Local Adjustment Brush Panel Changed in LR3?

In LR2, I used to be able to click a small rectangular button in the local adjustments brush panel to change the lay out of the effects sliders. I can't seem to find the button in LR3, and the default layout of the effects sliders is much more cumbersome to work with than the alternative view offered in LR2. What am I missing???

So does that mean I could create a custom + exposure, +
saturation, +clarity +sharpening brush?
Another Q: when I use the local mask, I get what looks like sand smeared around the edges of the brush on solid surfaces. When I am using the local mask around the edges of vegetation, the leaves sart to get a lot of halo-ing. Is this normal? When is the best time to use the local mask?

  • How to change local adjustment brush size when unselecting ?

Perhaps a stupid beginners question but i cannot seem to find this one..
Using the local adjustment brush i can change the size of the brush using the [ and ] brackets
However.. when i make a small error and want to erase brushed-area by using the ALT key then the brush size seems to be fixed to one size ???

    Erwin,
As they say, there are lots of ways to skin a cat.
Erase mode uses a different setting for the brush size. You can adjust it, but not with the brackets while the Alt key is held down. With the Alt held down, you can still move the size slider in the brush panel with the mouse.
I can't speak for Macs, but on Windows, my scroll wheel works to change the size of the brush, whether the alt key is pressed or not.
If that won't work for you, you can click on the "Erase" text button in the brush panel and then use the bracket keys to change sizes. You'll be in erase mode even without holding down the Alt key. In fact, in that mode, holding the Alt key puts you back in "paint" mode.

  • Strange behavior of LR3 local adjustment brush

Lately, it seems that LR3 (Mac) is acting strange when doing local adjustments. When using the adjustment's brush, the area being "painted on", i.e., adjustments, a square area centered on the cursor position is shaded a bit darker than the area not covered by the brush. What gives?

I have had similar problems with 3.2 and also (while doing local adjustments)
    - rectangular areas of the image suddenly duplicated elsewhere in the image
    - whole image flipped upside down while painting with the local adjustment brush
Using Undo always put back the image in a normal state (the state it was before starting to apply the last local adjustment).
I have not seen this in 3.3 (final release) until now but I didn't use it much since it has been made available.
NB: (before someone asks) Yes, I do have the latest NVidia driver installed.

  • My Local Adjustment Brushes no longer recognized after LR 4.3 update

After running 4.3 update, my local adjsutment brushes are no longer recognized and appearing in the Lightroom GUI.  They are all still located under 'Lightroom' folder --> 'Local Adjustment Brushes' folder (nothing has changed and I see all files are still there in Finder), but no matter how many times I've restarted LR, they are not showing up in the GUI.
    Please advise ASAP!!  Thank you

It's not clear from your initial problem description, but are you talking about local adjustment presets that you have created yourself (i.e. user presets), or are you talking about the standard presets supplied by Lightroom (Burn, Dodge, Soften Skin, etc)?
If it's the latter, go to Preferences>Presets Tab and click on "Restore Local Adjustment Presets".

  • Local Adjustment Brush - create a line

    Hey everyone,
I thought that in Lightroom 2, you could use the local adjustment brush, click on an area, then hold down ctrl key, click another area, and a line would be drawn between the two points.  How do you do it in Lightroom 3?  Am I mistaking this in Lightroom 2?  I'm pretty sure I used it alot for a while and can't figure it out now.
    Thanks ahead of time,
    Colby

I used this feature in the past to paint along straight edges that Auto mask does a poor job on.  It may have been in Photoshop that I did this but I thought I also used it in Lightroom.
Not in Lightroom. Applying changes to a selection is sort of the domain of a pixel editor.

  • Local Adjustment Brush Sliders Are Gone

I did a reinstall, repair actually of LR 2.6 due to blue screen errors (which turned out not to be LR related) and now my local adjustment brush sliders are gone! I've got the old style, one slider with the other controls being + & - buttons. I've got no clue what else is gone but I would like my sliders back.
What happened? LR says it's the most current version.

    Jim,
In the upper right corner of the brush panel is a little whte buttton. It is on the same line as "adjustment:".
Click that button to reveal your sliders

  • Wacom Tablet Pen Pressure stops working in Photoshop after using Lightroom Local Adjustment Brush

    Hi all,
I am experiencing a problem with my Intuos Pro Medium (driver 6.3.9w3 on Windows 8.1)
I am using Lighroom 5.6 and Photoshop CC 2014.
I an get the pen pressure to work in Photoshop without any problem. However, if I go into Lightroom and use the Local Adjustment Brush and then transfer the photo into Photoshop (Right Click Edit In => Edit in Adobe Photoshop 2014 CC) then the pen pressure stops working in Photoshop.
Really frustrating... The only workaround is to close both Photoshop and Lightroom, then reopen Photoshop, then usually the Pen pressure feature starts working again.
Has anyone experienced this before or has any idea how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Guillaume

Your tablet driver isn't reporting pressure correctly.
The knockoff tablet drivers usually need to be revised for each new version of Photoshop (and we have no idea why).
Contact your tablet maker to see if they have updated drivers to fix their bugs.

  • Local adjustment brush, not in XMP file

Local adjustment brush, not in XMP file
I shoot everything on location and make minor edits while on location. My location edits usually transfer with the XMP file. I used the new local adjustment tool while on location, however when I got back to my main workstation and transferred the images the local adjustments were not there. Can this be fixed somehow, as it would be nice to only make those edits only once? I do not use as a catalog program, once the job is complete it is removed from the lightroom catalog so again those local adjustments are gone.
    Thanks
    Mark

The problem may be and I am only guessing here that because no other program
currently supports the adjustment brush options that that information is not
added to XMP file. Not even Photoshop or ACR supports that as of yet. Though
I honestly would have expected that information to be there anyways it would
just be ignored by programs that don't know what to do with (basically
    everything but LR 2.0).
Have you tried using DNG files. From what I understand an XMP file it not
needed as the information that is normally in a XMP file in kept inside of
the DNG file. This maybe another reason to go with the DNG format.
    Good luck.

  • Sharing custom preset local adjustment brushes between 2 computers?

As I start to do more and more of my work in either Lightroom 2.2 or ACR, I'm creating "preset" local adjustment brushes.
I run on a desktop and a lap top.
Is there a way to copy and move the new preset brushes from one computer to another?
Asked another way, where does ACR and/or Lightroom store these things on a Mac so that I can copy from one and move to another?
    Thanks.
    Steve

ACR Presets and Settings etc. are stored in:
    Users/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw/
You can copy them to another computer and store them in the equivalent place.

  • Local Adjustment Brush - can't choose color

When I choose to add color to a local adjustment brush, there is a small square on the color spectrum but I cannot select anything as my eye dropper has disappeared.  How do I get it back?  I am able to choose a color from the swatch above but not within the color spectrum below.
    I appreciate any help.
    Lightroom3

I'm using Windows 7 and my monitor drives are up to date (or at least as recently as last week I checked).  I think it is a setting somewhere.  I can still choose a color but have to do it with the arrow keys.

  • Temperature and Tint sliders missing from Adjustment Brush Panel (Lightroom 4.4)

Can't seem to locate the temperature and tint sliders in the adjustment brush panel that's supposedly an added fetaure in Lightroom 4?

    1. Click the little black triangle on the right side of the line that says  Effect:
2  And/Or make sure your image has been converted to Process Version 2012 by clicking the Exclamation Point in the bottom Right of the image or in the Camera Calibration Panel  Process: pulldown.

  • Local Adjustment Brush does not work in Windows 7, 64-bit

All other tools and functions work OK.  My issue is just with the Adjustment Brush;  The Adjustment Panel opens when the brush is selected and the brush moves, but none of the adjustments are applied to the image.  The problem is clearly related to the new operating system.  This was just confirmed, by removing the hard drive with the Windows 7, 64-bit OS,  and inserting an old hard drive with Windows Vista, 32-bit installed. The adjustment brush works fine with the old OS and the same version of PS.
My normal monitor resolution is 1920 x 1200 with a DPI of 151; however, this DPI is not compatible with PS, so I reset it to 149 evey time I use PS.  Lower screen resolutions and DPI settings don't resolve the problem. I mention this only because of a previous cursor problem that was resolved by changing the DPI.
I'm using CS4 with Camera Raw version 5.6.  Version 5.5 also does not work.
    Can anyone offer suggestions?

Problem solved.  One of the recent upgrades to Camera Raw reset the flow rate to zero, which I did not notice until after posting the message.
    Sorry for the error.

  • Acr local adjustment brush erase

In the local adjustment panel of ACR my erase button deactivates when I start to use it.  The add button becomes active and the brush only adds to the mask.  I am able to erase by holding the option button .  This is inconvenient when I go to resize the brush.

I have the most recent version of PS cc 2014 according to my APPS.  This issue was resolved via a live chat with Adobe support.  An earlier update didn't install correctly.

  • Why do adjustment brush parameters change after drawing?

Adjustment brush includes few "programm preset effects". When I start to use "Eris inhance", its parameters are set to 66. After drawing part of my picture, it automatucally decrease to 40. I do need every time to increase it again to 66 manually. I do not know why those parameters change and how to repair it (previously it was always set at the 66 level, even after drawing).
I use Lr 4.1 on Mac.
Actually parameters change just after I realease my mouse.
