  • Changed the loading screen BMP...anyone else try this? zen x

    Hi everyone.
I just found out you could change the loading screen on the NOMAD CREATIVE ZEN XTRA(40 gig)
I wasn't even sure what the loading screen was.......but after shutting it down it quickly flashed my image.........except it was blurry and hard to read...with some trial and error moves, I was albe to get it more visible, but im sure it could look better
    HAS ANYONE ELSE TRIED THIS?
If so, what type of pictures work best?
Should they be black and white, negati've inverted?........whats the best visible?
---To change the screen, click the 2 mechanical looking COGS logo that is up at the top underneath the tool bar of the creative organizer......then go to change loading screen BMP

    Trance,
Well, you don't actually need to hack it. Just use the MediaSource software and you can change the picture for the player.

  • Loading Screen stuck... won't change to my desktop.

Hey guys, i'm really looking for some help. So i turned my computer on, and the loading screen (gray background, apple in the middle, rotating loading circle), the circle just keeps rotating and my computer won't "turn on". I tried waiting and trying later in the day, same problem. Is there anyone out there who can help?

Turn it off. Hold down the option key and try and boot off the DVD. If that is a non starter then try a safe boot by holding down the shift key after the chime. If that gets you nowhere then see if the machine will boot to target mode (hold down t key) and hook it to another mac via firewire. You can also see if any errors are showing up as the machine trying to boot by holding down command v at boot. You could also try doing a file system check via single user mode. Your machine seems to be hanging right after BootX and the kernel is trying to load.

Unable to use free version regardless of browser on any machine. I login with adobe id but then the loading screen just hangs. can't get any further - Tried all suggestions like clearing browser caches but no change.
Got a couple of projects i wanted to try this on and if the software works I will probably take a subscription but considering this isn't working at all will look elsewhere.
Also - adobe live chat support is useless.

    Hi,
please share the Adobe ID that you are using with DL-AdobeStory-support<at>adobe<dot>com and we will investigate the issue.

  • My safari preferences/ security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.  There is now a Preferences/Privacy screen that allows one to delete cookies, although it is harder to do than the older security screen.  Was this an update?

My Safari Preferences/Security screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies. Rather, there is a new Preferences/Privacy screen that allows you to manipulate cookies, but it is not as easy to use as when cookies were on the security screen. Was this an update?  Has this change affected anyone else? This is strange, because  Safari Help still states cookies are manipulated on the Security screen, even though the screen has changed and no longer addresses cookies.

Presuming you're referring to Safari 5.1, yes, it's moved, but I don't see it as being harder. Now you can clear all privacy-related items - cookies, cache and history - with one button, the "Remove All Website Data" button. If you want to work with individual cookies, it's still just one button, the "Details" button. So no, I don't see it as being more difficult.

  • Custom Loading Screen in Applet

    Hello,
in Flex/Flash the swf File contains 2 parts. First the loading Screen and second the programm.
So it loaded the loading Screen and than contains with the loading of the programm.
You can override the common Loading Screen and add some company specific varaint. The is very usefull, cause many company have a own CI.
So it is possible to change the Loading Screen in Java FX Applets?
    Thanks for you Answer.
    Regards,
    Rookee

See [Joshua Marinacci's Blog: A Better Applet Experience, Part 1: a custom loading screen|http://weblogs.java.net/blog/joshy/archive/2008/08/a_better_applet.html] article.
But I fear we are currently limited to an image, fixed or animated (Gif). We cannot do something fancy like a lightweight FX program showing a more or less complex animation while the heavyweight applet loads in background (and provides progress information...).

Screen resolution changes after opening PDF in Preview and is enlarged.

    Do a backup.
    Quit Preview.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Remove the following. You may not find them all.
    Containers/com.apple.Preview
    Preferences/com.apple.Preview.LSSharedFileList.plist

  • PSD Rollover Button with image in front stops button from changing state

I have a wide PSD button that changes state when rolled over. I would like to place a PNG image with transparency in some areas over the top of it so that the rollover button shows through the transparent areas of the PNG.
How can you get it to do the rollover effect when the user mouses over the bit of the button that the image is in front of? Is ther a way of making the PNG 'invisible' to the mouse?
I know I could redesign the button so that it includes the image but I'm trying to keep file sizes and load times to a minimum, I use this button a lot on my website with a different on each, and having that number of individual buttons would result in a bloated, slow-loading website.

    Hi Abhishek
Thanks for your reply. I was able to achieve the effect I wanted by having the PNG and the PSD Button with the same link and then grouping them. This means I can mouse over the PNG and still get the PSD rollover effect, which is perfect.
However I also have another similar problem. I have some different PSD Rollover Buttons which have some text in front of them (basically it's the button label). On some of these buttons when you roll over the text it prevents the rollover state of the button, and on other buttons the rollover effect occurs as it should, and there doesn't appear to be any consistency about which does what. Grouping or ungrouping doesn't appear to make a difference. Can you help?

  • Restart GKrellm on screen resolution change in KDE

    Hi all!
Any trusty GKrellm wizards still out there? Or KDE mastahs?
I much prefer GKrellm and dockapps for my system monitor needs and currently use the former as a panel in the top right corner on my KDE 4.5 desktop. It works great except for screen resolution changes where switching from larger to smaller resolutions and vice versa breaks the alignment to the right border of the screen.
My question is if there is a lean way, either through GKrellm, KDE or even bash/d-bus or similar to restart GKrellm (which is fast and good enough a solution for me) when I change resolution? Any ideas?
I wish KDE had as an option for "on resolution change, execute X". Come to think of it, I would like KDE to offer this option for power management state switches as well. Hmm, perhaps there should be a generalized "state-based" daemon for launching arbitrary external commands in KDE much like the tools available on Android phones these days, like Tasker, Locale and Setting Profiles...

No hints for how to do this? What about in Gnome?

  • My MacBook is stuck on the loading screen. Please help! Not sure what to do

Hi, so my MacBook has stopped working for some reason
I've just tried switching it on but it has stopped on the loading screen.
I am scared and not sure what to do.
    Please help!!!

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
The first step in dealing with a boot failure is to secure your data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since your last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to boot. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
         a. Boot into the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.”
    b. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, boot the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
    c. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
    Step 2
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to boot, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can boot now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
If you've booted from an external storage device, make sure that your internal boot volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
    Step 3
Boot in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you boot in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, your boot volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 5.
If you can boot and log in now, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the boot process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
    Step 4
Sometimes a boot failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
    Step 5
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select your startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then reboot as usual.
    Step 6
Reinstall the OS. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
    Step 7
Repeat Step 6, but this time erase the boot volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically reboot into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer your data from a Time Machine or other backup.
    Step 8
This step applies only to older Macs (not current models) that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery. Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a gray screen at boot. Typically the boot failure will be preceded by loss of the startup disk and system clock settings. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
    Step 9
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. If you can't get to an Apple Store, go to another authorized service provider.

  • Hanging on Loading Screen

We are using Presenter v7.07 and have a quiz embedded. When we export to presenter, the file 'hangs' on the loading screen.
When we changed the 'viewer.xml' file to an older version of the file it works fine - although obviously we cannot use the older version of the file as it has been updated since then.
We have also changed this file from a PPTX to a PPT file and this also never resolved the issue
Your input on this would be appreciated

    Hi
We went through your presentation and found that there is some issue with quiz.
When a quiz slide is inserted and deleted or when a navigate to slide is set and that slide is deleted we get ino this problem.
Each slide in Powerpoint has a unique ID. Presenter remembers this and then assigns the go to slide navigation
When you delete that particular slide Presenter for some reason does not update it.
In order to workaround your problem you can do the following
    1. Go to Quiz >> Manage
    2. Select your Quiz and click in edit.
    3. Click on the Pass or fail options tab
    4. Click Ok on all dialogs and publish.
    Hope this solves your problems
    Thanks

  • Loading screen above Applet from an iframe

    Hi,
i am running this code for loading screen which is transparent
    http://www.andrewpeace.com/loading-screen.html
now i am placing an iframe
    <p><iframe src="http://statlab0.fon.bg.ac.yu/eng/eng/apletieng/buffon/Coin.html" id="appletFrame"></iframe></p>
so that i may also come behind the loading screen. But the applet is coming in front of the loading screen and not goin behind the screen. can anyone suggest a way to let the applet also to be behind the loading screen.
the above html had the javascript code for loading screen.
if anyone can help out today :(
    i am in urgent need.

No, but maybe a trace could shed some light on the problem:
To turn the full trace on (windows) you can start the java console, to be found here:
    C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4...\bin\jpicpl32.exe
In the advanced tab you can fill in something for runtime parameters fill in this:
    -Djavaplugin.trace=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
if you cannot start the java console check here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\deployment.properties
I think for linux this is somewhere in youruserdir/java (hidden directory)
add or change the following line:
    javaplugin.jre.params=-Djavaplugin.trace\=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option\=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
    for 1.5:
    deployment.javapi.jre.1.5.0_03.args=-Djavaplugin.trace\=true -Djavaplugin.trace.option\=basic|net|security|ext|liveconnect
    The trace is here:
    C:\Documents and Settings\your user\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\log\plugin...log
I think for linux this is somewhere in youruserdir/java (hidden directory)
Print out the full trace of the exception:
    try{...}catch(Exception e){e.printStackTrace();}

    Hi all,
I am trying to do init for SRM data source to ODS object.
The init load is showing  yellow state (0-0 records).
There is no data available in SRM related to this data source.

    Thanks
    S VR.

    Hi S VR,
In the monitor screen go to the Status Tab > click on the lights next to Total > Make it Red and save > the system will prompt a couple of messages, say Yes to them. Then you can Manual Update. Once all packages are done (green), then again Status tab > click onthe lights next to Total > Delete Statsu; back to request status > Save. The request should now be green.
    else
try repair full request option it can help you..
