Loading on FF does not seem to complete

My SQA folks have noticed when they launch the help file it
does not appear to stop loading. The I did update the
whskin_info.htm file to close the table.
They are using FireFox 2.0 and 3.0 and this is happening on
both windows and linux clients.

You don't say which version of RH you are using. This was
fixed in RH7 Patch 2.
Otherwise there is some information on my site under
Browsers.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I've un-checked the track and re-synced the Ipad as suggested, but then re-checking and re-syncing han no effect. The track is still missing the final minute and a half or so. I've tried it twice, but the effect is the same.
Any other ideas? Would un-checking the entire music collection and staring again work, or is that a road to disaster?

Hi, i have a new pc and have downloaded itunes to it, but whenever i log onto the istore it does not seem to load up propley when ever i click on free books nothing loads up on if i click onto and authers name for more books nothings appers i close and reload but its always the same, even on my mac mini it was doing they same, can anyone help please

In large PDF files my cursor moves around the page at warp speed. It does not seem to make any difference if I slow it down with Sys Prefs. This is not only in preview but also other programs to open PDFs.

In large PDF files the cursor moves at warp speed with a mind of it's own, I've tried slowing it down in Sys Pref with no luck. On small files cursor action is normal. This happens in Safari, Preview and other programs that use PDF files. Sorry to say this does not seem to be a new problem with 7.# I've had it with prvevious versions of operating system Right now I'm using a Apple wireless mouse and key board. Using the USB keyboard and mouse the same problem does not go away.

This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you boot, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

Blog summary does not seem to update online

I've just updated a blog I've created for a musician friend of mine; it's been done on iweb 3.0.2 & published via ftp using godaddy: http://lauramoodymusic.com/lmm/news/news.html
However, the main blog summary which is correct on iweb, and the version published to a local folder, is not updating online. The new blogs are visible if you go to the archive, and by clicking on the RSS feed, but not from this front page... I've tried to republish all the relevant pages again, manually, but this doesn't seem to have worked either.

iTunes does not read the tags until you select/play a track. It stores the tag information in its library file and this will not reflect changes made to tags with an external editor until iTunes looks at the track.
You can force iTunes to re-read all the tags by selecting all the tracks in your library, right clicking in the selection and choosing get info.
It is essential that you do nothing except click "OK" as any change you make would be applied to every track in your library.
Depending on the size of your library iTunes may take a while to complete the task.
It is always advisable to have your library backed up in case you make a mistake.

The problem with accessing the content of the disks is the CD Drive does not seem to access them. It also has a heck of a time ejecting them. Other disks seem to read. The unit came with imovie disks and I can use them. The disks look perfectly good no scratches but they just don't work, I was hoping I could just get a online copy of the address book to replace the one that seems to be missing. Or find it somewhere on my drive. Have no clue where to look though.

I have created a little test swf for my client and I have
encountered a wierd problem because the loading percentage text
field does not seem to function in IE 6 but the same file works
fine when viewed in Firefox and Netscape. When I test the movie
using simulate download in Flash it works well too. Is this a bug
and how can be fixed?

The same thing happens with me.

Bringing up interface eth0: e1000 device eth0 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.

I performed a software reboot on the MSE3310. After the reboot the MSE was no longer visible on the network. I went and consoled into the device and it was operational. I ran the msed stop and msed start commands. I got this message when it tried to load eth0

Earlier in the day I had updgraded the firmware from 6.0 to 7.0.230.0.
Can I recover the eth0? Is this related to the firmware upgrade?

This procedure worked great! After adding the HWADDR parameter to the eth0 config file and rebooting the server, we are now able to access the server on the network again. Thank you very much for the quick reply!
Here is the procedure if others need this.
ifconfig -a showed the eth0 interface was renamed to _tmp462132856

Then issued
vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
to edit the file and add the HWADDR=xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx
Then issued a 'shutdown -r now' to reboot the server
After a reboot, network connectivity was restored!

Weblogic 8.1 JAAS login.configuration.provider from java.security does not seem to work?

We configure a custom implementation of the JAAS
javax.security.auth.login.Configuration class for our applications security
framework in JRE_LIB/security/java.security using the entry
login.configuration.provider=com.foo.SecurityConfiguration
However, this does not seem get picked up and the configuration provider
class instead seems to default to
weblogic.security.service.ServerConfiguration
instead.
Has anyone else seen this?
We're using the JDK bundled with Weblogic 8.1

I think the way Weblogic implemented "support" for JAAS in 8.1 totally
blows. In fact, when I asked BEA support about this, they basically sent me
an email saying that "Weblogic owns the JAAS configuration" so if you have a
security framework that is application server agnostic, but leverages JAAS
then you are screwed when deploying on Weblogic 8.1.
I looked for a workaround and believe that instead of using an entry in
java.security for your custom configuration class, if you set the JVM
parameter
-Dlogin.configuration.provider=com.foo.SecurityConfiguration
then what happens is that the Weblogic custom class
weblogic.security.service.ServerConfiguration is invoked by JAAS. It tries
to load the login module configuration and if that fails, it delegates to
com.foo.SecurityConfiguration. So this should enable both the weblogic
security framework and a custom security framework that are both based on
JAAS

Have you tried to use a startup class to set the configuration providerusing
javax.security.auth.login.setConfiguration(YourConfigClass);
Weblogic probably uses this to set the configuration class to it'sown.
You have to consider whether this is really something you want to do
however. If you want to get WLS to use a custom authenticator use its
SSPIs. You can configure the order etc. in the admin console.
By overriding the configuration you override it for the server as a
whole which can mean for example that you cannot login to the admin
console. Having said this, from memory, I believe that the property is
ignored in WLS. However you can still call
Configuration.setConfiguration if you really want to.
The fact that there is a "global static" in the Configuration class is
a
Bad Thing IMHO, that was never really designed for an app server
environment.

If it is a bad thing to have a static how come Weblogic uses it instead ofthe
standard way of modifying the property in java security file - it isbecause
weblogic wants it's own way of implementing instead of using using the'plugable
module' architecture of JAAS.
When weblogic advertised that it will support JAAS the impression was thatWeblogic
would provide a login module that will implement the security mechanism itwanted
- instead it went it's own way.
Also consider the following
1. JAAS specifies a mechanism for multiple configurations based on a'application'.
This is not possible in the current 'weblogic security mechanism'
2. Weblogic says it supports JAAS but what it does not tell you is that inorder
to use available login modules you have to write a whole bunch of code tosupport
principal validators and authenticators. (I begin to wonder if write oncedeploy
anywhere is not part of Sun's certification process anymore)

My mac is OS X Version 10.4.11 so is quite old.

Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Let us know if that helps or not, or any other problems.

My iPad 1 mail does not always sync completely through iCloud

Background: Over the last week or so I have noticed that my iPad mail does not always sync completely with either mail on my iPhone or iMac. It receives all messages but does not always delete or file them as managed on either on my iMac or iPhone. My iPad and iPhone mail settings are the same and set to "push". My iPhones does not have this issue. All other syncs such as addresses, calendar and photo stream seem to work just fine. Is this due to my iPad mail settings or an Apple iCloud issue?

BT Care – having CARE in your name does not seem to reflect the service I have been given - I have not had a stable broadband since January, despite calling every 2 weeks for 5 months – I am still at a download speed of 262 kbps – and that is a high today (we started the day at 59 kbps)
Here is typical week
2 may 78 kbps
3 may 105 kpbs
4 may 447 kbps
5 may 444 kbps
6 may 423 kbps
9 may 660 kbps
10 may 229 kbps
11 May BT Engineer Visit Line swapped and IP Profile reset 1340 kbps – not great speed but I can live with this
12 may 399 kbps after heavy rain
13 May - Now getting noise on the phone line and today’s low was 59 kbps with a signal to noise ratio of 6db on the router – currently getting 262 kbps
AFTER 5 MONTHS THIS PROBLEM IS STILL NOT RESOLVED – and here again I have spent 2 hours on the phone with BT starting all over again
We have had 3 new routers
22 spans of NEW Cable from the DP to the House (we are at the end of a line)
At least 10 Engineer Visits
A lift and shift at the exchange
Swapped line from the DP to the Exchange with another line
Line engineer booked for MONDAY to fix the new issue of crackle on the line (after it rained) – so BT Broadband can not work on the Broadband issue until the crackle on the line is fixed
AFTER 5 MONTHS - I want someone to call me that will OWN THE PROBLEM UNTIL RESOLUTION - I want a senior manager in the customer care team to OWN THIS ISSUE EVERY DAY - so that I do not need to spend 2 hours on the phone every 2 weeks (it takes 2 weeks to get the next appointment)
All I want is a stable connection of 1MB or above is that too much to ask - please please please can someone please HELP ME

We had BT call from the India Service Centre on Saturday afternoon – “Hello sir, just to let you know the engineers have completed the work at the exchange and everything should be fine now, your internet should be working just fine and the speed should be back up” – They called on my mobile and I was out, so I could not verify what she was saying.
When I got home I ran the Broadband SpeedTest -- NOTHING HAD CHANGED - why did they call me, why did they not run these tests.

Monday morning – indeed we are back to regular service

Looking at the router it has
SYSTEM UP TIME of 3 days and 54 Minutes and a downstream of 256kbps (has not been down since I was asked to reboot the router)
SNR Downstream 11.4d
Line Attenuation 63.5 db (maximum the router will show)
In Summary
5 Months of elapsed time since I reported the speed issues
22 new spans of overhead cable
3 New Routers
New BT Box at the house
Swapped line from the DP to the Exchange
Lift and shift at the exchange
10 Engineers (another due today)
We have broadband running at a download speed of 79kbps
Next house has no broadband
House next to that has similar speeds to us
What can we do to get BT to fix this - any help is very much appreciated - how do we get this escalated instead of starting a new call - is there no escalation procedure internally at BT ??

I have a late 2012 iMac running osx 10.8.5. I keep losing access to my internal hard drive. I can reboot and regain access and it will last for a few minutes or hours. Disk utility does not seems to help.

I have a late 2012 iMac with an I5 precessor running OSX 10.8.5 and a 1tb internal hard drive. I keep losing access to the internal hard drive/startup disk.
I can reboot and everything operates as normal for a few minutes or hours but then I lose all access again to anything on the hard drive. The computer is still up and running but no files can be accessed and certain websites cannot be acessed even though internet access appears to be normal. Disk utility can only find permission errors related to iTunes which can be repaired only to come back at the next scan (I would not think permission errors would have anything to do with the hard drive crashing). It does not seem to matter what program I am using at the time access is lost and it can lose access sometimes right after reboot when no program is running.

You will need to boot into the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during restart and select it) to run Disk Utility/Disk Repair.
