Local Multiplayer options

What is the best way to set up a multiplayer environment if all that I would need is 2-player with people in close proximity (same room for example). Is there any way to reliably have some sort of device-device connection via an ad-hoc wi-fi or is a game-server approach recommended even for such close proximity two-player scenarios. thanks.

Thanks, I will look into those. Is one of them the preferred way to go over the other if applicable? I'll look into it on my own right now; but if you think of any tutorial/doc that is ideal please let me know. It would be nice if there was some sample code out there that has the simplest kinda two player game possible so I can learn by example. Thanks again.

    i want to reinstall os X yosemite on my macbook Air but i erased the hard drive and i cant get the local recovery option; only internet recovery; is there any way to go back and get local recovery option?

    Hi Bockworld1,
    I'm afraid you did an error when erasing your hard-drive, this has automatically erased the "local recovery". In order to pass-by this, you must use a former Mac OS X installation DVD (such as Snow Leopard 10.6.3) and then when updated to 10.6.8 you may access the Mac App Store to recover the Yosemite Installer and proceed to a fresh "update" OR creating a Bootable USB Installation drive with DiskMaker in order to alway get a installation copy.
    I also suggest you to create a USB Basic Operating System (you must select a local USB device to install Yosemite or whatever OS you want) with only the base operating system to launch your computer in case of Main Operating System issues.
    Given the amounts of issues reported by users with 10.10.2, I command you to download 10.10.2 version to get a stable OS working.
    Let me know how it is going.
    Good Luck.

  • Local Sync option for LR mobile

    I want to ask Adobe to provide a local sync option between LR and LR Mobile. Going through the cloud each time is both slow and wasteful.
    I, like many other have a monthly limit on my data allowance for uploading and downloading, synching through the cloud all the time uses up this allowance, additionally it is slow, it took me about 8 hrs to sync 1500 pics.
    Please provide a local sync option for IPad, either by cable, or preferably, Local WIFI or even bluetooth.
    Stop the waste and make it faster.

  • ECL Viewer - Save to local file option grey out

    Hello Experts,
    We have ECL viewer installed version 5.1.3 with SAP GUI 710 - 7100.2.7.1038.
    But, option under viewer --> save to local file  is grey out, how to enble this option.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi all,
    in case the ECL Viewer is used in the ArchiveLink or GOS area the 'Save to local file' is not available.
    Basically it is possible to save the displayed document via the
    ECL Viewer menu in a local file. In DMS the users can go via the
    ECL Viewer menu 'Viewer -> Save to Local File' and create a local
    copy on this PC.
    This functionality, however, is not possible if the file is stored
    using the ArchiveLink. This is a restriction from the ArchiveLink
    application.
    If you are willing to do a modification just change the following
    coding within the constructor of class CL_DV_VIEWER_CONTROL_ECL.
    call method ecl_viewer->create_toolbar
          EXPORTING
      *     CLOSE_BUTTON      =
            TOOLS             = 'X'
            VIEWER            = 'X'
            NAVIGATION        = 'X'
            OPTIONS           = 'X'
            VIEWER_OPENFILE   = ' '
    *       VIEWER_SAVEFILE   = ' '         "<   delete
            VIEWER_SAVEFILE   = 'X'         "<   insert
            TOOL_MEASUREMENT  = ' '
            REMOVE_DOCUMENT   = ' '
            VIEWER_CLOSEFILE  = ' '
            TOOL_COMPARE      = 'X'
            TOOL_STAMP        = ' '
    If you are not willing to do a modification, it is even possible
    to make a copy of the whole class, change the coding within the
    copy, and make use of the copy by adding the according entries
    in table SDV_VCL_MIME_C (see SAP note 726158).
    For further question on this scenario I would kindly ask you to contact
    your local consulting organisation because in the standard this
    'Save as local file' is not available for ArchiveLink files.
    Best regards,
    Christoph

  • Offline/Local Activation option/tool for when the cloud servers are gone ?

    I hope that someone in HP will release a tool to allow to all the phones / tablets to activate locally, to be used once the online services are gone.
    Providing a copy of the online Help that's accessible from phone/tablet would also be very appreciated.
    You took our money, and I think we are entitled to be able to use the hardware we bought until it works.
    I would like to see an official answer, and I think that all the users of webosnations share the same interest.

    even if I was contacted privately from an executive support representative, I have still to get an official answer to what I originally asked/wrote.
    Given that the 15th of January is closer now ( close to two months were lost, up to now ), I would appreciate the option of having a constructive dialogue with an hp representative that is actually knowing what webos and the online servers are.
    That you cannot find someone on the phone at HP support who is knowledgeable about webOS, is not surprising.  HP ceased active support for webOS (other than keeping Cloud Services and support downloads alive) in 2011.
    You have options from the webOS developer and user community.  There is a wealth of information and assistance available from http://www.webosnation.com and http://www.webos-internals.org including options to backup your device without the webOS servers after January 15.
    No one feels your pain and anxiety any more than we (WyreNut and I) do.  HP made a decision to shut down the servers because the active user base does not justify the cost.  I don't personally understand what those costs are, but I do believe what I have been told about it, and honestly, your energies are better spent using the remaining time to plan going forward without beating a dead horse (webOS Cloud Services).

  • Local Database Options for Windows Store Apps

    I am looking to create an application that will allow for entry of data from a user and write it to a database file system locally within the application.
    I am new to Windows Store type app development and are a senior developer for ERP systems for the enterprise which have rich databases and client apps that are built with a MVC type configuration. The app communicates with the database which is on the DB
    server (Oracle, IBM DB2, or SQL Server) and writes to the file system.
    For my startup applications I would like to have a simple CRUD type interface that writes to a DB that is part of the application and does not require a connection to a file server or DB server.  Internally I would like something with a few tables,
    etc.. that I can write to and then report from locally.
    In the Windows 8x development world, what is the best method and technology to use for Store Apps for this scenario?  What is the best approach?

  • Increasing Local Storage options

    Hello,
    We have several B440 blades that have 2x72gb drives in a raid-10/mirror array for local storage.  We would like to increase them to 146gb drives.  I have been unable to locate any documentation / support that shows what would be the best path to do this.  ie - in our HP servers, you can swap 1 drive, let the array rebuild, swap the other drive, let the array rebuild and then the array config utilites allow you to utilize the additional space.
    We have the new drives and I have a spare blade to play on, so I'm happy to take ideas if no one is quite sure how to perform this.
    Thank you!

    Though that procedure might work, you likely wont find any documentation from HP, Cisco or LSI on it - as it's not a supported method to increase array capacity.
    If this is a lab system you're welcome to test this, but you do so at your own risk.  I wouldn't recommend this on a production system.
    The Cisco version of the LSI MegaRAID User guide can be found here:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/unified_computing/ucs/3rd-party/lsi/mrsas/userguide/LSI_MR_SAS_SW_UG.pdf
    This will at least explain how to increase a logical volume's capacity  (to take advanrage of the extra space) once the smaller disks have been  swapped for larger ones and re-sync'd.

  • F.31- Missing List - Export - Local File Option

    Hi Guys,
    We have just upgraded to ECC6.0 from 4.6 . An issue we encountered is that one of the methods of exporting the data from F.31 is now grayed out. This is via List->Export->Local file.
    Also in the previous version we do have a Statistics at the end of the report, which is not available anymore.
    So I'm wondering if this is just by SAP design? Does anyone with ECC6.0 have use of the List->Export->Local file feature?
    Thanks

  • Syncronization: How can i store mail for different accounts remotely, and copy most important mails manually to local folders on two devices?

    Hello. I have two devices and two accounts, so what i want is this:
    I only want to store mail from both accounts in a remote place and copy most important mails to local folders.
    (I will be grateful for any ideas as to where/how this "cloud" can be - specially free places)
    * Can I have a copy of these local folders in both devices and the remote storage?
    * Could i synchronize devices so that: when i move a mail to a local folder in any device, its copied to the same folders in
    the other device and the remote storage place?
    * The remote storage place will have many other folders. When I open Thunderbird, I also want to see these and the mail
    inside, and also be able to move mail from the inbox to these folders.
    * One of the accounts is gmail. In Account Setting tool, there is an option for synchronization. If there is no easier way, I can have mail for other account copied to gmail, and just syncronize gmail mail. For this, how will I copy my present folder structure to gmail. And how can I syncronize the local folders on the two devices?
    Thanks in advance.

    The first awkwardness I see is that there's no obvious format in which to store messages remotely such that you can work with them in an email client. It may be possible to set the "Local Directory" option in the account in Thunderbird to point at some remote folder (DropBox comes to mind) but I have never tried this and I'd be nervous about what happens if connection can't be made, or if you happened to access it from two different places simultaneously. The other concern is that mail stores get big, quickly, and you'd be forever uploading and downloading large (multi gigabyte) files. Thunderbird stores what looks like a folder containing many separate messages as one big file, so there's no simple opportunity for incremental changes to be up/down loaded.
    The whole idea of Local Folders in Thunderbird is to detach messages from servers, so they don't track what happens on servers. I say this to point out the distinction between files stored locally and permanently ("Local Folders"), versus cached copies of online files ("synchronized"). It's not safe to regard your synchronized folders as permanent.
    So, synchronized folders on an IMAP server are "mirrored" in Thunderbird so you do have a local (albeit temporary and transient) copy of messages; this is done mainly to avoid repeatedly downloading messages if you re-read them, and it makes searching faster an more efficient. But these "synchronized" message track what's being done on the server, and so if they are deleted anywhere, all synchronized devices will at some point also see the deleted messages vanishing. (Unless you made a local copy in the Local Folders account.)
    I use a gmail account pretty much as you have described; I copy or move messages to that account so they are visible in my phone, my tablet, my own laptop and my works computer. It's free, and it's "in the cloud"; the only reservation I have is its privacy. There are other providers (e.g. 1&1/gmx) who don't seem to have the data collection fetish that google thrives on.
    It's fairly simple to create filters in Thunderbird to automatically copy messages to your "cloud account"; even better is to set up forwarding rules on the other accounts' servers, so your messages are automatically sent on and waiting for you when you next login, already in the cloud account.

  • How to configure local disk on OVM Server as storage space to create VMs

    Hello,
    We have installed OVM Server 3.1.1 on a machine that has 250 GB of Hard disk space [Single disk].
    While installing used an option - Remove all partitions and create a new default partition layout.
    Around 4GB has been used and remaining 246 GB is left as free space.
    From OVM Manager - the server is discovered but didn't discovered the physical disk [i.e. remaining 246 GB raw disk space].
    Can someone help me to understand how to use local disk as storage space for creating and running VM's.
    Thanks
    Srinivas

    You can? You've used every conceivable BIOS out there? You must really be full of yourself. There is absolutely no BIOS that I know of that gives this basic function. BIOSs do not "hard partition" anything. A "BIOS" is not made for such things. Do you even know what "BIOS" stands for?
    I wonder why there is some many wanting to do this and are having problems.... I mean if it is such a straight forward thing to do..... It must be down right "intuitive".
    You maybe speaking of a RAID "BIOS" but you obviously think you're not. Some motherboards have integrated RAID abilities. Intel RST comes to mind... BUT this isn't a feature of a MOTHERBOARD BIOS.
    I've got some $50,000 servers that will not break a single hard drive up into multiple logical drives..... Now, I haven't worked on a "Stinkpad" for many years. Don't want to. However, I have never seen one that would do what you're saying you're doing.
    You maybe trying to help.... but you're leading people down a wrong path.
    Its just as easy to run virtual box and use the virtual box templates for Oracle VM. In fact, its more practical if you want to run Oracle VM on a laptop for testing purposes than blowing everything away and attempting to setup different LUNS on a single hard drive.
    For your review...
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/servers-storage-admin/configure-vm-templates-1656261.html
    Although it's more reliable to use a separate location (such as an NFS share) for a storage repository, you can use a local disk of your Oracle VM Server instead, thus taking advantage of the local storage option. Beware, though: Oracle VM Server 3.0 doesn't allow you to utilize the unused space on the physical disk it's installed on. For local storage, you'll need at least one more physical disk. In other words, you'll need a total of two disks at minimum on your Oracle VM Server host if you want to use local storage. In practice, though, local storage is not a primary use case. The major downside to this approach is that local storage, by definition, cannot be shared between different servers.
