Loading only aac tracks to ipod

I have ongoing issues with many mp3 encoded files being "skipped" when I try to play them back on my ipod. I have discovered that if the offending tracks are converted to aac tracks within itunes, that they will play fine on the ipod. To save some effort, I had itunes convert the entire music library to aac encoding. Now in the itunes application library, I have duplicate songs, one mp3 copy and one aac copy. My question is, now if I load the clean (delete all the content presently on it) ipod will all the songs (aac and mp3 copies) be loaded onto the ipod (duplicates of all songs) or will itunes just load the aac/MPEG4 songs in the itunes library folder (user>my music>itunes>itunes music). I need a way to insure only the aac encoded material is loaded onto the ipod.
Thanks

iTunes will not distinguish between AAC and MP3 tracks when syncing to an iPod, since the iPod can play both. If you want to sync only AAC tracks, you'll either have to create playlists with only your AAC content and sync those, or remove the MP3 versions from iTunes (the easiest way to do the latter is to show the Kind column and sort that that; that will collect all your MP3 tracks so you can easily select them all and delete them).
BTW, for future issues with MP3 tracks not playing correctly, the headers on the problem tracks may be corrupted or nonstandard. This can happen with some MP3 conversion or import utilities, and iTunes and the iPod are very picky about headers. Mp3 Validator Mac version may help.
Regards.

My iTunes library on my PC only displays "A" and some "B' titles (170) of the 3800+ titles which are on my iPod.  Is there any way I can load the songs from the iPod to the PC library?

Sync the music from yur iTujes library on yur coputer to the iPod.
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod.... and follow the instructions.

  • HT1349 how can you track you ipod with only serial number ]

    2nd Generation ipod Touch

    Hello, Tommyty,
I am sorry you have lost your iPod.  You don't yet seem to understand that its serial number is not tracked electronically.  Here is my attempt at explaining the same thing that Limnos and stevejobsfan0123 have already told you.
Tommytj wrote: ... HT1349 how can you track you ipod with only serial number ] ...
Only by physically looking at the iPod's serial number.
Tommytj wrote: i need to find my ipod can anyone help me find a way to track my ipd touch with only a serial number using icloud.
    No.
Nobody can help you with that request because iCloud and  "Find My iPod touch" do not work that way.
If you cannot see the iPod, you cannot track its serial number.  Unless someone sees the serial number, nobody can track it.
Regardless of whether you have properly installed and enabled "Find My iPod touch", iCloud does not track your iPod's serial number.  This is true even when you or someone else can see your iPod's serial number.
Regardless of how much you wish iCloud could track your iPod's serial number, it cannot.
"Find My iPod touch" can sometimes track an iPod's location but only under the specific circumstances Limnos has already explained to you.
If "Find My iPod touch" cannot locate your iPod by its location, there is no iCloud way to find it.  In that case, the only way to identify your missing iPod is for you or someone else to physically look at it.
Perhaps you will be successful with one of these alternative possibilities for recovering your iPod:
      • you can physically search and find your misplaced iPod
      • someone may it returned in response to a reward that you offer
      • the police may find it after you have reported it stolen

  • How to preserve embedded artwork when converting to AAC 128kbps for iPod?

    Hi
I am using the new 'convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps ACC' option in iTunes 9.1.1 (12). All of my artwork is embedded in Apple Lossless files, but on conversion to AAC for the iPod this embedded artwork gets stripped out of the file. Instead I am getting about 12 ithmb files in the iPod_Control/Artwork/ folder totalling about 6GB which probably corresponds to all the embedded artwork for all the tracks, i.e. 20000 tracks x 300KB = 6GB, and an ArtworkDB file, which presumably is for CoverFlow.
Because I use PodWorks to backup my iPod Music to my Mac I would like all of the artwork to stay embedded in the AAC files, so that it gets uploaded to the Mac. Artwork stays embedded when you make an AAC version of an Apple Lossless track in iTunes normally, but not it would seem when transferring to the iPod. And if this new method of encoding on the fly to the iPod can't preserve embedded artwork then it makes little sense to clog up the iPod with 6GB of artwork!
I am wondering if there is any setting I am missing to get this working, or if this is something Apple still need to get around to sorting,
    Thanks
    Nick

    Please!!
    I'm not silly...
As I said, selecting View actual size shows the image with sometimes drastically impaired quality (regardless of the window size).
I also said I have preferences set to view at 100%
It now seems as if this is only happening with scans I've made here.
Images downloaded from the internet are converting indentically, no problem. But my scans are being resized when converting.
I wonder if anyone with a bit of technical know-how can give me some clues as to why this is happening. It would seem to be something to do with the file itself.
(There was another post on here with the same problem but for some reason its been 'archived' though the last posting was this month and the query was not answered. So I've posted the question again.)

  • How can I link to only one track on an album in the iTunes store?

I'm trying to link to a song and keep it seperate from the rest of the content on the album.  The link generator is giving me a link to the song but it still brings up the rest of the album too.  Is there anyway to isolate and link to only one track?  Thanks!

Experience (of iPods) tells me that the 160GB Classic and the 120GB Classic are from the same "family" and should therefore behave the same way. (The nano is a different family and the Touch another family yet again.)
So, since my 160GB Classic can play one episode at time, your 120GB Classic should too. To achieve this, turn on *shuffle songs/albums.* No, I'm not joking!
With shuffle on the Podcasts will play one episode at time when you select an episode from the episode list. Be sure to turn on the shuffle from "within a song" or from the ettings menu. If you have shuffle displayed on the main menu and use that to start shuffling songs, it doesn't affect Podcasts. You will know it's set correctly because the display will show 1 of 1 instead of 1 of "X".

  • Matched AAC files from iPod no longer match in itunes

I have several songs that were previously "matched" using the iTunes Match service.  I had imported the songs in the "matched" status to my iPod.
A few months ago, I accidently wiped my iCloud/iTunes Match account clean.  I recently began the process of reimporting my iPod music into the iTunes Match service.  Because many of the songs on my iPod were previously "matched", and are still listed as - Kind: Match AAC within my iPod, I don't understand why iTunes felt the need to upload them.  Currently within iTunes they are listed as, Uploaded.
Why can't iTunes re-match my music?  The tracks are very common Top 40 hits are are all currently available in the iTunes Store.

The iTunes Match process is inexact, it is simply not recgnising the Songs as close enough to those it already has.  Sometimes it is worth a trial by burning a few of the Songs to audio CD, then import at 256 kbit AAC.

  • Why can't iTunes track your ipod's serial number when it is synced to iTunes?

I was wondering Why, if your iPod is stolen, iTunes cannot track your ipod's serial number when it is synced to iTunes.. I've had my iPod touch almost a year now and it is registered in my name and everything. This past weekend someone somehow got into my car while at a concert and stole my purse, my ipod, my friend's ipod and wallet.  I didn't think to file a police report because I figuered there would be nothing they can do. Since, a lot of people buy and sell iPods all of the time from one another instead of from a store.  I thought to let it go, but it keeps haunting me, someone has access to a lot of my person information. This hit me when at work, I was using Pandora internet radio, and someone deleted all of my radio stations and added their own. They are still using it till this day and I have no clue what to do, I've changed my password to Pandora even.  I know it's being used via my iPod from my Pandora app, I regreat not downloading the new ios5 on my iPod... So, I really have no further idea of what to do. I contacted Pandora in hopes they could change my account password or delete it or something, I just hope they haven't used any thing else important. I really wish it were possible for iTunes to track an iPods Serial number when the iPod is either synced to iTunes / iTunes store.. If it were possible, I wish they could help me out and at least lock my prior iPod or hopefully delete everything from that.. I don't have much hope in this though :/

Thanks for the suggestions... tried tehm but no luck so I've taken it back. I think I'll try a Samsung (only other ones I've found with a Sleep Function) and move to Audible instead of iTunes. A shame after years of iTunes use but I shouldn't have to spend days getting a product to work. Thanks again.

Only the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

  • Possible to load from mp3cd DIRECT to ipod, w/out importing

I have a few backup DVD's i made of my music, and i want to load some music onto an iPod I'm borrowing for the weekend. can I load the songs direct from the DVD's without importing them first? my biggest concern is that my library is on an external firewire only drive, and my ibook has only one firewire port (necessary for connecting the ipod...).
also, is there anything I need to do to make sure I don't automatically erase or import music that's already on the ipod? i don't have it yet, and when i go to the prefs panel for ipod, it says "no ipod connected" and I really don't want to erase the owners music.
    thanks!

As far as I know, all songs have to be imported to iTunes before they can be updated on an iPod. iPod's work directly with iTunes and with nothing else (as far as I'm aware) I don't think there is a way to just update songs on an iPod without the songs being in iTunes first.

  • Mono track locks iPod issue gotten worse?

So I've followed the long-running "mono track locks iPod" problem...you know, the one where a mono track (I think AAC, but I can't remember) is paused, the iPod turns off, and won't turn back on without a reset. Well, I just had it happen...while either at the very end or very beginning of a track that I ripped myself into 192 stereo AAC. I'm not sure of exactly where I paused it; I wasn't looking. I suppose this could be a random occurrence, but has anyone else had this happen when the track wasn't Mono?
General specs: iPod Photo 60; Firmware 1.2 (the one with the busted smart playlists). The tracks in question (if they matter) were tracks 4 and 5 of American Idiot ("Boulevard of Broken Dreams" and "Are We the Waiting"). Any ideas? I tried to recreate it, but no-go.

I am having the same problem. It doesn't matter what podcast I am in. I usuall play a game (Sudoku - downloaded from itunes) while listening and the two of them running at the same time is impossible now. When I am holding it, it also seems as if I am feeling (and I do hear) the HD spinning. I am wondering if there is a bad spot in it. Can you reformat the HD in the ipod? I've done everything else the site suggests!

  • Can I load adobe reader to my ipod

I would like to load adobe reader onto my ipod so I can read manuals in .pdf format. If I can't use reader, what is the alternative reader app?

If you have an ipod touch, then you should post in the ipod touch forum.
The ipod touch can read .pdf files.
The only apps you can download on an ipod touch are from the app store.
If you don't have an ipod touch, then I don't think you can do this at all.

  • How can I make itunes play not only marked tracks?

    Hi,
I've set marks on many tracks in my itunes media storage so I can syncronize them wth an ipod nano 16gb.
But the problem is only with itunes on my windows 7 x64 computer.
I want itunes to play randomly all of my tracks, not only choosen to syncronize with ipod!
But it plays only choosen tracks. I don't want to mark or dismark all tracks, because it will ruin the syncronization with ipod )))
Is there some properties in itunes to solve this? thx in advance

iTunes selects the tracks to play based on the checkmarks. If you want to use all of the music to listen to, you need to have it checked. If you want to only sync selected music with the iPod, you can create a playlist with the music you want, and then as you desire a change, add or subtract to the playlist. That way, it does not interfere  with your random play in iTunes, and still allows you to modify your song list on the iPod.
