Local to Long Distance Numbers ???

I'm a commercial pilot and always on the road. All my local numbers do not have 1's in front of them, all my long distance numbers do. On my old phone i could select a number and then there was an option to add a 1 to the number. Is there a way to do this in the iphone without physically editing the number ? How does everyone else do it ?

In the US it's not needed - AT&T automatically doers that for outgoing calls (i.e. you can dial 1-408-555-1212 or just 408-555-1212 and the call will go through just fine).

  • Facetime works local but not long distance

i have been using facetime for 2 years.  Last week (soon after upgrade 8.2)  my service became intermitant.  it works locally,  but long distances it is ringing but no one is answering...
I am using airport extreme....so not sure if its extreme or something else causing this...

chris,  thanks so much but i think it has to do with port somehow.
since i am out of the us it works fine in where i am at,  but trying to get to the us in just rings off the hook and no one can pickup....so it gets a notification that the call is coming through but ends at that point.....and i am just pushing voice only not video.
other people where i am at use facetime and are able to talk to people in the US...I have been doing so until 1 week ago,  when i downloaded 8.2   Thanks for your reply looking forward to understanding what else i can do......
ps already installed firmware in extreme...but didn't solve the issue.

  • Long distance in local calling area

I have set up some Skype to go numbers in my calling area and some of them are working but when I dial others Bell Canada says the number is a long distance number.  Is there any way to chose the number (ie 613 927 XXXX or 613 434 XXXX) instead of it being automatically assigned?  ANy help would be appreciated!

a STG number is mapped to a single target number, and that number must always be entered in international dialing format (i.e. exactly the same way you would dial it if you were wanting to call it using SkypeOut on any Skype client)
    Regards,
    Neil

  • VoIP CallManager 4.1, Run report on someone's long distance

I need to run a report on an extension (ie x6108) to see all the long distance calls that they have made. (Second to this would be local calls.) I am also using a Unity server 4.0 Build 4.0(5). Thanks for your help.

    Hardware:
    1. You may have it already, if not need to have a router at remote office to establish IP connectivity (site-site VPN).
    2. Need Layer2 PoE switch to power up the phones and provide connectivity to the network.
Select the Switch model best suitable to you depending upon the number of users (or IP Phones at remote office).
    Configuration:
    1. Configure DHCP service on local router at remote office. Phones will get IP-address as well as CallManager address as option 150 ip parameter from DHCP configured on the router and get registered with CallManager located at HQ office.
    2. Configure new device pool and other parameters on the CallManage for remote office.Choose right codecs and pay special attention to bandwidth requirements depending upon the number of expected simultaneous calls between the offices.
    3. Trivial things like assigning extension numbers and related settings.
    4. Implement and configure QoS on the remote office if you are planning to run data as well.
    Optional:
    1. For redundancy, during WAN network outage. Configure SRST on local route on remote office to continue support basic telephony during WAN outage.
    2. May need Voice modules on the router, if you are planning to provide local pstn connectivity at remote office. You'll need to configure and implement dial-plan carefully on the CallManager.

  • Unlimited calls in Mexico, includes long distance ...

    Hello,
I'm wondering if the Unlimited calls plan to Mexico include calls to long distance cell phones (045).
    http://skype.com/intl/en-us/prices/subscriptions/new-unlimited-plans-mexico-russia-brazil?intcmp=ch1...
That would be amazing and would sign up immediatly for years to come.

I forgot to ask on my first post if the Unlimited calls plan includes all cities in Mexico, or is the plan limited to certain cities (Mexico, Monterrey, etc)?
    Thanks again.
There are 4 different "unlimited" subscriptions for Mexico, so you would want to be careful in purchasing the right one...
    1. The "Unlimited Mexico Cities" subscription at US$ 6.99/month only covers calls to landline phones in the 3 largest Mexican cities: Mexico City (+52 55), Guadalajara (+52 33), and Monterrey (+52 81). Calls to landline phones outside these 3 area codes, along with calls to any Mexican mobile phone, would have to be paid for with Skype Credit.
    2. The "Unlimited North America" subscription at US$ 7.99/month covers calls to landline phones in the 3 largest Mexican cities listed above, along with all landline and mobile phones in the USA and Canada.  Calls to landline phones in other parts of Mexico, along with any Mexican mobile phone, would have to be paid for Skype Credit.
    3. The "Unlimited Mexico" subscription for landline phones at US$ 19.99/month covers calling to all landline phones in Mexico, not just those in the 3 big cities.  You would still need Skype Credit to cover calls to Mexican mobile phones with this subscription.
    4. The "Unlimited Mexico" subscription for landline and mobile phones at US$ 59.99/month covers calls to all landline and mobile phones throughout Mexico.
Note that calls to Mexican toll-free numbers (those advertised as 01-800 numbers in Mexico) are not possible with Skype.  For these numbers, most operators of Mexican toll-free numbers will offer a non-free number as an alternative - usually for those in and around Mexico City at a local Mexico City landline number (+52 55).  All subscriptions have a fair-use policy.  You can click on "Subscriptions" at the bottom of this page and enter Mexico as the desired country, then you can switch between landline-only subscriptions and those for both landlines and mobiles.  You can also change the currency, if you want to see prices other than US dollars as I've listed them or in euros (the default currency used on that page).
    Hope that helps!

  • Program Long Distance Card

I'm wondering if it is possible to with just one click make a LD call to a contact in my contact list and automatically have the call charged to my LD card.
I was used to my cellphone which allowed me to call any # from my contact list and when I held the send key for 2 seconds it automatically recognized I wanted to make a LD call and charge it to my calling card, which was already programmed in the phone.
Or is it possible to have the BB recognize any LD number prefixed with a 0 should be charged to my LD card, without having to type in my LD card # and PIN all the time.
I don't want to pre-program all my LD contacts with the calling card #, because sometimes I find my self in the city where my contacts are, and I need to call them locally.

For each of these contacts, you can store one phone number for Long Distance and one phone number for local calls. So when you call one of the, you just choose which one you want to use. I hope you don't have too many contacts

  • Rogers - Long Distance Data?

    Hi all,
I just got my first Data Plan and Blackberry (8900 Curve) from Rogers yesterday. I was wondering if using data outside of my local calling region (i.e. Toronto) will cause "Long Distance Data" charges? Or is there no such thing?
    Cheers,
    Ben

With the Canadian providers (including Rogers) Data roaming in Canada is free. So from Victoria to St Johns, there is no "long distance" as you put it for using data, regardless of the fact that you have a Toronto phone #.
When you travel outside of Canada, that's when you start paying Data roaming charges.

  • No long distance dialing for common area phones

What's the best method step by step of limiting common area phones to local dialing only and blocking long distance?

The step by step would be to create a voice policy, pstn usage, and route with those restrictions, then assign it to the common area phones.  Then, assign the voice policy to the phones and test.  What you're attempting to do is actually quite
    common.
I made a handy tool to assign policies to common area phones if it helps:

  • ASA upgrade to 8.4.3 now branh office cant make long distance calls

We deployed 8.4.2 over the weekend and now a branch office that connects  to our core via ASA to ASA VPN tunnel is no longer able to make long  distance calls.  We are using Callmanager 4.1 and it is connected to our  core, the phones at the branch register fine and are abe to call  internal extensions, but when dialing 800 numbers and longdistance they  are not being directed to their PRI.

    Hello Stuart:
    Answers:
    1) If you have the command "NAMES" on and "NAT CONTROL" on the ASA will start creating a huge amount of object networks so they can perform the same thing that they did on 8.2 . So before doing the upgrade remove the names and the nat control feature
    no names
    no nat-control
    2) Twice nat or as you said (nat command outside of an object network) it is listed on the command reference and actually it has the highest priority when the ASA checks the NAT rules. So do NOT delete them as they are more than fine.
         A) Twice NAT
         B) Auto nat
         C) After-Auto nat
    3) That is correct but if they are from the NAT 0 with acl from 8.2 versions should be:
         nat (inside,outside) source static A A destination static B B
    4) You are right, you do not need to use a NAT 0 with ACL in order to configure the VPN, instead you need a TWICE nat as I configured on answer 3.
Any other question..Sure.. Just remember to rate all of the answers.

  • Iphone 3GS resetting on long distance calls???

My iphone keeps resetting while i'm on long distance calls. It works perfectly while i'm on local calls but for some reason it resets itself if i'm talking to my family, who live about 4hrs away. It cuts out mid convo (i lose the call) and displays the apple in the middle of the screen for about 30secs then goes back to a locked screen as if nothing had happened. Has anyone else experienced this????

  • If you have wifi plus cellular and you use in Europe, do long distance phone rates apply?

If you have wifi plus cellular and you use in Europe (connecting via cellular), do long distance phone rates apply?

No, since the iPad is not a phone. But unless you use a local carrier when you're in another country from that where you have your service, international data roaming rates would probably apply, and international roaming is usually expensive.

  • Long Distance Calling & Voice-over IP

If I am running my blackberry thru my wireless router, can I make long distance calls for free? I heard that if you're in a foreign country and you hook into wifi that your calls are free as well...true?

    UMA = Unlimited Mobile Access.
Yes, if you have UMA on your device, if you are in, say Germany, and you have a WiFi connection and UMA on the screen, when you make a call to anywhere, in this case pretend you are calling back to the USA.
The call is made via WiFi/UMA, and the call is connected to a router for the WiFi network you are on, and then direct back to a Tmobile network center in the USA. Then the call is connected to your party via the normal phone network. Because the call now "originates" from the Tmobile service center in the USA, the call is a local in-nation call.
Say you are in Germany, and you call Japan. Same story, the call orginiates from the Tmo service center in the US, and you are charged for a US --> Japan call, rather than Germany > Japan, which in most cases can be advantageous for your rates.

  • Cannot make long distance calls when dialing from BB address book

    Hello,
    1) If use a number from my address book, example 1-604-824-2021, to call long distance I get a message "all long distance calls must include the area code.  Please check the number and dial again."   If I use the telephone pad to call the exact same number, eg 1-604-82402021, the call goes through.  Is there a setting to adjust?  Please advise.  Thank you.
    2) I synched my BB to Outlook 2007 on my pc in order to print a hardcopy of my contact list.  The sync worked fine but only gave me the contacts with an email address and their name.  Contacts on my BB without email addresses didn't show on the list and all details, addresses, birthdates, and most importantly phone numbers for any contacts didn't show up.  Is there a way to get ALL the contact details on a hardcopy?  Thank you.
The folks at Telus can't help because they apparently don't know BB products well enough.  I'm not about to pay BB technical to tell me how to use their product but i might take the service providers advise to buy an iPhone.  Can someone offer advise to solve these two seemingly simple issues
    Thanks again.

Please check your Smart Dialing settings...it may be that they are active, which could make the "1" in your Contact Item extraneous.

Interesting...it should sync everything...hmmm... Well, if your only interest is a hard copy, then an export might be just as simple. The Desktop Software can export to a CSV, which you could then render in Excel, and do with as you please. Unfortunately, the export feature was removed in the most recent versions of the Desktop Software (don't ask...it's a HUGE bru-ha-ha!!), and you must use an older version (6.x or lower, as I recall) to do that:
