Loading speed of Forum home page

Whenever I enter the forum home page after some idle time, it takes 10-20 seconds to load. This seems excessive.
Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me (possible because of higher than average activity )?
What could be the problems? Maybe the server has issues collecting all the "custom" information to construct the page?
To test, I tried a few things, e.g. dont display the subscriptions at the bottom. bzzt! Doesn't work! I could not find a way to disable the display of subscriptions, at least one must show! (If I set "Number of Displayed Subscriptions" to zero, it displays all of them instead. )

Thanks Molly for confirming my suspicion that it had to do with subscriptions. I now removed all subscriptions and the speed is definitely improved.
If I had a way to sort threads according to last activity in the list of my posts, subscriptions would be less important. Ths has been requested elsewhere and should be on top of the to-do list.
Maybe we should have an option to auto-expire subscriptions after a defined time interval (1 week, 1 month).
We should have an option to not show any subscription on the front page. The current minimum is one. Setting it to zero display all messages instead.
Maybe you just need a faster server. It should be able to handle a few altenbachs .

Is it my imagination, or does the Last Post column keep appearing and disappearing from the forum home page?
I've seen it a few times, I think, but then it vanishes.

Hmmm...interesting.
When I'm reading a forum and want to go to the main Forum Home page, I click on the "Forum Home" link in the upper left corner of the page (just under the Oracle logo).
The link has this url: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/index.jspa?categoryID=84 which is slightly different than the two you posted.
When I click on it, I end up at the first link you posted. But sometimes I see the Last Post column and sometimes not.

What could be the cause?
Is there a log with information about this failure?

I check the host file and this is correctCheck Apache log files (error_log* and access_log* under $LOG_HOME/ora/10.1.3/Apache directory).
Also, run AutoConfig and make sure it completes successfully.

TS1398 I seem to be experiencing some technical difficulty when trying to load up my Facebook home page and also other people's FB home pages. My iPad initially starts to load the page, but then abruptly closes Safari. Any ideas on why/how to fix?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Do a malware check with a few malware scan programs.

Firefox 12 doesn't load bookmarks in sidebar, home pages don't open, undo closed tab won't work.

Firefox 11 worked fine. Firefox 12 seemed to install too fast. Now, when opening Firefox, bookmarks don't load in sidebar, even though the top of the sidebar says "bookmarks." Home pages won't load on opening Firefox---only a new tab. Clicking on the little house icon opens the home pages. Display closed tabs icon is dark and Undo closed tabs won't work. Sometimes the toolbar with File, Edit, View etc goes so dark it virtually disappears. I have Vista OS. Reinstalling Firefox 12 didn't help. Is there a fix, or can I go back to Firefox 11?

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Firefox only loads book-marked websites. no websites load from firefox default home page searh or address bar inputs. HELP

I Run Windows 7 Ultimate. I use Avast anti Virus. Google Chrome works fine. Firefox started not responding to searches queries from its default home page. When I input an address in the address line i also had no reaction. When i clicked om a bookmark it does load that particular website. I have uninstalled firefox completely. Reloaded the latest version downloaded from Mozilla. Still have the same problem. I did a Reset Firefox. No luck. I changed the proxy settings to "no proxy". I have done the "disable IPv6" in about:config. I have created the "network.dns.disablePrefetch" boolean. Still no luck. Please help.

Why can I no longer load my iGoogle personalized home page in Firefox 5 or 6 when I can in Safari?

I have a customized iGoogle home page that I was able to access in Firefox 5 until a few days ago. Now, I can't access it in either Firefox 5 or 6. I get a different, and mostly blank, Google screen instead.
I am still able to get my personalized home page in Safari. (I'm using an Intel iMac.)
How can I get my home screen back in Firefox?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
* Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
* Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Make sure that you are still logged in to Google.

Since down loading Firefox 5 my home page and other pages leap to the right so I only have half a page.

Open System Preferences > General
Deselect: Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
Assuming you are using Safari, from your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Empty Cache
If that didn't help, back to the menu bar, click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If you aren't sure how to, "quit" an app, you can do that from the menu bar. Safari > Quit Safari or Command + Q on your keyboard.

I am having to use IE to access your site to send you a question about why Firefox is not loading even your own home page? Also can i go back to the previous version of Firefox, as this version (4.0) has a huge number of problems?

It started out as once in a while the page would load, but be blank. Now it is nearly every website I attempt to go shows it loads the page, as the address is listed in the top. it shows the page name in the tab, but the page is blank.
As I said in my question, I am having to contact you on IE, because Firefox won't load it's own pages.
So that you know, it had been years snce I used IE, Since loading 4.0 it has become a daily event.

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

Home page not loading correctly in iFrame

So I have put together a site (which is still being tested)
and one of the
bugs I have is: I have a SWF that loads different content
into an iframe on
the opposite side of the page from it. All pages except the
"homepage"
load properly. The home page is being loaded dynamically into
the iframe
with javascript.
However it doesn't load up all i get is this message:

Provided the site definitions (local and remote) in DW are set correctly and the Host directory for the Remote Site is set to "public_html", DW can handle the file paths.
I have several sites on different areas of my local hard drive with various folder names. Likewise the Host directory for the Remote Site varies: html, public_html, web and so on. DW is happy with all of them.

How to make Firefox 8.0.1 load only the home page when starting?

After upgrading to 8.0.1, I see two tabs being loaded when starting - my home page and this http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/central/. I dont find a setting to not load mozilla page.
This happens only when the first instance of firefox is started. If I start another firefox, it loads only the home page tab.
