Local service proplems

I think it's sad how in this day and age I can not have simple reliable service for a landline.  I do not use cable or the internet often and have had this phone number and lived at this address since 1984.  And yet, when it rains as it did last night, my phone is likely to stop having a dial tone. Living in Florida does subject itself to seeing lots of rain. And then I have to go to the pole and check before I call it in and its such a hassel.  I just did this 2-3 weeks ago and had a request for repair and I think I get a 4-5 dollar credit for interupted service I have interupted service many times a year, every year for the last six years, I think. my phone, as any one else's, is a lifeline to family and work etc. and Its not a cheap product.  I pay $600 dollars a year for this inconvenience. It's just not fair. Ben Franklin himself would not belive that in 2013  a dependable landline in this county area that I live in, is just not possible. The place that I live, my options are limited, and why would I want to pay 100 dollars a month for high speed internet and cable if the only thing I need is landline phone. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent. Any solutions?  CountyKaren

Tax Authority - East Petersburg Borough (PAKV). Tax Type 84, Local Service Tax. When I maintain PAKV on the IT 0207 record it calculates the local withholding.
I am testing TUB # 205. This particular tax authority is adopting local service tax (84) instead of OPT (51). Effective immediately.
When we first loaded the TUB and I ran payroll for an employee, the tax area was not pulling in the payroll results. I did the steps I listed in my post and I now get the tax authority pulling in but the $2 bi-weekly deduction is not coming out. I also noticed, the taxable earning is showing $0 thus the tax is showing $0.
Thanks for your response,,,

  • Pennsylvania Local Service Tax Not Calculating correctly

    I received a TUB  for a local service tax area that is going from a $10 tax to a $52 LST( tax type 084). When I review the BSI interface/ script , I see an additional tax code of a 9 which means to substitute the lump sum for the pro-rated LST amount which is for authorities that have a $10 or less tax.
    The LST is showing up as a lump sum of $52 for /484. In PA the LST is prorated per pay period of $2 per pay period. I need to remove  the Additional Tax Code. Once I do this,  the tax will  calculate as it should in the amount of $2.00.
    Please advise how to remove this additional tax code of 9. I am  referencing TUB # 179.
    Thanks,

  • Rc-local.service keeps failing after one time success

    Actually it's quite weird, every time rc-local.service was enable successfully with boot but then it keeps failing. However, once I modify /etc/systemd /system/rc-local.service( even something that really doesn't matter ), it will be enabled successfully again. but only ONCE each time.
    [Unit]
    Description=/etc/rc.local compatibility
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/etc/rc.local
    TimeoutSec=0
    RemainAfterExit=yes
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target

    All of those things can be done with udev rules.  I had a Momentus XT, which I now no longer have in my system, but my old rule is still there.  It is as follows:
    ACTION=="add", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ATTRS{model}=="ST95005620AS", RUN+="/sbin/hdparm -B 247 /dev/$kernel"
    You could also do something like this to apply it to all rotational disks
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd[a-z]", ATTR{queue/rotational}=="0", RUN+="/sbin/hdparm -B 254 /dev/$kernel"
    As far as the stuff in /sys, use udevadm to get stuff to put in your rule to identify it.  So something like
    $ udevadm info -a -p /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswiteroo
    I have also used a rule for my backlight setting on boot.  To find stuff, once again use the udevadm
    $ udevadm info -a -p /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0
    My resulting backlight rule is:
    ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="acpi_video0", SUBSYSTEM=="backlight", SUBSYSTEMS=="pci", DRIVERS=="i915", ATTR{brightness}="2"
    For more info on writing udev rules see http://www.reactivated.net/writing_udev_rules.html but when you get to the part about the udev commands, those no longer apply, as they have now been replaced by the udevadm commands listed above.  The commands are mostly correct, just instead of udevinfo, it is udevadm.
    I hope this helps!

  • Using the local service registry from other applications (VC, GP)

    Hi all,
    I am not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but my problem is the service registry I think.
    I am facing the problem of using services that I publish to my local service registry from VC and GP.
    The problem is as follows:
    I publish the services via the "publish" tab on the http://localhost:50000/sr page. The process is executed successfully according to the message.
    Then on the Service Definitions Tab of http://localhost:50000/sr I can find and test the service, though on the System Details Tab All parameters are set to "No data available".
    When I then try to search the service from the VC (searching in a Ws of type service registry, which I have previously configured through destination templates), I get "no services found".
    In the GP I see the published services, but when I try to use them as callable objects, I get the following error message:
    "WS-Interface initialization problem of GenericServiceFactory..., Local_Service_Registry - ServiceName not found. possible changes in the WSDL"?
    I also tried publishing the web services through the ws restrictions, but they dont get published.
    I have adjusted the UDDI_DESTINATION and CLASSIFICATION_DESTINATION properties according to the help page for the localhost system. I also use a Local_Service_Registry destination of type service registry as I thought I need it in oder to use the service registry.
    Has somebody experienced this problem before?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Vera

  • WRVS4400N accessing local services via external IP

    Hello everyone,
    Recently I'm having issues with accessing local services via external IP. Short description of configuration:
    - sub.mydomain.com pointing to my external IP.
    - few web services running on my local server with reverse proxy on Apache 2
    - firewall on router enabled
    - ips on router disabled
    - single port forwarding: WAN 80->Lan 443, WAN 443->LAN 443
    - accessing my services via sub.mydomain.com/service1, sub.mydomain.com/service2, etc
    - I had to create a new rule in internet access policy allowing LAN, any, any to
    Basicaly if I go no matter if I type http or https I will be redirected on 443.
    That configuration has beed working without any issues for a month. Recently I have increased the amount of DHCP users and suddenly it's not working any more. I can still access my services from outside but not from LAN.
    Restarting router does the trick for a while, sometimes for few minutes, sometimes longer.
    Enabling IPS is the way to go but then I'm limited to around 22Mbit/s.
    I did almost everything what is possible to solve this issue, I'm lost and frustrated. I have no idea what happend.
    What I can't understand that it was working, suddenly it's stopped and there are two solutions, either to enable IPS or to restart router which to be honest aren't the solution I'm looking for.
    Please help me point the problem.
    Thank you in advance
    Best regards
    Bartek

  • Creating a local service in OSB

    I want to create several OSB 'local' services. Services that can be called directly without incurring a network hop. Is there a way to do this in OSB (version 10gR3)?

    Let's say I want to have a Cache service attached to the ESB. The purpose of the cache is to minimize the number of expensive service calls. In this case I want the Cache deployed to the ESB and accessed locally, meaning I don't want to make a network jump (ala talking to a webservice) to access the cache. I want the access to be local to the ESB.
    First of all Cache service services are in general state full. That means that we should be able to store some variable/value across multiple invocations. OSB is primarily designed for the stateless/routing services. There is no out of box variables in OSB that can be maintained across multiple service calls. Not that it cannot be designed inside OSB, but it is ideal to create cache logic out of OSB.
    Now to the actual problem, this cache can be designed using java callout . Create some static variable for cache in Singleton Java object. Similarly you can as well design using EJB for this cache logic.
    Let me know if this helps
    Thanks
    Manoj

  • [SOLVED] systemd and rc-local.service

    So, today i decided to try a pure systemd system by migrating my old installation.
    The first problem i faced comes from rc-local.service.
    I followed this:
    https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … s#rc.local
    and created an identical rc-local.service:
    /etc/systemd/system/rc-local.service
    [Unit]
    Description=/etc/rc.local Compatibility
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot
    ExecStart=/etc/rc.local
    TimeoutSec=0
    StandardInput=tty
    RemainAfterExit=yes
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    ...made it executable and enabled the service via
    systemctl enable rc-local.service
    The problem comes when i issue:
    systemctl --system daemon-reload
    systemctl start rc-local.service
    Here the prompt hangs forever.
    ..so i reeboted and automagically "Something" of my rc.local has been executed.
    What has been left out was a subscript launched in background from my rc.local.
    While in the past my working rc.local executed a script:
    checkmounts.sh & #<-this loops forever
    ...and in ps -ef|grep checkmounts i got it listed, now with systemd i haven't it anymore.
    ...note that to debug issues i echoed several "marks" into a text file, and i'm sure that
    rc.local has been executed till the end and systemctl status reports no errors at all.
    So the question are:
    1) why can't i start rc-local from terminal via sysctl and it works (sort of) if i reboot?
    2) why a script executed from rc.local in background doesn't work?

    I already tried that with the same results.
    Now i found that removing StandardInput=tty works and solved both of the issues (at least issuing manual startups).
    So this:
    [Unit]
    Description=/etc/rc.local Compatibility
    [Service]
    Type=oneshot # is forking instead of oneshot needed here?
    ExecStart=/etc/rc.local
    TimeoutSec=0
    #StandardInput=tty
    RemainAfterExit=yes
    [Install]
    WantedBy=multi-user.target
    Works really well for me, exactly like in the past.
    Plus, i can see all running child processess via systemctl status rc-local.service
    If someone thinks this is wrong for seome reason i'll NOT update the wiki page.
    --EDIT
    Works well after a reboot too, and changing Type= to fork make just fork, parallelizing the boot (kdm+kde for me)

  • Would like to see on line the options (cost) for local service only

    I saw a page the other day, and there was a local plan for $18.17
    Now I can't find it back, no matter how much searching I do.  I an area code 812-prefix 794.
    Now the cheapest I can find is the Verizon Unlimited Local Service....at this link.
     http://www22.verizon.com/Residential/Templates/Products/ProductDisplay.aspx
    Can anyone help please?
    Tia.

    I ended up calling them, and found out there is an even cheaper local land line service than what I had seen and then discussed with a rep days ago.  It is just $14.17 and an additional $3.50 for call waiting, and then the usual taxes and additional charges.  I have unlimited calling to 3 local towns, and have signed up for a Long Distance plan with another company that is 4.5 cents a minute, and even breaks the minute down into increments.
    I'm a Verizon/Gte retiree, and will now be able to get the retiree concession rate since I no longer have one of the packages.  They are practically 'giving' me my service.
    Sue...a happy camper!

  • No Local Service Profiles

    I have 4 x 2.1(2a) UCS Domains connected to aUCS Central 1.1a server. Everything is showing up correctly EXECPT for the Servers tab. It is only showing templates in  the "Local Service Profile Templates" section. There are no "Local Service Profiles" showing up in the list for any of the 231 servers on the 4 domains.
    The UCS Central software was updated to version 1.1a from 1.0a after the upgrade of the 4 UCS domains to 2.1(2a).
    Any troubleshooting help or direction would be appreciated.
    - Chris

    Hello Chris,
    As CLI displays it correctly, can you please accessing Central from different system / web browser and verify the outcome ?
    If the outcome is same on different system / web browsers, please collect UCS Central techsupport and open a TAC service request.

  • Internet, but not local, service always drops at same time each day. HELP!

    Hi there,
    At first this was laughable but now it's becoming a real pain.  For the past three weeks, sometime between 4 and 6 AM my router or modem drops the internet connection, but leaves the local only service in place.  After a simple reboot with the router everything is back to normal.  I am wondering what could be causing this?  It's always at the same time.  This doesn't happen at all during the day.  The router does not indicate a problem with anything, since it can still generate local service, just not internet.
    We did recently upgrade to the high speed internet up to 7000 instead of 2000.  It's been happening since then.  We're using a Westell 2200 modem (have had for years, it seems) and an Apple Airport Extreme for a router.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.  I am not sure how to get the numbers that were spoken of.  I do have a phone plugged into another jack, but that's it.  Have the inside wire maintenence plan if need be.
    Thank you!
    ---Sarita

    I had the same arrangement and Verizon sent a new 6100 modem/router for the higher speed service.  The old modem did quite well but could not maintain the higher speed sync.  I was advised by Verizon, when I upgraded to the higher turbo speed, that a new modem would be needed.  I received one for no charge.  I was surprised that the old unit performed as well as it did considering it was not designed for the higher speed.  I suggest you call Verizon and request a new unit.  I am in MA also.

  • JBI and Local Service Bus

    Can anyone share some thoughts on how IBM's use of Local Service Bus compare with what JBI is providing..

    The concept of Local Service Bus from IBM, at first glance, appears to be somewhat similar to
    JBI. However, the lack of details on Local Service Bus and the proprietary nature of its architecture
    makes it hard to do a comparison.
    Java Business Integration 1.0 is close to finalization and has been a community effort with the likes
    of Apache, Iona, Jboss, Oracle, SAP, SeeBeyond, Sonic, Sun, Tibco and others (http://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=208). It would be good to have IBM participate in the standardization effort too.
    To see how JBI works, go to http://java.sun.com/integration and download the early access version.
    There is a technical article at
    http://java.sun.com/integration/reference/techart/jbi/ that describes how to develop a service engine component for JBI. More to follow.

    Hello J,
    It sounds like you've got a handful of software issues alright. Those are rather difficult to diagnose over the phone, much less the internet.
    I highly recommend you to take a look at our Welcome and FAQ board, where a lot of frequently asked questions & answers are compiled for easy rereference. If you look at the "Frequenty Asked Questions" thread which is locked at the top of that board, you will find a lot of good information including how to create your recovery CD's. I would recommend you do that first thing and go from there.
    You also seemed indicated wanting to find a local service location. You can find this information at http://lenovo.com/support and click "Find a service provider" under "Related Links" on the left side of the page.
    Take a look at these resources and let us know where you stand. Welcome to the community and we hope to see you around the boards!

  • In Field Service Technician from Local Service Center

    Thoroughly disgusted trying to reach the LOCAL service center to request they temporarily unmount the distribution box for this seven-unit apartment  complex. The owners are having new windows installed in all units and my unit is the last one. Unfortunately, Comcast's cable distribution box is right outside my living room window and it's preventing the contractors from finishing the window installation. Which means I will have to miss another day of work so that we can get this resolved (hopefully) on Monday. The tech would have to unlock the box and remove the two bolts/.screws or at least loosen it enough so that the flange on the new windows can be placed behind the distribution box and caulked..  Unfortunately Bangalore or Dehli or whatever Asian call center couldn't fathom that a) the purpose of this box is not solely tied to my account and that I shouldn't be charged for the service call, my service is working so why did I need a service tech? C) this wiring is in the walls so you'll have to be charged - no, it's completely outside of the walls and I can follow each cable to each unit ON THE OUTSIDE so again, not my service call.   I saw their vans in the neighborhood today so it would have been very simple if I had been able to contact the LOCAL service center. So now I have a ticket number for a FUTURE service call that I will have to fight Comcast over the billing of it to my account. Losing another day of work. while having everything boxed up so that the contractors can access the windows when they should be done this afternoon.  No, Comcast i do NOT want to answer a survey because you're negative numbers would not low enough for me to properly answer it truthfully. Yes, I could have driven the half hour to the service center.... IF I DIDN'T HAVE 3 CONTRACTORS RUNNING THROUGH THE APARTMENT.

    It is not possible to call any local service center. So, unless one of the Comcast mods here offers to help, the box will not be moved.

  • Can I buy a SIM in the UK for the World Phone and use on local service?

    I am travelling to the UK and have 2 old World Phones. Can I buy a Vodaphone "pay as you go" SIM card and activate these phones under local UK service for my kids while we are there? I really only need phone and text or BIM service.
    I believe the UK-based SIM would give the phones a UK-based phone number and make them local calls (instead of paying the higher international rates)

    No, it wont work on 3G networks in U.S, it only supports WCDMA 2100 and 900, Whereas to work on U.S 3G networks a device should support atleast WCDMA 850 or 1900 look here

  • Problems while creating local service order on client in MAM

    I have MAM2.5 on PC. I have created a local notification and synced it. based on that notif , I am trying to create a service order.But after Sync , I get following error in monitor (merep_mon on MI server) under MAM_001:
    Return code from RFC BAPI Wrapper call:Business area required (Please enter)
    Return code from RFC BAPI Wrapper call:Service/maintenance order type PM02 not completelymaintained in plant 4510
    Return code from RFC BAPI Wrapper call:Business area required (Please enter)
    While creating service order on backend , we have to fill in the business area. but I dont see any such option on client. may be it picks up the business area from some other detail ( like equipment / personnal number ) ..If so , which from where does it pick that?
    Regards

    Hi,
    You may try this option which might allow you to create orders without business area in the client;
    In the back-end, Goto,
    SPRO>Plant Maint. & customer service>maintenance & service orders>Define field selection for order header data.
    Uncheck the business area from required field.
    If it still doesnt work, goto tcode KOT2_OPA and click on change field selection and then remove the required check from business area.
