Loading songs from new computer

Old laptop screen broke. Bought new computer. Bought new songs on new computer. Once shuffle connects, Store wants to wipe off all songs on shuffle before loading new songs. Is it at all possible to transfer songs from old LT, through external drive, on to new LT, then load on to shuffle. Have I lost all of my $$$?

This forum is for troubleshooting compatibility issues between Mac OS and Windows, not iPods. You should probably post your question in the iPod and/or iTunes forums:

  • Transfering songs from new computer onto ipod

Okay, so I have an ipod with about 350 songs on it. The computer and the itunes on that computer that contained those songs crashed, and thus is no longer avaliable for use. So, is there any way to update my ipod with the songs in my new library without having it delete the older songs on my ipod from my older library?

  • Loading songs from one computer to iPod on another computer

I've been using iTunes for some time and, having just about filled up my iBook's hard drive, I transferred my iTumes music to a big ole Windows computer that sits in my closet. It's on the same network and I can play its music on my iBook. Just fine. But the music on the Windows box can't be transferred onto the iPod (plugged into the iBook). The obvious solution of plugging the iPod into the Windows machine isn't convenient, since it's in the closet, and I don't want to go back there.
    Is there a simple solution?
    Thanks

    hello there rockofan87 =^_^=
from what i know if you wanna remove 10.5 for the mbp you wanna do a manual back up of your files (music, movies, pics, docs) then use your 10.4 disk that came with it and do an erase and install. this will only work if the leopard disk you have is a RETAIL copy.

Make a smart playlist of your whole library but only checked songs - #4 on  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1801
Highlight all files in that playlist, then drag to the other drive.  This isn't preserving any playlists or whatever, just copying files from one drive to another.
You might want to delete the smart playlist this once you are done because it will probably gobble up resources with that many files.

  • I was down loading music from my list of songs from my computer, the playlist on my iPod shows the title of the song, but there is no music, and the iPod shuffles to the next song

I down loaded songs from my playlist off my computer to my iPod, the playlist on my iPod shows the title of the song, but no music plays and my iPod shuffles to the next available song. I down loaded about 300 songs at once, was that to much at one time ? How do I get those songs on my iPod without duplicating song titles on the playlist? Plus I have a couple of song duplications on the playlist, can't figure out how to remove them.

If iTunes purchases, delete and redownload by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise delete and resync if they play OK in iTunes on the computer

how do i transfer already purchased songs from my computer to my new iPhone

Connect the phone to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if the left-hand sidebar isn't showing then control-S should get it to show) and then use the Music tab on the right-hand side of the iTunes screen to select the music that you want in the phone's Music app and and sync/apply that selection.

Connect the iPod to your computer and select it on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (if you have iTunes 11 on your computer then you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac, control-S on a PC), and then on the right-hand side you can use the Music tab to select which of your music that you want on the iPod.

  • How can I sync my songs from my computer into i schuffle?

How can I sync my songs from my computer into i schuffle? After I have pressed Sync, the iTunes screen showed completed sync but nothing change in the i-Schuflle.
Further the i Schuffle player has a voice saying I have to sync. But I did.
    Can anyone help?

You probably need to set up (or update) automatic syncing.  If there is nothing new to sync, based on your sync settings in iTunes, the syncing process just starts and stops in a few seconds.
Find the shuffle in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES, and select it there.  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
With the shuffle selected in iTunes, there is a bar of buttons near the top, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This is the shuffle's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the shuffle.
Check the box for Sync Music.  You can choose to sync Entire music library, if your iTunes music library is small and fits on the shuffle.  With this setting, your entire iTunes music library syncs to the shuffle, and new songs get synced automatically.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select (checkmark) the playlists, artists, albums, and/or genres you want on the shuffle from the lists below.  If you want newly added songs to sync to the shuffle, they must be part of your selection.  For example, you can add them to a playlist that you have selected for syncing to the shuffle.
When you click Apply, the songs from your selection sync to the shuffle.  Going forward, changes to your iTunes library (based on your settings on the shuffle's Music screen) sync automatically to the shuffle, the next time it is connected (or when you click Sync).

  • How do you transfer songs from one computer to another?

So my current computer's usb cables don't work anymore and I need a way to transfer the songs from this computer to my sister's. I have music that wasn't purchased from the store in my library from things like cd's and other personal files that my friends and family have sent me and I would like to have them all in my library but the only thing that shows up on my sister's computer are the songs that I've purchased. Is there a way to sync my music or put it on my sister's computer somehow? Thank you!

See also Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Even if you transfer the songs via some other method when working with a new library you should also look at backing up and then restoring the device to protect the data that you have on it. Alternatively copy over the entire library into a new location on your sister's computer and switch to your library when you want to update your device. See iTunes: How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one.

  • I can't find my previous ??? concerning if it is possible to load songs from a "non-apple" device into iTunes

I can't fnd the question I asked in here roughly an hour ago - concerning if I can load songs from a "non-apple" device. I have a SanDisk that I'd like to load my songs into iTunes - is this possible?

    A.C.,
These links will give you several methods of recovering whatever songs remain on your iPod; some free, some third-party software, some more comprehensive for restoring Playlists, Ratings, Play Counts, etc. Read them and their associated links before deciding on a strategy that works for you. There are many various third-party software programs that will offer a more robust process, or an easier GUI. Do a Google search for them if the links below leave you wanting…
Don King Resurrected: Deleted files from hard drive (free user steps – music recovery only)
MacMuse: Computer Crashed (free user steps – music recovery only)
Copying music from iPod to computer (a primer on various methods and software)
Copying Songs from Your iPod to a Mac or PC (resource for 3rd party software)
    iPodRip Software
    PodUtil Software
Senuti (Mac OS X v10.3 or higher Recovery Utility)
XPlay (Software For Music Recovery &/or Cross-Platform Functionality)
XPlay Photo Browser (For recovering Photos)
After recovering your song files, strongly consider developing a thorough backup strategy for just this type of situation (and many other potential disasters).
You need at least two full sets of your music, not including what is on the iPod:
-- One full set on the PC within iTunes (on internal HD or ExHD)
-- One full set on an separate external backup medium (CD/DVD/ExHD/other)
-- One (full or partial) set on the iPod
Music files on just the iPod and only one other medium is not considered having any backup.
If you cannot store your complete music files on the computer’s internal HD, then create and maintain at least two external sets (any multiple combinations of ExHDs, DVDs, CDs).
Backup both the music files and the Library database file (iTunes Library.itl). What are the iTunes Library files?

Is there a way to load music onto my iPad that I did not purchase from iTunes?  I have loaded songs from CDs I purchased onto my computer and want to load them in my iPad.  Is this possible and how is it done?

Is there a way to load music onto my iPad that I did not purchase from iTunes?
    yes.

the easiest way is to create a playlist with the tunes you want on the iPad and sync that playlist to it.
