Local and National Calls

Local calls are calls made within your local area. They're untimed and charged at a flat fee. Calls within Australia that fall outside of your local call area are usually charged as National calls.
Check if a phone number is within your local call area by following the steps below:
Step 1
Download our Charging Zones guide, available in either PDF (3.06MB) or Word format (3.02MB)
Step 2
Find your local Charging Zone. To do this, view the Charging Zones guide and look for your town or suburb (or nearest major town)
Step 3
When you've found your local charging zone, check the District heading to view which district you're located within
Step 4
Check which areas are covered by your local call district. To do this, view page 5 of the Charging Zones guide. Look for the district you located in the previous step
Step 5
When you've located your district, check the contains the following charging zones section to see which areas are covered by local calls. National calls are long distance calls to fixed line numbers within Australia. If you're calling a fixed line outside of your local call charging zone, you'll be charged National call rates. View call prices for your Home Phone plan.

Re: Local and National Calls
I was told that I would get a copy of the contract stating what calls were allowed and what Internet usage I was allowed. I also was told that all calls were local with in a certain radius of exchange and that this was 60klms. I want this all in writing or a statement.

  • 3241 ISDN Gateway--DTMF Relay Type & local vs. national signaling

    Question 1:
    Is there a way to configure the 3241 so that it will flag local vs. national call types on the d-channel appropriately?  The local TSP sees all calls flagged national..  They do accept both 7 and 10 digit formats for local calls so we set dialing rules to add the local area code (without a +1) to 7-digit numbers and that seems to work OK.
    Querstion 2:
    Does anyone know what type of DTMF relay is being used by the Cisco-acquired Tandberg/Codian 3241 ISDN Gateway?  I'm pretty sure the DTMF relay type is not configurable in that box.  Does this fall under the alphanumeric H.245 relay type?
    I have a customer that, for outbound long distance calls (Primarily ISDN voice, but some ISDN video), requires their ISP to provide a DTMF-based billing code service.  We've worked with the local TSP to verifiy what they are seeing on the switch and it looks like all digits are passing appropriately (although I also don't see any way to tell the Cisco 3241 GW to flag the call as Local vs. National
    The PRI itself is provided through one local LEC and handed to a secondary TSP to provide the DTMF/billing solution.
    The PRI has been works fine for local calls, but long distance (national) calls route throuth the primary provider and then pass to the secondary provider.  We've worked with the local TSP to verifiy what they are seeing on the switch and it looks like all digits are passing appropriately.  Logs from the ISDN gateway do not show opening any audio or h.245 channel, no 'biiling tone-prompt' is heard, and we cannot access/enable the touch tone menu on the endpoint during the time the ISDN GW is attempting to set up the call.  I suspect that either the billing code service is not turned up yet, but I'm hoping its is not a H323/H.245 and/or endpoint cpability that is preventing this from working.
    In order to troubleshoot with the service provider I assume I'll need to know what DTMF type we are sending, I am hoping they could also tell me by debuggin the switch for any signaling they are receiving from us.
    If anyone has any experience setting up similar service on CUCM i'd love to hear what was required on that system for DTMF relay, and if there is anything else I may need to ask the TSP
    Thanks!

    DTMF relay for H323 is handled with 3 commands.
    cisco-rtp Cisco Proprietary RTP
    h245-alphanumeric DTMF Relay via H245 Alphanumeric IE
    h245-signal DTMF Relay via H245 Signal IE
    Your best bet is h245-alphanumeric. The dtmf-relay rtp-nte command is used for SIP dial-peers.
    The DTMF relay feature transports DTMF tones generated after call establishment out of band using either a standard H.323 out-of-band method and a proprietary RTP-based mechanism, or for SIP calls, an NTE RTP packet.

  • App to track the Local and international outgoing calling minutes and more.

    Hi, I'm looking for an iPhone 4 (iOS4) application which can track the call duration for both local and international outgoing and incoming calls. It should be possible to reset the counters and it should begin tracking the call duration from that point again. It will be great if it track the incoming/Outgoing SMS counters and Data Transfer through 3G/EDGE and Wi-Fi separately.
    Regards,
    Muthu

    There is no such app as 3rd party apps aren't permitted to access core functions of the phone. You can use: Settings > General > Usage > Call Time - Current Period, and reset after each call.

  • Local Session Bean calling another local Session Bean in EJB 3.0

    Hi,
    In EJB 3.0, I am trying to do JNDI lookup of a local sesion bean from another session bean's helper class.
    I am not using @EJB injection mechanism here, as call to the local session bean is made in a helper class. Helper classes do not support resource injection.
    Following are the EJB class definitions used in my project. Call to "EJB3Local" made from "EJB1" fails as the "EJB2" helper class is calling "EJB1Local"
    @Stateless
    @EJBs({@EJB(name="EJB2Local", beanInterface=EJB2Local.class),
    @EJB(name="EJB3Local", beanInterface=EJB3Local.class)})
    public class EJB1 implements EJB1Remote, EJB1Local{
    public void findEJB3Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup for EJB3Local ----
    //2. EJB3Local.someFunction()
    @Stateless
    @EJB(name="EJB1Local", beanInterface=EJB1Local.class)
    public class EJB2 implements EJB2Remote, EJB2Local{
    public void findEJB1Local(){
    //1. JNDI lookup EJB1Local
    // 2. Call EJB1Local.findEJB1Local method
    @Stateless
    public class EJB3 implements EJB3Remote, EJB3Local{
    public void someFunction(){}
    A remote call to EJB2.findEJB1Local() will invoke EJb1Local.findEJB3Local method and the call fails with "java:comp/env/EJB3Local" not found in EJB1Local.
    Has anybody encountered an issue like this issue with local interface calling another local interface?
    Thanks,
    Mohan

    To refer a Ejb from another Ejb include <ejb-ref> element

  • Looking up Identical EJB both locally and remotely

    prior to posting this request, i have read and
    attempted multiple solutions to this problem
    suggested in the forums to no avail.
    if i have the same EAR, which contains both
    an EJB Component and a WAR, deployed to multiple
    servers, is it possible to look up an EJB both
    locally and remotely?
    for instance, on the server performing the lookup,
    EJB A is deployed. i successfully look it up
    via the following call:
    InitialContext context = new InitialContext();
    Object ref = context.lookup(name);
    return javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow("EJBA", EJBAClass.class);
    subsequently, i try to lookup the same ejb
    on a remote server by performing the following
    calls:
    Properties environment = new Properties();
    environment.put("java.naming.factory.initial", "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
    environment.put("java.naming.provider.url",
         "ormi://remoteserver:23791/application");
    environment.put( "java.naming.security.principal", "user");
    environment.put( "java.naming.security.credential", "password");
    jndiContext = new InitialContext(environment);
    Object ref = context.lookup(name);
    return javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject.narrow("EJBA", EJBAClass.class);
    however, i either receive an authentican exception, saying "user"
    doesnt have access to allication "application", or a null pointer
    exception int the RMIInitialContext.
    on my local application, i have defined my ejbs in the web.xml
    as defined by the spec. the ejb component is marked as remote="false"
    in my orion-application.xml as well.
    the version of oc4j is 1.0.2.2.1.
    any directinon on this would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks,
    ted rice

    as a follow up to my own question, using a application
    client, outisde of the web application i can
    successfully look up my ejbs locally and remotely.
    however, from within the web application, i constantly
    receive a ClassCastException.
    if no one can tell me how to resolve this, could someone
    let me know if they have in fact looked up the
    same EJB, both deployed locally and remotely, from the
    same web application.
    thanks,
    ted

    Hi,
    Please try to clear all preferences for Mac Lync.
    You can do as following steps in the link:
    http://www.unicom.iu.edu/kb.php?docid=bave :
    1.  Quit Lync for Mac.
    2..In your Home folder, open the Library folder. Note that Mac OS X 10.7 and later hides your Library folder. To access it:
           1. Press Command-Shift-g, or from the Go menu, select Go to Folder... .
           2. In the Go to Folder drop-down window, enter ~/Library, and click Go.
    3.  Remove the following files from your Library folder:
              /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.Lync.plist
              /Users/username/Library/Preferences/ByHost/MicrosoftLyncRegistrationDB.xxxx.plist
              /Users/username/Library/Logs/Microsoft-Lync-x.log (This file is present only if you turned on Lync Logging.)
              /Users/username/Library/Logs/Microsoft-Lync.log
    4.  In your Documents folder, remove the following:
              /Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Lync Data
    5.  Optionally, also remove Microsoft Lync History:
              Users/username/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Microsoft Lync History
              Note: This optional step will delete saved conversations. For Mac users, the conversation history is not saved to the Exchange account, but instead is saved locally
    to the Mac.
    6.  Open Keychain Access from the /Applications/Utilities folder:
         1. Delete any keychains on the left that look like the following, where emailaddress is your email address:
    OC__KeyContainer__emailaddress
         2. In your Login keychain, delete the following, where emailaddress is your email address:
    emailaddress.cer
    7.  In the /Users/username/Library/Keychains folder, delete all files that look like the following, where emailaddress is your email address:
    OC__KeyContainer__emailaddress

  • Subscription Clarification for Local and Internati...

    Hi!
    I will be travelling to Japan with a group of students this coming May and I thought it would be a good idea to get a Skype subscription for unlimited calls. I will have a portable wifi router on me at all times so the internet connection shouldn't be a problem.
    My situation is a little complicated so i was hoping some of you could clarify this for me.
    What I need:
    -Capable of calling local (JPN) land lines and other mobile numbers (the Japan subscription should take care of this right?)
    -Capable of calling back home (If i want to call Canada, will I have to purchase another subscription?)
    Some questions I have:
    -If someone wants to reach me, they have to call my skype number right? If so, what is the number classified as by other providers? (I will be primary in country contact for my group. My responsibilities include calling and receiving calls from local companies. Will they have to make long distance calls to reach me at my Skype number? They may have to reach me for emergencies so the easier the better.)

    Hello
    You misunderstand Skype. With Skype there are no international calls. All calls are local worldwide irrespective of origin or destination.
    Skype subscription
    TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
    I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac
    If my advice helped to fix your issue please mark it as a solution to help others.

  • Locale and addXMLPath

    I've got a web app that runs from "/app", and my Flash
    control loads from "/flash". This control is localized and the
    language files are stored in "/flash/en", "/flash/ja", etc.
    However, the Flash app attempts to load it's resources from
    "/app/en", "/app/ja", etc. I was surprised by this-- I thought
    these files would load relative to the Flash object, not the URL of
    the host document.
    I'd like to control the full path to the language files, and
    I believe it is possible, but I'm having trouble. The
    "Locale.addXMLPath" method is (I think) the method I'm looking for,
    but so far I haven't gotten it to work.
    First of all, am I suppose to give it the path to the
    directory where the XML files live, or the path to the XML file
    itself?
    // Like this?
    Locale.addXMLPath("en", "/flash/en");
    // or...
    Locale.addXMLPath("en", "/flash/en/flash_obj_en.xml");
    Second, how should I configure the Flash control so that it
    delays the loading of the XML file until these paths are assigned?
    Configure for string replacement "automatically at runtime" or "via
    ActionScript at runtime"? I just don't want avoid having to invoke
    a method for every localized text field in the Flash control.
    I haven't found much on Google about "addXMLPath"-- the Flash
    documentation has an example, but the example doesn't actually
    *call* addXMLPath. And most user-written pages about it aren't in
    English. :)

    There's an internationalisation forum here. You might have more luck in there. As a starting point though, yes you can use it from a JSP, (although conventionally you'd have separate JSPs containing translations rather than dynamically include the text, it's a performance thing). I assume that you realise that it won't do the translation for you(?).

  • Locale and Jsp

    Hi again,
    I am new to jsp and would like to hear some expert advice when handling i18n.
    A) How are locales working? I have printed out ${pageContext.response.locale}" and ${pageContext.request.locale}" . Should I work with them when handling localization in an application or is there session object or some other way to do it?
    B) Which is the most elegant way to handle database entries i18n? For example if there is a field DESCRIPTION in a table TASKS, and I would like to show a translation depending on the user's locale. What I have as an idea is to create fields DESCRIPTION_EN, DESCRIPTION_DE, DESCRIPTION_JP... and read the locale from point A) - from page context or better from session and then call the right query and show the passing version. Does this make sense?
    C) As posted earlier the jstl fmt:message works only partly for me. It gets the message from the right bundle but when browser locale is changed it doesn't change to the right bundle. Where could the problem lie?
    Thanks

    IMO any website that tries to automatically i18n based on the locale settings in the request is highly annoying.
    I usually prefer English content because translations suck to my local language, yet I'm almost forced to use a localised operating system because it's very hard to get non-localised versions here.
    Any automatically localised website would present me with a language I don't want, or worse with services I don't want (like Google, which defaults to searching websites in the language it autodetects rather than all sites).

  • What is @Local and @Remote

    I use to think that @Local interfaces are those interfaces that could be called within the same app server JVM and @Remote calls are inter-JVM calls.
    I have a code that doesn't support this. I write my ejb module and deployed it under ejb module of SUn application server. I also wrote a web application module deployed under web application module of the same server but because I did not specify any @Remote interface, the web application will not deploy becuase of a null ejb-ref problem.
    When I added the @Remote Interface, it work.
    This just conflicts my understanding of @Remote and @Local.
    Can anyone throw light on this.
    Regards.
    Michael

    to clarify issues on this --
    I just completed another test on both @Local and @Remote - all in the same JVM
    @Remote
    works fine

  • Problems with answering and making calls

    I have owned a Droid 2 for almost a year now. I love it! But for the last few months I have had a problem with answering and making calls. Sometimes when I answer a phone call it connects like I have answered the call but I can't hear anything and the other person can't hear me. The call says I am connected and I can see the timer going but there is no communication. It does the same thing when I go to make calls sometimes. I can hit send and it connects the call but I can't hear anything. The timer is going and the other person answers but I can't hear anything. The only reason I know they answered is because they then call me back and leave a voicemail, sounding very confused. I have to restart my phone and then the problem is solved. But only for a little bit. I haven't been able to pick out a pattern or anything. It is random and very frustrating. I went into my local Verizon store about the issue and they arranged for me to receive a new, certified pre-owned phone because I pay insurance on my phone. I received the phone the next day and everything went great, for a few days. But this phone is also having the same problem. I am getting very frustrated with this because I need to be able to actually talk to people when they call me. Anyone else having the same problem? I want to go back to the store but I feel like they wouldn't do anything more than they did last time, which didn't solve the problem.

    I have this same issue on a bi-daily basis: I can place a call, but then I hear nothing.  I can answer a call, but I then hear nothing.  The calls connect as the people I am in contact with will tell me they answered my calls and heard me, though I could not hear them - and vice versa.  Also, this phone does not like to place a call using the "call" option if dialing from "recent calls".  I turn this phone on/ off daily, I've taken the battery out on about 50% of the occassions when this issue has happened.  This has been a problem for me for approximately 1yr.  My early renew date is just shy of 2 months from now and I cannot wait to get rid of this phone.  Aside from having great difficulty making/ receiving calls, the phone is overall slow to respond to basic functions like text messaging or using the camera.  Also, most times while taking a picture, the camera will "take a picture" but then there is no image in the file.  Highly annoying - the only way to temporarily fix this is to reboot - but like the call issue, the problem recurs.  I do have a bunch of apps on installed on the phone, but since I also have an APP killer on the phone, nothing aside from "Weather Bug" app is ever really running in the background that would slow this phone.  BUT, right now my main concern is may safety: God forbid I am ever in danger or in an emergency situation, this phone's constant malfunctioning could possibly be the physical harm or death of me.  I hope that my family can sue the company that provides the software for this phone, Verizon & Motorola in the event of my untimely death.

  • I set my cRIO from 'DHCP' to 'link local' and lost contact with it.

    I set my cRIO from 'DHCP' to 'link local' and lost contact with it.
     I changed the setting at the placed labeled "2" to link local only, then I think I hit save at "3".  Then poof, I had no network contact with my cRIO.
    I tried;
        Hitting the reset button
        Opening a closing MAX
        Going to safe mode
        Throwing the Reset IP switch
        Power cycling the cRIO
        Running cat 5 cable directly from the Host to my target
    None of it worked, and I have no contact with my cRIO.
    This is what MAX looks like now.  How can I fix this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Make sure to disable the firewall on your computer.
    Otherwise you can check through the steps in this documentation:
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/ABE4BC247E8AC9BC8625734E005CAB42
    Note specifically that one option is to read the console out from the target VIA the serial port will a null modem cable during boot and it will indicate what IP the system is using.

  • Screen switches off when I dial and hit call button

    When I select a contact from my list n hit call button or dial a number and hit call button the screen switches off even though the call is going on still. For example if I want to give a missed call it is not possible as the screen is going blank. Is there any setting for it?

    Hi Myxperiaz3, welcome t the community!
    I agree with @Quester. If you don't have a case or screen protector on the handset you could try clearing the cache or data for the Phone app by going into Settings > Apps > All > scroll down to Phone > tap Clear cache/data. (Try clearing cache first and if it doesn't work go back and tap clear data and test again). If this doesn't help then follow @Uliwoolys suggestion, here are additional steps on running the repair:
    back up using PC Companion
    1. Go to Support to install PC Companion on a Windows computer.
    2. When installed, start PC Companion on the computer.
    3. Connect your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
    4. Click Start under Backup & Restore.
    5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
    (Exactly what contents will be backed up may differ depending on phone model.
    You can view detailed information about this as you follow the steps in the Backup & Restore wizard).
    back up using Bridge for Mac
    1. Launch Bridge For MAC.
    2. Select "Back up your Xperia device".
    3. Select the data you wish to back up from your device (the windows can be expanded for more detail as below; then select "Next".
    4. The backup will now be in process, do not disconnect the phone while this runs.
    Running the software repair on PC Companion:
    1. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
    2. Phone Software Update.
    3. Start.
    4. Repair Phone
    5. Continue
    6. Accept data removal
    7. Next
    8. Wait for prepare
    9. Select Phone
    10. Follow the connection steps
    Running the software repair on Bridge for Mac:
    1. Launch Bridge for MAC without the handset connected.
    2. On the Main Window select "Xperia > Repair Xperia Device".
    3. Ensure the phone is charged and select "Ok" in the following window.
    4. Select Continue on the following page.
    5. Wait until the initialising step is finished the continue as below.
    6 . Select your model of phone from the list that appears
    7. Follow the connection steps that appear, ensuring that you are holding the relevant button down before during and after the connection phase until the update/repair begins.
    If this still doesn't resolve the issue then I would reccommend contacting your local Sony Xperia Customer Care team asap.

  • IPhone 5s call signal strength is 3 bars and my calls are breaking up?

    I switched from an iPhone 4s to an iPhone 5s and now my iPhone signal strength is 3 bars and my calls are breaking up? what gives?
    I live on top of a hill in a major metropolitan city and my carrier has always been Verizon and my call signal strength has always been 5 bars and occassionally on a cloudy rainy day I had 4 bars. Since upgrading to the 5s my call signal strength at my home has never gone past 3 bars even when Wi-Fi is connected. When W-Fi is turned off and LTE service kicks in, the call signal strength flutters between 2-3 bars and if I am on a call, the person on the other end is telling me I am breaking up.  This has never happened with my iPhone 4, my iPhone 4s.  Is anyone else noticing signal problems?

    I am also having the same exact issue. I had an iPhone 4S with Sprint servince and always had at least 4 bars of service (4 dots after iOS7 upgrade) and I am now fluctuating between 1 and 2 dots on my new iPhone 5S. I am also having people I am on the phone with tell me that I sound like I'm in a tunnel and or that I am breaking up. I am also hearing the breakup of voice service even when speaking to someone on a landline. I took my first iPhone 5S back to the store and traded it in for a new one and am having the same exact problem with this new 5S phone. I was told by the salesman at the store that the problem was due to the 5S is using different towers than the 4S and that the new towers for the 5S were still being implemented. Do I know this to be true or necesarily believe this? No. Do I hope it's true or that Apple will come up with a fix for this problem in the very, very near future? Yes. Apple, what is going on with my service? It's obvious that it's happening to users from all of the major American networks.

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPhone?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
    Also consider deleting and reinstalling the Mail Account in question.
