Loading profile using -profile "path" in most recent WIN32 Nightly build.

I was accustomed to loading a specified path to a folder containing a user profile, which worked for me previously from a shortcut that points to the executables path and '-profile "path to folder" ' . . I am looking to reinstate the browsers capacity to load said profile, as I rather liked that feature. Thank you for your help and continued patience.

  • Progressive Profiling - Lead Source Most Recent Hidden Field - Query String

I've just finished setting up my first progressive profile form and landing page. Caveat: I have not tested it out yet. On my other forms, I'm using a query string to capture lead source most recent as a hidden field. Is it also possible, using the same javascript, to capture that information on the form? I have added the source field to each of my three rule sets - but have no idea if it will work.
Does anyone have any experience in using hidden fields with a query string and javascript in progressive profiling? Wow, that's a mouthful, and I can't even believe I know enough to be able to ask that question.
thank you in advance for any guidance!

    Hi Leah,
Great news! Nothing better than solving an Eloqua issue on a Monday!
When you're using the cloud connector the HTML form name in the page code is "CCPPForm" instead of the HTML form name you used in the original form. If you take a look at the code of the page you're working on you'll see a div that includes your form. It should say "id="CCPPForm" name="CCPPForm"  in the form tag. Your instance might use something different, but I found using the progressive profile HTML name instead of my form HTML name did the trick. Also just double check to make sure your hidden field is showing for every rule in your progressive profile form rule settings.
If this isn't making sense I'll grab some screen shots for you!

  • POP email loading Old Messages, and not most recent messages: (not Gmail)

    Hi,
I'm having an issue where my iPhone is loading old emails instead of the most recent ones on the server. I see the messages download in outlook (leave message on server). But my iPhone will download the most recent message for awhiel and it will stop.
I have it set to display 25 messages. It used to always download the most recent messages and push the old messages out. (i'd have to hit download 25 more to see more). But now it no longer does this. Also, when i delete a few messages, it downloads some messages, but not the most recent ones. Also tried completely deleteing the account and starting over. But after it fills up, the same thing happens. It worked fine for a few weeks, then it started having this problem.
I've tried deleting all email, but eventually it fills up and then starts doing the same thing.
Thoughts and help would be appreciated.

Those messages which iphone can't get are Junk mails..
    First remove the account,
Go to Setting/mail and choose "show 50 or more recent messages".
    Add your account again.
    go back to mail settings
choose your account at the top of add account...
    go to advanced
    below the deleted messages
    remove... choose "after one day"
under the incoming setting, delete from server choose "7 days" (which is quite enough time to keep)..
Thats all.. Fixed on my phone..
This phone is not your real mailbox. Use it to check only or respond After that delete them...
Don't keep your mails in it. Use Mail, Entourage or Outlook etc..
    Peace..

  • How do I use long path names ("\\?\UNC\...") with Server 2008 roaming profiles?

    Hey folks!
    I administrate a Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 Domain with about 40 users on
Windows 7 SP1 clients. Because the users often switch between the many PCs, I am using Roaming Profiles which tend to produce errors with different application-specific paths and files inside the users profiles.
As one of many example, our standard mail application Thunderbird produces paths and files according to folders/subfolders and mails in a user's mailbox. Another one is Microsoft Office's Auto Recovery files which reside in a user's profile and can
    get very long.
These paths and filenames often extend the allowed max. path of about 256 characters, when (on log on or off) the synchronization process between the client and the server takes place, leading to errors in the event log and a notification to the user about
    the conflict:
"Event ID 1509 - Windows cannot copy file \\server\share\users\user123.v2\AppData\Roaming\looooong to location C:\Users\user123\AppData\Roaming\looooong. DETAIL - The filename or extension is too long."
In the long run this leads to different file versions on different clients which - in the case of Thunderbird - leads to missing mails.
After extensive searches and lectures of forums - including this - I haven't found a solution for this problem.
So my question is if there's a way to use the extended max path with roaming profiles and if so how do I get it to work?
I tried changing the profile path of a test user in the Active Directory user preferences from "\\server\share\profiles\test_user" to something like "\\?\UNC\server\share\profiles\test_user" without any changes in the system's behavior.
Also I think that because this is such a fundamental problem somebody must have come up with a solution for it...
    Thanks in advance,
    Nico

    Hi,
    Thanks for your posting.
The Event 1509 can happen if the destination path of the users profile is on a server with a long name and share folder name. For detail information, please refer to:

  • Using custom environment variables in the profile path

    Hi,
I've created a custom environment variable that I've setup on two computers and the domain controllers.  I want to use this in the profile path in user properties.  However when users log in the variable is taken literally rather than being converted
    into the value.  For example
\\fileserver\share\user\%myenv%.v2 is generated rather than \\fileserver\share\user\envdata.v2
If I add in another built-in variable such as %OS%, that converts properly but any time I use a custom variable Windows just doesn't use it during the logon process.  If I open up Explorer and type in the path to my data as it should be it works fine
so Windows is definitely picking up the variable, just not using during the logon process.  I can't seem to find a TechNet article that states custom variables can't be used in profile paths.
Has anyone else come across this?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi,
    Thanks for your post.
So did you create the environment variable using group policy? If yes, i would suggest you use 'Create' and not 'Update', the variable is then held through reboots.
Please refer to this blog, hope it will be helpful

Keep getting a pop up at the top of many websites I visit 'firefox security error content at *web address* may not load" I am using the most recent firefox and windows 7. This is happening at many sites, such as hotmail, google reader, and many others.

Sorry, I don't think that is a message from inside Firefox, the wording doesn't sound correct - at least the beginning of that message. My "gut" thinks that is a MSN Live message to explain and compensate for their lack of security with a re-direct from a secure domain to an un-secure domain. ''(the end of that message)''
{Ctrl + Shft + J} will open the Firefox Error Console - I'm curious what Firefox has to say about that situation. If you find the error message for that domain, you can right-click the message to '''copy''' it and then paste that error message here.
Maybe '''TonyE''' or '''cor-el''' will be more familiar with the situation at Live and maybe at Google Reader, I don't use either of those services and have never seen a message like that myself.

Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

  • Suddenly getting UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database

Starting yesterday (I believe) we are suddenly receiving a "User not found" error when trying to view a user's profile page when clicking on their name (in search or elsewhere) via the url
    https://www.contoso.org/Person.aspx?accountname=contoso%255Cmyuserlogin
This is happening for all users. (but profiles exist and seem ok, and sync with AD is running fine) When looking in the logs I see the error  (full ULS log is later below)
Exception in LoadRequestedUserProfile: (Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfiles.UserNotFoundException: User Not Found: Could not load profile data from the database.
The only clue of what MAY be going on is just before that I see the following two lines which came up after I changed the Database logging to Verbose:
    ConnectionString: 'Data Source=INSTANCE;Initial Catalog=UPAPROFILEDB;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=0;Max Pool Size=100;Connect Timeout=15;Application Name=SharePoint[w3wp][3][UPAPROFILEDB]'    Partition:
    NULL ConnectionState: Closed ConnectionTimeout: 15
    SQL connection time: 0.0456 for Data Source=INSTANCE;Initial Catalog=UPAPROFILEDB;Integrated Security=True;Enlist=False;Pooling=True;Min Pool Size=0;Max Pool Size=100;Connect Timeout=15;Application Name=SharePoint[w3wp][3][HNet3_Svc_Prod_UPA_Profile]
If I am reading that correctly, does it mean the connection to the database is timing out instantly? I am able to use powershell to pull up profiles and print them to the screen while on the webservers. And it's only the one specific page that is not
    working.
What sort of tests or further debugging can I do for the error above?
We are on premise, SharePoint 2013 sp1, sql2012, server 2012, claims using the full SharePoint Profiile Sychronization against AD.  Farm has been running since last august. Last week the admin team did run windows update on all servers, I can't be sure
if it was broken for 5 days and no one noticed or if it broke yesterday.
    I already did the following:
Verified the profiles do exist in central admin.
I can still access their personal sites directly via
    https://www.contoso.org/personal/myuserlogin
I checked the ProfileDB database and made sure the service accounts for the UPA has dbowner, so does the farm account, and the web application pool has SPDataAccess.
Verified the AD sync account has proper rights in AD.
I reran a full synchronization which ran with no errors.
File systems on the webservers and appserver have plenty of free space.
    Rebooted every server in farm
I even checked the bin directory of the mysite webapplication, (since once I had a weird problem where access to bin was removed.) WSS_ADMIN_WPG, WSS_RESTRICTED_WPG_W4 have full control and WSS_WPG,IIS_IUSRS all have read and execute.
I opened powershell on the webserver I can indeed load profiles and print their values.

  • Outlook 2010 Hangs at Loading Profile

We just updated our network with all Server 2008 R2 servers, Exchange 2010, and Office 2010 Pro. We have isntalled Office 2010 on all machines and all has been working fine for the last 2 weeks. Over the last 3 days, we now are having some problems with
when Outlook is launched, it hangs on "Loading Profile" and does not go any further. I have tried killing the "Agent" process that this creates as suggested in other forums. I have run repairs, and un-install/re-installs which seems to temporaily fix the problem.
Most the clients are up-to-date with the Office updates. I have also un-installed SP1 on a couple machines which again works for a bit then the next time the user restarts the computer Outlook hangs again.
This is getting extremely frustrating as I have another thread with some other Office problems. Thanks for the help in advance.

I had the same problem.  I tried all the posted solutions without success...new profile, reinstall, reset nav pane, safe mode, killing processes, stopping add-ons, etc.  I found the same solutions repeated ad nauseum on website after website.
Finally after much experimentation I found this solution.
    1.  Export the registry key containing your profiles at HKCU>Software>Microsoft>WindowsNT>CurrentVersion>Windows Messaging Subsystem>Profiles.  This is just a precautionary measure.
    2.  Stop all optional start-up programs from running on boot.
    3.  Kill and uninstall all search programs, such as Google desktop and Copernic.
    4.  Delete the registry key above.
    5.  Create a new profile using the Control Panel>Mail tool.  Include an email address.  I had to do this twice before it would save the new profile...it only works if there are no profiles in the registry.
    6.  Start Outlook in safe mode.
    7.  Manually move your old messages from the old pst file(s) to the new one.  I had 1.5 gigs of mail to move, so it took a while.
    8.  With your messages backed up, delete the old pst file(s).  Move any other old pst files out of the Outlook files folder.  Don't ask me why this worked, but it made the difference.
    9.  Start Outlook with the new profile.  At this point, Outlook started very quickly and without problems.  I hope it works for you.
    10.  Update the programs with the relevant add-ons.  iTunes, McAfee, Sugar Sync, etc. all had add-ons in the Outlook start-up list.  My Sugar Sync add-on was causing problems.
    11.  With Outlook running, reinstall your search program if you had one, using the latest update.  For me it was Copernic that was the problem.  It was set to index Outlook messages, but it was corrupted and had to be reinstalled.
    11.  Use msconfig to selectively reboot.  I did this several times to make sure that no other programs were conflicting with Outlook.  It took forever, and the results were negative, but it seems prudent.
This solution took me many boring and frustrating hours to work out.  In the end, it was an outside program that was the problem.  I hope this helps you.

  • Outlook 2013 hangs at "Loading Profile"

I have been using various versions of Exchange and Outlook over the past 10 - 15 years. Until recently I have been using POP3 and SMTP as incoming and outgoing servers through my ISP and have had little or no problems configuring both. I obtained a new domain
and added an email address, all worked fine with POP3 and SMTP. I have 3 devices on which I can receive mail, a laptop, a smart phone and a small notepad. When I set up the mail client on the two mobile devices I set them so they would leave mail
on the server utilizing POP3/SMTP. While the mobile devices left mail on the server, the laptop configuration was set to pull mail from the server, which, again, worked just fine for me.
Then one of my computer friends suggested I try IMAP for my new account as I have 3 devices, and can receive mail on any one of the three and he says they would sync with each other. I was a bit nervous but though what the heck, what's the worst that could
happen. Using the settings provided by my ISP I set up IMAP on my laptop. I verified the settings, checked the other email addresses and downloaded any and all mail. The server gave me what I asked for. I reviewed the mail, sorted it, and deleted the junk
mail. OK, time to exit Outlook and restart the application..... Disaster struck!
When I open Outlook it hangs on the "Loading Profile" screen. I've tried to open it in Safe Mode and the same thing happens. I have uninstalled the entire office suite, ran a defrag utility and reinstalled Office, the same result happens, hangs
at the "Loading Profile", I am unable to get into Outlook at all to change any of the settings or return to POP3/SMTP and resolve this issue.
Until I set up IMAP as the client for my new domain everything worked. utilizing POP3/SMTP. However, now that I setup IMAP I am unable to receive or send/reply to mail on the laptop
using any of my email accounts other that ones unassociated with Outlook.
I am able to receive mail on both the smart phone and notepad but, I don't have access to my address book and can't send new email.
With all of the above in mind, how do I get into Outlook and reset all of the accounts so they once again work properly? Is there a related file or dll that maintains
the user profile that can be deleted without putting all of Outlook in jeopardy?
    Thank You
    Jim

    Hi Jim,
Do you have Microsoft Lync installed? If so, please check your Task Manager and end the Microsoft Lync process task, then try starting Outlook to check the result.
If above doesn't help, please try to disable hardware acceleration via registry to check the result:
    1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command, type
regedit and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.
    2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common
    3. Create a new Key and name it "Graphics"
    4. Select Graphics, right-click on the right panel and create a New
DWORD (32-bit) Value and name it DisableHardwareAcceleration.
    5. Enter Value data as 1.
In addition, can you create a new mail profile in Control Panel and then reconfigure your email account from scratch? See:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/create-an-outlook-profile-HA102749460.aspx
Please let me know the result.

  • Bizzare Problem Loading Profiles

We've been successfully using photoshop for many years now and have never seen such a bizarre issue. We are trying to load our own profile. We have created the profile with an "eye-one spectrometer". We are loading the profile and placing it correctly in the folder that we always have in the past; We have a Mac so it's loading in "Macintosh HD/Library/Colorsync/Profiles". We put the profile in there no problem, and it shows up and seemingly reads just fine. My finder on my Mac can see it, I can see it if I go into the folder and view it, and our eye-one spectrometer recognizes it. Now, when I go into Photoshop and go "Photoshop Manage Colors" in the "color handling" tab I get the  "Printer Profile" tab.
Now here's the problem: My profile is simply not there. There's a million other profiles from other times that we've loaded profile. There's even a profile that I loaded 5 hours ago, but it will not show any profiles that we try and put in it since then. We have restarted photoshop and the computer a bunch of times, we have renamed the profile, we've tried putting in different profiles, and photoshop will simply not recognize anything that we put in there since the last one we loaded 5 hours ago.
What gives?! Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated!

    PrintMagic wrote:
…hate to ask another question but now it's not reading my profile!!!!! I can find it and it selects it and everything is fine but it just won't print as if it's using the profile…
Verifying a profile remotely is next to impossible.  We would have to have the same printer and paper available, and I don't.
My next step would be to check out the profile with the ColorSync Utility's Profile First Aid function.
I've never heard of a profile being OS dependant; but then, I'm still using Tiger 10.4.11 and have stayed away from the Leopards.
What I'd be more inclined to suspect is some setting somewhere along your color management workflow path.

  • Terminal Server profiles path between Server 2008

My existing Citrix farm has published desktops on Server 2008 x86 SP1, and the new farm I'm building is based on Server 2008 R2 x64. I can't get the x64 servers to use the same path as the x86 servers, despite having the same GPO's.
Both have the same GPO linked: under Computer Configuration/Policies/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/Remote Desktop Session Host/Profiles, the path is set to \\server\share\%username%.
When a user who doesn't have a profile logs in to a Server 2008 x86 server, after they log out their profile is uploaded to the share as \\server\share\username.V2. When a user logs into Server 2008 R2, it doesn't pull their username.V2 profile and instead
creates a new one as \\server\share\username\username.domain.V2.
Please help me get the x64 R2 servers to use the existing TS profiles.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Set up RD Session Host roaming profile path
Roaming profiles should be configured separately for each RD session farm. They should not be shared between farms or user’s physical desktops since profile corruption and data loss may occur if a user is simultaneously logged into two machines that load the
    same user profile.
Configure the following Group Policy on the RD Session Host:
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Remote Desktop Services -> Remote Desktop Session Host -> Profiles ->
Set path for Remote Desktop Services Roaming Profiles

  • AD User Account Ignores Profile Path.

    Hello All,
I have a very odd situation occurring with one user, Lets call this user Bob Bobbington.
Now Bob Bobbington has been using their account on site for a number of months now with no issue. I the sys admin prepped them a new laptop this week and got them all setup.
All was well when the user took the Laptop home that evening and until that point their Roaming Profile was spot on.
The next day they advise when they logged on there was no IE icon, Items would not open etc so I thought MAYBE this did not finish syncing the profile. I logged on with Bob's details on site and I appeared to have the same issue and on any other PC I try
    things are not working.
Now on this users Desktop in their office things were fine (Bar the Start Menu). - I shall expand on this in a moment.
Endless attempts deleting the user profile from multiple PC's / VM's etc while testing and I am no further forward.
I have looked at the user in AD and can confirm the following
    User Profile: Profile Path \\SERVERNAME\Roaming$\bob.bobbington
    Home Folder (H:) \\SERVERNAME\homedrives$\bob.bobbington
All PC's and the original desktop that have this issue have an interesting issue (Start Menu) which is also on the users main usual PC too.
After some investigation its attempting to goto \\SERVERNAME\USERS\ for the Start Menu and showing a whole load of old profiles (This is redundant from a Server Migration months and months ago) so on all these it shows this epic list of folders in the users
All Programs section of the start menu (This should not be occurring as NO WHERE in AD for this users profile should it be touching this).
It is probably worth reminding you all this worked FINE until 2 days ago and there have been no changes (I am the only IT guy on site) We only had ONE DC (2008 R2) running all the AD stuff. Old Server is no longer present so no chance this could be the case
an no Read Only DC either. We have only another 2008 R2 server running Exchange 2010.
I do not want to delete the account nor mess with having to move the mailbox to another user account I would like to get to the bottom of this issue.
I have also checked GPO's and got a full GPO report and nothing here setting this path. I am at a loss as far as I can make out there is NO logical reason or setting that should be causing this issue.
Any input or advise would be greatly appreciated.
    Mike.

    Hi Mike,
Please try to create a new user and set the roaming profile on this user, and check if it will produce the same issue.
And you can also filter the Event log with the warning or error and the produce time.
To troubleshoot the roaming profile issue, please also check this article:

  • Outlook Hangs - Loading Profile / Add Account Stage - Office 365 on Windows 8.1

I have been using outlook via the Office 365 offering for a year. Then 2 days back suddenly my outlook stopped downloading mails from my mail server. It did however send mails.
I went online to check the various causes and after following lots of advice I did all of the below actions:
    1. Making sure the OS and Outlook 2013 are installed with the latest updates.
    2. Performing a clean boot and trying to open outlook and add account in that mode
    (it stops responding)
    3. Deleting OST file
    4. Deleting profile
    5. Running outlook in safe mode (pressing Ctrl while starting up outlook) and trying to add account
    (it stops responding)
    6. Completely uninstalled office 365 with the fixit tool and then reinstalled
I ended up with Outlook not loading at all. None of the above steps have worked.
If I directly start outlook, it hangs on loading profile.
I have opened control panel, searched for "mail", opened that and deleted profile, then created new profile. After that when I try adding account, it hangs (stops responding) at that adding account stage as well.
This has started suddenly, till 3 days back everything was absolutely fine.
In another forum post, opening Outlook in safe mode was marked as answer. As stated above it has not worked for me.

    Hi,
Definitely this seems to be an issue when loading the profile, I've seen many people resolved this problem by disabling hardware acceleration in Office.
Since it's a global setting, you can disable it in Word, Excel, then it will also apply to Outlook.
For example in Word, go to FILE -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Check "Disable hardware graphics acceleration" -> OK.
We can also configure this through GPO or registry, more details can be found in this article:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cc26ac52-5c94-468e-ac34-35c9dcc5b422/hardware-graphics-acceleration?forum=outlook

  • Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services - user profile path not working

Trying to setup remote desktop profiles. We have 1 farm with 2 Windows 2008R2 RD session hosts and a broker server and want the all of the remote user  profiles to reside on a dedicated profile server. We've created the user shares but when a remote
user logs in their user profiles is automatically created on the session hosts. Each remote users profile path is specified in AD under the user's Remote Desktop Profile tab.
I've seen posts about creating a GPO to handle roaming profiles but I'm not sure as to where this needs to be created...should it be done on each of the session hosts? Are their any step by step instructions out there on how to achieve this that I just haven't
    found yet?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Do you have RD Gateway setup in your environment?
Have you configure RD Connection Broker and set the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the RD Connection Broker server in case of RD Connection Broker mode. In RD Session mode, it is set to the FQDN of the RD Web Access server.
Client operating systems must trust the certificate with which the RemoteApp programs are signed. Suggest to install RDP 8.1 for client OS.
Do you have a trusted certificate with a matching name configured on your RDSH server in RD Session Host Configuration? (Means cert must match the name that clients use to connect to it for running the RemoteApp).
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.
