Local Move - Can't Move Phone Number?

We moved less than 2 miles, and are told that our home number cannot be moved to the new adress. Can't imagine a "geographic area" definition that would make this not eligible for Local Number Portability....any other ideas?

ask the reps where the central office is located for both of the numbers. (the one u have now and the one they're trying to give you)
If its less than 2mi, you should be in the same CO (central office) and it should move just fine.
If it IS switching CO's then thats why you cant keep ur old #.

How do I get Verizon to move on my old phone number message

It has been over a week, 2 hours on the phone with verizon (yes 2 hours) and many promises to put the proper, "... the new number is ..." rather than the incorrect "... this line is no longer in service or disconnected". I stayed with verizon rather than go to a local carrier so that mistakes like this would not happen, but I am continuing to get the run around and being passed from one phone number to another. I am sorry about the inconvenience and confusion. Please tell me exactly what you need. Is your phone being ported? Do you have Fios service? Did you move from one location to another? When you say "move on my old phone number message" what do you mean?

I am planning on getting my cell phone number ported to Skype? Is this possible?
I am in the United States. Also, can I port it back to a cell phone provider later?

while logged into the admin account, move the entire iTunes folder from <MacintoshHD>/users/<whatevername>/music to a public (shared) folder on your Mac, then log out.
log into the standard user account and move the iTunes folder from the public folder to <MacintoshHD>/users/<whatevername>/music and replace the iTunes folder existing there.

Moving house can't keep phone number

So I'll be moving house soon and I'm trying to organise moving my phone, tv and broadband to the new place.
The trouble I'm having is that when filling in the online form it says that not only will I need a new line installed and can't keep my phone number but I won't get all the channels I get just now (standard Vision package).
The new place has had a BT line and is only up the road a bit from where I am just now.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? From what it says before I start filling in the form I should be able to move everything without charge as long as the new place doesn't need a line installed. Which the new place shouldn't need as it was a BT line before.

Have you checked the line in the new property works? If not it'll need to be connected which is normally chargeable.

How can I change phone number in Contact List in IOS 7?

After upgrading to IOS 7, I cannot change the front IDD number.
Whenever I tried to ''backspace"/"X" the number, it duplicates and keep on duplicate the new number I typed.
For Example hte original number is: 1666-0044-123456
and I want to change to 0060-0044-123456
then I 'blackspace" numbers before "1666", and type "0060'", then it duplicates to " 00600060"
everytime it duplicates numbers i typed.
When I tried to delete the whole number, the phone stopped working.
How can I do?

The iPad uses the user's email address, not a phone number, for iMessage. Go here on the iPad:
Settings -> Messages
and change the Send and Receive setting to her email address rather than yours.

IMessage: Can not verify phone number

I can login to iMessage using my AppleID, but not my phone number. It keeps saying "Waiting for activation".
I have tried these without any luck:
1. Hard reset : home + power button
2. Reset the network configuration
3. Turn off and on again iMessage
Any one having the same problem?

Hi there,
Your phone number field name doesn't match any of the BC's phone number fields. You have name="PhoneNumber" there, but BC names are name="HomePhone" and name="CellPhone".
Try reinserting that form onto a page and submitting it.

IPad can't use phone number

My iPad can't use my phone number to send iMessage with after update to 6.1.3. I have tried turning it of and back on again but i can only choose my email to send/recieve from.
Does anyone know what is wrong and how i can fix it?

Read this kb article and make sure that you go to the very end of the article to find out what to do. You might have to sign out of Messages on all of your iDevices in order to link the iPhone number back to Messages on the iPad. You should be able to do that if you follow the steps at then end.

Can't reactivate phone number

I am trying to reactivate a phone number for one of the users in my Skype Manager.
When I click Buy as part of the reactivation process, I am taken to a page that says
"Service Unavailable", and says come back in a few minutes. This has been true for 24 hours now. HELP!

How can I get phone number contacts to transfer?

I read the user guide, backed up my phone list numbers from my old phone, but found that directions to transfer the phone numbers did not work on my iphone 4. Grrrrr! What I read in the instructions does not match what I see on the screen. Also, Apple's use of the word "contacts" is used to apply to both email addresses (which did transfer easily) and phone number contacts (which did not). This can be confusing.
Has anyone transferred a phone list from their previous "dumb" phone (backup assistant enabled) to an iphone4 (not backup assistant friendly).

I'm very sorry to hear about your lack-of-success from the Backup Assistance feature that Verizon Wireless offers. I've also had a horrible experiences with that feature on the iPhone 4 and it just seems to make it a regret of getting a new phone, haha!
Just to ensure not a further headache, have you checked online to make sure all of your contacts are successfully stored on the Backup Assistance?

Your cell phone number will be grayed out under You can be reached by iMessage at - that can't be deselected on an iPhone with iMessage. If your phone number is grayed out and can't be selected under Start new conversations from, that is likely due to the waiting for iMessage activation problem.

Go into Settings, turn FaceTime off. Power the phone off/on. Go back into Settings, turn on FaceTime and let it activate. The phone number comes from the SIM and the activation message. It should populate the correct number.

Can't transfer phone number!!!

I'm currently a sprint customer and I'm trying to transfer my number to AT&T in the initial stage of setting up my iphone and I get the message:
"the phone number you entered cannot be transfered. You must uncheck the transfer number option and clear the information in the text fields to continue"
I've done it 20 times now and checked my account number etc. more than a few times....

AT&T will say you cannot transfer your phone number if your old phone number is in a different service area than your current location/billing address. HOWEVER, there is a workaround.
On the first screen of the activation step, you'll need to enter your old billing zip (i.e. a zip code that matches the area code of your current phone number). Later in the process you'll be able to enter your correct billing address.

On your next phone maybe you should consider a case like Otterbox Defender. I dont think you have used one prior given the bad luck you've had. They really help against drops and should provide good protection against water damage. It's not suitable to dunk in a pool but common occurrences like rain and splashes. There are other quality manufacturers that make similar cases if you don't like the style.
