Loading QT problem?

When I bought my Mac i updated with Snow Leopard. Could not open QT by clicking so tried downloading QT program. Every time i get to the point of deciding where to store program it tells me I can't because it already exists. Getting frustrated, what can I do?

Easy, John. No one here gets paid for helping - we're all just fellow users - so posting multiple times demanding help is impolite and not going to cause anyone to want to respond to you. I know it's frustrating, but have a bit of patience and people will probably respond when they have a chance. I might point out that instructions for reinstalling QuickTime Player X has been posted here several times already, so a search would have gotten you your answer already.
Anyway, see this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2277765&tstart=25
That should take care of you. Your other option is a reinstall of Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
And please, in future posts, to avoid confusion make sure you call it "Snow Leopard" (or 10.6) not "Leopard". The two versions of Mac OS X are very different and call for different solutions in many cases.

• Creative Zen loading music problem

"Creative Zen loading music problem?I just started using a creative zen (DVP-FL000, 6Gb) player and i'm having?a few issues copying music onto it.
I have loaded the latest firmware (.2.03e) onto it and formatted it so was clean when i started loading my music on.
I'm using winamp on winxp to copy my music to the player, but occasionally i get tracks that wont copy to the player. Winamp just shows 'unspecified error'. If a file fails to copy it will never copy, no matter how many times i try. Somtimes its a random track, sometimes an entire album.
So i also tried copying the tracks that wont copy using windows explorer, it appears to copy but the file never appears on the device. The same is also true when i try it on my Windows7 laptop with explorer, it will appear to be copying but then part way through it will report that the device has stopped responding.
It only seems to happen with windows media files, all my mp3s copy fine. The files that dont copy probably represent about 0% of my music but play fine on all my other players.
sorry for the long post, just really scratching my head with this one!
anyone have any ideas?

solved
did a 'clean up' in the recovery menu, no problems transferring tracks since

• Loading themes problem

I'm posting this again, since i got no response in a topic which is "answered" whereas it's actually not :
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7989694&#7989694
Same "loading themes" problem for me, with iDVD 7.2.
I tried deleting the preferences file and started again idvd, nothing.
The only thing i can do to have it work is use another account, as a matter of fact. But i'd rather use my account, so i'd like to reinstall idvd. but how can i do it?
thanks
stéphane

Actually, iDVD used to work on the other account, because it was kind of blank (there was no video in it). I've just created a new imovie project, on this second account : now there are files in the "Videos" folder (sorry for my english, i'm not sure what's the word on a mac in english, but it french the folder is named "Séquences"), and iDVD freezes again. Even on the second account.
So, to sum up: *as soon as there is one file in the Video folder* (whether a imovie file or any other, like any .avi file), iDVD cant open and freezes...
dont you think that it could be worth reinstalling iDVD? but how? Or maybe there are other applications to make DVDs?
(all software is up to date on my mac)

• Multiple instances of the same applet loaded causes problem

I have a java applet that has several classes in the project. The applet has a JTable a JButton and a JLabel control. The applet is displayed within an HTML page. The problem is that if a user opens the same html page more than once with the applet in it, only the last applet loaded receives the screen updates.
For example in one senario. I have an error message that displays in the Label control once they click on the button.
The user opens the html page and the applet is loaded (window 1). The user then opens the same html page again (window 2) with window 1 still open. If the user clicks on the Button in window 1, the error message is displayed in the window 2 applet.
Originally I had some static variables. Thinking it was being used globally by the JVM so I removed all of them and it still happens. I have tried using both the Applet and Object tag. But it still happens.
Has anyone experienced this before? Any suggestions on how to make the applet update the instance that recieved the events and not just the last one that was loaded?

You need to look at applet classloader issues. If applets have the same archive list and come from the same codebase, they have the same classloader. A class is namespaced by it's class + classloader. Any statics in a class with a classloader will be shared. If you instead make it such that your applets have unique classloaders (which you can't change for unsigned applets by yourself) by changing the codebase, that would be one solution.
For other solutions, I recommend searching the forum. This issue comes up a lot.

• Wgate Load Balancing Problem

Hi Folks,
We have ITS 6.20 Patch level 33 installed which connects to our R/3 system. We are trying to add multiple Agate servers (not multiple Agate processes) to one Wgate. We installed agates on two hosts, host1 and host2. We then installed wgate on host1 which we connected during the time of installation to agate on host2. It connected fine and we were able to get the webgui and also able to login to R/3 system. At that time we had problem in going to native ADM instance as we were getting http 500 error (we had re-installed ADM instance on both the hosts after the whole exercise of installating agate and wgate). Hoping that we can solve native ADM problem later, we added the the second agate which is on hosts1(the same host on which wgate is) by adding the entry for agate 2 in the wgate registry xml file.
<key name="Agates">
<key name="Agate1">
<value name="Host" type="text">host2</value>
<value name="PortAGate" type="text">sapavw00_******</value>
<value name="PortMManager" type="text">sapavwmm_******</value>
<value name="Type" type="text">1</value>
<value name="SncNameAGate" type="text"/>
<value name="SncNameWGate" type="text"/>
<value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
<value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
</key>
<key name="Agate2">
<value name="Host" type="text">host1</value>
<value name="PortAGate" type="text">sapavw00_******</value>
<value name="PortMManager" type="text">sapavwmm_******</value>
<value name="Type" type="text">1</value>
<value name="SncNameAGate" type="text"/>
<value name="SncNameWGate" type="text"/>
<value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
<value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
</key>
The second agate added fine and is doing load balancing as well as we can see requests getting routed to both the agate in the load balancing screen. However we are not able to access the global.srvc file under configuration->Performance->global services->All settings as we are getting the following message:
Error loading service file "global.srvc"!
Also when we go to services under configuration, we are getting a message "error accessing services directory!"
In default R/3 system also all the fields are empty although we had given the application server details while installing both the agates.
We are getting the below messages in diagnostics.log file:

Please let me know if this procedure of adding the agate was wrong or there are some parameter settings that we may have missed. Would it have been better to go for a single host wgate+agate installation on host1 and then add agate2 on host2?

Hi Edgar,
Thanks for the reply. I had re-installed ADM instance on both the hosts after the whole exercise of installing agate and wgate.
Anyways, Now we have uninstalled the earlier instances on both hosts and installed wgate+agate on host1 as a single host installation and agate2 on host2. Then we added agate2 to wgate1 and load balancing is working fine. Now the issue of not being able to access the service file and directories, etc has also been resolved. The only problem that remains is that we are not able to go into the native ADM. We get a http 500 error, although the redirect URL is correct. Is the any additional setting required for that to happen?

• ACE Load Balancing Problem

Hi,
I have ACE 4701 with c4710ace-mz.A3_2_2.bin image. In the current setup ACE is located in the center of network where all the WAN, Intenret and LAN is connected and ACE has default towards Internet and All other segment has default route towards ACE appliance. ACe is only redirecting the port 80 traffic to my Proxy server and bypass my lan subnet on port 80.

I want to use ACE for the load balancing of two servers. Today I did the load balancing configuration but as soon as I applied the policy map on the interface vlan 200 and 300, my complete network reachability went down. When I remove the policy my network came back to normal.

• Load balancing problem

We need a load balancing setup that share the load for many web applications on multiple backend servers, but we don’t want the web apps to be activated on all backend servers at the same time. We want to configure all apps as “lazy” on all backend servers. They will then be activated when the first request to their DNS is made. Then the app is started on that backend server.
We have hundreds of apps and each backend server will become very slow if all apps are activated on all backend servers. The preferred solution would therefore be to not call all DNS names on all backend servers but to share the balance based on the DNS name in the requests. Sticky-session or sticky source-IP won’t be enough to solve this as they only stick to each user session.
If User-A request www.siteA.com he may be redirected to backend server 1 and then be kept there. But if User-B then requests the same www.siteA.com he may be redirected to backend server 2 and then be kept there. This means that the web application for siteA will be activated and loaded in both the backend servers. When we host hundreds of sites this will be a problem. We may have hundreds of backend servers but they will all end up loading all web apps over time and get out of memory.
The theory to get this work is a load balancer with the following logic:
1. A request for a certain DNS comes in. For example: www.siteA.com
2. Load balancer checks if this certain DNS has been redirected to a certain backend server before and if this server is alive
2.1. (If not redirected before): Redirect the request to the backend server with least load. Store the selected backend route based on the DNS name.
2.2. (If redirected before): Redirect the request to the assigned backend server for siteA.
3. If a backend server is down then all DNS requests to this server will be redirected to another backend server with least load. All requests to these DNS names will be assigned to this backend server instead.
h3. Example of set up
Many DNS to one IP
192.168.1.1 www.siteA.com
192.168.1.1 www.siteB.com
192.168.1.1 www.siteC.com
Frontend load balancer
192.168.1.1 (load balancer)
Backend app servers
192.168.2.2 (App server 1)
192.168.2.3 (App server 2)
192.168.2.4 (App server 3)
h3. Snapshot of servers during load
App server 1
www.siteA.com (Activated)
www.siteB.com (Lazy)
www.siteC.com (Lazy)
App server 2
www.siteA.com (Lazy)
www.siteB.com (Activated)
www.siteC.com (Lazy)
App server 3
www.siteA.com (Lazy)
www.siteB.com (Lazy)
www.siteC.com (Activated)

Only from load balancing point of view cluster is not really needed.
apart from session replication and failover capabilities, few more benefits are there with clustering only if you are using a web server also.
Stuck threads can be due to lot's of problems like application issues, load issues etc, So first make sure you are getting stuck thread on both servers or only on one, if on one, then in this case your load balancing not working properly and sending more load to that server, and if you are getting stuck threads on both then try to add one more managed server.

• Loading Project problem in Adobe Ppro CS4

Just registered in this forum and I hope you guys can help me out.
I've been editing in PPro CS4 for quite sometime now and my main problem is during the loading of the project.
here are my specs:
Processor: i7 @ 2.8ghz
OS: Win7 Ultimate 32-bit
RAM: 4GB
VC: ATI HD4670 1GB/128 bit
Storage:       C: - 320GB 7200rpm Seagate SATA
D: - 1TB  7200rpm Western Digital SATA
since I upgraded drastically from a Quad 2 Core to an i7 I decided to use the HD1080i30 (60i) preset in Pprocs4 since I have a sanyo xacti1010 HD cam. But up to now I am unable to finish my video because after the project loads up many of my clips turn into green screen while others no longer play the actual clip.
now my questionS are:
1. Is it because my computer can't handle the specific preset or is my camera not compatible with the preset. If not, which preset should I use?
2. If it's not because of the preset, then where can I find the source of the problem? Specs? Software? Me? :|
I'm not the techie type and I am just starting to understand the technical aspects of editing. I hope a lot of you can help me out because I'm losing my mind and I really want to start editing again.
THANKS in advance!

The Xacti uses it's own version of some MPEG4 codec. That works great with applications like Nero or Ulead, typical consumer applications. PR however is more oriented to standard video camera formats, that are shown in the available presets, like AVCHD.
There have been more questions about the Xacti and how to make it work, but I think these are mainly in the Premiere Elements forum. I would look around in the PE forum and do a search. You may come up with relevant asnwers.

• 2.6.24 - which module is loaded [rt2x00 problem]?

Hey,
I recently upgraded to 2.6.24 because I wanted to use the new rt2x00 wifi modules.
But, those modules are really crappy and buggy - so I want to continue using the 2.6.24 kernel,
but switch back to the legacy rt73 wifi module.
I managed to compile and install the rt73 module, and all is working ok.
But for some unknown reason (to me), the rt73usb, rt2x00, etc. are loaded each time I reboot.
I don't know what causes those modules to load, and I don't want them to load anymore.
How can I remove those modules from the booting sequence?
From where are there called?
Tnx

@Fiod,
That's precisely what I had to do too - compiling the rt73 USB legacy driver downloaded from the rt2x00 site. I use RutilT as the interface and it works well with WPA too.
All other distros I've tried recently suffer from the same problem with loading the unwanted modules automatically when my USB wifi dongle is inserted. But blacklisting in arch works fine: In /etc/rc.conf I need:
MOD_BLACKLIST=(rt73usb rt2500usb)

• MSI GT60 2PC Dominator-- Loads of problems trying to install Win8 onto SSD

Hi guys,
I really, really hope someone can help me!
I recently purchased GT60 2PC Dominator-626 which is awesome. However, it doesn't come with an SSD so I've got a Crucial M500 which I've installed. I'm trying to move over my Win8 install to this drive so that I can have my OS and most used programs on the SSD, but I've been having sooo many problems in doing this. I've tried using cloning software but no luck, whenever I clone the drive and enter bios or boot menu, it will never boot from the SSD.
What I'd be really happy to do is have a fresh install of Win8 onto the SSD, but when I try to reset my PC using the MSI UEFI settings, i will never give me the option to re-install to the SSD, only the original HD.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

Well after trying LOADS of different cloning options, I finally found a way to get my SSD work with this laptop:
I opened Burn Recovery from the app page, used that to create 5 x DVD back up of the system.
Then I removed the old HD, leaving only the SSD in. Placed the first recovery disc in and booted from DVD/CD drive.
Followed that process and now I have an install of Win8 with the MSI stuff on my SSD. I then just got Win8 running, inserted the old HD and reformatted it!

• Loading picture problem

I'm having problem with loading picture in applet window. Here is the example CODE:
* <applet code="SimpleImageLoad" width=248 height=146>

public void init() {
img = getImage(getDocumentBase(), getParameter("img"));
public void paint(Graphics g) {
g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, this);
When i run this file, applet window starts normaly, but picture doesn't load in it, window is empty. The picture is placed in the same directory where the applet HTML file is. I don't know where i'm going wrong?
P.S. I'm new in java!

Your code worked okay as-is. Here I'm loading in a jpg from the "images" directory which is in the current (".", dot) folder. The 'getImage' method returns immediately, ie, it doesn't wait for the image data to be loaded. We use MediaTracker to load the image data before trying to use/draw it. Bad file path and data-not-loaded are the major stumbling blocks in image loading. Another is corrupted image data or unrecognized format; try another image. The swing tutorial has a page "How to Use ImageIcons" with lots of related information. Also, one of the applet threads has image info.

• Loader component problem

This should be a simple problem. I want to use the flash
loader component to load pictures. I drag the loader onto the
stage. Type the pic name in the parameters and save them in the
same folder but nothing comes up? I'm using flash 8. Do I have
setting wrong or something?I have a video tutorial on how to do
this and I follow it eactly but it doesn't work.

Just a quick checklist.
1. is the Loader control set to AutoLoad = true?
2. are you sure the instance name of your Loader is
contentLoader?
3. if you type in the contentPath property in the parameters
window does it work then?

• Loading ITunes problem

Hi,
I'm having problems uploading the Itunes store - any ideas why?.
I've tried removing Itunes and re-loading with no joy :-(

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset and are running any kind of net monitoring software like Bsecure, Net Nanny, AVG Family Safety, Safe Eyes, Covenant Eyes, Norton Online Security etc... I would suggest that you try uninstalling said software and reinstalling iTunes 10.5 to see if that corrects the issue.
The other option is to use Microsoft Fix it tool 50203.

Or You may follow article TS4123 steps to identify which software in your system is the culprit and uninstall it. Good Luck!
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
Last Modified: November 28, 2011
Article: TS4123
Symptoms
You may notice the following symptoms after installing iTunes 10.5 for Windows:
iTunes is slow to respond
Windows is slow to respond
iTunes stops responding when backing up or syncing with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Some processes installed by iTunes are using up a lot of resources in the Windows Task Manager.
iTunes Store looks empty and white as shown below:
Products Affected
iTunes Store, iTunes 10 for Windows
Resolution
Look for modifications to Windows by:
Running MSINFO32 by choosing either Start > Run, or using the search box to search for
Once it is open, expand Components and then expand Network.
Click Protocol. The first value should look like this:
However, if you find a value that is more like this, it indicates that there's an LSP (Layered Service Provider) monitoring your computer:
"<LSP Info>" is variable and may specifically mention a software suite, or appear to be a meaningless acronym
Scroll through the list on the right and look for any LSPs that have been installed by third-party software. By default, the Windows OS will have 10 values:
MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]
MSAFD Tcpip [UDP/IP]
RSVP UDP Service Provider
RSVP TCP Service Provider
MSAFD NetBIOS [\Device\NetBT_Tcpip...
The value above repeated 5 times with additional variables at the end
Note: If you want to know more about which values from this key are part of Windows, please review Microsoft article 811259.
Once you've identified the third-party LSPs, determine which software placed them there. Here is a partial list of LSPs you might run into and the software that may have placed it there:
Product or Manufacturer
LSP Name
Bigfoot Networks
BfLLR over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IPv6]]
ByteMobile, Inc.
BMI over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
Covenant Eyes
Covenant Eyes Monitoring over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
PC Tools / Spyware Doctor
PCTOOLS over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
SafeEyes
Internet Content Filter over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
SpeedBit Video Accelerator
SBLSP over [MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]]
VMWare
VMCI sockets DGRAM
Once you've identified the third-party software that installed the LSP, you can remove that software. If the software is your security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues for additional information.
Note: If unsure on the origin of your LSP, you may try to locate vendor information to determine which software is responsible for the non-default value here.
Reset the WinSock key
If you are unable to identify the software that installed the LSP, you are unable to remove this software because it performs an important function for you, or you've removed this software and the issue persists, you may wish to reset the WinSock key.
To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
Windows Vista and Windows 7:
Windows XP:
Enter the following command:
netsh winsock reset
Restart the computer and test the issue.
