  • Apps load on boot up

When I boot my new imac, some apps will load that I do not want.  I have gone into the user login screen and checked the login startup area but it is empty.  How do I get the apps to stop loading on boot up?

Thanks Pete for your reply.  Yes, these programs are in the dock at the bottom of the screen.  I did right click under options and none of them are set to open.
It is a puzzle to me.  I am very new in the apple world and most likely missed something somewhere.
    dwb,
I have been finding that I have to close all the apps that open when I boot up anyway.  When I go to log out, I make sure my screen is empty with no apps running.  When I shut down or reboot, the same apps launch each and every time.

Please clarify what you mean. If the bluetooth service is started, then there is a bug or something very very odd. IF on the contrary you mean that the bluetooth-related modules are loaded by udev, this is perfectly normal: udev autoloads modules according to your hardware, not to your services. You need to blacklist the loaded bluetooth-related kernel modules (check them with 'lsmod') and to blacklist them in the MODULES array.

  • Cannot load generic boot images

I've been having an issue where when I PXE boot to my SCCM server, it starts to load the Boot Image but then reboots immediately, leaving
me in the same place I started. My assumption was that the Boot Image was corrupt, so I went to delete the image from the DP and Config Manager. Now when I go to add the boot images back into CM, I browse to the location where they're stored and I get a blank
Boot Image drop down list. Has anyone seen this before? I've included a picture of what I'm talking about.

Same here. I was getting into the PE environment just fine, but the computer would reboot after saying "Configuring Network Connections". The only reason I deleted the boot environments from Config Manager was because I thought the Boot.WIM files were corrupt.
Looking back on it, I think I probably just needed to add a NIC driver to the WIM.
TConners, did you do any upgrades to the Assessment and Deployment Toolkit in that period of time? I upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 in that timeframe.

  • C1250 AP loading in boot loader mode

I am trying to configure a c1250 Access Point but there is no config t command. It appears that the AP is loading in boot loader mode.  Can anybody tell me how I can get a IOS on here so that I can configure the AP?
    From Sho Ver on AP:
ROM: Bootstrap program is C1250 boot loader
BOOTLDR: C1250 Boot Loader (C1250-BOOT-M) Version 12.4(18a)JA1, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

If the AP is in "rommon" then you should NOT be able to get any output to the command "sh version".
I am suspecting the AP has booted into a controller-based IOS.  Console into the AP and post the complete output of the boot-up process.

  • Cpufreq_ondemand doesn't load at boot

    Hi,
I followed the wiki article for cpu scaling which all worked, but when I rebooted ondemand was not set, however "cpufreq_set -g ondemand" did then work. The article says to add cpufreq_ondemand to the MODULES array in rc.conf which I have done.
The article also says to add acpi_cpufreq to the MODULES array but this resulted in "FATAL: Error inserting acpi_cpufreq (/lib/.../acpi-cpufreq.ko): Device or resource busy" at boot so I took it out. I have though added cpufreq to the DAEMONS array as suggested in another post.
    Thanks, Jamie Kitson

When using CCC (Carbon Cophy Cloner) or Disk Utility to clone a Mac HD of one new iMac to another, over ThunderBolt, we are getting I/O errors. Even though the clone fails, the destination  system does boot and log in, however, the logins take a very very very long time.
    Thoughts.
Edit: Already ran Disk Utility. Also reinstalled a fresh OS on top of the cloned OS and it seemed to remedy the problem. Then, cloned to next machine in the row of the lab. Same problem.

OK, by that I assume that you used Disk Utility to repair the subject disk and it reported "The volume (name) appears to be OK" in green.
Also verify you followed the instructions here: http://help.bombich.com/kb/usage-scenarios/i-want-to-clone-my-entire-hard-drive- to-a-new-hard-drive-or-a-new-machine
If so, the Thunderbolt connection begins to look suspicious.
Reinstalling OS X subsequent to the "clone" operation may be an acceptable workaround but you should not have had the I/O errors you describe, nor should the login times (subsequent to the initial login, that is) be unacceptably long. It calls into question the integrity of all the information that was transferrred.
I'll try to attract the attention of a CCC expert who will likely provide more competent assistance. You can also try the Bombich support site: http://help.bombich.com

  • [SOLVED] slim fails to load on boot

    Hi,
On boot the system will attempt to load slim, but fails, with no onscreen reason as to why.  If I attempt to launch slim from the console, the same thing happens.  Here's what systemctl thinks:-
    $ systemctl status slim
slim.service - SLiM Simple Login Manager
    Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/slim.service; enabled)
    Active: failed (Result: exit-code) since Fri 2014-01-31 20:24:01 GMT; 2h 15min ago
    Process: 325 ExecStart=/usr/bin/slim -nodaemon (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
    Main PID: 325 (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
    CGroup: /system.slice/slim.service

Jan 31 20:24:01 laptop systemd[1]: Unit slim.service entered failed state.
    There's this from journalctl too:-
    Jan 31 20:24:01 laptop systemd[1]: slim.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE
Jan 31 20:24:01 laptop slim[325]: (EE) Server terminated successfully (0). Closing log file.
Jan 31 20:24:01 laptop systemd[1]: Unit slim.service entered failed state.
I should add.  If I login to a bash prompt, and launch X with startx, it boots to the desktop.

  • Win 7 cannot load in boot camp

    Hey experts!! Need help...
I have successfully installed bootcamp win7 on my mbp 2009 model intel 2nd Gen. I have installed all the programs and it was running great then I wanted my MBP win 7 trackpad to be like mac gesture so I googled and found this website http://trackpad.powerplan7.com/
After installing the power plan it prompted me to restart the MBP and it just got stuck at the win7 logo screen so I powerdown and reboot and it went to a screen where they asked whether I wanted to repair the windows(recommended) or just start windows normally.
I tried the option of repairing but after loading all the windows drives it just stuck in a black screen and stayed there for eternity! So i reboot again and lead me to the same option screen or repairing or load as normal, so I chose normal and it starts the windows again but stuck at the logo...
I do not know what to do from here...tried inserting my real win7 dvd and boot but to no avail.so yes Iam running out of ideas!! I would hate reinstalling everything again...sigh... please help!
Btw, my MAC OSX is running fine!
    Thanks in advance!

Post again in this thread Re: A NEW TRACKPAD DRIVER IS OUT ,
