For both BW 3.X and BI 7.0........replicate the datasource in the BW side and activate it.............if require create Generic datasource and replicate it........
In BW 3.X.....
1) Create infosource
2) Create transfer rules and update rules
3) Create an infopackage...............with update mode full update( Update tab),in the Processing tab you can make it PSA and then into data targets........only data targets..........or PSA and data targets parallely...............
For Delta load..........1),2) is same...........
3) then you have to create a full Upload IP...........and you have to run it first..........
4) Then you have run a init IP without data transfer to det the init flag
5) then run Delta IP........
Init and delta upload will be always without selection......
BI 7.0 :
1) Create an infopackage and load data till PSA..............
2) create transformation between PSA and data targets.....
3) The create a DTP and load data to the target.............depending on your requirements you DTP can be full or delta..........

Loading Non-English Characters using VBA and BAPI

Hi Experts,
I am trying to load Non-English characters (Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.) into a SAP Table using BAPI and VBA. I have set the connection language and codepage values but when I run the tool, the non-English characters display as ????? or #####. Do you know how to fix this issue?

If your language is a unicode tehn you need to change the options like IN SAP you need to change it to unicode in the initial screen Customize local layout(ALT F12) options 118 --> Encoding ....

This field has been defined as of varchar2 type of size 50 in the db. When we enter 49 English characters and then one German character, the database is throwing the error that the inserted value is too large for the column.Is it that the German character is taken as equivalent to two English characters ? Or is there any database level setting that can be done for this ? For the time being we have identified certain critical fields and have doubled the size of their fields in the db. But I guess there has to be another solution to this....

Indeed, your German character is using two bytes to store itself. Consult the Oracle JDBC Developer's Guide.

The cursor prompt is present. Tapping screen just brings up the option to: "Select Select All Paste." I have rebbooted with no change.

How to update DSO data in Data targets (ODS data into Data Targets)

In 3.5 version we have a option <b>Update ODS data in Data Targets</b>
to Transfer Data From ODS to Info cube.
In 7.0 How to transfer DataStore Object data to Info Cube, I can't find
Update DSO data in Data Target option.
can any body Help me to solve this problem.

Hi prassna,
0RECORDMODE are auto generated infoobjects which are requried to be mapped if you are going for a delta update from your DSO otherwise you can proceed further without mapping the 0RECORDMODE and neglect the system generated warning
check this for the <b>Creation of data targets</b>
     In left panel select info provider
     Select created info area and right click to create ODS( Data store object ) or Cube.
     Specify name fro the ODS or cube and click create
     From the template window select the required characteristics and key figures and drag and drop it into the DATA FIELD and KEY FIELDS
     Click Activate.
     Right click on ODS or Cube and select create transformation.
     In source of transformation , select object type( data source) and specify its name and source system Note: Source system will be a temporary folder or package into which data is getting stored
     Activate created transformation
     Create Data transfer process (DTP) by right clicking the master data attributes
     In extraction tab specify extraction mode ( full)
     In update tab specify error handling ( request green)
     Activate DTP and in execute tab click execute button to load data in data targets.

OWB 10R2 XML_ETL_UTILS xml data into multiple targets

I am having some trouble with loading an XML file correctly into the target tables.
The XML is looking like this (simplified))

A have a very simple data model:
TABLE data (DATAID, FIELD1, FIELD2)
TABLE datadetails (DETAILID, DATAID, DETAILTYPE, DETAILKEY, DETAILVALUE)
(Both set to truncate/insert)
When generating the pluggable mappings using the XML_ETL_UTILS each 'level' is generated into a pluggable map (DATA, ROW, CHILDREN, CHILD, PETS, PET).
1) The first problem I have was how to keep the relationship between the 2 tables. When inserting data into the 'datadetails' table, the data has to been linked to the correct row of the 'data' table.
This has been solved (not the best way I think) by manually modify the pluggable mappings CHILDREN, CHILD, PETS and PET to include and pass through the 'rowid' attribute so this 'rowid' can be inserted into the 'datadetails' table when inserting the details.
-> My guess is that there should be a better way or the XML_ETL_UTILS should be able to generate the code to handle this 'parent<->child' relation preservation. Only I don't know how (yet).
2) The problem I am facing now (after manually modifying the generated pluggable mappings to pass through the ID of the parent), is that for each parent ALL details of the XML file are inserted and not just the details belonging to that particular parent.
It seems that when processing the data for the 'datadetails' table, it re-read the whole XML file and looks for all instances of the detail element of the particular pluggable mapping.
This results in a 'datadetail' table looking like this

This is off course not correct. Only the ones marked with a * should be there.
When trying to add a filter within the pluggable mappings to only look for the elements that have the correct parent (fortunately we do have the parent ID available because of the previously mentioned manual modifications of the mappings), the code that gets generated is not correct because it generated code with incorrect (missing) references to the correct variables and doesn't work.
-> Any idea of how to fix this?
=> More in general: what is the correct approach with OWB to load XML files that contain multiple rows and rows can have multiple level parent<->child relations? (Very common in XML world). Somewhere after processing we need a relational model to hold this data. Any help, examples, etc. is very much appreciated.

es you will have to regenerate the pluggable mappings (rerun the expert). and you can either rebuild your map or synchronize the pluggable mapping operator in the map.
The error crept in when I introduced the 'create root node' option in the expert, this path worked, just the original did not ..sorry:) The fix should resolve your problem and I will get a full update uploaded.

Removing non-English characters from data.

Ours is global system with some data with non-English characters. We want to download file by removing this non-English characters.
Any suggestions how we can remove these non-English characters from file..?

     Note that the new text can be longer than the old.
So i dont think it ll be useful for eliminating the sp. chars.
U have to check each and every alphabet with std 26 alphabets

How to put a String(date) into Date (java.util.date)??

I got a GUI here and I need to read some JMaskedTextFields from it. I put them all into Strings. Now I need to pass them to the search-function, but one of the search arguments is not string. Its Date. I tried to initialize Date with Date(String s) but he doesnt take it. Now Im asking how can I do this the easiest way?
The String has only digits and a . betwenn them, like this: 12.02.1978 and I want to pass this into the Date.

The Problem is that he only makes the first print when both dates are given. If I only give him the first, so he prints the first. If I give him only the scond, so he prints the second. But when I give him both, he only prints the first!!! why?

Loading an external swf into a target, prompting it to go to a certain frame (loadMovie)

hello,
I am making a website for myself and am having an issue with loading an swf and commanding the swf to go to a certain frame. Bassically I have one page, that has 7 seperate small thumbnail images on it which are buttons, each is commanded to open an swf file labelled slideshow. The slideshow swf showcases the thumbnails seperatly in a much larger scale, then the user can look through the images using previous and next buttons.
this is the code i have so far:
on (release) {
loadMovie("meglarge.swf",target_f);
So each image or Button has this code on it. Then the movie "slideshow.swf" is loaded into the target destination "target_f"
Although each time you click on any button it starts directly on the first frame of the slideshow. Which is always the first pictue. I want the user to be able to click on any image on the main page and it will load that frame of the slideshow first, which can then be navigated to the other pictures using forward and back buttons.

In order to be able to control the loaded file you have to wait until it has fionished loading until you can command it to do anything. Using loadMovie does not support any ability to determine when the file has finished loading. You need to use the MoiveClipLoader class instead, where you can make use of the addListener method to detect when loading is complete. If you look up the MovieClipLoader.addListener method in the help documents there is an example there showing how to use it.

Convert data into Date Format imported from MS SQL Server.

I have imported Data from MS SQL Server. The "Date Column" received in number format like 41017.6361109954. How can i convert it into Date in Oracle SQL.
If i import same Data in Excel and change the Column Type to Date. It changes successfully. But in Oracle, I tried To_Date function with different parameters but it didn't work.

Split dates into date range windows

Hi,
I have a peculiar requirement to create windows for different dates.
For example I have two date ranges (two rows in the table column
Start Date End Date
01-Jan 28-Feb
15-Jan 14-Feb (this starts between the previous date range i.e. 01-Jan to 28-Feb)
I have to split dates in a way so that it creates different windows with start and end date i.e.
Start Date End Date
01-Jan 15-Jan (15Jan because it comes before 28 Feb)
16-Jan 14-Feb ( 14Feb as it comes before 28 Feb)
15-Feb 28-Feb
Is there any sql function which can be used to achieve this? or any help you can provide? Thanks.

Populate current date into date field?

I've been working on trying to get a date field to populate the current date if the user enters ' / ' into the field. So far I have been able to replace ' / ' with a value but I am not able to populate the current date. I have tried several suggests that on who to populate current date but have not been able to get my code functioning.
I have place the below code on the exit even of the date field which runs correctly but when I try to add in the date it breaks. Any one have a suggestion?

I have to agree with Radzmar that the workflow is quite odd. That character is a bit unique; however there are 2 ways you can get this to work. One is just to use the code snippet (below) on the Exit event of the text field where the "/" is located or you could use the Action Builder. The Action Builder is a bit easier to understand if your coding knowledge is a bit lacking like myself. Just go to the toolbar at the top, select tools then Action Builder. Each action has a condition and a result. In the condition section select the field which is going to contain the "/", make sure it is set to "is" and then in the box put /. From the result box, select "set the value of a field", select the date field that you wish to have today's date and then it make sure it says "to today's date". Then whenever someone puts "/" into the text field, the date field will populate today's date automatically.

2nd file having cols as account_no & last name
There is a table called temp has 3 cols accounts_number first name & last name
accounts number in both files are same
Now I wann upload these 2 files in to table temp
how do I do that

Is that a little clearer?
Are you saying there is a relationship between the data in the two files?
How do you know which last name relates to which first name in the first file? Is there a reference key between the records on the two files?
Perhaps you'd better show us an example of the contents of the files so we can see what you are trying to do.
