How do I get a local help library for Lightroom 5.4 on a pc that is not connected to the internat?

TRYING TO SYNC A SHARED LIBRARY WITH LOCAL ITUNES LIBRARY - PLEASE HELP

Hi. I am so desperate. I have not been able to update my iPod for 6 months and am about to go OS and would love to download all my recent music.
The prob is that all our music is in a Shared iTunes library (called iTunes server, on my husband's computer. We are networked). There is not much in my local iTunes library. I am trying to drag all the music from the Shared iTunes library into my local iTunes library but am having no luck.
Does anyone know how I can make my local iTunes library reflect what's in our shared library? Once I work that out then we can do the same and update my husband's local iTunes library, which is where I update my iPod from (since mine is a work computer and has no USB access). Thanks alot if you can help... DESPERATE

When iTunes Match is is on, you don't sync music or playlists with your computer.

CS5 local help files

I understand how the Community help application can download local help files but I'm on dial-up at home and the Photoshop local help file, for example, shows as over 27 MB. The PDF version here: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/index.html is 40 MB. I have access to a broadband connection away from home and could download to a flash drive. Questions: are local help files available for manual download? If so, where and how? Once downloaded, where would they be stored in a typical Windows installation so that they'd be available when I choose Help and choose the local help option? Or, put another way, where does the Adobe Help application store them once downloaded and decompressed?

Can't say I've tried what you're trying, but I was looking for the location of the downloaded help (because I prefer to view it in my browser) and found your question in my searching.

Local help system in Mountain Lion?

Recently upgraded to ML from Snow Leopard. Whenever I request help it downloads it from the internet; no local help is available. This includes accessories, like Safari, Notes, etc. I did some cleaning of the caches in ~/Library, as sugested by an internet posting, but no results.
My problem is that I don't have a continuous connection to the internet; besides, there is the delay of dawnloading the info every time I request it.
Machine: MB Air, late 1210 model
OS X 10.8.1

Keep local iPhoto Library in sync over NAS

Hi every one
Here's my usecase: I want use ONE iPhoto Library with 3 Mac's and 2 Useraccounts. Why ONE library? Because i want work on Albums etc. on my stationary iMac in Room1, and finish it on my MacBook pro while sitting on my sofa :-) It also can be, that my wife will work on the same Album too. Of course not at the same time, but i don't want to tell her if the Library is available at the moment, or if I've already opended iPhoto on another Mac. It has to be automatically "locked" if someone is using it. Easy, just put the whole thing on a NAS and you got this effect automatically. Correct, but the speed isn't really nice. Why buying an i7 iMac with Fusion drive and using a NAS as source while working on photos...? Got it? (sorry for my poor english, i'm swiss but doing my best :-) )
Here's my solution approach I would like to have: (sorry a little confuse...)
My i7 iMac has a local iPhoto library. A "sync software" keeps the iPhoto library in sync with a mirrored version on a NAS, (wich can be a Timecapsule as well as any other NAS). when I open iPhoto on my iMac, it has to lock the whole iPhoto library on my NAS as well, so my wife can't open the library on my NAS while I'm using it local on my iMac. After i close my iPhoto on my iMac, the mirrored Library is available on my NAS where i can use it with my MacBook Pro directly from my NAS. The "sync software" has to lock the file in the other direction, so i can't open my local Library on my iMac at this time. When i close iPhoto on my macBook Pro it will be unlocked and the sync software on my iMac will update my local copy automatically the next time that i start my iMac and (surprise surprise) my local version is up to date!
You see my point? The clou is to lock the library on another place while using it's mirrored version. That helps preventing any corrupt iPhoto Librarys becaus of two user at the same time and you don't have any performance inconvenience.
Advanced version would be to habe many Mac's with local iPhoto librarys. It would still be the same: If it's not possible to use a Library at the same time, you wan't have any problemes with de database... right? There would be one problem: If you work on a local iPhoto library while you're not connected with your nas, you wan't have informations about the "lock" status... but that's another story-
I tried "synk pro" which keeps folders and documents "realtime" in sync. But it works really bad with NAS and my problem with the "lock" is still there.
Folks: Any ideas to share with me? I just wan't to have a SAVE iPhoto library to work on it with my wife an our 3 Mac's ;-)

iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
This is particularly the case now that iPhoto uses the same library as Aperture:

it is strongly recommended that the Aperture library be stored on a locally mounted hard drive. Storing the Aperture library on a network share can also lead to poor performance, data corruption, or data loss.
What do you mean by "Sync".
The general term means when two Libraries (A and B) are compared and files in Library A are copied to Library B, while files in Library B are also copied to Library A so that both Libraries are identical.
This is bi-directional copying and you cannot do this automatically with iPhoto. No Syncing software is capable of parsing the iPhoto Library in this manner. One or both of your Libraries will be damaged if you try this.
You can have uni-directional copying - files in Library A are copied to Library B - this is essentially backing up. Obviously you can also copy from Library B to Library A.
The nearest you can get to syncing is to use iPhoto Library Manager to move files/Albums/Events plus associated metadata between Libraries. This process cannot be automated.

I cannot stream video from my local public library on my iPad Air 2 using Overdrive Media Console

Media Console App. I can stream videos on my older iPad 1st generation. Anyone else

The app gives you instructions to browse to the Overdrive site and put in your Zip Code. You can do this from Safari on the iPad. When you find your local library, you will be asked to log in with your Library Card and PIN. When you select compatible content, the Overdrive app will automatically launch, where it will give you the ability to download content segments, or even all segments. It will also help you keep track of when the book will expire etc. The books are broken up into many segments so that you can manage how much content is stored on your iPad. I did this just this morning, and downloaded 8 of 38 segments of the book 2666.

Questions about using skins in online and local help

Caveat: I'm a very new RoboHelp users, somewhat self-taught, so my questions may be very rudamentary, but I can't quite find them in the (very meager) Adobe help.
In a previous version of the Help (created by my predecessor), the local Help (.chm) looked like this, i.e., no skins:
The online Help looked like this--i.e., it had the skin:
First question: why doesn't the local help have the skin? Is this a setting?
Second question: In a newer version of the help that I created, both versions of help look like the local Help above--no skins. How do I make the skins display?
Third question: We localized to French. When I open FR online Help and right-click a help topic (to open in a new tab) the page displays as below, with the "Montrer" standing in for what is "< Show Contents" in English (see below). This content is incorrect in French, and should be "Afficher le sommaire" ("Show Summary").
Where do I find the source for this piece of content, so that I can correct it? I've looked in the skins file, but didn't see anything that would qualify.

Oh, and the default file I select is the one that is automatically opened, yes? So at least that's going right.
Inside your help, you have a few folders with topics inside each folder. So if you just issue the basic http://www.somesite.com URL, all you get is the default topic. But you want Topic13.htm which happens to be inside folder C. Now you could link directly as inhttp://www.somesite.com/Help/FolderC/Topic13.htm and that would present Topic13.htm but it would not have the frameset (skin) surrounding it. Instead, it would likely have a "Show" link. And when the user clicked the Show link, the full frameset would appear and Topic13.htm would then be loaded in the topic pane.
To make this happen with a basic link, the URL would look like this:
http://www.somesite.com/Help/Index.htm#Folder C/Topic13.htm
And this refers to the remote help, not the local CHM, yes?
Historically, I just give them the location of the files, i.e, they're at: http/onlinehelp.companysite.com/help/productname/version/language/mjwin_help.htm (which is the name we've been using, though I will someday want to change that as it references an older version of the brand ... but first things first).
I ran a test in which I I generated and posted the files to the correct location on the server (and identified the default topic I wanted in the SSL). I sent this exact URL to the developer to include in this morning's build. According to what you have indicated, since I'm not asking the Help to do anything but open up to the default topic, I should get a) the default topic and b) the skins.
I did not get this result.
Could there be something going on on the developer end? I ask this because I had problems with Map IDs, which turned out to be that they weren't telling me that some UI elements called context-sensitive help and therefore those pages needed to be linked to the correct map ID. (Like me, some of the members of that department are new to their positions ...)

Help library installation in SAP R/3 4.7

Hi All,
I have installed Help library in my server and added the path in SR13- under new entries and given the path of EN.
But when I open the SAP Library it is showing the following error
Could not find file "10.121.4.36\EN\e18e5134\1a06084d\e1000000\9b38f83b\frameset.chm" For details please check the entries in the file SAPDOCCD.LOG in the windows directory.
Can anyone please tell me how to proceed in order to access help library

No local help files for Photoshop CS6 extended

Hi
I wish to use local help files for Photoshop CS6 but only online support is available. Local files are not listed under the Adobe Help preferences. The option to search only local rather than online help is greyed out. I found and downloaded a PDF with of the help files but don't know where to install it or if this is possible. I have CS 5 Creative Suite and this works fine giving the option of local or online help when accessed.
Is there a way to install and use local help files in photoshop CS6?

Hi and thanks for directing me to that article, it should have done the trick. I am using mac mountain lion 10.8.5.
The help system has always operated oddly - I have Photoshop cs6 but also the cs5 master suite installed. CS5 works fine but Photoshop cs6 only gives the option for online help and then directs me to the CC site. There is no simple listing for just Photoshop help in the help menu - presumably as it is not seeing it installed
I tried various configurations in the article, having to set up the folders they suggested. In my case, in a variety of alternative places as I have a boot up volume with the documents folder moved onto a RAID array so the Shared folder is not in the documents folder but in Users on the boot drive. So - confusing - but tried all the likely candidates and folder configurations/locations while following the instructions as closely as possible. Even tried an documents folder alias to redirect the program to the alternative path way.
At least now I have the PDFs and can look through them outside the adobe interface. The problem with the community site being questions regarding photoshop alone, yield answers for all sort of other issues and programs.

How to use online help instead of local help files?

I know that if I am looking for help in Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, I can hit F1 or go to Help -> Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Help...
However, I do not like that doing that sends me to the limited help files that are stored on my local drive. I would like that link to default to the online help.
Is there any way to do that?
The real reason I want to do this is because I use Mozilla Firefox and tightly control the cookies that sites save on my computer. For sites that I trust, I simply add them to the whitelist. However, I am unable to add file:///C:etc.etc. to my whitelist, so I have to approve 5-8 cookies every time I go to another page within the help files. This is extremely annoying.
In regards to this local help default over internet help, Adobe has said:
The Help menu within the product opens local Help, a subset of the content available in online product Help. Because local Help is not as complete or up-to-date as online product Help, Adobe recommends that you use the PDF version of product Help if you want to stay off-line.
But what if I don't want to use the "subset of the content available in online product Help" and prefer to simply go to the online product Help just like every other Adobe CS4 product?

You could add a custom menu item to the Help menu that executes the following line of code:

Local help content adobe premiere and elements 10

I usually check for adobe help updates (local content) once a week! There was an update to adobe premiere elements 10 this week. However, when I clicked update, it did something but instead of saying current, it said intergration pending. Nomatter what I did it remained pending. At this time I had over 100mb's of local content all together. I decided to uninstall AIR, uninstall Adobe Help.AIR and delete the folder in the USER/DataAppData/Roaming folder and then reinstall them back. When I clicked Adobe Help, It redownloaded all the local content but only 61.8mb's and it now it says that Adobe Photoshop Element 10 and Adobe Premiere 10 are "Not Available." All the other Adobe apps local help content says, "Current." Can anyone explain what's going on?
