Local Bonjour Gateway display

Firstly, let me tell you about the setup.
SSID for clients and SSID for Apple TV devices common across all buildings in the campus. Uses 802.1x for clients and PSK for Apple TV devices.
Interface group for the SSID uses multiple vlans for the SSID, so also common across the campus. Interface set up for the Apple TV devices, again common across campus.
Now, what I want to be able to do is, when using Apple TV, only show the local Apple TV devices rather than the list that the controller knows about. Now, potentially we are going to be rolling these out everywhere, so the latter approach is not scalable.
I need a user to go to a room with an Apple TV device and only for it only to show the devices that are nearby, rather than a huge long list of devices on the campus.
Is this possible? Will it require a redesign to split SSIDs/VLANs to a per building basis?

Think I have just found the answer. You need to configure location specific services in the WLC CLI. If you run the following command it should tell you if LSS is enabled or not
show mdns service summary
To enable LSS just run the following
config mdns service lss enable <service-name>
Apparently this uses the RRM DB to filter using the ap neighbor list. Think you need 7.6 though.

Client isolation and the Bonjour gateway on WLC 7.4.1

Hi,
I am considering upgrading our 5508 WLCs to version 7.4.1 to take advantage of the Bonjour gateway. What I want to do is allow clients on our guest wireless network to access things like the Apple TV in our conference rooms. My intention would be to have the Apple TVs on a separate vlan. Obviously, the Bonjour gateway would allow for access between these 2 networks. The question I have is this. If I have client isolation turned on my guest wireless network, is it still possible for these devices to access Apple TVs on another network?

Flash content in local webpages is displayed in small size afther windows 7 update.

Since the latest update of Windows 7 / IE explorer 10 flash content in local webpages is displayed very small in internet explorer. To see the normal size I have to zoom in till 350 %. This occurs on two different laptops. Both have the most recent updates of flash player and Windows 7.
When viewed in Firefox the local content is displayed as ment.

Bonjour Gateway - Airplay / AirServer - Random Disconnects

I am experiencing random disconnects during an Airplay session to AirServer. Airserver disappears from the screen and Airplay session is gone. Here is the details of my setup:
WLC 5508 7.5.102.0
1142n APs
AirServer (1.9.4) installed on wired PCs.
Wireless clients (iOS Devices 7.x and 6.x) use Airplay to mirror to the PCs running AirServer.
APs are in mDNS mode and snooping the vlan the PCs reside in.
Wireless clients in separate BYOD WLAN.
Enabled bonjour gateway and mDNS AP (trunk mode)

Verified via packet capture the client traffic is being marked for QoS (and Gold enabled on BYOD WLAN)
Differentiated Services Field: 0x80 (DSCP 0x20: Class Selector 4; ECN: 0x00: Not-ECT (Not ECN-Capable Transport))
This is an intermittent issue. I can play a YouTube video for 60 mins with no issues sometimes. Sometimes the disconnect happens. WLC mdns error debug output does not look significantly different when the crash happens.
Any thoughts? Similar experience?

Alright, long story short: Got a wirless repeater, set the printer up to connect wireless, now everything works fine, including AirPrint.
Btw.: Even though it says it is not possible, it is actually possible to access the printer via WLAN and LAN (wired) simultaneosly.

WRVS4400N - Local Security Gateway Type - problems

I've setup several VPN gateways and one Cisco gateway to our Juniper SSG140 with no issues, until today. We purchased a WRVS4400N and I'm trying to configure it to connect to our Juniper firewall, as a "dial-up" connection. I can get it to work if I set the "Local Security Gateway Type:" to "IP ONLY", but when I change it to "IP + Domain Name (FQDN) Authentication" it fails with the Cisco router not sending ANY IPSEC messages on the Cisco or Juniper, not even error messages. The last line of the VPN log says "Initiating Agressive Mode #1, connection" and nothing changes even after hitting the "Connect" button on the Cisco router.
The VPN router is Version 2, with firmware 2.0.8 loaded. Not sure if I have a bad Cisco wireless router, or this is by design.

i suggest that you change the local ip address of the RVL200 to 192.168.2.1 instead of using 192.168.0.1. please check also the encryption and the security on both ends of the tunnel. make sure that you use the same encryption and same authentication. you may also want to start with low encryption and security to make sure that it is not the problem.

Bonjour Gateway on 7.4

I work in a k-12 school district and we have around 100 ipads, 10 apple tvs, a half dozen air print capable printers, and about 300 mac computers.
I'm running vwlc 7.4 with fifty 3602i ap's.
I'm unable to get the mdns / bonjour gatway to work. I have it enabled it, added the different services I want, and enabled the profiles on the wlans.
I have followed the guide @ http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/technology/bonjour/Bonjour_DG_Guide.pdf which seems pretty simple.
Is there anything I need to do to my switches? Do I need to enable multicast or pim?
I have the ipads and the apple tvs on the same subnet/vlan. It seems to flap. Sometimes when I try to airplay from a ipad, the apple tvs will show up right away. The next time they won't (this is most of the time).
I also have a imac that has apple remote desktop installed. If the imac is on the wired network, it can pull up all the other computers that are on the wired network with it, but no wireless clients. When I put the imac onto the wireless network along with the other wirless mac's, apple remote desktop does not pull up any clients from either the wired or wireless.
Non of the ipads can see any of the air print pinters on my wired network.
Is there something more I need to do on my switching, or shouldn't the bounjour gateway take care of this?

a) Eliminate Multicast Routing being enabled on Wired side when WLC and AP on different subnet to avoid Multicast capwap routing.

#Multicast mode Multicast is for wireless Multicast traffic efficiency on capwap only(btw WLC to AP) and it doesn't affect the actual Multicast traffic and with mDNS, M-M mode is optional and can also say it is of not much use because only Bonjour Discovery is Multicast and real data connection is P2P tcp unicast.

Retrieve variable value from local Storage and display on canvas

I'm working on a project that has multiple html files (the projects are split into 12 so 12 different edge projects and im linking them via window.open()). I have a variable that keeps track of correct answers stored in LocalStorage html object. I have managed to get the localStorage variable to increment up by one each time the object is correct however my last step is to get the variable and them display the result on the canvas. I have tried

The above is the code for the 12th project in this projects it needs to display the variable inside the object localStorage and display on the canvas.

P.S edge animate has a lot of bugs hard to code in

what you need to do is to create a text box and set a default value of zero. Once that is don't you need a code on the stage which grabs the value form the localStorage object. I used the .text() jquery method to display the value on the canvas. So the zero will be replaced with whatever the value of the localStorage is.
You also need a if statement to check if the localStorage is undefined, if its not then grab the value and display on the canvas.
e.g

Bonjour not displaying messages

We use Bonjour in my office to communicate only within the office. Sometimes (may 20% of the time) I'll send a message, and it won't appear on the other persons computer. We have desktops and laptops, and some may have different OS, but all are 10.4 or 10.5.... Any thoughts? Thanks!

I have two Macs, a G4/1Ghz dual Processor running Leopard and a MacBook Pro 2Ghz also running Leopard.
Obviously they can connect in iChat via Bonjour, if I have iChat open on both.
I would say that sometimes they don't "see" each other and I don't seem to be able to find out why. Nothing has changed it seems on either Mac and I have not changed the routing modem's settings either.
As I have both within hands reach I only test the odd thing now and then with Bonjour in iChat. I have not seen what you report with the Bonjour iChat, other than listed above when they two computers don't seem to find each other for Bonjour Shares either.
I have seen similar in AIM based text chats. This seems to be cured by deleting com.apple.ichat.AIM.plist which then when iChat is restarted force the AIM login to be remade.
There is no equivalent Bonjour .plist connected with the iChat ones.
I would not know which, if any, visible .plist Bonjour is associated with.
The table in this Article http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629 says Bonjour needs port 5353 on the UDP Protocol to be open on a Local Network
iChat adds 5297, 5298 on UDP and 5298 on TCP to this (From this article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1507?viewlocale=en_US)
Some modems and routers have features called DOS (Denial of Service) and SPI (Stateful Packet Inspection) that both work on a threshold basis.
They cut the one port the data level has risen too high. (normally the fact that Video Chats are two way as opposed a a one way Video Stream).
I have not heard of this effecting Local data traffic though.
I can not see that your Bonjour data would peak now and then to create this or that it would reset itself.
You could ask in this forum http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=1222 where some people may know more about the finer workings of Bonjour itself.

Messed up locale- trying to display Hebrew file names +English int

This morning I did a fresh installation of Arch-X86_64/KDE 4.8.
Being in Israel, I'd like to display (some) Hebrew file names in Hebrew characters (but keep the user interface in US English!), both in KDE and in the terminal.
I couldn't achieve this, and probably messed up my locale:

Multiple locales problem ---labels display incorrectly

Hi, we get a problem as we try to get the internationalization support for our helpset. The Labels, for example, can not be correctly displayed if we change the language option in Internet Explorer from english to Italian. "Switch Books" would always be displayed as german language , also "index", "content"... But if we check cabo/images/cache directory, we can only find an "en" subdirectory, nothing else.
Is it necessary to configure some files to get this support? or its automaticlly supported? by the way we have included the ohw-2.0.1.0.jar file in WEB-INF/lib

It should be automatically supported. Some questions/comments:
1. Do you have a german locale helpset that matches the locale used by the browser? OHW will only change the UI if it can find a matching helpset. This is to ensure the helpset and UI are in the same language.
2. Second, you can force OHW to use a particular locale (with the condition above) by adding locale=en_US (or some other IANA code) as another request paramter. You can try this to make sure your browser settings were not incorrect the last time you tried.

External gateway display

I have a gateway FPD 1500 monitor that I'm trying to use as an externals display for my Mac book pro with retina display (highest specs offered)
I purchased two adapter on amazon to connect the monitor to one of the thunderbolt ports on the computer
One of the adapters is a thunderbolt to DVI-D single link female
The other is a DVI male to DFP receptical adapter
Both specifically say that they work with both Mac and PC
I rigged it up, connected the 24 volt power supply to the monitor, which was working fine for many years on an old PC
I plugged it into the computer and the screen flashed blue on the mac for a minute like it should and then it went back to the way it was before like nothing had happened
The light on the gateway monitor turned solid amber after turning green for a split second after plug in
I am already using a 22 inch Samsung tv for an external monitor and I thought it would be nice to use the gateway too

Hi,
It didn't detect the display properly. I played around with switchres X and tried to manually adjust the settings but that didn't work either. I have since realized that I will be better off using my other mac connected through the DVI connection on my monitor since I use that for photoshop work. That may change when the universal binary of photoshop comes out though.
Currently I am waiting for my VGA adapter to come in. So, no, I don't have the problem solved yet, I'm afraid. I am hoping that when my VGA adapter comes in that will work. If it doesn't I will have to take further action to get this fixed and deal with Apple Care.
JMF - are you using the same Gateway monitor? Curious to know if I am just doing something wrong. If you find out a way to get it to work, please let me know.

F8Pro - local variables not displayed in debugger - flashlocalvars.zip (0/1)

Im not sure if this is me doing something stupid but I have

playing round with classes and noticed that in the debugger,

variables are no longer displayed in the debugger after
returning from
a custom class get method. I have managed to work round this
behaviour for a while but Im now stuck.
