Local host alias with 2 domains?

Hi!
I want 2 domains to use the same mailboxes/users. A simple domain-alias if you will. Mail sent to [email protected] and [email protected] should be delivered to the same mailbox ([email protected]).
Have read about virtual hosts etc but it seems to complex, isn't there an easy way to just alias the domain?
Btw, I got it to work by adding the second domain in serveradmin/mail/hosts and then adding the second adress to the user in WGM, but i dont want to have to do that with all the users. And its highly likely that its forgotten when creating new users
Using 10.5.2 Server.

Just add the second domain as a local host alias.
You do not need to add the domain part to your users in WGM. Be it for the first be it for the second domain. This is only needed for virtual domains.

I hope this is within the scope of this forum. It's probably more of a WP than DW topic but I have found this forum to be very helpful on a wide scope of general web design/build topics so here goes.
I have a static html/css web site created with DW. I've got it as a local site on my computer and also have it uploaded to a remote host server (fatcow). It's using a temporary domain/address while under development and will replace an exisitng site when completed.

I want to be able to work on a copy of the blog "offline" on my local computer.
So I have xampp installed and it is working correctly on the C drive of my computer. Next I copied my entire local site folder into a folder under the htdocs/xampp. So Next I copied the folder I created that contains the wordpress install from the remote host at fatcow (I named it "blog"), and pasted it into my local install. So now I have localhost/xampp/prospect-blog-test/blog.

geez, I was editing the post above but got an error and it didn't save my edits and left out the problem. so here's the trouble.
After trying what I described above I made a new install of all of the WP files and put it here localhost/xampp/prospect-blog-test/. did this just to "start from scratch" Planning to export the WP files from the fatcow host and import into new local host install. I type localhost/xampp/prospect-blog-test into my browser and the WP splash screen appears and askis about creating the config file. First step is to specify the database. That's where I am having trouble.
Using mySQL on the fatcow host and following the seemingly simple instructions on the WP codex I export the database .sql file. Then I go to mySQL on my local host and try to import the .sql file.
I am getting the following error message.

Host lookup with full domain fails

Hi,
we have a couple of Macs that live in a Windows Active Directory domain. They are not part of the domain (i.e. joined), but they get their DHCP config from the Active Directory Controller (ADC). The active directory has the name "company.local" (in reallife the company name dot local).
Since updating to Yosemite we have found that host lookups using the full domain name no longer works, example:
# This work
ping wifi-controller
# This doesn't work
ping wifi-controller.company.local
The main problem with this is that all links on the intranet (that are using FQDN) is now broken for Mac users...
# Doing name lookups with host both works
# 192.168.x.y is the ADC
host wifi-controller 192.168.x.y
host wifi-controller.company.local 192.168.x.y
The ADC gives out the domain name "company.local" and itself as DNS.
I have cleared out all manually entered entries in Network Control Panel and the search domain and DNS server listed are not possible to delete from the list. No WINS entered. On the first "page" of the Network panel, DNS and domain is displayed in gray under the DHCP info picked up.
Any help greatly appreciated,

the ADC needs needs to have dns records for itself and for any client wishing to bind to it.
I would start by checking the AD machine and make sure his dns is working, and have the clients use the same.
Verify NTP settings on both.

Local Host Alias Vacation Filter

Folks
As it currently stands anyone sending emails to [email protected] or [email protected], gets a vacation rule response. However anyone sending to [email protected] does not. With leopard and sieve this wasn't an issue, but now with Snowy it no longer works a expected. I have found the script files (/var/spool/imap/dovecot/sieve-scripts/GUID) and sure enough, only the [email protected]; [email protected] show up. Other than editing the script file, that will be overwritten by wiki each time, how do I solve this? I am don't want to implement Virtual Hosting, because these are all the same people, just different domains.

I believe you need to use postfix style alias instead of Mac OS X style alias for this to function the way you desire.
I don’t think they have updated the guide for 10.6.x server (actually, I don’t think they need to since its still just postfix anyway); Topicdesk has a writeup about this and a tutorial. The article has a section on how to create postfix style alias but the beginning talks about how to use OS X style alias in conjunction with postfix style alias.

Problems running asp pages on windows 7 IIS local host

Hi,
I've just put DW CS5 onto my new Windows 7 machine, and am having problems trying to run asp pages on the IIS local host. With DWmx and windows XP I had no problems, but with the new DW and the new operating system - W7 - it's impossible!
I fill in the all the basics, and am able to set up a remote local site in the wwwroot folder under a new file I have created called "websites". However I keep getting an error 401.3 Unauthorized message in IE9 when trying to view the site I'm working on locally.
It suggests that I check the ACLs for the file that is being requested, which I have done and have given all the files full permissions - but I still get the same message.
I'm going to a trade fair where I can't connect the interet, so I have to find a way of showing my site on my local machine.
Has anyone had this problem with the new version of IIS for W7 and asp pages - and can anyone help? I'm desperate!!

I have given all the files in the IIS folder - including the website folder all the permissions necessary, but I still get this!
This is the IIS app and what I have set up...
Am I doing the right thing here?

10.4.3 Local Host Aliases vs. Locally Hosted Virtual Domains

We had been running 10.4.1 for about eight months with no problems.
1) Under the Local Host Aliases setting in Server Admin (Mail, Settings, Advanced. Hosting) we had only "localhost" listed. All the other virtual domains we hosted email for were listed under Locally Hosted Virtual Domains.
2) We added all mail users via WGM and only listed one shortname without the "@domainname.com" suffix. I.E. "user1".
3) All mail account aliases are handled by editing the /etc/postfix/virtualaliasmaps.
A few weeks ago, we upgraded to 10.4.3. All mail was being rejected with an unknown user message. Checking forums around the net, we saw a post which suggested that all domains previously listed only under Locally Hosted Virtual Domains should also be added under Local Host Aliases for 10.4.3 via Server Admin.
We did this and all mail began working OK as before the upgrade. However we are getting log entry warnings everytime an email is processed:
postfix/trivial-rewrite[3921]: warning: do not list domain oneofourdomains.com in BOTH mydestination and virtualmailboxdomains
I'd like to straighten this out so everybody is happy and no more log warnings occur.
However, we don't want to:
1) remove the virtual domains from the Locally Hosted Virtual Domains entries and have them only under Local Host Aliases since there are mail aliases with the same name under different domains, and
2) we don't want to have to go into WGM and add a domain suffix to each shortname
Does anyone know what changed between 10.4.1 and 10.4.3 and why? More importantly, how do we best go about correcting this situation. Or is this an Apple bug that will be fixed in the future and we can live with the log warnings until then?
We've searched all the posts in different forums and haven't seen anything that addresses this problem directly.

Hyper-V host fails with "RPC Server unavailable" error when I try to promote Windows Server in virtual machine to a domain controller

There wasn't any configuration information, ipconfig /all, network setup, etc. So it's difficult to tell.
More importantly, are you trying to promote the host server? If yes, that is not advised, for one, because it's a Hyper-V server, (not suggested at all), and two, RRAS is installed. RRAS is problematic with any domain controller because it turns it into
a multihomed domain controller.

I don't know how your networking is setup, whether there are multiple NICs on the host server, if they are teamed, if you have the host interface set to allow the operating system to share administration, or if there are separate interfaces for each. Can
the host OS ping/communicate with the DC virtual machine?
If there are more than one NIC, you have the choice to team the NICs and share the Teamed NICs for the Hyper-V OS and the VMs, or keep them separate where one is devoted for the Hyper-V OS, and one for the VMs.

Problems hosting iWeb with domain name.

I have a business web site that I host with iWeb08 using a domain name. I had the domain name working perfectly with iWeb. I would log on to my web site via my domain name and all my content was there as I expected. Whenever I upload a new addition to the web site I always click "view published site" which is taking me to http://web.me.com/username/pages and everything is there as I expected it. Recently, I went to my web site via my domain name and realized that all my recent updates are not being hosted online (with domain name). web.me is fine though. I checked the registration on my domain name and it is active. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Are you using url forwarding? If so, perhaps you changed your mobile me site in a way that requires you to change your forwarding as well.
Could you provide both urls so we can see the differences you are talking about?

Under the File menu in iWeb there is a option called "Publish to Folder"
That folder will contain all the HTML files, etc necessary to create your webpage.
You will then upload (FTP) the contents of that folder to your host.
There are several FTP programs available including Yummy, CyberDuck, etc... are you familiar with FTP'ing?

Assigning ip address to local host with 2 interfaces

I am a newbie, so please forgive me for any mistakes. My linux operating system has an ethernet interface which is already set to an ip by default to 20.20.1.2 I use the following command to assign a random ip addr to the ath0 interface
ifconfig ath0 192.170.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 up
Now, we have 2 ip address assigned to the local host.
When I use the foll. statement InetAddress.getLocalHost().getHostAddress(), I get the ethenet ip addr which is 20.20.1.2
I want to somehow bind the localhost to the ip address assigned to the ath0 interface.
My initial /etc/hosts file on boot up is :
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts
and the /etc/network/interfaces file is:
auto lo eth1
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth1 inet dhcp
I have already read all the posts in this forum relating to InetAddress, and from what I understood I tried a few things like manually assigning this new ip addr to the local host name in /etc/hosts file (which works only partially in the sense that the statement does return the ath0 ip 192.170.1.1 but when I try to ping the local host by name from another machine it still shows that the local host is bound to the ethernet ip 20.20.1.2) and also tried changing the /etc/network/interfaces file so that it also includes the ath0 interface but none of them seem to work.
Any help in this matter is highly appreciated.

i am facing the problem SVSVOL folder replication, i also checked dcdiag and result is DFSRevent fail .
in event log i found the event Error:
The DFS Replication service stopped replication on the folder with the following local path: C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain. This server has been disconnected from other partners for 173 days, which is longer than the time allowed by the MaxOfflineTimeInDays parameter
(61). DFS Replication considers the data in this folder to be stale, and this server will not replicate the folder until this error is corrected.
To resume replication of this folder, use the DFS Management snap-in to remove this server from the replication group, and then add it back to the group. This causes the server to perform an initial synchronization task, which replaces the stale data with fresh
data from other members of the replication group.

Send connector with smart host redirection for particular domain

Hello,
We have quite big environment with Ex2007 CCR cluster with 2x CAS/HUB and 2x Edge servers with few accepted authoritative domains for several countries. Currently all mails from these are routed through one send connector.
We're moving to a different mail filtering service and I wanted to setup one of our domains to send through the new service to get it all setup and working correctly before moving the other domains over to it.
So i have configured dedicated new custom send connector ( in accordance with techent article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998814%28v=exchg.80%29.aspx) for one of our domains let's say contoso.com with priority 1, and in next step i have
entered smart host ip's and at the end source servers (2x edge servers).
I have spotted that mail would still not send through my new send connector for those with email addresses with that domain. I turned on verbose logging but still all emails are not going through new connector. I checked that changes were replicated succesfully
on Edge servers and I restarted on Cas/Hub machines "EdgeSync" service but still no luck.
Please help me did I forgot to check/change something?

Let me be sure I understand how you have your new send connector configured, so I don't give you the wrong information. You said you configured the new send connector with the contoso.com email domain. From how you said it, though ("one of
our domains"), it appears that email domain is one of your internal email domains. If this is the case, this is why this send connector isn't being used - the send connector will send only to those email domains listed in the address
space tab. If I am right, it will never send to any external recipients with an contoso.com email address - those mailboxes are internal. If you have an external SMTP domain in that list (such as hotmail.com), you should see messages sent to recipients
on that system through this connector.
If I am not right in how I read your posting, let me know so we can figure out how to get your send connector working properly.

Auto Sync Files not working with Local Host

I am developing a site locally and testing on a local host. I have my working files in Adobe cloud and then 'upload' to my local host to test.
This works fine when I click upload, or control+shift+u, but its extremely annoying.
I have checked the box that says 'automatically upload files to server on save' but it doesn't do it.
The only thing I can think of it that it has to be an actual live server? Nothing else can explain it. My setting are fine and like I said, doing it manually works no problem.
I have the most recent version of DW CC
