair enough, I go up to download ITunes 7, only to be told that it won't work with OS 10.2.8 and that I need 10.3.9. There is nothing on the IPod packaging that indicates that I can only use ITunes 7. So as far as I can tell, Apple wants me to pay another $129 to buy a new OS, so that I can use my new ipod. It doesn't give me the option to use it with my existing setup. Is there a workaround so that I can use my ipod with my existing OS?
I started transferring my music collection to a PC to see if I could make it work there, since ITunes 7 works with Windows XP, which I have. This creates a new problem, since I can't seem to get the DRM protected music I bought on my Mac through ITunes to work on the PC. Can't get it to load onto the IPod, which is my whole intent in transferring it. My solution now is to not buy anything more from Itunes, since it will be a pain to transfer it when I change computers. I am not going to burn CDs for 400 songs, just to load them onto another computer. It seems like there are solutions on the web that can help you strip the DRM protection from songs, so I plan on using those to be able to listen to the music that I paid for.
Sor far, I have spent multiple hours trying to make things work. I have no interest in anything other than being able to listen to my music on our Ipods. While I understand the necessity to protect copyrights and limit illicit sharing, Apple has gotten a little too manipulative of a loyal customer base. Apple can count me in the formerly happy, now alienated group.
    Mac G4   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

I just looked at one of the boxes for the new nano, and it has this on the back:
Requires Mac or PC; USB 2.0; Mac OS X v10.3.9

  • How do I sync iCloud/iTunes Match content with my new iPod nano?

I have a MacBook Air with the associated small flash drive. For that reason, all of my music is in the cloud and some of it is via iTunes Match. I bought a new iPod Nano and I want to sync most or all of my music with that device for use when I travel and do not have WiFi available. When I did my initial sync it says I have 38 songs. Obviously those are only the ones on the local drive = recent purchases. How can I sync all of my music with this iPod whithout having to download all of my music to my MacBook first - an impossibility due the limited drive space? Or am I just out of luck and need to return the iPod to the store. Thanks!

Ipod is not compatible to iCloud. The only way to load the music is through iTunes.

  • My itunes won't recognise any of the music that is already stored on my computer or let me sync anything to my new ipod nano!! any ideas??

I recently bought a new ipod nano and when i got it home and connected it to my computer I was told my version of i-tunes was not compatable and I had to un-install it and then download it again.  After I did this 4 times i eventually managed to get itunes to open on my computer and recognise my new ipod.  However after all that hassle my version of itunes now wont recognise any of the music that has already been downloaded onto my computers music files.  I have tried copying the music across and also using the add music to the itunes library command and nothing seems to work!  I really like the ipod but if i had known that itunes was this difficult to work i would have picked a different type of music player!  since i have bought the ipod ive heard nothing but bad things about how difficult and complicated itunes is to work so if anyone has any ideas for how i can fix this problem thatd be great! Thanks

You need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

I loaded iTunes onto a new computer.  All of my music shows up, but none of my playlists show (ex. Rudys Shuffle, Rudys Nano, Purchased, etc.). What do I have to do to get these playlists back?  Thank you.

What procedure did you follow to move the content from your old computer to the new one?
