Loading PhotoShop 7.0 on a new workstation

Hello -
We are putting new workstations in place.  I have a CD for PhotoShop 7.0.1, but apparently it is just the upgrade and not the 'real' version.  What can I do?  Another post said to contact customer support, but I did that only to hear that they limit their phone support to the last two versions of software.  Any way to get this loaded on a new computer?  BTW, the old computer is still here -- won't be out of commission until I can get this software loaded.
Thanks!

You could just copy over the installed PS7 folder. It will ask for the serial on the new system and after having it input, should run. Of course this doesn't establish al lthe file associations and updates may not be possible due to the proper installer info not being in place...

I am trying to load my own copy of Photoshop Elements 9 to a new laptop but am being told that the serial numvber is not valid (it's definitely the correct serial number). Any suggestions?

I would suggest you contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. Normally you can start an on-line chat and get the problem resolved right away.

I'm trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS3 on a new ASUS ASM11BB001O computer equipped with 64-bit Windows 7.  I use a "bundle" approach, first loading Photoshop 6, then upgrading with CS upgrade and then CS3 upgrade.  The installation goes smoothly until I add PS CS, and then it balks at the "accept" Adobe conditions screen.  I have two other (Gateway) computers with Windows 7, 64-bit, on both of which the PS-6, CS-CS3 pathway worked fine.  Any thoughts on how to get this working?  Thanks

If your goal is to install and activate CS5 there is no need to install anything preceding it.  You will only need to have the serial number from the preceding version that you upgrade from (CS3 I guess).

After 6 tries to load Photoshop CS6 on my new laptop, I keep getting the following message after I enter my valid serial number: "Serial number you provided is valid but a qualifying product could not be found on this computer."  What I'm, trying to do is download the qualifying product which I purchased just a year ago?  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I contacted Adobe support Chat and they confirmed the serial number and gave me a response code number to enter. Once that was entered the product downloaded immediately. The whole process took 10 minutes.  Thank you for your response. I'm all good now.

I just updated my mac from Tiger to Mountain Lion.  wiped the computer clean and started fresh Loaded Photoshop elements 11 (brand new in the box) and when I try to start it - it comes up saying - Licensing for the product has stopped working contact for help. in Looking for help I was directed here. what do I do?

I don't know enough to not follow directions. I bought the software brand new in a sealed from factory box. Had it sitting around until - last week when I deleted flash on my computer and had to upgrade to the new OSX. Mountain Lion doesn't use iPhoto - so I had to go with something else. Since I already had this new - unopened package  I opened it up. Shut down all running programs - inserted the disk and followed all the directions for installation.  Still it didn't work.
I have now uninstalled it (the proper way) and am going to try again.
    I appreciate your responses.
    Thank you!
If this doesn't work - I am going to just buy Lightroom.

you should deactivate (help>deactivate) that installation on the old workstation.  then download and install on your new work station using your serial number.  (ie, make sure you can find your serial number - if you need help with this, let us know.)

  • New Workstation - System and Storage Critique Please

Hi. I'm finalizing a new workstation config and would appreciate your advice.   Since I'm not a photo/video pro, this workstation will be used for multiple purposes:
Video Editing (CS3 now; CS5 when released)
Photo Editing (CS3 now; CS5 when released)
    Sotftware Development
Stock data processing (custom app, processing daily data)
Office and Personal Apps (Email, web browsing, personal finance)
Below is my system config.   I'd appreciate any feedback that you have on the config, especially the disk config with an eye towards getting decent performance for editing AVCHD (w/Premiere) and still images (w/PhotoShop).
To limit upfront expenses, I'm thinking software RAID 0 instead of hardware RAID.   A nightly (or more often) file backup would copy files to a Backup Drive.   A weekly backup would copy files over our network to a small server.   As projects becames stale, they would be copied to a removable archive disk (currently 500Gb).
    Some specific questions:
I understand that Hardware RAID is better than software RAID.   If I start with a software RAID now, will there be any issues with upgrading to a Hardware RAID (like an Areca ARC-1210)?
As you can see below, I'm thinking of moving the Paging File to a separate disk.  I'm thinking of a 150Gb Raptor or maybe an older 80Gb disk that I have laying around.   Does this disk have to be fast?
I've seen several comments about buying WD RE4 (WE2003FYYS) disks are better for RAID that WD Caviar Black.   Are the RE4 cost effective for amateur use?
    Thanks,
    Dan.

My suggestion is use another older computer for your non-video and non-photo apps.  That way you can minimize the processes on the video/photo machine and obtain maximum performance.on it and have maximum security and safety on your Internet/business machine.  If you want a common keyboard, mouse and video display get a KVM switch like I am using.  One of the biggest problems I see in analyzing the PPBM4 results that I get regularly is way to many processes/services running on machines people are trying to use as editing machines.

  • Need help moving photoshop 7.0.1 to new computer

I hope everyone is doing well. I also hope someone can help me out. I need to move/load Photoshop 7.0.1 onto a different computer - o/s Windows XP Professional v.2002. We are a small company with no IT department and the original CDs and product keys/proof of purchase are lonnnnnnnnng gone. Upgrading is not an option at this time, the powers that be will most likely tell me to do my photoshop work on the laptop, but I want everything at my fingertips at my desk. Too much to ask? Apparently it is because I cannot figure out how to load onto my desktop.
I've read, in several places, that Adobe allows the user to download the software to two computers, but I don't know if its ever been loaded elsewhere and when I moved the file from my laptop to our rustic server - didn't work. Then I tried copying everything to a memory stick and moving it to my new computer BUT there is no .exe file when I do this. I can't make it run. And never did I receive an messages that scream - hey you, you can't load this on more than two computers.
I called Adobe and they informed me that they no longer support this version over the phone and that I should check out the forums. Unfortunately, I cannot find the info I need on the forum. Perhaps I'm using the wrong terminology in my search - I have tried several variations...loading, moving, reinstalling....and come up empty. Actually, come up with lots of stuff (from years ago) that doesn't help. In one post I thought could be the holy grail, there was a link that bottomed out - took me nowhere.
I don't what else to do, I don't know what the google anymore. I'm hopeful someone has an answer other than an upgrade. Thanks.

Note that I am assuming you're properly licensed to be able to run the app on your new computer.  I do not propose doing anything illegal.
With the ollld versions of Photoshop, like the one you have, you can try going through a process like this:
    1.  Copy the entire c:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0 folder to the new computer.
    2.  Try to run Photoshop on the new computer.
    3.  Note any "missing DLL" message.
    4.  Locate the DLL on the old computer (e.g., in C:\Windows\System32 or wherever), and copy it to the same place on the new computer.
    5.  Repeat steps 2 through 4 until no more "missing DLL" messages present themselves.
There may be other types of messages you'll see.  They're usually descriptive enough to be able to determine what it's looking for that it does not have.  If you get one you're unsure of how to handle, post it here.

How do I reinstall adobe photoshop v7.0 on my new computer with my serial #?

I have been working with P/S 7.0 for a long time. M y DELL desktop crashed
and I lost everything in my working projects. I want to load the program
onto my  laptop (enough space) but all I can find is my serial number. I don't
know if I  EVER had a program disc. Can I find the download and use my old
serial # to  access it? I really don't want to buy again and I don't know
    what would have  equal capabilities.

  • Problems Reading Photoshop 4.0 Disc On Modern Workstation

I just got a new workstation and have set it up in desktop orientation.
I've just been trying to read my old Photoshop 4.0 installation CD on my blu-ray drive...
Somehow the problem seems mechanical, since this new fangled drive doesn't even seem to want to spin it up, but I can't quite figure it out.
    Happy April 1st!

    I don't even use 12 F keys!
Keep the coffee out of it then. Unless it's replaceable.
130wpm? What a slow poke. At the piano, I can easily make a run which is equivalent to 240wpm.  Faster if I ignore the missed notes, which most will never hear.
Somewhere I read that reaching mastery requires about 10,000hrs of practice. At 5hrs a day continuous, that amounts to about 5.5 years of steady practice, so I believe your achievement.
The same problem I have at the piano is the same at a typewriter keyboard...accuracy of finger placement. I tend to hit between the keys far more than I would like. Not to mention I am no longer exclusively hunt and peck but I still don't use all my fingers typing. At the piano, I have no choice. But then, typing never requires crossed hands on the keyboard!

The "restore disk" is built into the Mac. See About Recovery.
Need more specifics about what error messages you got while installing Adobe Flash.
However, you can almost avoid Flash altogether by setting YouTube to play the HTML5 version instead.
Click the Try something new! link at the bottom of the YouTube page.
I don't know about the sound issue. Might be hardware as you think. Try other headphones to check.

how can i make my photoshop 4 work on a new computer with windows 7 ?

    Hello!
Could you tell us if you are talking about Photoshop 4.0 that was released in 1996, or Photoshop CS4 (PS 11), or Photoshop elements 4?
Older version might not work if your C: drive is bigger than 1TeraByte.
